If 90's teen comedies have taught us anything, prom usually marks the end of the movie. Oh, and your high school experience.

Sadly, many gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students often opt out of attending prom with their significant other, while some schools in the US actually ban sex-sex couples from attending.

For the first time ever, the Gay &amp; Lesbian Youth Services of Western New <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GenerationwhyAReflectionOnAmericaAndBeyondForThoseWhoCare/~4/0LNdE7jHsG8" height="1" width="1"/>

MTA's $1 MetroCard Fee Is Bringing In The Big Bucks, Baby

DAVID HANDSCHUH/NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

The New York City transit system has gone green!

Well, sorta.

Earlier this year, the MTA started to charge $1 every time an individual bought a new metro card.

I think it's a good idea, but I think it's getting old when a business, organization or government wants to save / make more money and they throw "green" on it.

Just say that you don't want <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GenerationwhyAReflectionOnAmericaAndBeyondForThoseWhoCare/~4/Ms3M6gc6xQQ" height="1" width="1"/>

Minnesota 12th State To Pass Marriage Equality

On Monday, the Minnesota state senate voted 37-30 to approve same-sex marriage.

It will become the 12th state to allow marriage between those of the same sex.

Gov. Mark Dayton is expected to sign the bill on Tuesday, which was passed by the House last week.

It will go into effect on August 1st -- the same day same-sex couples in Rhode Island are allowed to get married.

I heard a rumor that the Internet is used for more than porn.

But, it might just be a rumor.

Starting on May 20th, New York City will be hosting Internet Week 2013.

The festival was launched in 2008 in cooperation with the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment.

In May 2011, I was a broke, unpaid magazine intern with no friends living in Los Angeles.

Sounds like the life, right?

Well, actually, for once I'm not being sarcastic; it was pretty rad.

I interned a few days a week at The Advocate, went to the beach on my days off and spent my nights catering or exploring the city.

Eventually, I made a few friends and some money and connections.

A few weeks ago, I met Cara &amp; Emilia - the ladies behind Mushpa y Mensa - and I was pretty impressed with their designs; a majority that payed homage to the LGBT community.

Homage, also known as, homoage.

One of my favorite shirts was the "Binary Queer" shirt, at right.

Two years ago, I packed up my car a few days after college graduation and moved to Los Angeles, California.

Yes, I know what you're thinking.

"This sounds like the beginning of an E! True Hollywood Story, a Lifetime movie or a porn."

At this point in my life, it's honestly a toss up, but I digress.

Beverly Smith, a Southern California college student, was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The 19-year-old devout Christian was showing her sorority sisters how to do a headstand when a very small earthquake hit central Los Angeles this past Sunday.

The UCLA undergrad was caught by surprise and tried to compose herself to no avail.

The laws are currently being challenged in federal court.

On Tuesday, Bloomberg said that the policies are a reason why the big apple has one of the lowest crime <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GenerationwhyAReflectionOnAmericaAndBeyondForThoseWhoCare/~4/YcWA73ZKva0" height="1" width="1"/>

An Amanda Knox Joke For Your Friday

On Monday morning, construction crews at the World Trade Center site will raise the final two sections on the top of the building.

This will make the building the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere, according to the management team.

The symbolic height - 1,776 feet - pays homage to the founding of America as an independent country.

The 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards took place in Los Angeles this past Saturday and was hosted by bisexual actress-producer-director-E.T. badass Drew Barrymore.

The event honored former President Bill Clinton with the Advocate For Change Award, which comes with a little bit of controversy; Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act, a federal law which bans same-sex marriage, on September 21,<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GenerationwhyAReflectionOnAmericaAndBeyondForThoseWhoCare/~4/wlOy_OxeuMk" height="1" width="1"/>

Random Thought Of The Day

A 2006 study found that atheists were viewed as the most mistrusted of minority groups, more so than gays and lesbians, recent immigrants and Muslims.

Responders stated that atheists were elitist and materialistic, in addition to believing that they were more likely to partake in criminal behavior.

I'm not sure if they confused the word "atheist" with "high profile Republican politicians," <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/GenerationwhyAReflectionOnAmericaAndBeyondForThoseWhoCare/~4/3ZKxNXIdYnk" height="1" width="1"/>

L To Brooklyn

I look up and I wonder if you noticed me pretending to read my book.

Uh, me?
I'm going to Brooklyn.

Well, I suppose I'm going to Queens,
But I get off in Brooklyn,
And my apartment is a few streets away,
In Queens.

I'm going to Queens.

And so do the other straphangers,
Mostly cause they're bored,
