When ever you get these errors of some sort when trying open or start a application, try the following.

System Error:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx a bunch of numbers and leeters specified error message.

1) Click Start run type in services.msc

2) Find the Application logs in Event

3) Right click and select properties, underneath log size

4) click on the "overwrite events as needed button" and then click ok, try opening the application again,

you will see that the error message is gone.

Unable to change the Location in IPFX Desktop Manager

This is when you try to change a the location of your phone to Busy, Don't disturb, Away from desk etc.

Solution: You will need to change the Regional Setting in Control Panel to the country you are in and then you are able to change the location in IPFX Desktop Manager.

Unable to delete mails from blackberry handset using delete functions.

There is an issue where you are unable to delete mails from the blackberry handset using the delete function or even the delete prior.

It looks like when the email database design gets updated this occurs.

You need to go into Blackberry Desktop Manager and go to Backup and Restore, then click Advanced. Then select Messages in the right pane. Once you have that selected, click the Clear button and the Close. Go ahead and exit out of Backup And Restore, close Desktop Manager and disconnect your blackberry.

You may need to also do the following if the step above doesn't work. Go into your Blackberry Email Options, then go into Email Reconciliation. Turn off Wireless Reconcile, and exit out of that option. Let it sit for 30 seconds. Then go back into Email Reconciliation and turn the Wireless Reconcile back on and exit the Options menu.

IPFX Desktop Manager Email Voice-mail Issue

When a user gets a voice-mail it should email them as a notification message. With that message you also get a wav file and the ability to hear the voice-mail via the phone using controls embedded in the mail. For some reason the email notification is generated but there are no controls in the email.

Looks like the voice-mail form which is used becomes corrupted.

First go to a working machine and go to Tools\Options\Other\Advanced Options\Custom Forms\Manage Forms.
Highlight the form Voice-mail and click on Save As.
Save the file somewhere so you can pick it up from the faulty PC.
Then move onto the faulty PC.
Open Outlook and go to Tools\Options\Other\Advanced Options\Custom Forms\Manage Forms.
In the right hand pane, select the Voice-mail form and click Delete (if they have an entry, if not skip to step 8).
Close and open Outlook again.
Go to Tools\Options\Other\Advanced Options\Custom Forms\Manage Forms again and click Install Change the Files of Type to fdm.
Navigate to where you saved the form file in step 3 and select the filename.fdm file.
Close all the boxes and now it should work.

How to determine network speed on your LAN Using PING

Testing network speed is a measure on how fast can the data be delivered from a the visitors PC and the host’s server. you can use Ping command on your Dos prompt so to test network speed. You can easily test network speed by pinging the server. you just need to open MS-DOS prompt and fire a simple command: ping server ID, where server ID is either a domain name or the IP address.

Once you fire ping command you would be getting results similar to these:

Reply from 64.190.235.64: bytes=32 time=432ms TTL=45
Reply from 64.190.235.64: bytes=32 time=180ms TTL=45
Reply from 64.190.235.64: bytes=32 time=377ms TTL=46
Reply from 64.190.235.64: bytes=32 time=216ms TTL=45
Ping statistics for 64.190.235.64:
Packets: Sent=4 Received=4 Lost=0 (0% loss)
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 180ms, Maximum = 432ms, Average = 301 ms

A ping time of under 200ms is very good, 200 to 400ms is average and 400ms and above are poor ping times. Make sure a poor ping times do not always indicate a problem or slow network.

Network Error when opening up Lotus Notes

I get this Error message when trying to open my Lotus Notes my mailfile.

Error Message:

"Network Operations did not complete in a reasonable amount of time, please retry"

Cause:

Big Mailbox or a corrupt mailfile

Solution:

Do a Compact on the mailfile and restart notes, or do a fix-up from the domino server on the mailfile, once it opens start reducing your mailfile or do an archive of it.

Delays in Receiving mail in Lotus Notes (After a F9 Refresh)

This is a Solution for users that receive emails after pressing F9 to refresh.

This issue may occur if the new mail sequence number is out of synchronization. Reset the value in the notes.ini to see if it resolves the issue. The notes.ini may have a NewMailSeqNum entry as well as an entry NewMailSeqNum followed by the Replica ID of the user's mail file, for example:

NewMailSeqNum=43100

NewMailSeqNum85255C71:00737859=43100

Clear the value after the parameter and restart Notes. In this example, the 43100 number.

The Notes.ini file is located in the Notes folder, e.g: C:\Lotus\Notes

Please create a safe copy of the Notes.ini file before modifying it.

Delete files permanently, without emptying your recycle bin

There is a way to delete files that won't go into your recycle bin as shown

Right click your recycle bin - select properties - then tick the box where it says.

Copying your Lotus Notes Contacts & Database from one PC to another.

Resolution:

To do this you will have copy 3 files from your old computer to the new computer they will need to be located in the notes data directory, usually on C:\Notes\Data.

1) Desktop6.ndk

2) Bookmark.nsf

3) Names.nsf

this will get all your contacts, mail settings & database that were saved on workspace.

Lotus Notes Error message - "Error Creating Temp File"

Cause:

I have found when you get this error message, creating a new mail in lotus notes, the signature which is created in HTML in lotus notes has been corrupted by a virus.

Resolution:

To fix this issue go to your lotus notes to tools>preferences>signature to remove it, and create another signature in word and then save it in HTML.

A Boot-able USB stick?

To boot up from a USB stick you will need to do a few things, firstly start up the computer that you are going to boot up from, before the POST go into the bios setting and enable the USB if it is not enabled, (note - you will get this with older types of motherboards if it hasn't already been done so), secondly once you are in the bios, go into the bootup menu option and set the first bootup to be USB, and then change the harddrive or the CD/DVD rom to bootup as it's secondary, then copy the contents of what you want to bootup onto the flash disk, such as windows XP or Linux etc, make sure you have enough storage space on the flash disk, once that is done then you are ready to insert your usb flash disk and boot from. happy installation.
