We are very happy to announce the winner of a raffle during the Inhorgenta fair in Munich:
Mr. Wolfram Schinko knew the correct answer to the prize question (how many hours does the battery last?) and won a microscope MSL4000-10/30-IL-TL.

The correct answer is 25 hours.

Glad to see you again!

That’s what we thought when we were offered to buy back this spectrophotometer (Kirchhoff-Bunsen principle). The estimated year of manufacture is 1908. After more than 100 years of duty, the spectrophotometer is now retired and allowed to spend the rest of its days safe and sound in a glass cabinet in our Krüss museum.

Little helper at the speedway: handheld refractometer DR101-60

Let’s get out of the laboratory and into sports today, and see how a digital handheld refractometer is a useful tool on motorcycle speedways.

Spotlight on our sturdy, robust ‘speedway star’, the KRÜSS DR101-60, testing methanol at the speedway league ‘Elitserien’ in Vetlanda, Sweden. Measurement is done by calibrating the device with methanol instead of water. Any contamination of methanol will be shown as an increase of the refractive index.

Conny Samuelsson (FIM/SVEMO) took the probes. He was an active speedracer during 1968-1985 and vice world champion in Inzell, 1977.

Movie Clip: Stefan Wegner from Kruess shows the range of refractometers paying particular attention to the DR6000 benchtop digital refractometer.

The DR6000 features an easy to use touchscreen interface with multiple language facility and PC communications. It can also connect back to the factory for repairs if possible.

The DR6000 is available in different models that can measure liquid samples with refractive indices between 1.32 to 1.58 and 1.32 to 1.7.
