Today at the GTR we had guests from Student Plus Association. A group of young people interested in migration issues, and the situation of asylum seekers from Romania came to attend a presentation on the subject.

Aid for Bega Hospital

As we said, the main beneficiary of the aid we receive from our friend Hans Goran Bolin, from Unga Liv Sweden, are hospitals. Among the first who came yesterday at the GTR to pick up their stuff was The Bega Hospital that received five beds and a clinic table.

The youngest refugee in Timisoara

Abdisaba is the most younger refugee in Timisoara. We went today to bring him home from maternity together with his mother.

Things for hospitals

Today was one of those days when general mobilization call. Everyone gives a hand to unload the car full of aid sent by our friend Hans Goran Bolin from Sweden. The things are mainly for hospitals and from tommorrow they will come to pick up them.

Work in Calacea

With good weather and the financial support of Not For Sale, we finally got to cover our old house in the countryside. Very soon all the people staying there will have better living conditions, and the whole energy will be consumed for the work in our greenhouses and for the production of vegetables and fruits.

New volunteers from Italy

Like every year, early spring brings volunteers from Italy. Through collaboration with Association Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII, Santina and Martina arrived in Timisoara on March 14. They will join our team and we will help in anti-trafficking programs that GTR develops.

After school in villages…

For children from town, after school is a more than pleasant, a building with many rooms, the playground, more toys, dining room, drawing on the walls, more color, heat … However, for many pupils who learn at just a few kilometers from Timisoara, life looks different. It’s enough to go just ten kilometers out of town and you will discover a different Romania. For many children from our villages after school is just what you see in the picture above.

Dream of a better life

As you know, this winter we went to offer gifts to needy families around of Timisoara. We passed hundreds of families for several days, and we saw so much poverty that week …
Looking at the computer today, we found the folder with the pictures from that days. Now we see them with different eyes. Details that we didn’t notice in December are coming out.
The only publication of this house is the stack of free promotional offers that children store and kept with great care. Like a printed magazine, the pages with thousands of products enable these children to dream of a better life.

Guests from Catholic University of Munich

Yesterday at GTR we had guests from Catholic University of Munich. A group of young students preparing for work in social field wanted to know more about the life of refugees and asylum seekers in Timisoara. The meeting was attended by representatives of RIO, UNHCR, the People’s Advocate, Save the Children and of course Generatie Tanara. The German students learned about programs and services that are provided to refugees as long as they are accommodated in Romania and also about the support that Romania may give to asylum seekers.

Network of pimps sentenced in France

Another experience. For the first time, at the invitation of the Court of Appeal of Grenoble, Generatie Tanara Romania was a civil part in the process of trafficking. Roma family accused, victim girls from Romania, Bulgaria and Czech Republic.
For nearly 20 hours we listened to the prosecutor charges, the defendants answers, testimonies of victims, we saw evidences … It was more than interesting. It’s very much to tell about … and I promise to come back tonight with more.
Just to tell you that after a surveillance activities which unfortunately could not take place only within a limited time, about five months, the pimps profit was estimated at 580 000 euros, money earned only from girls forced to work like prostitute. They were discussions about violent offenses, weapons possession and trafficking, possession and manufacture of false documents … There is much to tell. I come back with more pictures and sentences imposed by french magistrates later.
