What’s beautiful with those scenic buildings in China is that you not only find annoying tourists (I plead guilty !) but also regular Chinese families enjoying a good time together. In the Yonghe Lamasery, you can come across regular people going on about their everyday life, ranging from supervising their free-roaming children to offering incense to deities or ancestors.

Bruges is fantastic. Unlike Collin Farrell, I do love the city (but it might be related to the fact that I have nothing to atone for), it’s amazingly picturesque, the chocolate specialties are so very special, and there’s even a Beer Wall with quotations from Homer Simpson, amongst others.

But what I like most about this city is that it’s built around so many canals, and that allows you to admire all those red-brick buildings on a different perspective.

One last thing ! If you ever set foot in Bruges, you definitely have to sit Chez Vincent for a lunch, they have the most wonderful French Fries ever. Oh and by the way, we should start calling these Belgian Fries, they’re so much better there than in France…

The Jinmao Tower (金茂大厦), once the tallest building in all the PRC (since then caught up by the Shanghai World Financial Tower and the under construction Shanghai Tower) is a 88-story tower, part of the world-famous Pudong skyline.

From the 53rd to the 87th story, you will find the 555 rooms of the Shanghai Grand Hyatt luxury hotel. If you climb up to the 88th floor (it’s a 1’20 ride with the high-speed elevator) and are lucky enough to avoid any clouds (I was not), you’ll have a spectacular view all around Shanghai. But you’ll also be able, provided that you can withdraw your eyes from the skyline, to catch a glimpse of the Grand Hyatt lobby, 35 stories below.

35 stories below, yet still in the same building, that’s Near and Far for you!

Every year since 2003, Chartres (home to the most beautiful gothic cathedral I’ve seen, Notre Dame de Chartres), is hosting the Chartres Light Show, a wonderful Light Festival, displayed on all the most iconic buildings of the city.

While there were truly impressive pieces of art being showcased on the cathedral itself, the auction house or the former post office, what caught my eye was this peculiar bridge, with its own history cast in words of light.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have any decent camera with me at the moment, so I had to take out my phone (and the Huawei Honour isn’t famed for its high-end camera), hence the noise and overall darkness of this picture.

While I was visiting Leshan (乐山) and its most famous Giant Buddha (乐山大佛) back in 2009, I ended up really drenched by tropical rain.
While there were many huge puddles all over the park, the staff found a really neat makeshift way to let use roam freely in spite of the water.
And don’t worry, it’s stabler than it looks.
