How to install Apache, MySQL, and PHP 5.6 on CentOS 6 (LAMP)

If you find it tiresome like me to install LAMP on CentOS 6 but with PHP 5.6 then this step-by-step guide will walk you through to get up and running within 15 minutes.

Install MySQL

Update the system first.

sudo yum update

Download and add the repository then update again.

wget http://repo.mysql.com/mysql-community-release-el7-5.noarch.rpm
sudo rpm -ivh mysql-community-release-el7-5.noarch.rpm
yum update

Start MySQL

sudo yum install mysql-server
sudo systemctl start mysqld

Make MySQL secure

sudo mysql_secure_installation

Install Apache

Use the following commands to install and start Apache

sudo yum -y install httpd
sudo /etc/init.d/httpd start

Turn on external access of http (Port 80) and https (Port 443)

sudo iptables -I INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
sudo iptables -I INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 443 -j ACCEPT
sudo service iptables save

Install PHP 5.6

Add EPEL and REMI repo

wget https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-6.noarch.rpm
wget http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-6.rpm

rpm -Uvh remi-release-6*.rpm epel-release-latest-6.noarch.rpm

Now you need to enable the repo. Go to /etc/yum.repos.d and open remi.repo in text editor (i.e. vi)

cd /etc/yum.repos.d
vi remi.repo

Find the following sections and set enabled=1

[remi]
name=Remi's RPM repository for Enterprise Linux 6 - $basearch
#baseurl=http://rpms.remirepo.net/enterprise/6/remi/$basearch/
mirrorlist=http://rpms.remirepo.net/enterprise/6/remi/mirror
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-remi

[remi-php56]
name=Remi's PHP 5.6 RPM repository for Enterprise Linux 6 - $basearch
#baseurl=http://rpms.remirepo.net/enterprise/6/php56/$basearch/
mirrorlist=http://rpms.remirepo.net/enterprise/6/php56/mirror
# WARNING: If you enable this repository, you must also enable "remi"
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-remi

Finally install the PHP and restart httpd!

sudo yum install php php-gd php-mysql php-mcrypt
sudo /etc/init.d/httpd restart

At this point, you should have LAMP installed with PHP 5.6 and it's basic components.

How to install Apache, MySQL, and PHP 5.6 on CentOS (LAMP) in OFFLINE!

The basic steps for installing LAMP in offline CentOS servers in same for both CentOS 6.* and 7 but the syntax and packages are different. A generalized approach is described in this article. It is assumed that you run all of the commands as root.

Step 1: Get the necessary packages

The first step is to get the necessary packages from another CentOS system that has internet access. To install PHP 5.6 you might need to add EPEL and Remi repo. Please check the following posts to find out how to add them in your online CentOS system.

Now get the necessary packages with the following commands and copy them to your offline CentOS system.

yumdownloader --resolve php

repotrack -a x86_64 -p . php createrepo mysql-server

Step 2: Create a local repository in your offline CentOS system

Assuming you copies all of your packages under /tmp/rpms and you will use /home/local_repo as your local repository location. Now execute the following commands to create the repository.

mkdir /home/local_repo

mv /tmp/rpms/* /home/local_repo

chown -R root.root /home/local_repo

createrepo /home/local_repo

Now turn on the local repository creating a file /etc/yum.repos.d/local.repo with the following content.

[local]

name=CentOS - local packages

baseurl=file:///home/local_repo

enabled=1

gpgcheck=0

protect=1

Now if you execute the following command as test, you should see PHP 5.6 package is available.

yum list php

Step 3: Install the softwares and configure

yum install httpd

yum install my-server

yum install php php-devel php-mysql

/etc/init.d/httpd restart

iptables -I INPUT -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j ACCEPT

service iptables save

rpm -Uvh remi-release-7*.rpm

Otherwise

wget http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/e/epel-release-7-5.noarch.rpm
wget http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-7.rpm
rpm -Uvh remi-release-7*.rpm epel-release-7*.rpm

Now you need to enable the repo. Go to /etc/yum.repos.d and open remi.repo in text editor (i.e. vi)

cd /etc/yum.repos.d
vi remi.repo

Find the following sections and set enabled=1

[remi]
name=Remi's RPM repository for Enterprise Linux 7 - $basearch

Finally install the PHP!

sudo yum install php php-gd php-mysql php-mcrypt
sudo service httpd restart

At this point, you should have LAMP installed with PHP 5.6 and it's basic components.

Install PHP Redis in XAMPP on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Probably, you are here because you are trying to install phpredis in XAMPP on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. You might already tried the steps described in this git repo. The problem is soon you will realize that the php5-dev is not available for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Here I will try to explain all the steps to setup XAMPP with phpredis on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Install XAMPP

If you already have the XAMPP installed then skip to the next section. Otherwise, by following the steps below you can install XAMPP v5.6.21.

Open your terminal
Run the following command. This will download the installer.

wget https://www.apachefriends.org/xampp-files/5.6.21/xampp-linux-x64-5.6.21-0-installer.run

Make the installer executable

chmod +x xampp-linux-x64-5.6.21-0-installer.run

Run the installer

./xampp-linux-x64-5.6.21-0-installer.run

Following the instruction will install the XAMPP on default location /opt/lampp. During this installation process please select both "xampp core files" and "xampp developer files" to install both of them.

Install Redis Server

If you already have the Redis Server installed then skip to the next section. Otherwise, installed it by typing the following command in your terminal.

sudo apt-get install redis-server

Install "phpredis"

Install git

sudo apt-get install git

Run the following commands to get the source code from git

git clone git://github.com/nicolasff/phpredis.git && cd phpredis

Install autoconf

sudo apt-get install autoconf

Do phpize. By default the phpize should be in /opt/lampp/bin/phpize if you install XAMPP in /opt/lampp. If this is the case then type the following command in your terminal.

/opt/lampp/bin/phpize

Configure. Again, if /opt/lampp is not your installation directory then replace /opt/lampp with your installation path in the following command.

./configure --with-php-config=/opt/lampp/bin/php-config & make & sudo -s make install

Write the following line at the end of /opt/lampp/etc/php.ini file.

extension="redis.so"

Restart the XAMPP

sudo /opt/lampp/lampp restart

Today's discussion is about managing our audio files in an easy and fast way.

Most of us are well known to the application, "iTunes", but, installing that might take up a lot of space on your hard disk as well as a lot of RAM space while you are using it.
MP3tag is such an application which takes only about 7MB to install to your hard disk and requires 3MB of RAM space to run.

Another thing I almost forgot to mention is that till today I did not find an extension which is not supported by the program!

How to use it:

All you have to do is select the folder containing the files you want with this icon:

found on top left side of the interface.
Another screen pops out like this:

Select the folder containing your audio files and then click the button named "Select Folder"
You can either include subdirectories included in the interface.

Next thing you do in the main interface is select a single or multiple files and then on the left you can find multiple attributes for the file(s) you can edit, for example:

Album
Artist
Year
Track Number
Genre
Year
Title
Cover images
...........and much more!!

Speed up your PC, delete unnecessary events

For using windows, a lot of event files(log file) are created by windows. These files reserve PC's memory. And thus these files slow down our PC. As event files are unnecessary, you can delete them for improving your PC's speed. Just follow the following steps to do this.

Right click on My Computer.
Then click on Manage.
Now go to System Tools > Event Viewer > Application.
On the right side you will see a list of some Events.
To delete all these events, simply go to Action > Clear All Events.
For deleting directly select No.
If you select Yes then a backup will be created.

Turn off "Auto Run" in windows

When we insert a removal disk, an auto run dialogue box appears on the screen. Sometimes people find some troubles with it. So, many of us are more likely to stop auto run. You can turn off Auto Run in your PC just following the steps below.

Go to Start Menu > Run and write gpedit.msc in the Run dialogue box.
Then press Enter. A window titled Group Policy will appear.
Now go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System.
From the right side double click on Turn off Autoplay.
Click on Enabled.
Then select the device from Turn off Autoplay on for which you want to turn off auto run. If you want to turn off auto run for all device then select All Drives.
Now select Apply and then OK.

Now, in this post I am going to describe how you can add digg button in your post page. Before adding digg button let me say the importance of digg button. If you add digg button in your post page visitors will be able to digg your post directly from your blog. This will help you to get more traffic to your blog.
So, now let's move to the main point. Follow the steps below if you want to add a digg button in your blogspot blog.

Go to Blogger.com.
Log in with you Google e-mail and password.
From your Dashboard click on Layout.
Then click on Edit HTML.
Now at first back up your entire template clicking on Download Full Template.

Sometimes we are in a hurry. Then we have to turn off our PC directly. But this causes a great harm of our PC. So, I am now informing you about a new trick by which you will be able to turn off your PC within a second. This will not do any harm to your PC. Please follow my following steps to do that and notice what is happening.

Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Task manager will appear.
Then click on Shut Down.
Then press and hold Ctrl key in your keyboard and in the meantime click on Turn off.
Now your PC will shut down within a few seconds.

Check internet speed while browsing in Opera

Using Opera 9.2 or later versions you can check your internet speed while browsing. To do this, follow the steps below.

First go to Tools > Appearance.
Then click on Toolbars tab.
From Progress Bar dropdown menu select Pop-up at bottom.

Hide your desired hard drive
