It was the first disc golf tournament for 10 of the 32 players, and the first time playing disc golf ever for 2 players. The weather was incredibly kind for May in Geelong, with no rain and not even a breath of wind! It was also Tournament Director Clare Hussey’s first time in the director’s seat.

The Trash Panda recycled plastic discs and minis were well received and players enjoyed a lunch at the Skinny Dippers cafe in Newtown.

Prizes and gifts were donated by: Steve Hansen, GDGC, Cassie Sweetten and Handcrafted Gifts Treasure Trove.

Nestled within the stunning Deakin University campus at Waurn Ponds, this nine-hole course offers a thrilling blend of challenges for players of all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or picking up a disc for the first time, this course is well worth the trip down from Melbourne.

A Unique Layout to Test Your Skills

The Geelong Disc Golf Club has worked tirelessly to bring this course to life, and it shows in every throw. Expect a diverse layout featuring wooded holes that demand precision, water carries for the brave, and open fairways where you can let your drives soar. And this is just the beginning—plans are already underway to expand to 18 tees, doubling the fun in the near future!

The 15th annual Rudolph Riot disc golf tournament lit up the Waurn Ponds campus of Deakin University on December 7th and 8th, delivering two days of thrilling competition and festive cheer.

Hosted by the Geelong Disc Golf Ultimate Club, this year’s event featured a brand-new temporary course that challenged players with its diverse layout, including elevation changes, water carries, wooded areas, and long fairways.

A Tournament to Remember

Sponsored by Yikun Discs, the event treated every participant to a custom-stamped tournament disc, a keepsake to commemorate the occasion. With players from across the state competing in various divisions, the spirit of camaraderie and competition was palpable throughout the weekend.

A massive thank-you goes to the Geelong Disc Golf Ultimate Club’s volunteers, whose hard work and dedication ensured the event’s success. From designing and setting up the temporary course to managing logistics and creating a welcoming atmosphere, their efforts were truly remarkable.

Raw Score Hot Round was taken out by Ethan Lewis and Ryan Michell with a three under par 54!

HC Winner (pictured) was Glen Ralston with a 2 over 59 which after HC was 43! Well done to Glen who takes home the “King Pin” for August 2024!
