The big September reveal-a-thon is set to continue tomorrow with some new product announcements courtesy of Amazon, but a rival player in the e-book space is trying to capture some thunder of its own prior to Amazon’s big show. Rakuten-owned Kobo has just officially unveiled a slew of new e-readers (plus an Android tablet, naturally) in an attempt to cement its place as a serious competitor despite its persisting status as an underdog.

iMore has learned that recent parts leaks and dummy phones are accurate representations of what the new iPhone (iPhone 5,1) will look like when Apple announces it on September 12, 2012. Almost identical in design to the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, the major visible differences will include a 4-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a metallic plate across most the back, and a miniaturized Dock connector and relocated 3.5mm headset jack along the bottom.

Apple has announced their September 12 special event, expected to see the introduction of the next generation iPhone 5. The information on the invitation is sparse. According to the graphic shared by Jim Dalrymple of The Loop, it shows the number 12 (the date of the event), and the number 5 (make of that what you will), along with the following line: "It's almost here".

Of the 29 scientists in attendance (the majority of whom contributed to the fields of physics and chemistry), over half of them were, or would would go to become, Nobel laureates. (It bears mentioning that Marie Curie, the only woman in attendance at the conference, remains the only scientist in history to be awarded Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields.)

Published by iPhonenieuwsblog.nl, the image is reportedly of the next, ahem, new iPhone’s packaging fresh off a massive printing press. And within, clear as day, is the new iPhone with five vertical rows of icons and the wording “The New iPhone.” Gone is the numerical designation that’s been with the iPhone for the last four generations. Apple is making it as simple as possible with the next iPhone — and this will likely be confusing to a lot of people.

Safari has been on the iPhone since the first version launched in 2007, and has been steadily improved, year after year, version after version, ever since. iOS 6 follows the same, steady, evolutionary pattern, addressing long standing user pain-points like image uploads, and providing parity with features from other browsers, like Chrome's tab sync. Apple has amended a lawsuit they filed back in February against Samsung, and is now including four new devices to the original 17 they say violate their patented technology. The additions are the Galaxy S3 (Galaxy S III), the Verizon specific Galaxy S III, the Galaxy Note, and the Galaxy Note 10.1.

One of the major questions people were asking themselves when Christopher Nolan began work on The Dark Knight Rises was how would the Joker figure into the next Batman film, considering Oscar-winning Heath Ledger had passed away. Rumors abounded that Nolan would use CGI to recreate Ledger's performance with the help of unused audio takes of Ledger and a body double. Eventually, this was all settled when the final film included no reference to the Joker whatsoever. A few fan made storyboards popped up here and there including a minor Joker cameo.
