Join in for one of San Diego’s most picturesque 3 mile dog friendly hikes up the 1,592′ Cowles Mountain with ocean breezes and a panoramic view at the top and help to brighten a sick child’s holiday season at the same time!   All donations go to the production of Holiday Magic, a Gift for Children of All Ages 2010 CD’s to be distributed worldwide to sick kids who are not able to leave the hospital for the holidays and their siblings who often feel neglected.

From Interstate 8 – Take 8 to the College Avenue exit. Proceed north on College Avenue 1.0 miles to Navajo Road. Turn right and proceed on Navajo Road 1.9 miles to Golfcrest Drive. Turn left on Golfcrest Drive to enter parking lot.

From Route 52 – Take 52 to the Mast Blvd. exit in Santee. Driving east, turn left onto Mast Blvd., go under the freeway to the first traffic signal (West Hills Parkway) and turn right. Driving west, turn right onto Mast Blvd. and right onto West Hills Parkway. Take West Hills Parkway to Mission Gorge Road and turn right. Proceed down Mission Gorge Road 1.9 miles to Golfcrest Drive. Turn left onto Golfcrest Drive and proceed to the top of the hill. The staging area is on the left at the intersection of Navajo Road and Golfcrest Drive.

From Route 125 – Take 125 north to Mission Gorge Road. Exit at Mission Gorge Road and make a left. Proceed down Mission Gorge Road 3.3 miles to Golfcrest Drive. Turn left onto Golfcrest Drive and proceed 1 mile to the top of the hill. The staging area is on the left at the intersection of Navajo Road and Golfcrest Drive.

Talented voice actress Penny Abshire has created the lovely character voice of Mrs. Claus for Holiday Magic!  This year Mrs. Claus gets pulled over by the NPSP, North Pole Sky Patrolfor driving the sleigh a little too fast!  Can’t wait to hear Mrs. Claus response!

The story has been written and the voice talent are busy at work. This is the lovely and talented Heather Martinez in Los Angeles who is the voice of Kate the adventurous reindeer from Milwaukee! She’s the one on the CD cover with the big eyelashes! Due to several requests the submission deadline for this years CD has been EXTENDED to October 22nd. On 9/11/01 I had the fortune of filling in for Sam Bass on the air. It was a day on the air like no other.  Reporting the news as it happened and trying to calm people on the phone who had no one to talk to and were as confused about what was happening as all of the rest of us.   As you know it was a horrific day and I recall as I left the radio station many hours later exhausted how grateful that I was on the air for Sam and could be of service to our listeners.   Our KyXy team truly pulled together as did the rest of the country in the coming days and months.   My request today is we remember what it was like to come together and be there for each other and take action on  without having to experience another horrific event.   What can you do today to help bring out community closer together?  What selfless act of love can you do for someone else?  Especially someone you don’t even know.   I have the fortune to be on the air again today, 9/11/10, and it will be a very different show.  However, I will not forget what happened nine years ago and those that gave there lives including my friend Deborah’s daughter who went down with Flight 93 in Pennsylvania.   I did not post pictures of that day so that it may be your choice, but if you really want to remember the events of 9/11/01, I suggest you Google “9/11 photos.”   Tune in today and enjoy the great music that we always play on KyXy and Never Forget 9/11/01.  See ya on the radio!  ~Jeff Gelder aka GelderHead
