You might remember the “pi” pie I featured on my Sugar & Sweets blog, back on Pi Day (3/14 — get it?). That pie in this plate would be geeky pie perfection! I found this pi plate at Signals. I think I want it!

So, I know I’m going to be spending lots of quality time with my new MacBook. On the couch, in the car, in bed. But you know how it is when you’re trying to get comfortable with a laptop. Sometimes it can be a real pain in the neck and back.

This cushion looks like the perfect solution to that problem. It’s being called the “lazy geek’s cushion.” I take exception to the “lazy” part, because even though I look like I’m not doing anything, I’m constantly running marathons in my mind! Sure, not all of my thinking is productive (obsessive-compulsive brain buzz), but it’s always busy!

Well, I might just have to add this “busy geek’s cushion” to my wish list. If you have any other tips for alleviating geek-strain and laptop-related aches and pains, let me know. Cheers!

A couple of nights ago, this boy was taking a bath. He noticed the label on the shampoo bottle, which said “3-in-1,” and asked what “3-in-1″ means. I told him it’s because that product does three things to help us get cleaned up. It’s a body wash, shampoo, and hair conditioner, all in one bottle.

He thought for a minute and came up with this: “Hey, what if it was 13-in-1! Then we could get super-clean, and it would keep out the tangles forever! We would smell good and stay clean for 13 days!”

I love that boy, and I love the way he thinks.

Yes, if you are familiar with the story of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, you know what kind of catapult game I’m talking about. You choose your side — English or French — I chose French, because they are better taunters.

Although the gameplay is a bit sluggish (which could just be my machine), it was still fun. The sheer silliness of loading up cows, donkeys, and chickens (and the Holy Hand Grenade!) onto a catapult and flinging them toward the oncoming foes made for an amusing 15 minutes.

Playing on the French side, my enemies included English knights (also known as k-niggits or pig-dogs) on foot, knights with coconut sound effects (on horseback), Knights Who Say Ni, and The Black Knight. I only made it past those levels, so I don’t know what horrors might await a more successful flinging campaign. A Trojan Rabbit, perhaps?

If you try the game, let me know how far you get. “Now go a-way, or I shall taunt you a second time-uh!”

It turns out he delivered some good advice to the Park Tudor (an expensive private school in Indianapolis) graduates, some of which was printed in yesterday’s paper. I’m sharing it here, because it’s a welcome change from the news we’ve had about the flooding disasters lately.

Follow your dream … but surround yourself with family and friends who will tell you when it’s time to go to Plan B.

There’s too much of everything everywhere. Give yourself some time to think.

Learn to say “I don’t know.”

Be skeptical; question everything, especially if you find it on the Internet.

Learn about credit. Credit cards can ruin your life.

Realize nothing good ever starts with “Dude, I dare you to…”

Don’t pierce anything.

Be polite.

Whatever setbacks you may encounter, there is no problem so great that it can’t be solved by moving back into your parents’ basement.
