If you’re planning to start a career as a pharmacy technician, one of your
top priorities is probably knowing how much money they’ll make. Before going
further I want to mention that the more training and certifications you
have in the job the more money you’ll be able to make. With the recession
continuing, it’s important to have a career that will allow you to live
comfortably.

The medical industry is a fantastic field as it continues to grow at an
accelerating rate. Not only is the pay good, you don’t have to worry about
people not having to use your services anytime in the near future. But education
and training are extremely important to have a successful career in pharmacy
field. The more skills and knowledge you bring to the table the more you’ll
make.

For example lets say that you already have a job as a pharmacy tech. The best
thing you could do to advance in your career would be to obtain the pharmacy
technician certification. In some instances like if you’re trying to get a
promotion or maybe an increase in your salary having this certification will
give you an edge over your competitors. If you’re looking for an even brighter
future in your career you may want to consider getting a recognized pharmacy
degree. This kind of degree is invaluable when trying to move up the ladder.

Your role as a pharmacy technician is of critical importance. You’ll have
to give advice to patients on the proper way of taking many different drugs. If
they’re taking several drugs at the same time then this responsibility
increases many times over. You’ll then have to take into consideration any
possible harmful interaction between the many different prescriptions.

These types of things are often supposed to be carried out by the pharmacist,
but being as busy as they are a lot of the time you’ll find yourself having to
do these kind of jobs. Taking into account the fact that pharmacy field
continues to grow every day with new breakthroughs and innovations all the time,
the need to fill positions is ever growing. This is the point in which the
pharmacy technicians salary will become important.

Let’s get right down to business and just spell out in plain English how
much a pharmacy technician makes. You’re most likely going to be making around
$20,000 during your first year. Your income is the dependent on many
things, and as time moves on you’ll have the chance to earn more.

Your level of expertise and training is the first and most important factor.
With each new certificate or degree you have the chance to earn more. The second
most important factor is where your pharmacy is located. If you’re in the
middle of a rich neighborhood you’ll have the opportunity to earn more. Also
if you work for one of the larger pharmacies you will also most likely earn
more.

A lot of the time when someone thinks about getting into the medical
industry they consider being a paramedic, doctor, or nurse. But the pharmacy
technician is just as important as these other jobs, it will give you the
opportunity to help serve an even broader number of people.

There are a number of professions that are quite demanding and rewarding at
the same time. Working as a can or Certified Nursing Assistant is not easy, but
you will certainly love the work and getting to see your patients get better.
You will take pride in helping them cope with and overcome their illness.
However, before you get to practice you will need to undergo training. The
courses last for anywhere between 6 and 12 weeks and this is certainly
an advantage. However, the more important question is: how hard is CNA
training?

The level of difficulty is different for the different people, but it can be
safely said that this type of training is relatively easy. You will study the
most important aspects of medical subjects such as anatomy and physiology. If
you were relatively good in biology as school, you will certainly find these
disciplines to be relatively easy and even fun. You will also have classes and
infection control. These are not necessarily more demanding, but they are
definitely not pleasant. Still, you will not find it hard to go through these.
Nutrition is also present as a subject. A lot of people will find the
classes devoted to healthy dieting easy, interesting and rewarding. Generally,
the schooling part of the training is not difficult and the majority of students
complete it successfully. Those who go through Red Cross CNA classes will have
an easy time of it.

How hard is CNA training in terms of hands-on experience? You will have to
affirm and put into practice the skills you acquire in class during the so
called clinical activities. This part of the training is not hard either, but
you have to be focused and dedicated in order to make the most out of it and get
the most beneficial results. Given that the course is relatively short, you will
really need to use the practice time to improve your skills and gain as much
experience as possible.

In order to do well in your CNA training you need to have an excellent class
attendance record. You are allowed to miss no more than 6 hours so you
really have to take this course seriously and have effective time management.
A lot of people find it hard to be punctual and to attend all classes, but
given that the training will be through in no more than 3 months, you can
really afford to reduce your outings and even to sleep a bit less.

How hard is CNA training in terms of exams? You need to complete two tests
successfully in order to become a certified nursing assistant. You have to pass
the skills test first. Then you can be allowed to take the written one. You need
80% or higher on your final exam in order to get the certificate you dream of.
This might seem way too high to some people, but as said earlier the knowledge
and the skills you need to have are not particularly complex. Generally, as long
as you study hard and put a lot of effort into practice, you will do great.

Last week I received iPhone case from OtterBox which is an US company. They
are famous not only by cases for iPhones or iPods, but also for many types of
other PDA's cases for HP, Palm, BlackBerry etc. For iPhone they offer
2 types of cases – iPhone Armor, which is waterproof and iPhone
Defender, which is not waterproof, but it offers
3 layers of great protection. Right about this case I would
like to say something more.

Arrival and packing

The case arrived very fast – in one week, right to my doors through UPS
delivery services. It was packed in a quite big box, but it was because of the
case packing. Anyway it was enforced by air which offered gorgeous
protection for the product. The very case packing included
manual for installing the case (with coloured images)
and the case itself.

Appearance and construction

The case is available in 2 colour combinations –
black and yellow. I received the yellow
one, which I disliked at first sight as it reminded me more an digital
multimeter rather than in iPhone. But I got accustomed to it very fast and
then I realized that I like it much more then the black one. :)

The case itself icompound of 3+1 pieces:

strong plastic case, which protects iPhone from front and back sides (it
consist of 2 pieces which are then vertically joined together)

silicone skin

belt clip

As I said in the beginning the case has 3 layers of protection:

a clear Polycarbonate sheet with high performance hard coating that
	offers chemical and abrasion protection

a hi-impact Polycarbonate skeleton

a Silicone skin to absorb bump and shock

Usage

After compounding all pieces iPhone gets some grams in addition. Also it gets
some milimeters from each side. Personally I think that the phone can be
holded much better in hands with case than without it. It offers access
to all control buttons except the silent switch. I realized this
fact as a very big problem, but after rethinking I came to opinion that
when I don't want to be disturbed I turn off the phone, or turn on the
Flight mode in the settings. I like that the phone is fully
protected from each side, including display or camera. Camera is
protected by polycarbonate sheet which is in addition countersinked deeper, so
when we put the phone on the table the objects glass doesn't gets dirty.

Air bubbles

One of the biggest problem I had with this case were air bubbles
between display and plastic sheet. It is really undesirable effect,
which could be fortunately solved. To avoid those bubbles we
need to put a third layer between those 2. We can use a protecting sheet which
are available for few dollars or we can use our hands. Just go through the
display with your hand or thumb and then put the phone to the case. It sounds
strangely, but it works like a charm.

Conclusion

I own iPhone just for a few weeks, but with iPhone
Defender I like my iPhone much better :) It gathered me by its
robust plastic construction and with great protection it offers. Beyond this it
comes with a belt clip which is also made from the same strong plastic.
I would categorize this case as an outdoor, but there are no problems using
it in interior conditions as well.

Pros

very good protection

massive polycarbonate plastic

slippy sillicone – it can be easily put out of pocket

it can be charged through USB cable, but not through dock

Cons

silent switch is not accessible

air bubbles – it can be solved as I said above

the plastic sheet does not fit equally on the display, which decreases its
sensitivity, you need to use more force in such cases

Price & Where to buy

The price of this case is $49.95 and it can be
"bought through OtterBox web
pages.

MacBook Air, who doesn't knows it? As Steve Jobs stated at
the MacWorld – It's the world's thinnest
notebook. All of us knows that fact at the moment. (however,
I know that there are many of Air's rivals) Apple made again a great
product with glossy design. Everyone loves it.

With the new MacBook Air comes also the MacBook Air ad with the song by Yael
Naim. What is really exciting, this ad is so popular that there are many of
fanatics who are making spoof and parody ads based on the original one. Just
imagine how people are squeezing their old big black notebook's in an
envelope. It's kinda funny!

let's go right to MacBook Air

Then don't forget to get back here to post a comment about your feelings
about this new product from Apple.

Few days ago I’ve found a web service called Songza.com. As their tag line says – it’s an music search engine and an internet jukebox.

The good thing about Songza is that it can find almost any music files you type in the search box and it plays the song right in your browser, so you even don’t need any music player to hear your favourite songs.

Some of the Songza’s features are:

top songza songs

online playlists

send to a friend link

link to song

watch on YouTube

and more

The page also offer to search for an artists discography or for an artist (to buy its CD) on Google.

Mozilla Firefox is my no. 1 web browser and I also must to admit that it is the most used application on my desktop. I’m using it on daily basis and as I like to do things fast and in a comfortable way I’m using keyboard shortcuts. I thought that they could help to many of my readers too, so I’d love to share them with you:

Ctrl+T [open a new tab]

Ctrl+W [close current tab]

Alt+D [go to address bar]

Ctrl+K [go to search bar]

Ctrl+Shift+T [reopen the latest closed tab]

Ctrl+F [search the page]

Ctrl++ or Ctrl+- [increase/decrease text size]

F5 [refresh (reload) page]

Alt+Home [go to homepage]

Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab (or Ctrl+PageUp and Ctrl+PageDown) [go to the next/previous tab]

The order of shortcuts is random as I’m using them also randomly, but those are my most used keyboard shortcuts in Firefox.

What cool (productive|killer|hidden|whatever) shortcuts do you use? Share them with us in the comments!

Did you ever dream about Matrix Desktop? A desktop where you could use your screensaver as your desktop wallpaper? Today I’m going to show you a way how you can achieve this effect in Linux, especially when you use Gnome as your desktop environment:

1. The first step we need to take is turn off Nautilus which draws the current desktop and icons in Gnome:

gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop false

2. Next we need to turn up xscreensaver and its ‘glmatrix’ screensaver (nice Matrix movie like screensaver) in the root window (in the desktop):

/usr/lib/xscreensaver/glmatrix -root

3. Congratulations! That’s all

4. Optional: If you would like to start the animation whenever you log in, then create a file “~/.config/autostart/glmatrix.desktop” with the following content:

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=No name
Name[en_IN]=Desktop matrix
Exec=/usr/lib/xscreensaver/glmatrix -root
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true

After you would like to get back to your previous desktop, just insert the following on the command line (ElecBoy thanks for that):

gconftool-2 –type bool –set /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop true && nautilus

When all steps are successfully done we should expect something like this:

Via

I was always curious about how things and technologies are done and how they works. When it goes to software and web applications I always wondered how it’s programmed and what tools were used during the development of that application.

Last week I found a great Web 2.0 application called BuiltWith which can find out what technologies were used to built a specific page. Using BuiltWith is as easy as putting the URL to the form and hitting Enter (or clicking on Lookup button) After that we get a list of technologies which powers the current website.

For example if you are curious what technologies are used here on Geek Hacks you can easily put geekhacks.com to the lookup form and follow up the list. You can see there that I’m using Google Analytics to track my visitors. Interesting thing there are the other popular websites which are also using Google Analytics and the overall percentage share of tested sites that are using it.

How BuiltWith works?

Okay, this is great tool, but what if I would like to know of what BuiltWith.com is built with? The easiest way to find out is to type in its URL to the lookup form Another answer is hidden in their FAQ’s:

When you lookup a page on BuiltWith, a robot goes off deep into cyberspace and looks at the page in question. It them compares that page with the technology list at BuiltWith.com and if it finds any matches, reports the information to you.

or:

BuiltWith.com detects technology by matching substrings of the technology name. If a page contains a matching substring it will report the page as featuring that technology.

Pretty easy, nah?

Last thing to note is that BuiltWith is a fresh new tool which means that it may not know all currently existing technologies, in this case there is a Suggest Technology page where you can suggest new technologies which should be added in the future.
