My Day In London - Part 1 | Gemma Rose

Well hello again...

Oh I know I know, where have I been?

I've been missing you guys!

I don't know what happened, I made a great comeback on my blog but now I seem to be back to square one...

I have recently started making videos on my YouTube channel, just the occasional one here and there :)

I feel like a bit of a traitor though.

I've missed my blog!

Recently I've started taking my camera with me more places and snapping the occasional shot of something that catches my eye.

I have decided to make my blog a whole lot more lifestyle themed.

I occasionally look back at Zoe's blog posts from 2009 (6 years!!) and read all of them from the very first one that's actually available to see. Her small posts and random snaps of places of people really do inspire me.

I shall try and get a new post up in this theme ASAP and until next time,

October Favourites | Gemma Rose

Hello everybody!

Here are some of my October Favourites..

First of all.. lets just stop and look at this. BIODERMA. So I recently went to Paris (let me know if you'd like a post about that?) and one of the things I picked up was this. I purchased the largest bottle in a pack of two, one for Grace and one for me! I can literally rave about this product for ever, it cleanses and removes makeup like a charm. I just use a textured cotton pad from boots to apply it.

The next thing is also skincare related. So Sarah (http://sarahspacex.blogspot.co.uk/) reccomended this to me while I was in Boots. I had been needing a new face wash so it was the perfect opportunity. I really love this to cleanse my face of any chemicals previously applied in the process of removing my makeup.

The next thing is a fragrance from Victoria's Secret. Love Spell is one of my favourite scents from VS and as it says on the label it smells of Cherry Blossom and Peach. It's a really floral and flirty scent but has a deeper scent if that makes any scents (get the pun?!)

The next thing are these Christmas Pudding pyjama bottoms from New Look. These are literally my life.. I love getting changed into them after a tiring day of school and the print gets me in the festive mood!

The next thing is this Yankee Candle in the scent Fireside Treats. It is by far my all time favourite Yankee Scent which is great for Autumn and Winter!

Next is this eye makeup remover from Sephora. I also got this in Paris and it is really useful to remove my Benefit Eyeliner (later featured in this post!)

I have really been loving the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer at the moment! It has really buildable coverage for under the eyes, just make sure you don't put it on any blemishes or spots as it is a highlighting concealer!

My 5 Autumn Makeup Essentials | Gemma Rose

My first Autumn makeup essential is the Benefit They're Real Mascara. I think darker and bolder eye makeup is more acceptable in colder months and this gives my lashes so much volume and length!
Second is the Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner which goes hand in hand with the mascara!
Thirdly is the Clinique Lipstick in 92 Tender Heart. This is a gorgeous nudey- brown which I loveee either on it's own for a natural look or to tone down a brighter red.
Next is a Mac Lipstick in Fanfare. It's also a CremeSheen. It's not a very autumnal colour but I think it pairs nicely with a matte brown smokey eye.
Lastly is the MUA Blusher in Bon Bon. Again, this is a blusher that goes nicely with matte smokey eyes and overall just great for an everyday Blusher.

Cat Makeup Tutorial for Halloween | Gemma Rose

First you are just going to do your everyday facial makeup, I didn't do that because I was just having a lazy day at the time so I didn't see much point just for a tutorial that was mainly based on the eyes!
Then draw a thick and dramatic cat eye (ha no pun intended)
After that, do your eyeshadow. I know it seems a bit weird to do the eyeshadow after the eyeliner but I didn't want to smudge when I was doing my eyeliner. For eyeshadow I put a shimmery champagne colour all over the lid (avoiding the eye lined area) and then a matt brown in the crease. Lastly I blended before adding a deep berry colour in my outer V where there was no eyeliner.
After that I went back over the eyeliner with a liquid pen and waited for that to dry.
I then used a sparkly clear eyeliner to go over the wing to add some shimmer.
For lips I used I brown eyeliner and blended that in. I then used a Clinique Lipstick in 92 Tender Heart to add some shine and colour.
Finally I drew on some whiskers and freckles above my upper lip to make me look like a cat!!

Autumn Room Decor | Gemma Rose

The first idea is to go outside and pick up some leaves in a decent condition (no rips, nice colour etc) and pin them up on some twine or fairy lights. I just used these little wooden pegs from Waterstones to secure them in place.
The next thing you can do is to once again find some leaves and I also used some fake green leaves as you may not find any at this time of year as they have probably all turned brown! I kept a large tumbler from Starbucks and just filled it into the lid and I think it's a really cute idea!
The next thing I did is not very autumnal themed but does look really nice as a contrast with the brown-reddish leaves. I saved an aesthetically pleasing bottle from some ginger beer and then purchased some fake ivory roses from The Range which were £4.49. I then filled the bottom of the bottle with these little balls which were originally sold in a pot to be air freshener that are really squishy and fun! They are purple which goes really nicely with the ivory roses. At first I had trouble putting the flowers into the bottle as the fake leaves blocked it but it was actually made so you could pull some off and replace them again if necessary (that's where the fake leaves for the Starbucks Cup idea were from!)
Lastly I purchased this small candle holder from a small shop in a village in the Peak District and put some of my favourite Yankee Candle Votives in there. The one I am currently burning is called "Fireside Treats" And is probably one of my all time faves.

Hello everybody...

Well yes it's been a while- okay I admit it but lets just move on from that ;)

I had (quite a large) break from my blog, I guess I just felt like there was nothing much to post and summer seemed to be drawing on and on and on... and I had run out of posts in the summer genre as it were and...

My intention of this post really is not just to bore you with my excuses.

I am genuinely sorry for my lack of posting, but after reading people's blogs from a similar category as me, it felt like I had just given up, and I really haven't.

So, lets get back into this.

I have deleted some of my previous posts that I wasn't happy with, I would've deleted almost all of them but I need SOME content to amuse you on those rainy days when you are so awfully bored.

Maybelline Baby Skin Review! x

Hey Everyone!

Today I am going to be reviewing the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer.

I bought this product about 2 months ago, and I use it on days when I wear a bit more makeup.

There are MANY mixed reviews on this product, some people think it's a waste of money, some people think it's a great use of money! I am one of the people who think it's a great use of money. It is supposed to be compared to the Benefit Porefessional Primer, which is quite a price difference. I haven't tried the Benefit product myself, so I can't give you a verdict of that point of view, but I can for every other!

First thing, I LOVE the packaging, but the bottle itself is quite small (22ml) It's about the size of the one you can see on the screen. I wasn't worried about how much I could get out of it, as I knew from the beginning you really only need a tiny bit. But after 2 months of using it (I don't use it every every day) I found the amount in the bottle seemed to have reduced... Even though I only put it on the places I need it such as under the eyes, nose, around the nose and generally the middle area of the face I found myself wondering how it had gone down so much... I think the bottle is actually bigger than the amount of product inside which slightly disappointed me.

I really like the texture of the primer, and it leaves my face feeling smooth and has a flawless finish. As far as reducing pores, I don't think it does THAT much for me but I know it has a different effect for every person- and skin type. It noticeably makes my makeup stay on longer, and that's always good because not everyone has time to stop at every mirror they see and powder up... my teachers wouldn't be too happy if I did that in the middle of a lesson, I can assure you!

As you can see here, the product is clear so has no effect on the colour of your skin and just smooths right on with no traces it was ever there, colour wise. For some reason I found when applying the primer, when it was a bit warmer outside the application was better and gave a better finish. The product was noticeably clearer when you squeezed it out the bottle too, and didn't have the cloudy colouring. So after that experience I tend to warm it up slightly before applying- either by breathing on it (!) or rubbing it together in my fingertips very slightly.

So yes, I do love this product and definitely recommend to anyone that wants to try out a good primer for a lot less money than if you were to splurge on the Benefit Primer for example. And costing only £7.99 I think it's a bit of a bargain.

Tips 5: Beauty and Makeup! x

Hey! This my last post in the tips series :( But I'm looking forward to this one! So.. lets jump right in!

How to beat shaving rash- use a light conditioner as a shaving foam..!
How to get the best result with fake tan- use a moisturiser on your hands, elbows, knees and feet before applying. Immediately after, wipe your hands, knees, elbows ankles and back of your knees.
How to make your own body scrub- granulated sugar mixed with body wash or shampoo is so quick and easy, and does the job perfectly!
How to clean out blocked pores- make a paste using baking soda and water. It should be fairly thick but moist.
How to beat dry feat- soak in water for 5 mins and use a foot file to scrape it all off.. ugh. Then work the moisturiser in.
How to apply perfume- for the best result do it after a shower. Put it in the crease of your elbow, neck, behind your ears and behind your legs. TOP TIP: if you can smell the perfume yourself after a few minutes after applying, your wearing too much.
Good quality makeup brushes without paying a fortune- go to an art shop! They have all the shapes and sizes you will ever need!
How to clean makeup brushes- use a light shampoo and warm water. Do not wash where the hair joins the handle, as this will loosen the glue.
How to remove all eye makeup- VASELINE! Even dissolves waterproofs.
How to apply bronzer- imagine an E shape on each side of the face.

Tips #1: Clothes & Accessories! x

Hello Everyone!

I am going to be doing a series of posts consisting of tips that every woman needs to know. There will be ones about beauty, fitness, diets, and all of that fun stuff. I have loads of fab tips in store for you so lets get started!

How to decide if you should buy it- Ask yourself if you look nicer in the clothes you are currently wearing to the ones your are trying on. If it involves you having a great big sigh of relief to be back in your own clothes, then it's a no!
How to stop a ladder in your tights- use clear nail varnish to make a layer over the ladder, and it won't be going anywhere.

How to unstick a zipper- use vaseline or soap and rub it either side of the zip, getting as close to the runner as possible. It will wax it, making it run smoothly.
How to make an emergency fluff remover- use sellotape and wrap it around your fingers (you only need one layer) sticky side out. Dab it over the garment, and watch them disappear!
How to achieve the perfect wardrobe- organise your wardrobe to suit your lifestyle. If most of your life is spent at work, have a space for all your work clothes (the majority should then be work clothes.) If you spend most of your time at parties, most of your clothes should be for parties.
How to clean patent leather handbags- clear furniture polish works as well as anything else.
How to be organised if you use several handbags. Have a makeup bag full of all necessities such as makeup (duh!) a notepad, pen, vaseline, hair brush, wallet and car keys and transfer it to each bag before a swap. Remember to keep it tidy, as having everything spread out in the bag totally defeats the object... :)
The key to accessorizing is not to overdo it- pick one great accessory such as a statement necklace or chunky belt and focus your outfit around this. Never wear dangly earrings with a necklace and keep rings to a minimum.
How to clean diamonds- use washing up liquid and an old toothbrush (it is essential that it is not to stiff, otherwise you might scratch the surface of the diamond) and always remember to do it in a washing up bowl, so there is not chance that is can be washed down the sink!
How to stop losing jewelry- when washing your hands put the ring or bracelet between your lips.. you'll never forget it's there!

Sort through your bedroom for things to sell or donate. You can earn a bit of extra cash AND have a clear out
Make the PERFECT hot chocolate *complete with squirty cream*
Go on pinterest for some bedroom inspiration
*if it's sunny* wash the dog! Get a big bucket, pour approx. 4 boiled kettles, and 6-8 large jugs of COLD water, but don't just judge on measurements. You're the best judge of whether it's so hot. Grab the shampoo and lather up!
Have a pamper evening!
*DISNEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY* Yes! ALL those movies... you've missed one... there we go!
Got younger siblings? Organise a fun *chocolatey* treasure hunt around the house or garden! Not only will they enjoy it, but you get the fab big sister feeling, and your 'rents will admire you!... and pssssstttttt... there's chocolate...
Wishlist! Lost that eyeliner? Ran out of that blusher? Pop onto the Superdrug or Boots website, and make a spring wishlist!
