The Turtles in Time remake was unveiled at last week's "Galabunga" event in New York City (via Ninja Pizza), which had been scheduled to debut the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party Van. It's still in alpha, but from the looks of it, it's already fairly far along. Two playable stages were offered at the event.
Notable is that this remake does not appear to be based on the Super Nintendo port, but the original arcade game. One difference between the two is that Tokka and Rahzar (from the film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II) were bosses on the pirate ship stage, and not Bebop and Rocksteady. That could mean certain elements are omitted, such as the battle with Rat King and the Technodrome.
source: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174027

"Producer Frank Marshall has just posted a comment on Twitter about when fans can see the teaser trailer for the upcoming M Night Shyamalan-directed "The Last Airbender."

"The teaser trailer for AIRBENDER will be attached to TRANSFORMERS," stated Marshall. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" hits theaters on June 24th.

Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film "The Last Airbender" is the opening chapter in Aang's struggle to survive. The story follows the adventures of the successor to a long line of Avatars who must put aside his irresponsible ways and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations."
source: http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=13233&count=0

"IESB caught up with Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman to ask him whether there is any truth to Ridley Scott wanting to make another "Alien" installment.

"There's been some talk," said Rothman. "Ridley is now working on 'Robin Hood,' but I think he's toying with the idea and that would be great for us. If you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing. So I've got my fingers crossed, all of them."

Last we heard, Sigourney Weaver was saying that it might be too late for the Alien, since it has already been overexposed in the two "AVP" films. She also mentioned that she has been discussing the fifth film with Ridley Scott, but one without the title character in it.

"What we're interested in is taking the character of Ripley and seeing what other science fiction story we can tell about someone who has lived several lives."
Gaaaah, gaaaaah gaaaaAAAWESOME!!!!
source: http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=13231&count=0

Rumors of a major PSP hardware redesign have repeatedly bubbled to the surface over the last several months -- some claiming the removal of the system's UMD disc drive, and others pointing to a second analog stick and sliding screen. According to sources directly involved with the new system, we have learned that Sony will quell those rumors by unveiling their revamped PSP at this year's E3 conference in June.
Many have speculated that the update would be called either the PSP 2 or PSP-4000, but our sources claim Sony will forgo a numerical moniker in favor of a subtitle. We've heard various rumored code names for the project (including PSP Slide, PSP Flip, and PSP Go!), but given that Sony has introduced the Go! brand of add-ons (the Go!View video on-demand service and 1.3 megapixel Go!Cam) for the European PSP, it seems likely that the new system will in fact be called the PSP Go! Our sources further confirm that this redesign will be available in two SKUs, with either eight or 16 GB of built-in flash memory. The system is set for release in Japan this September with a U.S. debut coming in either late October or early November.
source: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3173959

Seriously, guys and gals: Brace your asses for this one. ZootFly (which made its name with a now-halted Ghostbusters project) is making a game based on tough-talking, chain-wearing icon Mr.T.

But that's not even the good part. Here are some actual words from the actual press release we got, with liberal underlining and bolding: "The first game will see Mr. T take on Nazis and their gigantic machines in the varied universe of South American rain forests, lost ancient cities, industrial complexes and contemporary military installations. Along with Mr. T and other characters from the graphic novel, the game will feature none other than Will Wright. In this universe, Will Wright is not a top-notch game designer but a top-notch American geneticist who was kidnapped and coerced to work on a diabolic plan. Mr. T and Will Wright will join forces to annihilate the Nazis and their hardware."
source: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/27/mr-t-and-will-wright-team-up-against-nazis-in-zootfly-game/

Our old friend the countdown clock rears its ugly head once more, with Tu4ar.com possibly counting down to an announcement of the re-release of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The ESRB has rated it; official arcade sticks have been solicited and then removed; and potential achievements have been unearthed. Now a countdown clock at the website Tu4ar.com has fans hoping that an announcement is only six days and six hours away.

Why are people linking Tu4ar.com with Marvel vs Capcom 2? Well there's the large number 2 for starters, but perhaps more telling is the website's name. Anyone who played Marvel vs Capcom 2 for any length of time remembers the character select music, in which a soulful singer repeated "I wanna take you for a ride" over and over and over again. Tu4ar.com equals take you 4 a ride dot com.
source: http://kotaku.com/5221680/is-capcom-counting-down-to-marvel-vs-capcom-2

Via BBC News

Some sad news to start the week. Ron Silver, perhaps best known for his role as political strategist Bruno Gianelli in The West Wing, has died of cancer at 62. He had been fighting oesophageal cancer for two years.

He was Emmy-nominated for his West Wing role and won a Tony in 1988 for his work in the play Speed the Plow.
"Ron Silver died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him," said Robin Bronk of the Creative Coalition, a charity which Silver helped found.

The organisation, which educates and campaigns for free speech, was established in 1989.
Other founder members include Alec Baldwin and Susan Sarandon.

'9/11 Republican'
Born and raised in New York City, Silver's father worked in the garment industry and his mother was a teacher. He earned a master's degree in Chinese history from St. John's University in New York and studied drama at the Actors Studio. After several TV cameos in shows like Rhoda and The Rockford Files, he made his big screen debut in a 1976 comedy ensemble film, Tunnel Vision, alongside Chevy Chase and John Candy.

He remained in demand as a character actor and earned an Emmy nomination for the murder thriller Billionaire Boys Club. He also had roles in Timecop, Chicago Hope and Veronica's Closet. A long-time liberal activist, Silver became an outspoken supporter of President Bush after the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. He was a featured speaker at the 2004 Republican National Convention, and sometimes called himself a "9/11 Republican".

The actor said his shift in politics cost him jobs in Hollywood. In 2001, he joined Will Smith in the Muhammad Ali biopic, Ali, playing the boxing legend's equally legendary trainer, Angelo Dundee.

But it was his portrayal of the brilliant but volatile campaign adviser Gianelli on The West Wing that he became best known for in recent years.
Silver leaves his ex-wife Lynne Miller, with whom he had a son and a daughter.
source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7945589.stm

Via Variety.

Last September Marvel announced their release schedule for their forthcoming movies, such as Iron Man 2, Captain America, and Thor. Unfortunately amongst todays good news Re: the casting of Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2 comes the news that most of the Marvel project have been moved back.

Firstly Spider-Man 4 is now scheduled for May 6, 2011.
The Avengers is being pushed back from July 15, 2011 to May 4, 2012.

In a build-up to “Avengers,” Marvel is moving back the release of The First Avenger: Captain America from May 6, 2011 to July 22, 2011.

Thor is likewise moving, from July 16, 2010 to July 17, 2011.

“Iron Man 2’s” release date of May 7, 2010 remains unchanged.

Here's hoping Marvel don't switch the dates again.
source: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118001130.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

Finally, after weeks of will he, won't he, Mickey Rourke has finally been confirmed for Iron Man 2. He'll be playing Whiplash "a character that includes elements from that comicbook villain and Crimson Dynamo, another Russian baddie.". Here's what Variety had to say on the issue:

"Mickey Rourke has closed his deal to play the Russian villain in "Iron Man 2."

His involvement was expected (Daily Variety, Jan. 7), but dealmaking was arduous after Marvel Entertainment offered "The Wrestler" star only $250,000 for his first major studio film in years. Rourke's salary will be now better than that.

While his ICM rep, David Unger, battled for more dough, Rourke's encounters with "Iron Man" star Robert Downey Jr. on the awards circuit sealed his participation in the film.

Rourke won the Golden Globe and was Oscar nominated for "The Wrestler" and Downey got Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for "Tropic Thunder," so Downey used each occasion to recruit Rourke.

When Downey, Rourke as well as actors including Frank Langella and Anne Hathaway took part in a roundtable discussion with Newsweek's David Ansen, Downey interrupted the proceedings, reached across the table and flat out asked Rourke to do "Iron Man 2."

Rourke also met with Jon Favreau and scribe Justin Theroux and got to be part of the development of his character. He'll play Whiplash, a character that includes elements from that comicbook villain and Crimson Dynamo, another Russian baddie."

Via EmpireOnline.com

Oh how the fanboys will rejoince:
Just when you thought Megan Fox couldn’t possibly get any more perfect (she likes action movies and plays Guitar Hero and is pretty like a sunset), along comes the news that she’s signed on to star in not one, but two comic book movies – Jonah Hex and Fathom.

Yep, it turns out that the 22 year-old Transformers star is also a huge comic book fan.

Anyway, first up for Fox will be Jonah Hex, the sci-fi Western based on the DC character. Fox will take a supporting role in the Jimmy Hayward-directed movie as Leila, a gunslinger who provides the love interest for Josh Brolin’s scarred bounty hunter. John Malkovich will play a voodoo priest who wants to raise an army of the undead with a view to liberating the South.

That movie, which is already full to the brim with awesome, shoots in April.

Then – and this one seems closer to Fox’s heart – will come Fathom, based on the comic book of the same name by the late, great Michael Turner, one of Fox’s favourite artists.

Fox is set to star in that as Aspen, a young woman who finds out that she’s part of a race called The Blue, a group of humanoids who can control water. Of course, that’s only the tip of the iceberg…

Speaking of icebergs, James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment had held the rights to the Fathom movie, but they lapsed recently, allowing producer Peter Safran to package the movie and shop it around. Fox will not only star in the movie, but she’ll play an active part in developing it too, with a producer credit of some kind to come.

Fathom will obviously take longer than Jonah Hex, but we wish Fox well with both projects. She’ll next be seen, of course, in Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, a small indie movie about a giant robot that falls in love with a shy shopkeeper. Probably.
source: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=24312

Via EmpireOnline.com

Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to star in Inception, the first film post-Dark Knight for director Christopher Nolan.

As with virtually everything Nolan does, the project is shrouded in mystery, cloaked in secrecy and swaddled in subterfuge – all that is known about it is that it’s a contemporary sci-fi action movie set within the architecture of the mind.

DiCaprio, who’s at the no red M&Ms stage of negotiations, has been attached to sci-fi projects before, notably the Kurt Vonnegut adaptation Cat’s Cradle. But this would mark his first official foray into the genre… unless you count Critters 3. And nobody counts Critters 3.

The casting, of course, won’t stop there. Rumour has it that Ellen Page is this close to signing on to the movie, which will start shooting later this summer. Warner Bros. is raiding the piggybank for this one.
source: http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=24311
