Genital warts and pregnancy is very seldom linked together considering a few cases that are really seen by the people. However, a future mother who has genital warts during pregnancy may get worried because genital warts after all, are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) which is responsible for many other STDs. However, having genital warts during pregnancy is not something to be overtly concerned with. Such worries usually are psychological instead of physical health.

One of the biggest concerns for women who have genital warts during pregnancy is the risk of passing the HPV to their babies. Actually, genital warts pose a very minimal threat to their babies’ health during pregnancy. Instead, genital warts pose greater complications to the mother especially during childbirth. During pregnancy, the mother’s immune system is suppressed and making them more vulnerable to infections. Genital warts grow larger easier and often making urination painful and difficult. During childbirth, warts that are in the vagina will cause it to be less elastic and even obstructing the baby’s decent. In some cases, a Cesarean birth is required, although it’s not really encouraged.

Complications to baby are not really a case for concern, even on the worries of transmitting HPV to the baby. A worst case scenario would be where genital warts develop in the baby’s throat (laryngeal papillomatosis) and obstructing the breathing passage. In this case, laryngeal papillomatosis is life threatening and requires laser surgeries to remove the warts. However, the case mentioned is extremely rare.

As to the fear of transmitting HPV to babies during pregnancy, it is actually very rare and possesses little threat to them. Sometimes babies don’t have genital warts but are diagnosed with HPV’s antibodies as they still have their mother’s antibodies. In some very rare cases, warts are found inside the baby’s vocal chord which possesses danger to them.

Talking about treatments during pregnancy, some doctors prefer to advice women to ignore the genital warts as they might disappear after pregnancy as their immune system has become stronger. Some doctors would advice mothers to treat the genital warts during pregnancy but attention has to be taken so as not to take medications which possess a threat to foetus. Some medications that are possibly recommended by doctors are Imiguimod and Lomatrex. Imiquimod is a prescription medication that boosts your immune system to help fight HPV. Lomatrex offers quick relief from genital warts.

Psychologically, mothers who have genital warts tend to blame themselves for having them and feel guilty of transmitting the virus to their babies. However, all these negative feelings may be amplified. Mother-to-be should have a positive outlook on their pregnancy and enjoy them and most importantly, taking care of themselves for their baby’s sakes.

Genital warts diagnosis is a very simple thing to do and sometimes can be done in the comfort of your home. For professional advice however, medical diagnosis of genital warts is recommended. To some, genital warts diagnosis is shameful as they may show the sexual life or sexual activities of someone and even fear the response of the doctor. However, genital warts diagnosis by a certified doctor actually assures you that no discrimination or misconception will happen. Because of that, you can go for genital warts diagnosis can be done with trust and confidence.

Genital warts diagnosis is basically done by checking the appearance of genital cauliflower like bumps and swellings in forms of pink, red and gray around the genital area. The patients themselves would be able to detect these and doctors sometimes treat them without any further testing.

Other types of wart diagnosis are actually to check for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) that causes genital warts. Most common but not so reliable test is by Pap smear. Pap smears identify abnormal cells that may be a sign of cancer. However, Pap smear itself cannot ascertain the diagnosis of HPV infection unless further and advanced tests are carried out.

Genital warts can also be diagnosed through a simple visual examination. During the diagnosis, acetic acid (vinegar) is rubbed or swabbed on the penis or cervix for ladies to check for HPV lesions. If a whitish area appears, it means the existence of HPV. The whiter it is, the worse it is.

If still in doubt, another genital warts diagnosis which is almost similar to Pap smear will be conducted that is colposcopy. The name comes from colposcope which is used to check the cervix for evidence of HPV. Colposcope is an electric microscope which is positioned about 30 cm from the vagina. During the diagnosis, acetic acid is placed on the cervix to make sure light does not pass through the cervical cells. Using the colposcopy, the doctor or gynaecologist will focus on areas where light does not pass through. Abnormal cervix condition will then be visible as white and the whiter it is, the worse the condition is.

Another more complicated genital warts diagnosis is by doing the biopsy of cervical tissues. Cervix will be swabbed to take a little sample of the cervical tissue and then examining them carefully under the microscope. HPV infection is confirmed with the existence of HPV genetic materials.

As the healthcare system is getting better and well equipped everyday, it is important to place your trust and confidence in the healthcare system. Be sure of their diagnosis and their treatment. Then, be optimistic that you’ll be cured and be healthy again.

Talking about home treatment for genital warts, it actually sounds dangerous. However, there is really genital warts home treatment that is approved by the authorities. Some of the home treatments are self made while some are produced by companies that did extensive researches on genital warts itself. Home treatment for genital warts emerges mainly because the treatments that should be done in hospitals or clinics are too dangerous and sometimes cost a lot of money. The worse thing is that there’s no guarantee of the eradication of the genital warts.

Genital Warts Home Remedies

Genital warts home remedies that are claimed to be highly successful in killing the warts mainly are antibacterial substance such as acids and vinegars. One of the most common genital warts home remedies is the apple cider vinegar. It might work because the acidic content of the vinegar actually kills of the bacteria around the warts. The thing to do is have a bottle of apple cider vinegar, cotton wools and duct tapes (or any tapes that are strong enough). When you’ve got them ready, put some vinegar on a cotton wool and tape it to the warts. Then leave it there for a few hours, but not the whole day as the vinegar might be too acidic and burn your skin instead. Continue this for a few days. Please remember that it has to be done slowly. Some people were impatient and out all sorts of chemicals on the warts and also for the whole day. In the end, it only burns the skin badly and in a few cases the warts actually got worst, showing that it shows an adverse response towards the response. During the treatment, the warts may get smaller and black until it is dead, leaving a scab. But, do not pick on the scabs but let them fall off by themselves as the scabs give adequate time for the new skin to grow.

There are some other home treatment on the market, such as garlic oil, tea tree oil and also aloe vera. Using the home remedies mentioned, you can also take some medications to boost your immune system in order to combat the virus that causes genital warts. Try having vitamin A everyday. You can also apply some vitamin A on the warts itself. However, it may take a few months before the warts are really gone.

If you don’t want to use expensive medications, one last resort would be this. Try applying natural ingredients such as vinegar on the warts. Then, couple the effort by lots of exercise, healthy diets, enough rest and having a positive outlook on life or basically anything to boost your immune system and it will sure make a difference.

Table vinegar is actually a very useful medium in detecting and exterminating the genital warts. Although there’s no medical proven evidence of the use of vinegar in treating genital herpes, there are many people who claimed that their genital warts disappeared after using the genital warts and some more, the genital warts never came back. Perhaps it’s because the vinegar is acidic making it effective in killing the virus that cause HPV.

Apple cider vinegar is useful to detect the presence of HPV. This is done when a woman who has abnormal Pap smears and yet cancerous cells can’t be detected. Vinegar is used in visual examinations. During the examination, vinegar is out on some cotton wools and are then swabbed around the genital area especially penis, cervix, labia and anus. If there are genital warts, they will turn white upon contact. However, appearance of whitish areas may not mean that they are genital warts as it could also signal other STDs such as yeast infection and genital herpes.

Vinegar is also useful in genital warts home treatment. As said earlier, there is no medical evidence showing its efficiency in treating the genital herpes. Perhaps because vinegar’s acidic substance helps to kill the HPV and also burning off the genital herpes. Furthermore, many people claimed that vinegar rid them of such irritations and it’s also not costly. There are also individuals saying that adding aspirin with vinegar and make them into paste actually helps. For those of you who want to try it, here’s the procedure. Put some vinegar onto the cotton wools and paste them onto the warts using duct tape. You can also add some aspirin to the vinegar and then paste them onto the warts. However, you must not rush when using applying the treatment as more time is needed for new skin to grow. The paste should be left onto the warts for just a couple of hours and not the whole day as it might burn the skin instead, causing the area to turn black. The genital warts will turn black and turn into scabs. Repeat a few rounds until the scabs fall off. Then, new skins will grow. Again, repeat the treatment one or two times to completely eradicate the genital warts.

Vinegar is useful in detecting and treating genital warts. However, it is still advisable for everyone to justify their choice themselves through extensive research of the treatment methods and not merely listening to rumours.

Genital warts vaccine is still a new thing in the medical society. However, there are a few vaccines in the market such as Cervarix and Gerdasil. Now, the vaccine is not actually for genital warts itself but towards HPV that causes genital warts and also cervical cancer. The vaccine targets HPV type 16, 18 which cause cervical cancer and HPV type 6 and 11 which cause genital warts. In some places such as Alaska and Virginia, bill has been passed to allow vaccination programme be implemented in low grade and also voluntary.

Genital warts or more accurately, HPV vaccine works based on virus like particles (VLPs) that are hollow which are assembled from HPV proteins. The genital warts vaccine is injected into a person’s body to elicit antibodies which that neutralize initial infection of HPV virus. Genital warts vaccine does not show any side effects that occur to other vaccines such as heart attacks and sudden cardiac arrests. Moreover, the vaccine does not involve any live or dead cells as the VLPs are not capable of reproducing. Researchers expect the vaccine to last about 5 years. However, the cost of the vaccine is quite staggering ($360) and were opposed by insurance companies covering the cost.

The genital warts vaccine mainly target those 20 years of age, although it is recommended for even sixth graders. In some states the recommendation has been proposed where parents can exclude their children from the vaccination. Pre-teen of 10-13 year olds might show more effective result of the vaccine as are sexually inactive and are less likely to be HPV positive.

For females, the risk of contracting the virus is about 70% and for men it’s even higher, which is 80%. That figure can be higher among uncircumcised men as the foreskin is the best ‘habitat’ for the growth of genital warts. However, penile cancer is extremely rare and only accounts for 1% of cancer among men while females have an adverse risk of contracting cervical cancer. That’s why the genital warts vaccine is very important in preventing HPV and other diseases caused by HPV. The vaccine also shows perfect efficacy in preventing the virus.

The creation of the genital warts vaccine however, raises up the question whether youngsters after being injected with such vaccine will have more unprotected sex. It’s like giving condom to youngster so that they can have more sex and more sex partners. Although the vaccine may be virus-proof, it may have its own effects in social deterioration and deficiency of moral values.

No doubt the genital warts vaccine is efficient in preventing the infection of the virus. It is still one’s own personal choice to have the vaccine. One also has to remember that the vaccine is used to prevent the infection of HPV and not as a license to have more unprotected sex.

In the market, medications for treating genital warts are extensive. Some people however, prefer to make their own genital warts medications which they claimed were very successful. Here, we will look at two types of medications for treating genital warts which are in the market and another one is home treatment.

Commercial genital warts medications have long been in the market and some can be applied at home. A few of the genital warts medications are Podofilox resin and lotion/gel and Imiquimod. Podofilox lotions or gel works the same by stopping genital warts cell growth. A doctor or health professional will apply the resin once a week for at least 6 weeks or until the warts disappears. It seems to be burning off the genital warts as the resin has to be washed off after a few hours to prevent irritations to the skin. Pofodilox lotion/gel works differently as it is not as aggressive as resin and are applied once per days 3 days followed by 4 days of no lotion. However, there is no guarantee of total eradication of genital warts as they may return after treatment. A person having this treatment is advised not to have sexual activities as the virus can still be transmitted to others. Sexual intercourse should not be continued as the genital warts medication can spoil the condom and diaphragm causing HPV infection. Imiquimod however, is a medication that works by boosting the body immune system to fight against HPV. Imiquimod cream is applied to the warts and it might shrink them. However, warts may reappear within two weeks of the first treatment and treatment should be continued. Some common side effects of using Imiquimod are itching, burning and skin redness. The downside of this medication is that it may be very expensive if used for an extensive period of time.

Some other genital warts medications are usually applied by health professionals in the office. The genital warts medications would be Interferon injections and Trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Interferon works by boosting the immune system to combat HPV. Interferon is usually injected into the warts or under the skin twice a week for 8 weeks. The side effects of this injection are headaches, muscle pains and fatigue. Another downside is that it costs about $200 for each treatment and the success rate is only about 50%. TCA works differently by killing destroying the proteins in the genital warts cells. As it is acidic enough to kill normal cells, administration has to be done by health professionals only. TCA is applied only once per week are only put on the warts to avoid killing normal cells. As the effect of TCA is big enough, it is not recommended where there are many warts. However, one of the pros of using TCA is that it does not affect pregnancy as TCA only works locally/on the area around the warts itself.

It is advisable to discuss the genital warts medications with your doctor to ensure the best medications for your own personal case as some medications may be allergic to different medications.

Genital warts treatment usually talks about how to remove the genital warts instead of really curing the cause itself, which is the human papillomavirus (HPV). Still, many people are more interested in genital warts treatment itself and not going straight to the virus. However, it will all change when people know that treatment of the genital warts itself is not enough because the genital warts might resurface after a few months as the virus itself has not been eradicated completely. Usually after the treatment, HPV will only remain inactive and may resurface after a period of time. Because of that, genital warts treatment has to be repeated until the warts are completely gone.

Genital Warts Cure

As mentioned just now, there are a few ways to cure the genital warts. However, they only cure the visible genital itself and not killing the virus that cause the virus. Genital warts cure is more to eliminating patients’ worries on genital warts effects on their sexual life and pregnancy. Because of that, genital warts tend to make a comeback after a few months. We will go through the genital warts cure one by one. There is one common treatment which is called Cryosurgery. Cryosurgery is a treatment where extreme cold is used to freeze the warts off. Extreme cold causes ice crystals to form inside the warts which literally tear them apart. Sometimes blisters may form but they usually peel off after a certain period. Cryosurgery treatment normally uses liquid nitrogen as the solution and are sprayed or just swabbed on the warts. This method usually works as it is also used to treat cancers such as liver cancer and prostate cancer.

Another method of genital warts treatment is Electrocautery. Electrocautery is just the opposite of cryosurgery as it works by burning off the genital warts using a small probe with electricity running through it. The current then heats up the needle which us out on the warts, basically burning them away. If there are many genital warts to be cured, general anaesthetics may be used to numb the patients because of severe pain that maybe felt. After the treatment, the warts will look white as they have become dead skins. The doctor will then remove the dead skins.

Lastly, normal surgery can also be done as genital warts treatment. It is very basic as genital warts are cut off with a scalpel. During surgery, local anaesthetic will be applied to numb the area around the genital warts. After the surgery, scarring may occur as all surgeries do. Normal activities can be resumed after one week. Still, some side effects may occur which require you to consult your doctor and that is when you have a severe pain, a fever or chills and also have foul smelling discharge as they may indicate an infection. All the treatments mentioned above are done professionally inside the doctor’s office or the hospital. After the surgery, do not expect and immediate healing as genital warts may reappear after a few months as the treatments above only kills the genital warts and not the virus which cause it.

Genital warts removal is literally remove the genital warts on the affected area by any means possible. Although there are various methods to remove the genital warts, one has to remember that only the genital warts will be exterminated but not the virus that causes the genital warts itself, which is the human papillomavirus (HPV). After genital warts removal, there is no guarantee that it won’t make a comeback as in most cases the genital warts reappear after a few months.

How to Get Rid of Genital Warts

Talking about how to get rid of genital warts, we will start with methods that are certified by the medical authorities. Cryotherapy is a proven method to get rid of genital warts and that is basically by freezing them off. During the treatment, doctor will use liquid nitrogen and spray or rub them on the warts. This works through extreme colds that cause the genital warts to crystallize which literally tear them apart. After the treatment, genital warts will turn white and also swollen. After a few days, they will start to fall off and new skins will grow. Cryotherapy is done in the office or in the hospital and is done by professionals. The only downside is that it is expensive and also, no guarantee the genital warts won’t come back.

Next one is electrocautery. Electrocautery is the opposite of cryotherapy as it uses probe with electric currents to remove the warts. Before the removal, local anaesthetic will first be applied to numb the area around genital warts. Then, the probe will be charged with electric current and the needles will then be put on the genital warts. The needles will heat up and burns off the genital warts. It is claimed that electrocautery is very effective in removing the genital warts and warts are also less likely to return after treatment. Still, there is no prefect guarantee that the genital warts will not return. More likely, the virus becomes inactive and warts will only appear an extensive period.

Most common removal method is through surgical method. It is the same like every surgical procedure where genital warts are cut off and new skin is left to grow after that. However, scarring may occur. Furthermore, as the genital warts are removed through excision and blood is involved, infection may occur and complications may happen after surgery such as painful urinations, fever or shaking chills and foul smelling discharge during urination or from the vagina.

All the methods mentioned are done in the office. There are also other methods available such as laser surgery and home remedies. Be sure that they are certified and safe before you really go for such treatments.

For doctors, genital warts symptoms are a very abstract thing as genital warts cause no symptoms, except some visible signs or growth that may signal that the genital warts has already progress to an advanced level and even showing more complications or diseases that has been caused by the same human papillomavirus (HPV). Often, genital warts can only be signalled by severe itching, irritations and even flu.

We will start with the obvious genital warts symptoms first. Genital warts may appear as bumps and cauliflower like swellings around the genital area. They appear mainly at the vaginal openings, cervix and anus. For males, genital warts symptoms appear around the penis, scrotum, urethra and anus. They are like raised masses that are soft. Sometimes, it can appear fingerlike especially at the anus. For many, the appearance of disgusting bodies or masses is worrying enough and can prompt many to see the doctor directly.

Other symptoms are foul smelling discharge from the vagina and difficult urination. Foul smelling discharge is because of infection and complications signalling other sickness and disease. Difficult urination is caused by warts that grow near the urethra and causes urine to pass off with difficulty. Sometimes, bleeding may also occur.

One of the most common symptoms is the flu infection. Feelings of onset of flu may signal the spread of the disease and most people just mistook them for normal flu. Then, they will start to take over-the-counter medications that may cause more symptoms of genital warts. Often times, more symptoms of genital warts signal that the virus has already begin to spread doctors can also administer treatments to slow down the progression of the disease. However, they may not respond to medications and even spread further.

For females, genital warts symptoms may be suspected through abnormal Pap smears. However, abnormal Pap smears may also signal other STDS and even cancer so it is not necessarily genital warts. Often, more advanced tests have to be conducted to really ascertain the existence of the warts.

However, genital warts symptoms sometimes are not visible unless some chemical tests are carried out. This is usually done after there are abnormalities in the Pap smears. Still, this is very seldom because people rarely suspect the existence of genital warts unless they are very visible symptoms such as bumps and swellings. A simple test can be done, which is the visual examination. A doctor will swab the penis or cervix to check for HPV lesions. If whitish area appears, it means the appearance of HPV. Some doctors believe that when a wart appears, it means that the infection has become severe. If warts haven’t appeared but whitish area are sensed through the visual examination, this means that the virus is still not strong enough to show visible symptoms and preventative measures can be taken to prevent infection to other people.

Most importantly, everyone should have a good healthcare and hygienic lifestyle. Symptoms may not appear always but it doesn’t mean that it’s not there.

Genital warts spread mainly through sexual contacts and sexual activities. Actually, genital warts are spread when the human papillomavirus (HPV) infect a person and the others through sexual activities.

For information, genital warts are actually very contagious and it is the most common sexually transmitted disease (STIs) around. However, it is quite unknown as people only know about genital herpes etc. Most people contract the virus through sexual activities such as sexual intercourse, oral sex and anal sex. Although condoms are used, it is actually not sufficient to stop the infection and merely delaying it.

Genital warts are also spread through the sharing of sexual toys. Sexual toys usually contain bodily discharge such as semen and vaginal fluid that contains the HPV from one person. If the sexual toys are shared, the virus will be transmitted the other person easily and its symptoms are very slow in revealing itself, sometimes taking a few months.

In some rare cases, genital warts are spread to newborns if their mother has genital warts herself. Genital warts can be seen in the throat and also the baby’s genital. However, such cases are very rare. In such as event, warts may grow bigger and obstruct the baby’s breathing passage. Surgeries then have to be done to remove the warts completely.

There is very little possibility where little children have genital warts. However, it may occur as they have been sexually abused by someone and further investigations have to be done.

Genital warts are spread on a person’s genital areas easily. Firstly it will appear around the penis and vagina or cervix area for the females. For the male, it will then spread to the scrotum and anus. For the female, it will then spread to the urethra. Then, the genital warts will spread further to the anus. During this level of spread, it means that HPV is very active and might also cause other complications such as cervical cancer.

One cannot eradicate genital warts completely as the virus cannot be treated. However, genital warts can be removed through cryosurgery, electrocautery and usual surgery or laser surgery. Before it spread, it is always better to prevent it. Some easy methods of prevention are by confirming to one sexual partner. This makes sure that the virus won’t spread to other multiple partners. Condoms should also be used correctly and consistently to make sure that the virus is not spread easily. Sex toys should also be sterilized after every use. Also, make sure the genital area is always clean and dry to prevent the virus to grow on around the genital areas.

Everyone should know HPV is a very contagious virus and causes genital warts to grow easily. Because of that, hygiene should be prioritized to avoid infection at all cost.
