Sad News: Glo Nigeria Cut Down Their Data Volume

Before now, subscribers to Glo’s Always Micro plan would spend N1,000 to get 3.2 GB of data for 30 days. All that is available now is 1.6 GB. Yes; it is a whopping 50% slash in data volume. If you go Always Min, your N5,000 will no longer get you 24 GB of data but 12 GB. This revision of data plan volume cuts across both 4G and 3G data plans, so it doesn’t matter which is your preferred. You get a 50% cut in data volume across board.
Old Glo data Plans
N500 = 1.6GB 7days
N1000 = 3.2GB 30days
N2000 = 7.5GB 30 days
N2500 = 10GB 30days
N3000 = 12GB 30days

New Glo Data Plans
N500 = 800MB
N1000 = 1.6GB
N2000 = 3.7GB
N2500 = 5GB
N3000 = 6GB
This brings Glo’s data plans down to the same level as what you get from any of the other members of the Big Four networks. For example, N1,000 on MTN or Airtel will get you 1.5 GB of data.

It isn’t all bad though, as you still get more data volume for more expensive plans than you would on other networks at similar price points.

Fix Right Click on Desktop Taking Too Long in Windows 10

After downloading the zip file extract it.
Make a double click on shellexview.exe file.
Confirm UAC Prompt by accepting through Yes option.
After then the file will take a little while to scan your System. A file will be accessed with a huge list of folders and file Extensions, class, and source and many other extensions. Scroll down your mouse and search whether which file is having pink color background.
Right click on the files having pink color background and choose Disable selected items.

Disable all the files having pink color background one by one. Restart Explorer or restart you Windows 10 PC.

Glo Monthly Data Plan Revised

Often described as the grandmaster of data plans in Nigeria, Globacom Nigeria has silently reduced it’s data volume at same old price. Glo Nigeria for a long while now, has been offering the cheapest data plans in the country. Of course, this brought about a negative effect on the browsing speed experienced by customers. Unfortunately, the GSM operator has chosen to silently take a reverse. Before now, you could get 12GB for N3000. However, for same N3000, users will get just 6GB. And for N8000, glo users are only offered 16GB. That’s a huge difference you know?

Old prices still remains. Data plans have however, been (largely) reduced.

Etisalat remains the most expensive data network. On Etisalat, N1,000 will get you just 1 GB. But perhaps that tariff will translate into a faster, smoother experience? Only Etisalat internet subscribers can confirm that.

Anyway, the Glo data honeymoon is over now. At least, the tariff icing on the cake is gone. Perhaps Glo 4G will remain as rock steady as it has been before now. As a matter of fact, chances are that it will. With the new Glo data volumes, fewer subscribers will be enticed to get on the network, especially the 4G plans, seeing how difficult it is to come across smartphones supporting their 4G LTE network. I still won’t bet on Glo 3G for reliability.

Type the phrase regedit on the Cortana search field and you will witness the Cortana bar being unfolded on the screen with a regedit as a final result. Click on it.

Click Yes when UAC is evoked on the screen. This action will fetch Registry Editor on your screen. Follow this path: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT => Directory => Background => shellex =>ContextMenuHandlers => NvCpIDesktopContext

All you need to do is to remove NvCpIDesktopContext. Right click on NvCpIDesktopContext and select Delete. If you are eager to know what it does then the answer is this key shows NVIDIA option on the context menu of the right click on your desktop.

This will remove this entry from the context menu. Now, do the same thing for the Intel Graphics card and Groove synchronization. When you see the caution message, click Yes button.

Get back to your desktop. Right-click and the commands will be flashed up within the blink of an eye.

Withdrawal of the graphics items from the context menu lessens the load of the context menu and also makes its easier and quicker to arrive on the screen whenever asked for. Try this and let us the results.

How to stop unsolicited messages from MTN,Airtel,Glo, others

Following a Direction to the telecommunications service providers in the country, the operators, will from July 1, 2016, activate the DO NOT DISTURB facility which gives subscribers the freedom to choose what messages to receive from the various networks. With this Direction the operators have been mandated to dedicate a common Short Code (2442) which will enable subscribers take informed decisions. Mr. Tony Ojobo, Director of Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in a statement, said this action was taken in order to protect subscribers from the nuisance of unsolicited texts, and therefore a direct regulatory response to the yearnings of the subscribers. By this action, he explained, the Commission has invoked a regulatory provision which had hitherto been overlooked by the operators. Taking cognizance of the broad range of services which include: Banking/Insurance/ Financial Products, Real Estate, Education, Health, Consumer Goods and Automobiles, Communication/ Broadcasting/ Entertainment/ IT, Tourism and leisure, Sports, Religion(Christianity, Islam, others), the Commission directed the operators to give the necessary instructions and clarifications that will enable subscribers subscribe to a particular service/services /none at all.

In fact, a Full DND which is SMS “STOP” to 2442 does not allow the subscriber to receive any unsolicited message from the operators at all.
Below are the various options:
“SMS 1” for receiving SMS relating to Banking? Insurance/ Financial products to 2442
“SMS 2” for receiving |SMS relating to real Estate to 2442
“SMS 3” for receiving SMS relating to Education to 2442
“SMS 4” for receiving SMS relating to Health to 2442
“SMS 5” for receiving SMS relating to Consumer goods and Automobiles to 2442”
“SMS 6” for receiving SMS relating to Communication/ Broadcasting Entertainment/IT to 2442
“SMS 7” for receiving SMS relating to Tourism and leisure to 2442
“SMS 8” for receiving SMS relating to Sports to 2442
“SMS 9” for receiving SMS relating to Religion to 2442

Ojobo pointed out however that the decision of the Commission does not affect personal messages or person to person messages which are private communication by individuals. He urged the operators to comply immediately with the Direction issued by the Commission and never again harass subscribers with unwanted messages.

CBN clarifies N50 stamp duty on bank transactions

THE Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria, on Tuesday, imposed stamp duty of N50 on bank customers for money received into their accounts.

Consequently, bank customers will henceforth pay N50 stamp duty for money received into their accounts via electronic transfer, cash and cheques.

This order was contained in a circular to all Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial institutions titled, Collection and Remittance of statutory charges on receipts of Nigeria Postal Service under the Stamp Duties Act”.

The CBN stated, “As part of efforts to boost its revenue base, the federal government of Nigeria is exploring revenue opportunities in the non-oil sectors especially taxes and rates. It is in recognition of this fact that banks and other financial institutions are enjoined to support government’s revenue drive through compliance with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act, LFN 2004 as reinforced by the court judgement in Suit No FHC/L/CS/1710/2013. In this regard, the CBN pursuant to the provisions of its enabling laws, hereby issues this circular to all DMBs other financial institutions:

“With immediate effect, all DMBs and other financial institutions shall commence the charging of N50 per eligible transaction in accordance with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act and Federal Government Financial Regulations 2009, that is, all receipts given by any bank or other financial institution in acknowledgment of services rendered in respect of electronic transfer and teller deposits from N1, 000 and above;

“For all avoidance of doubt the following receipts are however exempted from imposition of stamp duties: payments of deposits or transfer by self to self whether inter or intra bank; and any form of withdrawals/transfers from saving accounts;
It should be noted that these charges are only payable by receiving accounts;

“Each DMB shall open an account designated as NIPOST Stamp Duties Account into which all charges collected shall be paid. The balances in such accounts shall be transferred monthly by the DMBs to CBN NIPOST Stamp Duty Collection Account No. 3000047517;

“Other financial institutions shall remit their Stamp Duty collections to any DMB of their choice.”

How to Activate Whatsapp Vioce Call on Android

For a while now, We’ve been hearing rumors in the tech blogosphere about WhatsApp launching voice calling on its Android app. Before now, this feature was reserved for a selected few.Before now you needed to have an invite – (a call from a contact who had the feature enabled) – before you can start using WhatsApp voice call. But as at 2 days before this post, WhatsApp voice call feature appears to have rolled out to everyone running the latest version of the app; which, at the time of writing is 2.11.561 on Android.

The update is a server-side update so as long as you have had an up-to-date version installed for a while now, you won’t need to update again. As in the screenshot below, the primary screen on the Android app has been updated to include 3 tabs – Calls, Chat and Contacts. The last tab is a welcome addition as it means you no longer have to go back to another screen everytime you want to check your contact

To make a call, all you have to do is tap the ‘New Call’ icon. The call screen employs an interface similar that of default Android.

It appears at the moment, you can only call your contacts who have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on Android, thus the need for you to share this with your loved ones, so that they can update their whatsapp, and you can communicate better via whatsappp voice call.

WhatsApp voice call feature is currently available only for Android users. iOS users can expect the feature to be activated in the coming weeks, and as soon as it is available, we will update this post.

The mail() function has been disabled and the mail cannot be sent error in joomla- How I solved it

Recently, while working on my SMS website managed with Joomla Content Management System, I observed that mails could not be sent out, and new members were unable to receive the activation link in their mailbox. In my search to find a solution, I realised that the error message-"The mail() function has been disabled and the mail cannot be sent error in joomla" was beacuase the SMTP was wrongly configured. This is How I configured the SMTP for Joomla. Please Read On...

Configuring an SMTP server for Joomla and start sending out emails is extremely easy. You just need to enter the right SMTP settings and your outgoing server will be configured.

Remember however that if you use a normal SMTP server on Joomla – like the ones associated to Gmail or Hotmail – you will be always exposed to deliverability issues, especially if you're sending mass emails. Only a professional SMTP service will guarantee a full delivery rate, so if you plan to set up a newsletter campaign you should consider this option seriously.

Now here's how to configure an SMTP server on Joomla:

1. Enter your Joomla dashboard.

2. Click on "Site", "Global configuration".

3. Choose the server "Server" tab and find the "Mail settings" section:

Hi, without wasting time, I will be sharing on how I was able to view the page source on right click disabled sites. The quest for this started when I visited a friend's blog to know the background song being played, and I could not view the page source cos the site was right click disabled. This made me to search google.com, and here are some of the ways I used to view the page source. I am sure you too will need it too. Just follow me;

How to get page source on right click disabled sites

1. Try Firefox - 90% of the time, the script only works in IE.

2. Try Opera - 99% of the time, the script only work in IE and Fx.

3. Save the page and view the source locally (already suggested).

4. View the source from your temporary Internet files.

5. Use the browser menu (View --> Page Source or View --> Source).

6. Use a site ripper and download the whole site.

7. Disable JavaScript - this works in IE, requiring you to disable "active scripting" through your security settings. In Firefox, it's in Tools --> Options --> Content (tab), and in Opera, you simply press F12 and uncheck JavaScript.

From my experience, #7 is most effective method. Disable Right Click scripts are doo-doo - they only encourage people to break them, and in disabling right click, they prevent other important GUI functions from taking place as well.

GTBank Mastercard activation code for online transactions

In one of my posts last year, i discussed "How to get GTBank Mastercard Secure Code". After i published that post ,i received many comments from you- my blog readers, asking me to tell them about how they can get GTBank Mastercard activation code for online transactions.
It is no longer a news that GTBank is one of the leading banks in Nigeria as at the time of writing this post.Some of their services that made them unique include: the introduction on GTBank Token which we discussed last year(Read it Here), GTBank Master Card Secure Code(Read Here), Online Banking etc.
Today we shall discuss how you will get your GTBank Mastercard activation code for online transactions
Details after this cut.

To Get Your Activation Code:

1. Go to any branch of GTBank close to you . Tell them you want to apply for Internet Banking or want to be profiled for Internet Banking and would want to apply for a “Token”.The bank will debit N2,100 or so for the Token once you log into their site and activate your Internet banking account (or Naira MasterCard). You will get the Token device that very day (or they will ask you to come back for it another day) together with a PIN which you need to change in the process of activating your Internet Banking account on their site.

2. After getting your Token and Internet Banking details, go to the GTBank website - www.gtbank.com - to activate your ATM card for online payment. Click on "Login" under "Internet Banking" and then enter your Internet Banking account user details [User ID (Username) and Password] which should have been sent to your email address. Enter the login details and once inside your account, click on "Get Activation Code" button.

3. On the next page, follow the instructions provided and fill the form on the page. Select your card type (MasterCard) and enter the expiry date (which you will find on your ATM card) and then press the little button on your Token. It should display some digits, type in those digits and click on the "Submit" button.

4.. After you submit, your code will be generated for you. The generation of the code means your ATM card has been activated. Keep this online activation code away from anybody except yourself, you shouldn't compromise it.

5.. Your GTB Naira MasterCard (ATM card) is now ready for making online payments anywhere you see the the MasterCard secured logo on the Internet. The code generated will be required every time you want to make payment online with the card.

Install and run it on your pc.

You are to create a password, then click on OK and enter your desired password in the next screen.

Now connect the usb drive to your pc and create key on drive. Make sure you select the correct USB location.

Finally, click OK button at the top right corner and the software will exit.
Whenever you remove the usb drive, the pc will lock itself and will not unlock until you insert the usb drive.

How I got my Gtbank Mastercard Secure Code

Hi, season's greetings to you all. Today, i want to share with you what how i got my Gtbank Mastercard Secure code without stress, at the corner of my room. Before you can pay on websites of participating internet merchants that display the MasterCard SecureCode Verified by Visa symbols this card for online transaction, you will need to activate the card for internet banking and Securecode first.

Now, the question is How do i activate my card to start using it for online payments and purchases? The answer is provided after this cut

GTBank Mastercard Secure is a new service from Guaranty Trust Bank plc that protects your GTBank cards (MasterCard & Visa) from unauthorized use, whilst ensuring your online transactions and payments are protected & secure.This service is brought to you in partnership with MasterCard SecureCode and Visa Verified by Visa.
