Introduction to Indian Constitution
The Constitution of India is the world's lengthiest written constitution with 395 articles and 8 schedules. It contains the good points taken from the constitution's of many countries in the world. It was passed on 26 Nov 1949 by the 'The Constituent Assembly' and is fully applicable since 26 Jan 1950. The Constituent Assembly had been elected for undivided India and held its first sitting on 9th Dec.1946, re-assembled on the 14th August 1947, as The Sovereign Constituent Assembly for the dominion of India. In regard to its composition the members were elected by indirect election by the members of The Provisional Legislative Assemblies (lower house only). At the time of signing 284 out of 299 members of the Assembly were present. The constitution of India draws extensively from Western legal traditions in its outline of the principles of liberal democracy. It follows a British parliamentary pattern with a lower and upper house. It embodies some Fundamental Rights which are similar to the Bill of Rights declared by the United States constitution. It also borrows the concept of a Supreme Court from the US. India is a federal system in which residual powers of legislation remain with the central government, similar to that in Canada. Theconstitution provides detailed lists dividing up powers between central and state governments as in Australia, and it elaborates a set of Directive Principles of State Policy as does the Irish constitution. The constitution has provision for Schedules to be added to the constitution by amendment. The ten schedules in force cover thedesignations of the states and union territories; the emoluments for high-level officials; forms of oaths; allocation of the number of seats in the Rajya Sabha. A review of the constitution needs at least two-thirds of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to pass it. The Indian constitution is one of the most frequently amended constitutions in the world. Infact the first amendment to it was passed after only a year of the adoption of the constitution and instituted numerous minor changes. Many more amendments followed, a rate of almost two amendments per year since 1950. Most of the constitution can be amended after a quorum of more than half of the members of each house in Parliament passes an amendment with a two-thirds majority vote. Articles pertaining to the distribution of legislative authority between the central and state governments must also be approved by 50 percent of the state legislatures.
Preamble of The Constitution
We, The people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLICand to secure to all its citizens: JUSTICE, social, economic and political; LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; EQUALITY of status and of opportunity and to promote among them all FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do hereby Adopt, Enact and give ourselves this Constitution.
The Union and Its Territory
Article 1: Name and territory of the Union India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States. The States and the territories thereof shall be as specified in the First Schedule. The territory of India shall comprise: The territories of the States The Union territories specified in the First Schedule; and such other territories as may be acquired. Article 2: Admission or establishment of new States Parliament may by law admit into the Union, or establish, new States on such terms and conditions as it thinks fit. Article 3: Formation of new States and alteration of areas, boundaries or names of existing States Parliament may by law: Form a new State by separation of territory from any State or by uniting two or more States or parts of States or by uniting any territory to a part of any State Increase the area of any State Diminish the area of any State Alter the boundaries of any State Alter the name of any State [Provided that no Bill for the purpose shall be introduced in either House of Parliament except on the recommendation of the President and unless, where the proposal contained in the Bill affects the area, boundaries or name of any of the States, the Bill has been referred by the President to the Legislature of that State for expressing its views thereon within such period as may be specified in the reference or within such further period as the President may allow and the period so specified or allowed has expired.] Article 4: Laws made under articles 2 and 3 to provide for the amendment of the First and the Fourth Schedules and supplemental, incidental and consequential matters Any law referred to in article 2 or article 3 shall contain such provisions for the amendment of the First Schedule and the Fourth Schedule as may be necessary to give effect to the provisions of the law and may also contain such supplemental, incidental and consequential provisions (including provisions as to representation in Parliament and in the Legislature or Legislatures of the State or States affected by such law) as Parliament may deem necessary. No such law as aforesaid shall be deemed to be an amendment of this Constitution for the purposes of article 368.
Citizenship
Article 5: Citizenship at the commencement of the Constitution At the commencement of this Constitution, every person who has his domicile in the territory of India and Who was born in the territory of India; or Either of whose parents was born in the territory of India; or Who has been ordinarily resident in the territory of India for not less than five years immediately preceding such commencement, shall be a citizen of India. Article 6: Rights of citizenship of certain persons who have migrated to India from Pakistan Notwithstanding anything in article 5, a person who has migrated to the territory of India from the territory now included in Pakistan shall be deemed to be a citizen of India at the commencement of this Constitution if: He or either of his parents or any of his grand-parents was born in India as defined in the Government of India Act, 1935 (as originally enacted); and In the case where such person has so migrated before the nineteenth day of July, 1948, he has been ordinarily resident in the territory of India since the date of his migration, or In the case where such person has so migrated on or after the nineteenth day of July, 1948, he has been registered as a citizen of India by an officer appointed in that behalf by the Government of the Dominion of India on an application made by him therefor to such officer before the commencement of this Constitution in the form and manner prescribed by that Government: Provided that no person shall be so registered unless he has been resident in the territory of India for at least six months immediately preceding the date of his application. Article 8: Rights of citizenship of certain migrants to Pakistan: Notwithstanding anything in articles 5 and 6, a person who has after the first day of March, 1947, migrated from the territory of India to the territory now included in Pakistan shall not be deemed to be a citizen of India: Provided that nothing in this article shall apply to a person who, after having so migrated to the territory now included in Pakistan, has returned to the territory of India under a permit for resettlement or permanent return issued by or under the authority of any law and every such person shall for the purposes of clause (b) of article 6 be deemed to have migrated to the territory of India after the nineteenth day of July, 1948. Article 8: Rights of citizenship of certain persons of Indian origin residing outside India Notwithstanding anything in article 5, any person who or either of whose parents or any of whose grand-parents was born in India as defined in the Government of India Act, 1935 (as originally enacted), and who is ordinarily residing in any country outside India as so defined shall be deemed to be a citizen of India if he has been registered as a citizen of India by the diplomatic or consular representative of India in the country where he is for the time being residing on an application made by him therefor to such diplomatic or consular representative, whether before or after the commencement of this Constitution, in the form and manner prescribed by the Government of the Dominion of India or the Government of India. Article 9: Persons voluntarily acquiring citizenship of a foreign State not to be citizens No person shall be a citizen of India by virtue of article 5, or be deemed to be a citizen of India by virtue of article 6 or article 8, if he has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of any foreign State. Article 10: Continuance of the rights of citizenship Every person who is or is deemed to be a citizen of India under any of the foregoing provisions of this Part shall, subject to the provisions of any law that may be made by Parliament, continue to be such citizen. Article 11: Parliament to regulate the right of citizenship by law Nothing in the foregoing provisions of this Part shall derogate from the power of Parliament to make any provision with respect to the acquisition and termination of citizenship and all other matters relating to citizenship.

Connect to the internet using your cell phone and laptop computer

You'll be amazed at how easy it can be to connect to the internet using your cell phone and laptop computer. Connect anywhere, anytime, just one button to click.

When I'm away from the office, I usually have a laptop computer with me. That way, if I can find an internet connection, I can check email, surf the web, and handle any business emergencies - without being tied to the office.

The trick though, is in finding an internet connection while on the road.

In many cases, I am able to find free wifi connections - in parking lots of shopping centers and malls, hotel lobbies, major truckstops, and in some campgrounds.

Just by turning on the computer, the wifi card I use automatically 'sniffs' for open wifi connections, and when one is found, connects me to the internet (see my article WiFi wonders - connecting to free high speed internet with your laptop and high power wifi card.)

When wifi is available, it is definitely one of the best and fastest ways to connect to the internet while on the road.

But when wifi is not available, your on-the-road internet connection options are limited to either connecting by cell phone, or using something like the AT&T Edge wireless card.

In this article, I'll show you how to connect to the internet using your cell phone.

Connecting the cell phone and laptop to the internet

Connecting your laptop to the internet using your cell phone can be surprisingly easy - if you have the right phone, the right cell service provider, and a simple connection cable.

The good news is that the three major cell phone carriers in the US all make it relatively easy to connect. And regardless of which cell carrier you use, the connection process is very similar (but this is subject to change as the companies merge or upgrade to new technologies).

For this article, we will use the Verizon system as our example (Verizon is the largest cell phone carrier in the US.)

Starting with the right cell phone

To connect to the internet with a cell phone, you need a cell phone that:

Is either Dual Mode or Tri Mode - To connect to the internet, you need a cell phone that works in digital format. A dual mode phone is all digital and operates on two digital networks (1900 MHz and 800 MHz).
A tri mode phone works on the two digital bands, as well as on the analog network (800 MHz).
Tri mode phones will provide the most connection options, but unless you live in an area where the service is only analog, dual mode phones will get the job done.
Connecting with an analog only cell phone will be difficult, expensive, and painfully slow - and not worth the effort.
Has a data port - almost all newer cell phones have a data port which allows you to connect the cell phone to a number of devices - including laptop computers. If your cell phone does not have a data port, you will not be able to use it to connect to your laptop or internet.

When visiting the different cell phone provider web sites, you can search for 'tri mode' phones, and will find many that are available. If you currently have a dual mode phone, it is not worth upgrading to a tri mode unless you travel in areas where only analog service is available.

The right service plan

To connect to the internet, you will want a cell service plan that includes the 'data' service. Most current plans do include data, but you should check before you connect - to insure there is no extra surcharge for data usage.

Additionally, you should find out how many data minutes your plan has each month, and what times of days those minutes are available. You'll also want to know the cost per minute should you exceed the data allocation. (I have read reports of people unknowingly running up hundreds of dollars in data services while on the net connected by cell phone.)

Ideally, you'll want unlimited data minutes - at least on nights and weekends.

Internet Provider

Being able to connect the cell phone to the laptop is one thing, but how do you log on to the internet from a cell phone laptop connection?

Some cell providers (ie Verizon) include internet service as part of their data plan. This means that to connect to the internet you don't have to call a local ISP. You simply connect the cell phone to the laptop using a data cable (see below), and the cell connects to the Verizon internet access point immediately.

If your cell service doesn't include an internet access point, it will mean you have to call your local ISP to make the internet connection. This can be expensive, painfully slow, and difficult to manage.

By far the easiest solution is to use a cell provider that offers a direct connection to an internet access point - where you don't have to do anything to connect.

The Special Cable

Regardless of which cell phone provider you use, you will need a special cable to connect your cell phone to your laptop.

The good news is that most of the major cell service providers offer a special connection kit for each of their phones that includes the required cable and the installation software to connect your phone to a laptop computer.

Verizon (the service that I use) offers the Mobile Office Kit for almost all makes of phones for around $60. (See details at http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobileoptions/mobileoffice/mobileoffice1.jsp).

The Mobile Office Kit includes everything necessary for connecting your cell phone to the internet through the Verizon service (be sure to get the kit for your exact phone make and model).

Making the connection

Once you have the right phone and the connection cable, connecting to the internet is easy.

Here's how I did it:

Installed the Verizon Mobile Office software that came with the Verizon Mobile Office Connection Kit for my LG VX6200 camera phone.
Connected one end of the supplied cable to the data port on my cell phone, and the other end to a USB port on my laptop computer.
Started the Verizon Wireless Mobile Office software on the laptop - this software has a 'connect' button.
Clicked the 'connect' button on the Verizon Wireless Mobile Office software - and within 30 seconds I was connected to the internet at 115.2kbps.
While connected I could surf the web, check my email, upload and download files.
This connection works whether in a car, boat, motorhome, or anywhere a cell phone works.
To disconnect, I clicked the 'disconnect' button on the software.

Once set up properly, connecting to the internet via cell phone is quite painless. Just connect the cable between the phone and the laptop, start the connection software, and then click 'connect' to get on the internet.

Notes:

Connection speeds will be fastest in areas where digital coverage is available.
If you roam into an area where digital access is not available, internet access may not be available (digital coverage is available in most areas).
While the Verizon connection shows 115.kps connection speeds, not all cell providers will offer high speed connections. Most will offer 28.8 (or even slower).
Unlimited nationwide high speed data access via cell phone is available from Verizon for $79 a month. Other data plans start at $35 a month.

Highlights of the Railway Budget 2011-12

Following are the highlights of the railway budget 2011-12 presented by railway minister Mamata Banerjee in Parliament

* No hike in passenger fare and freight rates.

* Highest ever plan outlay of Rs57,630 crore proposed for railways.

* Rs9,583 crore provided for new lines.

* 1300km new lines, 867km doubling of lines and 1017km gauge conversion targeted in 2011-12.

* 56 new Express Trains, 3 new Shatabdis and 9 Duronto trains to be introduced.

* AC Double Decker services on Jaipur-Delhi and Ahmedabad-Mumbai routes.

* New Super AC Class to be introduced.

* A new portal for e-ticketing to be launched shortly.

* Booking charges will be cheaper with a charge of only Rs10 for AC classes and Rs5 for others.

* Pan-India multi-purpose smart card 'Go India' to be introduced.

* 236 more stations to be upgraded as Adarsh Stations.

* 47 additional suburban services in Mumbai and 50 new suburban services proposed for Kolkata.

* Two new passenger terminals in Kerala and one each in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal proposed.

* Feasibility study to raise speed of passenger trains to 160-200 kmph to be undertaken.

* A special package of two new trains and two projects for the states managing trouble free run of trains through out the year.

* Anti Collision Devise (ACD) sanctioned to cover 8 zonal railways.

* GPS Based 'Fog Safe' device to be deployed.

* All unmanned level crossing up to 3000 to be eliminated.

* All India Security Help line on a single number set up.

* All state capitals in the Northeast except Sikkim to be connected by rail in next seven years.

* A bridge factory in Jammu and Kashmir and a state-of-art Institute for Tunnel and Bridge Engineering is proposed at Jammu.

* A Diesel Locomotive Centre will be set-up in Manipur.

* A Centre of Excellence in Software at Darjeeling proposed under the aegis of CRIS.

* Rail Industrial Parks at Jellingham and New Bongaigaon proposed.

* Additional mechanised laundry units to be set up at Nagpur, Chandigarh and Bhopal.

* 700 MW gas-based power plant to be set up at Thakurli in Maharashtra.

* 18,000 Wagons to be procured during 2011-12.

* A scheme for socially desirable projects, 'Pradhan Mantri Rail Vikas Yojana' with non-lapsable fund proposed.

* 10,000 shelter units proposed for track side dwellers in Mumbai, Sealdah, Siliguri, Tiruchirapalli on pilot basis.

* Concession to physically handicapped persons to be extended on Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains.

* Concession of 50 per cent to press correspondents with family increased to twice a year.

* Senior citizens concession to be hiked from 30 per cent to 40 per cent.

* Medical facilities extended to dependent parents of the Railway employees.

* Scholarship for girl child of Group-D railway employees increased to Rs 1200 per month.

* 20 additional hostels for children of railway employees to be set up.

* Recruitment for 1.75 lakh vacancies of Group 'C' and 'D' including to fill up backlog of SC/STinitiated, 16,000 ex-servicemen to be inducted by March 2011.

* A separate sports cadre to be created.

* 2011-12 declared 'Year of Green Energy' for Railways.

* Freight loading of 993 MT and passenger growth of 6.4 per cent estimated for 2011-12.

* Gross traffic receipts at Rs1,06,239 crore, exceeding one lakh crore mark for the first time estimated.

* Ordinary working expenses assessed at Rs73,650 crore.

(1) Prerna:- The ‘janasankhya sthirata kosh (national population

stabilization fund) has to promote & under take activities aimed at achieving population stabilization at a level consistent with the needs of sustainable economic growth. Social development and environment protection by 2045

• Prerna is a responsible for parenthood strategy. It is monetary incentive strategy aimed at pushing up the age of marriage of girls and delay the birth of the first child.

(2) National Rural Health Mission:-Lunched in April 2005 the mission seeks to provide universal access to equitable, affordable and quality health care which is accountable and at the same time responsible to the needs of the people.

• It also aims to achieve the goals set out under the national policy and the millennium development goals during the mission period.

(3) Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna:-Launched by ministry of labour & employment, govt of India to provide health insurance coverage for BPL families.

• Beneficiaries are entitled to hospitalization coverage up to Rs 30,000 for most of the disease that require hospitalization.

(4) National Food Security Mission:-Sponsored scheme launched in august 2007.

• Objective is to increased production and productivity of wheat, rice and pulses.

(5) 15 Point Programme:-In Oct 2009 govt decided to include 3 more schemes in the Prime minister’s new 15 point programme for the welfare of minorities.

Those are: -

• National rural drinking water programme.

• Urban infrastructure developed scheme for small and medium town.

• Urban infrastructure and governance scheme.

(6) Bharat Nirman Yojna:- It is a time bound business plan for action in rural in infrastructure .Under Bharat nirman , action was proposed in the areas of:-

I. Irrigation.

II. Rural housing.

III. Rural water supply.

IV. Rural electrification.

V. Rural telecommunication connectivity.

(7) National Mission On Education:-It is a mission in which education is provide through information and communication technology. “SAKSHAT” one stop education portal was launched on Oct 30 2006 by the president of India.

• Head of National knowledge commission:-Sam Pitroda.

(8)Right To Education Act 2009:- Article 21-(A), as inserted by the constitution (86th Amendment Act) 2002, provides for free and compulsory education of all children in the age group of 6 to 14 years as a fundamental rights. Consequently the parliament has enacted this in April 2009.

Salient features:-

(a) Free and compulsory education 6 to 14 age group.

(b) Will apply to all India except J&K.

(d) A child who completes elementary education (up to class 8) shall be awarded a certificate.

(9) Female Literacy:-It is a scheme to provide education & related facilities to ST Students launched by ministry of trial affairs in dec 11, 2009.

(10) Anil Kalkaska Committee on reforms in IITS:-it will suggest reforms to make these elite institutions a global brand.

(11) Yashpal Committee Report:- It was set up in 2008 for higher education and research.

• It has suggested the scrapping of all higher education regulatory /monitoring bodies and creation of a super regulation.

• It also recommended that the deemed university status be abandoned and that all deserving universities be either converted into full fledged universities or scrapped.

(12) National Rural Livelihood Mission:-Ministry of rural development and panchyati raj proposed to restructure the existing swarnjayanti gram swarojgar yojna into rural livelihood mission to have a focused approach to rural poverty eradication in a time bound manner.

• Objective is to reduce poverty among rural BPL by promoting diversified and gainful self employment and wage employment opportunities which would lead to an appreciable increase in sustainable basis.

(13) NREGA Renamed After Mahatma Gandhi:- On Oct 2, 2009.

(14) Chandra Sheker Panel:- on the recomandation of a committee headed by cabinet secretary K.M Chander shaker. Centre had increased the pension for retired service man.

(15) Rajiv Awas Yojna:-Ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation had launched the housing project called the Rajiv awas yojna for slum dwellers and the urban poor.

• Aimed at making India slum free in the next five years.

(16) Government Gave 50% Women’s Quota: - For women in urban local bodies from 33 % to 50 % by the 108th const. amendment act.

(17) B.K Chaturvedi panel to resolve the inter ministrial issues to speed up the ambitious national highways development project taken up by the road transport and highway ministry.

(18) Librahan Commission:- It was set up in dec 16 ,1992 by the Narashima Rao govt. to probe the demolition of Babri Mosque. The commission was initially asked to give a report in three months, however it could do so only after over 16 years that saw 39 sitting and 48 extensions, finally on June 30 2009 it gave the report.

(19) S.D. Tendulkar Committee:-It is to estimate poverty in the country. It’s said that about 38% of the country’s population are living below poverty line. This figure is 10% higher than the present poverty estimate of 28.5 % by the planning commission.

(20) Moily Panel:- For administrative reform commission it is the 2^nd administrative reform commission.

(21) Unique Identification Authority:- Chairman of UID is Nandan Nilekani. He revealed that the first set of 16 digit unique identification number for citizen of the country will roll out by the end of 2010.

• The UIAI is a part of the planning mission of India.

• AADHAR:-UIDAI now new name AADHAR and also a logo.

• AADHAR or foundation through through which the citizen can claim his/her rights and establishment when assumed of equal opportunities as symbolized by the logo which has the halo of the sun in the imprint of a thumbs.

(22) M.S swami Nathan Panel:- It’s recommendation is on coasted management zone.

(23) G.T Nanavati-Akshay Mehta judical commission:- Probing the Godhra train carnage and post Godhra riots.

(24) Justice B.N Srikrishna is the head of the committee on Telangana issue. The committee is requested to submit its report by dec 31, 2010.

(25) Census 2011:-15th national census of India. President being first person to share her details. First census was conducted in 1872.

(26) D.P Wadhawa Committee On PDS:-Established by the Supreme Court to give recommendation on the reform of public distribution system.

(27) Rajiv Gandhi Grammeen LPG Vitarak Yojna:- Union petroleum and natural gas ministry inaugurated this scheme for providing liquefied petroleum gas to the rural house hold at Lachhman ghar in sikar district of Rajasthan .

• Under the scheme it is proposed to increase the number of connection to 16 crores with coverage of 75% of population by 2015.

(28) Punchhi Commission:-Commission on centre state relation. It was constituted in April 2007. It was ask to make recommendation to help address the emerging challenges faced by the nation regarding centre state relation.

Before this in mid 1980’s the SARKARI commission had undertaken a comprehensive review of the center state relation.

(29) National Integration Council:-The Govt. has reconstituted it which will be chaired by prime minister. Set up in the early 60’s by Nehru.

(30) E.R Rammohan Committee on Dantewada Massacre of CRPF personal.

(31) ICDS:-Integrated child development service launched on 2nd Oct 1975.

• It is the world largest programme for early child hood.

• The objective is to improve the nutritional and health status of children in the age group of 0-6 years.

(33) Green India Mission:- Ministry of environment and forests and the defense research and development organization have launched the mission.

• The aim is to bring a million heacter of high altitude, cold desert

ecosystem under cultivation by 2020.

(34) Pradhan Mantra Adarsh Gram Yojna:- It was launched in Rajasthan Sriganga nagar district.

• Aim at integrated development of 1,000 villages where a majority of the population belongs to the schedule caste.

• It is a replica of U.P’s Ambedkar village scheme.

(35) Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission:- Objective -Generation of 20000 mw of solar energy in three phases by 2022.

• Under this govt. aims to add at least 1000 mw solar power by the end of 2013.

• Power Finance Corporation and the rural electrification corporation had agreed to provide financial assistance.

(36) Certified command of state centre force in chattisgrah, orissa,Jharkhand, Bengal was mooted to counter naxal problem. Under this a IG rank officer or a retired major general on board should be headed the certified command. In this:-

• Additional helicopters should be provided.

• 400 new police stations should be opened.

• 34 new battalions should be constituted.

(37) S. Irani committee:- Rajasthan Govt appointed this committee regarding the Issue of providing reservation to Gujjars.

(38) Pradhan committee:-

• Investigate Nov 26 2008 terror attack.

(39) Muzzafar Jan Commission:-

This committee had probed the gang rape of 17 years old Asiya and pregnant neelofar in shopiaon (J&K).

(40) Kasturi Rangan Committee:- Council of scientific and industrial research (CSIR) has set up this committee. To see the capability of the national aerospace laboratory (NAL) to build civil aircraft.

(41) Goverdhan Mehta Committee:-To review the procedure of the intergovernmental panel on clime change.

Obama makes presidential pitch for 2016 Olympics to be held in Chicago

Washington, Apr 5 (ANI): US President Barack Obama in a video welcomed Olympic evaluators to Chicago to begin the task of grading whether the city is ready to host the 2016 games.
Obama described Chicago as an international city that he and his wife and children call home, the Chicago Sun Times reported.
Obama, who remains overseas, described a city that grew up under architect Daniel Burnham’s refrain – used a lot in the city’s bid for the games – “make no small plans, they have no magic to stir the soul,” and called the city a great American melting pot.
“It’s a city where the world’s races and religions and nationalities all live and work and play and reach for the American Dream that brought them here; where our civic parades wave the colors of every culture; where our classrooms are filled with the sounds of the world’s languages,” he said, noting that jazz, ranchera and bhangra can be heard “down the street from one another.”
But beyond that, the President told the 13-member International Olympic Committee’s evaluation commission, Chicago is his home.
“After your visit, once you discover the Chicago that I know – the city that I made my home, the city where my wife grew up, the city where we raised our daughters just blocks from where these games will be held – I am confident you will discover that you’re already in the perfect host city for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” the President said.
While Chicago is the first to be evaluated, the IOC team will also be grading finalist cities Rio de Janeiro, Madrid and Tokyo.
Today’s closed-door discussions will focus on environmental issues, transportation, proposed sporting venues across the city, and the Olympic Village planned for the Michael Reese Hospital campus in the 2900 block of South Ellis.
The IOC evaluation commission will tour the venues and Olympic Village site on Sunday. By the time they wrap up their work on Tuesday, the group will be prepared to report back to the 100-plus members of the IOC, which will vote on a host city for the games on October 2 in Copenhagen. (ANI)
