Which shortcuts do you use most frequently? The answer is clear – Ctrl+V and Ctrl+C. If we take away these two shortcuts the efficiency and speed of any person who works with computers will decrease significantly.

We use OS X clipboard pretty often and a lot of information passes through it. The best way would be store at least a big part of this information in a stack. But the problem is that a regular clipboard can store only the latest piece of information. If you want to save to clipboard another piece of information, the previous one will be deleted.But modern developers have solved this problem. There several apps that help you to enlarge your clipboard. Among them is CopyLess, the one I’d like to tell you about.

The first thing you notice about this app is that its icon looks pretty much the same as that of Adobe. In general, design is not the most attractive part of this application. But at the same time it’s not the most important one either. Let’s talk about the functional of the app.

CopyLess always works in a background mode and saves everything that goes to the clipboard. The maximum size of a stack is 100 notes. In order to launch the start window you may use Shift+Cmd+V shortcut. The app remembers the position it appeared last time and will appear in the same place on the screen. Alongside with each note there’s time and the icon of a program in which you pressed Ctrl+C. The most used information can be saved to Favorites and you may set shortcuts for these pieces. So this may become an alternative to regular copypasting of some useful information

Other important functions of the app include app search, insert without formatting, the move of the object into the beginning of the stack after each inserting, apps filter, multilanguage support. Also, you may find a Lite version of the CopyLess in the App Store. The only difference of this version from the full one is that it saves 10 notes instead of 100 in the main area and only 3 notes in the Favorites.

So if we take into consideration the functional of the app, then I can say that this is the best copypaste app so far. But still the developers might have paid a bit more attention to the design of the app.

You can also select the layout option in two ways - Thumbnails or List and I think the thumbnail view looks better as it give a better look of the shelve.

Like I mentioned earlier, pressreader understands the importance of your time and hence there is an option of reading the top stories. Now the best part is you are change these headlines. For example, imagine your wife and kids went for Christmas celebration to their granny's place but you could and hence you are worried about the storm which is getting worse. You can select the local newspaper of the city where your family has gone and keep checking the headlines for any latest news.

You can select the news from various sources, either by browsing through the most viewed newspaper or in an alphabetical order or if you are impatient then you can select the one with the most recent timestamp. The point that I'd like to highlight about press reader here is that you have got multiple resources to get updated with the latest news. You can either casually view the most popular newspaper or view the most recent newspaper.

Auto Subscription :

While downloading a newspaper, you will notice an option that says auto subscribe, this feature will allow your app to automatically look for an update for the newspaper or the magazine that is being downloaded and then automatically download it by notifying you.

You need to be very sure if you are enabling this feature as it will automatically purchase the next update and then download it. If you want to disable the auto subscription, all you need to do is go to settings and disable auto subscription.

PressReader has convenient pricing plans. you can either opt for a monthly subscription of $29.95 or go with the option of paying $0.99 for every download. If you spend a lot of time reading, then a monthly subscription is advisable.

If you have followed our recent posts, we were discussing about today's event where Apple had plans to announce new iPad. We'll, it is indeed true and here is the big news, Apple has just announced new iPad Mini with a smaller screen which is quite obvious to Eddy Cue's statement that there exists a 7 inch tablet market and so Apple needs to have product of their own right into that market. The new iPad mini has the same display when talking about pixels so the developers need not make new apps to support iPad mini. In Fact they wouldn't even have to update their existing apps, the apps will just work as if they were designed for iPad mini.

Tomorrow is the big day when Apple is going to announce a redesigned iPad mini and as the name suggests,, this iPad will be of a smaller size with 7.85 inch diagonally. The reason for introducing a 7 inch iPad is to compete with Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire. It is quite obvious that the new iPad mini will feature a lightening connector like that of iPhone 5.

The concept of a 7 inch iPad was earlier coined while Steve Jobs was still alive but he wouldn't accept it considering it as a waste because of the smaller screen size and instead proposed 10 inch screen as a minimum requirement. The ideology behind the 7 inch iPad came from Apple's senior vice president, Eddy Cue who strongly believes that there is a market in 7 inch screen devices and hence Apple should have a smaller iPad too.

It is a known fact that Apple gives a lot of thinking before releasing a product and the reason behind having a 7.85 inch iPad instead of 7 inch is because this will help the developers an easy way to upgrade their apps. With a 7.85 inch screen, the iPad mini can still run all the applications that run on iPad and iPhone. The only work that developers will have to upgrade their apps would be to adjust the corners to match the iPad mini screen.

Internally, the iPad mini is believed to be built using the same components as last year's iPad 2. That means the same CPU (A5), same RAM (512 MB) and same GPU. It also means the screen is not expected to be a "Retina" display. Instead, it will be same 1024x768 resolution as the iPad 2 -- though at a higher pixel density due to the smaller screen. - Macrumors

iOS 6 Tethered Jailbreak Released - Redsn0w 0.9.15b2 For iPhone, iPod And iPad

It has been a while since we had iOS 6 on our devices and waiting desperately to jailbreak the device and get Cydia working on them to install various tweaks and to theme up the device. iPhone Dev-Team has released redsn0w that can provide a tethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. The jailbreak works is only for A4 devices and should not be tried on A5 devices like iPhone4S and beyond. This version of redsn0w also bring a relief for those iPad 3 users who have been waiting for restore option on iOS 5.1.1. Redsn0w now allows A5 devices to re-restore their devices back to iOS 5.1.1 on the condition that the device is still on iOS 5.1.1 and that the shsh blobs are saved for that device. The following are the features of redsn0w 0.9.15b2

Restore from any 5.x iOS to any other (up, down or the same) 5.x iOS on all devices as long as you have the correct blobs (see more below)
Cydia now included in the tethered 6.0 jailbreak on A4 devices
Automatically “Just Boot” tethered when qualifying A4 device connects in DFU mode
Untethered 6.0 jailbreak on old-bootrom 3GS
Untethered 6.0 hactivation on any 3GS or iPhone4
Directly restore pre-A5 devices to earlier firmware — no more complicated 15-step how-to’s with stitching, iTunes errors, and “hosts file” concerns
Fetch new signed blobs for any IPSW (present or future — no redsn0w update required) using Extras->SHSH Blobs->New
Block the BB update for any 3GS or iPhone4 restore (past, present, or future — no redsn0w update required) using Extras->Even More->Restore
Deactivate any iPhone, useful for testing your “official” unlock status through iTunes. (Please only deactivate your own iPhone!)
Activation status shown on “Even more” page
Significantly more (very nerdy) info returned by “Identify” button when device is in Normal mode
Tethered jailbreak of ATV2 supported (but the only thing available for it is the SSH2 custom bundle available here — no Cydia yet. Must use “Select IPSW” for tethered boot of ATV2 for now).
Auto-exit WTF mode for older devices with broken buttons
any time a set of blobs is fetched remotely (from Apple or Cydia), redsn0w also saves them locally (and will check there first if you click “Local”)
For your future restoring convenience, you should also submit all of your past and present TinyUmbrella blobs to Cydia if you haven’t done so yet. Resubmitting is okay and won’t cause conflicts.

More Features

1. Redsn0w now lets you restore an A5+ device from any iOS5 to any other iOS5 as long as you have correct 5.x blobs for the starting (current) and ending points of the restore

APtickets eliminated “higher-version only” comparison of firmware restores (just like BBtickets did for the baseband)
Example restores supported by redsn0w if you have the correct blobs: 5.1.1-to-5.0.1, 5.0.1-to-5.1.1, 5.1.1-to-5.1.1, 5.0.1-to-5.0.1
If you don’t have the blobs locally, let redsn0w try to fetch them remotely (redsn0w always tries both Apple and Cydia). Any succesful remote fetch also saves a local copy too.

2. You DO NOT QUALIFY for iOS5-to-iOS5 restores if you got to your current 5.x via an OTA update

the tickets saved by Cydia, redsn0w, and TinyUmbrella do not cover OTA update ramdisk images

Even if they did, it’s the “wrong kind” of ramdisk (you’d need to start at that earlier pre-OTA FW)
Devices fresh from factory or refurb may fall in the “does not qualify” category (your results will vary)
It’s okay if you previously got to 5.x via an OTA update, as long as your current 5.x was installed via a normal iTunes restore. All that matters is how you got to your current 5.x most recently
Redsn0w detects an OTA/normal-restore APticket mismatch very early, so if you don’t know your status there should be no harm in trying. Any device in recovery mode after such a mismatch can boot normally again just by going back to “Even More” screen from the “Restore” screen (or use “Recovery Fix” if you quit redsn0w before doing that).

3. Unlike the A4 devices, redsn0w can’t (usefully) prevent the baseband updates of A5+ iPhones and iPads.

And so, redsn0w automatically flashes the currently signed baseband when it does A5+ restores, even if those basebands didn’t come with the original firmware
Stay away from this if you have an unofficial unlock that isn’t supported by the newest baseband
The least-tested baseband update code in redsn0w is for iPad2,3 and iPad3,2. Please give any feedback on those iOS5 restores in the comments section below.

4. iPad2 owners (all three models) with saved 4.x blobs can use those instead, even from 6.x

If you have both 4.x and 5.x iPad2 blobs, you can always get to 5.x via the 4.x blobs, even if you’re currently on 6.x
You cannot get to 5.x from 6.x without the 4.x blobs (but you may still qualify for the iOS5-to-iOS5 restore described above)
If somehow you have 4.x blobs but no 5.x blobs, you can still go down to 4.x from 6.x
This only applies to iPad2 owners (they’re the only A5+ devices that ever had a public 4.x FW)
Redsn0w still supports (but doesn’t require) jailbreaking A5+ devices at 5.0.1 and 5.1.1. Just head back to the first page after re-restoring to 5.x. It’s always much faster to jailbreak those FW versions with a freshly-restored device, before letting iTunes restore from a saved userland backup.

5. ultrasn0w isn’t yet updated for 6.x

By now you probably should be taking advantage of the extremely cheap IMEI-based unlocks of iPhones sold by established online retailers like http://cutyoursim.com
Still, IMEI-based unlocks don’t work in all cases. We’ll announce when ultrasn0w is ported up to 6.x
Redsn0w will still hactivate your 3GS or iPhone4 if you run it before the device is activated. Due to the current tethered 6.x JB status, redsn0w now hactivates 6.x without requiring subsequent tethered boots. Recent developments indicate that UK consumers may be able to use LTE much sooner than anticipated, and the iPhone 5 will be one of the only LTE phones available in the UK when LTE goes live later this month.

Slow Progress

The United Kingdom is a bit behind other countries when it comes to updating its communications infrastructure. The upgrade to LTE has been hampered in the UK due to a combination dithering politicians and regulatory bodies, but recently with the announcement of the new network EE, development has started to pick up pace.

LTE could not be introduced into the UK earlier because all of the existing radio spectrum was already in use. With the demise of analogue TV the government announced plans to auction the newly available chunks of radio spectrum to the UK networks, but has been very slow in getting the auction organised.

Everything Everywhere

Everything Everywhere, which is the partnership between two major UK networks, Orange and T-Mobile, already had some of its existing radio spectrum which was not being used, and was granted permission by the regulatory body Ofcom to start offering LTE prior to the official 4G auction.

This move means that the UK has gone from barely a glimpse of 4G on the horizon to most likely having LTE services available within a month.

Auction to be Brought Forward

The advantage that EE has gained in setting up its LTE networks early has angered its leading competitors, who have forced the government to introduce the auction much sooner. If current talks are effective, EE's main competitors could also be offering LTE by the end of 2012.

But because for a long time LTE has seemed like a far-off fantasy, there are currently few handsets in the UK that offer LTE compatibility. Earlier LTE phones, like the Motorola Atrix and the Samsung Galaxy S3, had their LTE support removed when they were released in Britain.

iPhone 5 Currently Offers LTE

Because of this, the new iPhone's timely launch just before EE begins to offer LTE means that it could be the first phone in the UK to enjoy 4G download speeds. EE will offer a small number of other devices, from HTC and Nokia, as well as a re-released Galaxy S3, but many existing Orange and T-Mobile iPhone 5 owners will be able to switch over to EE on the day it goes live rather than having to wait for a new phone to be delivered.

EE will start to offer LTE at the end of October while other networks are yet to confirm when their 4G services will become available.

The new iPhone 5, along with the new iPods, comes with a new connector that Apple has named the Lightning connector. This 8 pin connector is much smaller than the previous 30 pin connector that Apple has been using for the past decade or so. This big yet subtle change in the dock connector will directly affect all those who already own any of the Apple devices and of course those who purchase the new ones. According to Apple, the new connector has some serious benefits to offer :

The data flow will be faster with the new cable.

Therefore, the new iPad is the only Apple device of the current generation to be using the 30 pin connector. This will obviously change soon, since any move made by Apple with one device rolls out to the others as well.

Fix iTunes Sync Error - This iPhone Cannot Be Used Because The Apple Mobile Device Service Is Not Started

iTunes as we all know is the back bone of every iPhone, iPad and iPod. It is the sole medium through which you can add or remove data from your apple device. iTunes helps the iOS users bu not just taking regular backups but also in syncing new data into the device like music, videos, TV shows etc. Perhaps every thing you find in your device is coming from iTunes. What if there is some problem and you are unable to sync your device ? Is there any alternate for iTunes that will allow you to do all the operations that are presently handled efficiently by iTunes ?

There is common iTunes sync error that happens with windows users - this iPhone cannot be used because the apple mobile device service is not started - It is quite an infuriating situation where you pull your hair to get iTunes sync iPhone but it wouldn't and you really can't do anything. There is a simple work around to fix such iTunes error that prevents in syncing the device.

Explanation : The error message is pretty clear - the service that is mandatory to make the sync between iPhone and iTunes happen is not running and its quite obvious that sync won't happen. You need to try to re-enable the apple mobile device service that has stopped for some reason. The reason could be either your antivirus blocking the service or you have configured your windows such that it wouldn't let any start up service other than the necessary service to run (diagnostic mode)

How to Fix iTunes Sync Error

Following the below steps, one can restore the apple mobile device service that is blocked and is not running for some reason.

Step 1 : Update and re-install iTunes. Yes this is the dumbest thing to do but sometimes, installation files could get corrupt and some thing leads to another. Try re-installing iTunes and if this does not help, proceed with the next step.

Step 2 : Click on the windows icon (Windows 7 & Windows Vista users) and type "msconfig" and press enter. Windows xp users click on start=> run => type "msconfig" and press enter

Once you type "msconfig" and press enter, you should see a pop up box like the screenshot below

Click on Startup to check if any Apple services are blocked. Make sure that all Apple startup program are running. Click on Manufacturer, this will help you sort the programs with the manufacturers name. If you see any Apple program that is not checked, you might want to check it.

Now, click on the services tab to check if any of the Apple service are blocked or disabled. The three Apple services need to be enabled always. There is no reason to disable the services. If you disable Apple Mobile Device service, your iOS device will no longer get recognized when you connect it to your computer. Similarly, if you disable bonjour service, you won't be able to launch iTunes and will get the error message saying - bonjour service is disabled.

Make sure you enable all the Apple service by clicking on Manufacturer that will sort the services in stack according to the manufacturer. Enable the following services :

Apple Mobile Device
Bonjour Service
iPod Service

Step 3 : Once done, click on OK and restart your computer. This should probably fix the issue and you should now be able to sync your device in iTunes. If the error persists, you need to disable your antivirus or check and manually whitelist Apple Mobile Device service in order to allow the antivirus to run apple services.

Earlier we discussed that a new Cydia tweak - Bridge allows users to manually add songs to the music app for iOS without having to sync their device and thereby reducing time that is usually taken to add music to Apple devices. Bridge is very reliable and lets you import the downloaded music that can be sitting in any folder of your iOS device. However, this app is limited to those who have jailbroken iOS devices. To be able to use this tweak and save your time, you need to have a jailbroken device running iOS 5.1.1 or higher. Those who have already upgraded their devices to iOS 6 need not worry as it works perfectly well on tethered jailbreak too.

Adding Music Without iTunes Sync

Step 1 : Launch Bridge and go to the files tab.

Step 2 : From the list of folders, browse to the folder location where you have downloaded the music. If you have used Safari Download Manager to download music files then the default location for the downloaded files would be var/mobile/media/downloads

Step 2 : Select the song from your music that you'd like to edit and set as ringtone.

Step 3 : Customize the length and the starting and ending point of the ringtone. You can also add fade-in and fade-out effects.

Step 4 : Save the ringtone.

Step 5 : Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes.

Step 6 : Wait for iTunes to list your iPhone 5 and once it does click on it.

Step 7 : Click on the apps tab

Step 8 : Scroll down and from the list of applications, select the application that you have used to create the ringtone. You should see a .m4a extension file which is the ringtone that you have just created.

Step 9 : Click on the ringtone and select the option "save as" to save in your computer.

Step 10 : Go to the ringtones tab in iTunes and drag and drop the ringtone that you have downloaded into your computer from the iPhone.

Step 11 : That's it, once sync is complete you should be able to see the newly created ringtone in your iPhone in settings/general/sounds/ringtones folder

Downgrading iOS 6.0 To 5.1.1 - How To Downgrade iOS 6.0 To 5.1.1 Firmware

With iOS 6 updates notifications in iTunes and alert messages on iPhones and iPads and iPods, most of the iOS users have already updated their devices to the latest iOS 6 firmware that was released earlier this week. For many it was excitement to receive the iOS 6 update but for many users who rely on jailbreak the iOS 6 update was an accident. Although chpwn has confirmed that he was successful in jailbreaking iOS 6 there is no ETA on the public release of the jailbreak.

Wish you could go back to iOS 5.1.1 ? Well there is a way. You can downgrade your iOS device, iPhone, iPad and iPod from iOS 6.0 to 5.1.1 on the condition that you have your device's SHSH blobs saved. The below guide will help you downgrade iOS device firmware from 6.0 to 5.1.1. Its highly recommended for every iPhone, iPad and iPod user to take a back up of shsh blobs if they want to be able to downgrade their device firmware in future. If you havent already taken the backup of your device shsh blobs, follow the steps posted here

Downgrading iOS 6 To 5.1.1 Firmware

IMP : This tutorial will work as long as Apple is signing iOS 5.1.1 firmware. Once Apple stops, this tutorial will not work and a new tutorial will be posted on how to downgrade.

Step 1 : Download iOS 5.1.1 for your device

iPhone Firmware

iPod Firmwares

Step 2 : Download the latest version of iTunes - Download Link

Step 3 : Put your device into DFU mode

Instructions To Enter DFU mode

Connect your device to the computer and Switch off your device
Press Power button for 3 seconds
Without releasing the power button, press and hold the home button for 10 seconds.
Now release the power button but continue holding the home button for 20 seconds.
You are in DFU mode now.

Step 4 : iTunes should pop open with an alert saying that "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode" - This is supposed to happen.

Step 5 : If you are a windows user, press the shift key and then click on the restore button. If you are a Mac user, you need to hold the option key and then click on the restore button.

Step 6 : iTunes should pop open a window for you to browse the iOS 5.1.1 firmware file. Locate the firmware downloaded in Step 1 and proceed.

Step 7 : Sit back and wait for iTunes to verify the firmware with Apple servers and then restore your device to iOS 5.1.1.

Once the restore is complete, iTunes will restart your device and you should now have iOS 5.1.1 running on your device. Downgrade successful.

Apple has officially announced iOS 6 and made it available for all the supported devices on 19th of this month. Users who have not yet downloaded the firmware and updated the device can go head to the download links below to download iOS 6.

If you rely on jailbreak then you should stay away from iOS 6 until the jailbreak community gives a green signal to upgrade your devices. Apple has commercially launched the next generation iPhone 5 yesterday and to make this launch even more exciting, popular jailbreak developer chpwn has confirmed that he was successful in jailbreaking his iPhone 5, yes that's true! The developer has also posted a screenshot from his iPhone 5 showing Cydia icon that appears only after the device is jailbroken.

Right after sharing the above pic on twitter, followers started doubting his work so Chpwn has uploaded even more pics that not just confirms that its iPhone 5 but also that it is jailbroken. There is no ETA on when the jailbreak will be available for public. Last time after the release of iOS 5, it was Pod2G to work on the jailbreak and released it during the conference where the chronic dev team gave a talk on the process of jailbreak and "Absinthe" jailbreak tool was announced right after the event.

It usually takes another 2-3 months after the initial success of jailbreak as it needs to be checked on various available models and then it needs to be incorporated into a user friendly executable file so that it becomes easy for the users to jailbreak their device.
