It will come as no surprise that I upgraded to the latest OS offering from Apple. In the last couple of weeks using Snow Leopard it has been a mixed bag. 95% of it is all very good. On the odd occasion Quicktime X does not work as I would want it to. Then there is something wrong with perhaps a memory leak, as I get lots of spinning beach balls and hangs. There is also a font issue with Quark Xpress and postscript type 1 fonts. Apart from that (which I can put up with) it is all pretty snappy and good. If you are remotely interested in photography then it is likely you will have a digital camera. However, if you have been in the game for a while, you may even have a album or two, or maybe even a shoebox with some real photographs. You remember, the ones that are paper, that you hold. Well, if you want to bring them into the digital age, you could do a lot worse than the Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner. Amazon Kindle now available to pre-order for the UK

Wow that is just awesome news for early morning on Wednesday October 7th. Amazon just put up news that the Kindle is now available to pre-order to UK addresses. That is the slight catch, you have to order it from their US website (www.amazon.com) and they ship it over here, soon after the October 19th release date. All for just $279, a pretty decent price considering the exchange rate at the moment.

The bad news is that we cannot (yet) order the Kindle DX... maybe that'll happen sooner rather than later.

Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1 Review

The Sony Cybershot DSC-WX1 offers so much on the feature list. You get a very compact camera, with a 10.2 megapixel sensor. Excellent lens with a 5x optical zoom. Plus features like high definition movie capture and smile detection. However, problems with 16GB memory sticks and noise whilst zooming will not do it any favours. Check out the two videos below, followed by some gallery photos taken with the camera.

Images showing photo taken at widest angle 24mm, then zoomed right in at 5x. Final panoramic photo was taken using the Sweep Panorama feature.
