Sony Make.Believe Uncharted 3 Tournament Videos

A little over a month ago I went to LA to take part in the finals of Sony’s Uncharted 3 tournament to find a new multiplayer character. The winner would be immortalised in pixels through motion capture at the Naughty Dog studios and Uncharted gamers will be able to download them to play online with their PSN friends. Even though I didn’t win, I did have an amazing time and learned how to roll over boxes and tumble into awesome poses, in my case it was more of a tumble over a box and collapse into a heap whilst mumbling “I’m ok!”. I also learned that taunts are incredibly cheesy and finishing moves arn’t really effective if you accidentally hold a pistol by the barrel. Despite being clumsy and injuring myself (alot) I threw myself into the fun by creating my own character with her own skills, personality and moves. I’m a UK Finalist in the Uncharted 3 Auditions

Sony recently ran an online competition to find a new character for their Uncharted 3 game on the Playstation 3. They scoured the world and ran auditions in the form of a gruelling Facebook game. There were several hundreds of entrants from the UK alone and the competition ran in 10 EU countries and a similar competition ran in 8 states in America.

The eventual winner will get to create and devise their own in-game multi-player character. They will get to do this at the heart and home of motion picture in Culver City, L.A. and meet the Naughy Dog Inc. creative team behind the game. They’ll also get the unique opportunity to experience the behind-the-scenes of motion capture.

All the entrants had to go through a series of challenges:

1. ‘Name like Nathan Drake’, creating a compelling name for themselves as an action hero

2. ‘Move like Nathan Drake’, submitting a video of themselves demonstrating their moves and agility

3. ‘Act like Nathan Drake, recording a voiceover to a muted game scene, testing their creativity and voice acting skills

There are now 10 finalists from Europe who will compete at a live event in L.A, where one lucky winner will be chosen to win the grand prize of a trip to the Naughty Dog Inc. studios to be a part of gaming history and leave their legacy in the Uncharted series. It’s the first ever Facebook audition for a computer game character and if you havn’t played the game then you should get hold of a copy.

If you’re reading this it means the embargo has finally been lifted. I just want to tell you all that I am one of the finalists! I am flying over to LA where I’ll be taking part in the “multiplayer event” audition. Amazingly, the judges thought I was one of the most deserving of the hundreds that auditioned. I don’t know about that, I like to think I just made them laugh.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve always wanted to be in a computer game. Uncharted 3 is almost cinematic, designed to be immersive to play and like a film which you can step in and control the characters. The storyline is scripted as a film would be and behind the game characters are real actors, not the cheesy voice overs of days of yore. I’m just happy to have made the finals and am looking forward to all the exciting challenges they set us for “the Live Event”.

Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Advert

I recently filmed a Cadbury’s advert and can be seen singing on a building apparently “like an angel” on the Cadbury’s Advert “Night Runner”. Watch the video below and prepare to have this song in your head all day. I was also featured in the Glee idents for Sky1, so keep an ear to the ground out for some seriously eye watering singing. The feature film that Genevieve is acting in is looking for backers. Over 43 minutes of the film has been completed and there are just a few, but hugely ambitious scenes that are yet to be filmed. Myself, Jack Bowman and James Tweedy (and a film crew, a neuroscientist and a presenter) recently invaded a working office to see just how disruptive working in an open plan office can actually be. The kind folk at Elsevier let us purposefully be rowdy for one morning in their offices in Camden but even though the Elsevier staff dutifully carried on working our focus was on presenter Tom Dyckhoff. He was hooked up to an ECG monitoring his brain waves as we put tried our best to be annoying and stressful whilst he was trying to work.

Dyckhoff interrogates the world’s pre-eminent architects and their creations with new eyes. He challenges their assumptions by bringing them face to face with the people who actually use their buildings and argues that architecture should be less about ego, art and economics and more about environmental psychology and individual well-being.

Blending Acting and Culture with Shakespeare

Last month and every April, Stratford upon Avon holds a celebration commemorating the Birthday of the world’s most famous playwright, Shakespeare. This year the celebrations were a held on the weekend of the 30th April and 1st May and I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to take part in performing for the thousands of culture tourists that descend on the town annually.

Here’s some pictures of the rehearsals in London before going up to Stratford upon Avon for the actual weekend. Here I am, pictured below with Mary Tynan; who was given the opportunity with Tread the Boards Theatre Company which she then very generously extended to myself and also Catherine Balavage; who has written about the experience in her theatre column. Together we performed the Witches Scenes from Macbeth, I also performed Julia’s O hateful hands monologue from Two Gentelmen of Verona and Cleopatra’s death scene with the aid of Catherine who kindly volunteered to perform (and stage-die) as Iras.

We joined in the parade through the town on the Saturday morning with flags banners and hundreds of other performers dressed in Elizabethan costume. The weather was glorious but very windy, which meant we had to work extra hard in our open air stage area.

I should have some videos up for you soon when I find which camera we recorded them on but for the moment, here’s a few pictures of the rehearsals.

Spotted on The Great British Hairdresser Preview Trailer

People have been letting me know that I was spotted on the advert for E4′s new show ‘The Great British Hairdresser‘. So I did a little digging and have found it for you! It looks like it’s going to be a really good and addictive show and I’m looking forward to watching it. It set to be like the x-factor but for hairdressers, the tough judge is hairdresser to the stars James Brown and it’s presented by Abbey Clancy. All the hairdressers were really sweet and chatty in real life and slightly nervous. I’m excited for them all and can’t wait to see who wins.

It starts on Monday 28th February at 10pm.

Shot by Dan Wilton and styled by Saffron Hunt, they dressed me down to look like a typical trendy Shoreditch student. Have a closer look at the wallpaper and you’ll be forgiven for never wanting to visit London ever again. Don’t worry, it’s not that bad really.
