You see, plasmoid bisa dibuat dengan Python, Ruby dan Javascript. UI building memang belum friendly. Antara memang widget-nya belum komplit atau saya yang kurang akrab dengan API Plasma. Buktinya plasmoid RSSNow bisa tampil cantik.

Morning Coffee: Prioritise Your Reading List

Ever feeling overloaded with informations? Techmeme, engadget, mashable, readwriteweb, etc. Which one to read first?

Let’s welcome MorningCoffee! MorningCoffee is your great assistant, giving you priorites which information to digest first. Given a list of feed URLs, MorningCoffee will come up with a scored reading list. The top most is the one generate the most buzz.

For this prototype MorningCoffee uses FriendFeed visibility scoring. Item which appears more in FriendFeed will have higher score. An item may appear in FriendFeed when people share it from Google Reader, delicious, and others.

This scoring is pretty simple at the moment. But it will likely be updated to cater comments, likes, and hides in FriendFeed.

UI is rather too dull. A proper title and hiding the URL may be the closest milestone. Paging will follow soon.

Friendfeed 101

A lot would say: What the hell is Friendfeed? I ain’t gettin’ any positives.

Well, to be honest, I’ve been saying the similar sentence. I’m been “using” Friendfeed for sometime but I hardly get what does it do than aggregating my lifestream and my friend lifestream. Scoble makes it clear today

And it’s true. I’ve been receiving some positives today. Where? From the right sources. People who actually stay in friendfeed and bouncing conversation. Not people who stay out of friendfeed and jotting his stuff blindly to it. So, if you still don’t get it then start following the right people. Start joining a room.

Brand New 2009

I have a similar post back on January 2008. It was a wish came true. A new job for a new year. And now, 2009 is 2 hours away. I’m going wishful again. There seem to be a few good chances waiting to grasp. But lesson learned, my future is still my own hand. Waiting a chance to be given by other, further to be dependent on it, is not a smart move. So, I’m aiming for a new job in 2009. Raising my pay check before my skills are getting rusty. The Street Heroes: Honda Blade Ad

My first impression would be: tukang ojek. I mean, there is nothing super or heroic about this Blade hero. The script looks awful. Instead of showing what Blade is,it is showing how a hotshot Bruce-Wayne-like boy with his Alfred-like uncle trying to remake Street Hawk. WHALE! Err, I mean fail!

I don’t know why, this short movie is capable of summoning J-Rock, Alexa, and Aura Kasih video clip but failed in creating a sticky moment. Well, it sticks to me: AWFUL.

Gosh, this is Honda. I’m runnning out of reason, why they bother to use such low-life ad?

Hero Costume? WHALE. It’s like tukang ojek. it has standard glove, jacket,and helmet. Nothing really super. Not even kids will think it as super. Making me wonder, who’are this ad targets?
The super thing about the blade vehicle was I don’t know. It’s faster than some car I cannot tell whether it’s old or new. The only scene showing blade superness is a mediocre shot on its front wheel turning form left to right. Come on, the old 80-ish Kamen Rider is even better than this. The rest is explained via an ad in the middle of the movie. No question asked, the real is so much better.

I hope Pitra and Kappachan will dig more on this ad. I’ll be looking forward to deeper analysis from both of them.

Fontella theme contains malware, google said

This is what I found in my blog, after installing fontella:

I check it today using chrome. Chrome told me that my blog contains something unsecure from ebolka.net. A view source explains all.I’ve removed the iframe right away.

So, in case you are using the same theme. Do remove the iframe in header.php.

Update:

Fontella author has confirmed (see comment section) that the original theme has no malware. I must have downloaded this theme somewhere else. So, if you are downloading directly from granimpetu.com, you’ll be safe.

Conversation Based Design

Flickr pages is a conversation based design. This Photo Clip wordpress theme is also a conversation based design. They communicate the pciture. Their design decision engaging a “let’s talk about this picture” activity. Youtube is almost there, but I feel it a bit bloated in UI term.

So, what about blog. I haven’t found any wordpress theme designed based on conversation. Designed to promote conversation. Most of the conversation is still depending on how controversial the title, how hot the image, and who writes it. Design? Design looks dull. Always giving spotlight to what the author write. Ignoring the fact that the real value is the conversation beneath it.

Maybe Friendfeed design is close to what I’m looking for. You can go to a friendfeed room to see the conversation. Plurk also sporting a quite useful UI for bird-viewing and intensive interaction. Hmm, but does it fit blog unique characteristic? Any designer felt challenged on this issue?

Conversation based design is the new magazine style theme. It will be the new black!

So, what would be crucial in conversation based design? Comments deserve more. Commentator deserve more. Articles should be presented together with comments, anywhere, to present conversation. Comment form should be non-hideous. Comment first, identity is second.
