Samsung Galaxy Note unofficially available for Php36,400

2011-11-06T17:56:00.000-08:00

I know somebody who’s itching to get his hands on the Samsung Galaxy Note. For those who are using the old Samsung Galaxy Tab as their tablet/smartphone, the more handy Galaxy Note is going to be available unofficially on Thursday at Widget City for Php36,400.

The keyword here is unofficial. Your device will not qualify for official support from Samsung service centers even if it already becomes available in the market (serial not registered in the country). Widget City however offers 1 year service warranty from their shop.

Anyway, at Php36,400 it’s higher than the Samsung Galaxy SII or the Galaxy Tab 10.1 when they first came out but I guess nothing is expensive for those who can’t wait. We don’t have any word yet from Samsung Philippines when the Galaxy Note will be available here.

Just to recap, the Galaxy Note is a 5.3-inch Android Gingerbread device with a stylus (hence “Note”) they call the S Pen. It has a Super AMOLED Plus 800 x 1280 display on Gorilla Glass and is powered by a dual-core 1.4GHz Exynos chip. The Galaxy Note is also HSPA+ capable and has an 8-megapixel camera to boot.
Samsung Galaxy Note Specs:

    Dual-core 1.4GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor, Mali-400MP GPU, Exynos chipset
    Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread)
5.3” Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen (800 x 1280 pixels)
    S Pen stylus
8 MP, 3264×2448 pixels, autofocus, LED flash
    Full HD 1080p video recording
    2 MP front camera

generation phone* HTC Takes a Blow in Apple Fight

2011-10-18T18:35:00.000-07:00

TAIPEI—The International Trade Commission said Apple Inc. didn't violate HTC Corp.'s patents for technology used in its mobile devices, a setback in the Taiwanese company's patent fight with the iPhone maker.

But analysts said coming rulings were likely more important in determining whether HTC could face an injunction against certain imports into the U.S. market.

The ITC issued its "initial determination" on Monday, saying that Cupertino, California-based Apple's devices didn't violate four of HTC's patents, which cover technology for looking up and quickly dialing phone numbers and different techniques for managing power consumption on portable electronic devices.

HTC shares fell 4.6% to 708.00 New Taiwan dollars (US$23.50), while Apple shares recently traded down 1.2% at $416.89.

HTC said it is waiting to get a full copy of the ruling before it decides how to proceed, but experts say HTC could ask the ITC to review its decision.

"This is only one step of many in these legal proceedings," HTC General Counsel Grace Lei said in a statement. "We are confident we have a strong case for the ITC appeals process and are fully prepared to protect our intellectual property."

Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

With sales of smartphones booming, and growth expected to continue, litigiousness among large technology markers has grown to a fever pitch.

The ruling represents another victory for Apple in its ongoing patent disputes with many of its rivals around the world, but analysts say Monday's decision is more of a prelude to more important rulings that will come in November and December.

On Nov. 13, the ITC is expected to decide on a preliminary ruling that Apple violated two patents owned by S3 Graphics, a company HTC is in the process of acquiring. And on December 6, the ITC will issue a final ruling on a case where it preliminarily ruled HTC had violated two Apple patents.

Analysts say Apple is hoping to block HTC smartphones, the most widely used Android devices in the U.S., from the market, while HTC is hoping to gain enough leverage in countersuits to settle for a cross-licensing agreement.

Samsung Securities analyst Birdy Lu said a cross-licensing agreement seems for now the most likely outcome and added a recent suit filed by HTC using patents it obtained from Google to pose a stronger threat against Apple. A decision on that case is likely to be at least a year away.

Nearly all mobile-device makers are actively suing or defending themselves in legal battles against one another. Apple, in particular, has locked horns with a variety of companies including Samsung Electronics Co. and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc., which is being acquired by Google Inc.

Samsung Galaxy S II turned out Stronger than the iPhone 4S

2011-10-18T18:30:00.001-07:00

Because having the features are equally sophisticated, since the beginning of the emergence of the iPhone 4S, many people will start complaining and comparing it with the Samsung Galaxy S II. This time the people of Square Trade, a company engaged in the field of electronic goods warranty pit by dropping both the smartphone from a certain height. Interestingly, though dropped from the same height, the iPhone 4S is more battered than the Galaxy S II.

When dropped from waist height of an adult male (about 85 cm) are both just cracked a little on the back cover. From the height of the iPhone 4S fractured shoulder that is getting worse on the back, while the Galaxy S II suffered minor injuries. Well, how about being dropped from a maximum height of the screen facing down? 4S iPhone screen cracked-out, his opponent had just cracked a little at the bottom of the screen. Proving screen Samsung Galaxy S II more resilient.

But we do not recommend you to try something similar. Because the prices of the two smartphones are still very expensive. iPhone 4S although not yet officially entered Indonesia, but if dirupiahkan cost about 7-8 million dollars, and Samsung Galaxy S II is now priced at 5 million. Moreover, we would be very careful when handling this smartphone, instead of throwing it. Although the test dropped somewhat controversial, but it's worth for prospective users to determine the durability of the material quality of the two smartphones.

* generation phone* Grid10 review

2011-10-10T18:02:00.000-07:00

Second chances aren't always easy to come by, and when Fusion Garage disappeared off the map following the unabashed failure of the JooJoo tablet, we certainly didn't expect those doors would be opening again. But open they did, swinging wide as the company treated itself to a product launch of the sort usually reserved for big-named companies with big-named devices.

This time it's the Grid10 tablet, a $299, 16GB, 10.1-inch slate that plays nice with Android while simultaneously thumbing its nose at the OS Google built, instead relying on the completely custom-built GridOS. This new challenger can run Android apps despite not actually running Android itself, purporting to give users another, better choice of armament in these tablet wars. Is it truly better, or is it just different? The answer is waiting for you just after the break.

generation phone reviewDisney Mobile DM010SH Android phone hits Softbank stores in Japan

2011-10-10T17:58:00.000-07:00

Disney Mobile's first Android-powered smartphone hit Softbank Mobile stores in Japan earlier this month, with 0 JPY (about $0) due up front. You won't be getting off that easy though -- expect to pay just shy of 74,000 JPY (about $965) off contract, or 24 monthly installments of 880 JPY (about $11) if you opt for the two-year agreement. The Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) DM010SH packs a 4-inch 960 x 540 qHD display with 3D support, a 1GHz processor, and the typical spattering of smartphone features, including 3G data, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and microSDHC expandability, along with an 8 megapixel camera.

Rest assured that Disney branding abounds, from the company logo just below the earpiece, to those signature mouse ears that replace a generic home button. There's also a default Snow White 3D wallpaper and a home screen link to the D-Market, where you can load up your device with Disney-branded mail, calendar, photo, calculator and pedometer apps -- so you can meet those fitness goals with hopes of getting one more Halloween out of that child-size Minnie Mouse costume.

We dropped by a Softbank store in Tokyo to play around with a Classic White version of the device (Classic Pink is also an option, though sadly we had to settle for boring old vanilla). Once you get past the not-so-subtle Disney branding, it looks and functions like any other Android smartphone. It felt quite snappy as well -- launching apps and loading web pages with just as much pep as many other Android phones we've used. Make no mistake, the appeal here is definitely the Disney Mobile branding -- but you should be pleased, assuming you don't mind paying a rather lofty sum for a ho-hum device to fit within your Heigh-Ho lifestyle. Jump past the break for a video walkthrough.

My Computer

Overall, the interface is beautiful and minimalistic which can even be used for daily use without any confusion. Though, there aren’t wallpapers included but you can always search the web for android wallpaper collection.

In short, it offers a android freshness to Windows desktop and nice way to freshen up Windows interface.

Install

Good thing about Android Skin pack is there are no manual file replacement procedure included; you just have to run an installer which is “Click Next” Type.

Just like installation, Uninstallation is breeze. Comes with uninstaller so, just check all the elements you want to remove and reboot windows to back your old interface.

Uninstall

During installation, Skin Pack takes a backup of all System files responsible for visual styling. This is helpful as in most cases, we mess with it and end up having mixed crappy interface.

Samsung M2 Portable 3.0 500GB

2011-10-03T19:11:00.000-07:00

Samsung USB 3.0 hard disk is almost square. Black body with a casing of plaid. Cover matte black top was mentioned antigores. This fun packed Samsung did not recall the protective sheath so that M2 Portable potentially collide with a beret while other objects in pockets or purse owner.

PCplus was then tried the casing durability. When scratched with the tip of the nail, he looked okay. But when PCplus pit bike with the key, eh baretan long presence in Korea is a hard disk casing. Ah let it be, the more important of course performance is not it?

About the performance, the Samsung Portable 3.0 M2 in its class quite ordinary. Dipertunjukkannya speeds equivalent to some portable USB 3.0 hard disk had ever PCplus test. Similarly, the manual test results. Oh yes, as always faster read performance than write speed. But only about 15%.

Judging by its performance, the Samsung Portable 3.0 M2 is selected so-so you're looking for a USB 3.0 hard disk. Its performance is quite rushed. Physically compact and light. Plus the USB 3.0 cable attached to a long, 73cm, so you are free mengoneksikan data storage in PCs and notebooks and netbooks. Connected to a USB 2.0 port was no problem, as long as the intake of electrical power from the USB port was sufficient. But the connection is a USB 2.0 port, performance is certainly not agile as the USB 3.0.

generation phone *Samsung and Apple Battle Over The Asian Market

2011-10-02T19:25:00.000-07:00

generation phone *Apple Inc .and Samsung Electronics Co. have been waging a war against each other, trying to prove which one can provide 100 percent customer satisfaction in Seoul, Korea. But with the fast growing market of Apple’s iPhone, it won’t be long until the company will beat Samsung over its Asian customers.

The two firms have been battling over the claim of being the best provider and manufacturer of tablets and smartphone since April of this year. Unfortunately for Samsung, Apple has proven yet again its superiority by successfully blocking Samsung phones and tablets in other countries such as Netherlands and Germany. Aside from conquering Europe, Apple has also caused an indefinite delay in the launching of new Galaxy tablets in Australia.

Big competitors

Galaxy gadgets powered by the Android operating system, is currently one of the biggest competitions of the iPad in the market. However, the company will certainly lose much of its profits if it continues to take passive steps just to maintain Korea as its biggest market.

Apple and Samsung gadgets are in the race for the top spot in today’s smartphone market. After decades of being the market leader, Nokia is finally being overshadowed by other brands.

Apple is considering Samsung as a threat to its success. Since the company’s smartphone sales has rapidly increased to as much as 500 percent this year, Apple took the desperate move of suing its competitor in a California court last April. Until now, there are more than 20 cases on technology design and patents unsettled between the two rival companies.

2011-10-02T19:16:00.000-07:00

Return releasing HTC smartphones that target upper-class users, the HTC Titan that runs on Windows operating systems Phone 7 (WP 7) Mango. HTC Titan estimated prices at the level of Rp 5 million.
A tumult at least have made the Android OS-based phones WP 7 bit left out. This can be seen from the many vendors who released Android based phones and only a few major vendors are trying to 'luck' by launching the MEdia Net WP 7. Though currently Microsoft has issued the latest release with Mango code, but still windows based phones are rarely encountered. At least in my community, hehehe ... ..
Carrying the touchscreen bar design with dimensions of 131.5 x 70.7 x 9.9 mm, Weight 160 gr. This phone looks so great but a little bit slim. When we talk about functional design, it is seen that the design of the Titan is not better than other smartphones that run on the Windows platform. Design curves are on the back of the phone is not so impressive when compared to the iPhone or other Android phones are almost using similar designs. Even on the other hand, the design of the HTC Titan looks a bit old fashioned. (Like candy Kino dung ... "since there is Kino, others so ancient, hehehe)
HTC TitanNamun on other parts such as the kitchen runway for example, the HTC Titan can be said to be superior. Just look at the processors used; 1.5 GHz!. Andreno GPU 205 can accommodate the needs of users who like to play 3D games. But unfortunately, that is used only 512MB of RAM. And we all know that memory is a vital part of an operating system. The bigger the memory, the sooner an application is run. And vice versa.
For media photos and video documentation, the HTC has been buried upscale camera on this product. Force behind the 8MP camera capable of producing images with a resolution of 3264 × 2448 pixels. Support LED Flash can deliver maximum results while taking pictures in low light conditions. Users can also record video with High Definition (HD) with recording speeds of up to 30 frames per second. Meanwhile, to make video calls has been available a 1.3MP camera which is located on the mobile front.
Data transfer options are qualified to be one of the advantages of the HTC Titan. Standards such as GPRS channel can be used for browsing when the user away from the reach of the 3G signal. Browsing through the hotspot will be fun thanks to the Wi-Fi connection. Sharing music files, videos and pictures can be done easily through devices that support DLNA technology. Anyway banged dah complete data transfer facility is owned by HTC Titan.
Support the battery with a capacity of 1600 mAh which can provide long-term usage for users. We used to call or receive calls, the HTC Titan is able to provide nearly 12 hours! With battery life that are reliable, user will be freed from the charger when I want to go.
