A long time no see!!! till I accepted in Institut Teknologi Bandung - School of Electrical and Informatics. It will be new experience for me and I should change my lifestyle there especially my study habit. I should more serious in study and I hope to finish in 3.5 years and continue for my master in Germany/Singapore/Australia or Hongkong.
Oh ya, Previously, I won 1st place in ThinkQuest International Project Competition 2011... and I will receive my new Mac Book Pro#wish... and go to San Fransisco Bay....

Today is Wednesday and it seems to be my first post in 2011... it was a long journey that I haven't write anything in this blog since 2010. hmm.... Now, I'm still waiting for university selection results. I'm very curious about the final result and only hope the best.

I selected 4 universities. NTU,NUS, ITB and UTP. I still waiting and waiting for the result....
I did my best shot in getting at least 2 universities.... and now I lift the choice to God. as I heard an inspiring quote : Lets do the best and Let the God do the rest..... yep that sentences glows inside my ears now.... ok, Lets wait and pray.....

It was fascinating competition in faculty of economy in University of Indonesia.
We, from SMAN 4 DENPASAR got 3rd position in EDC with severe unexpected stories...
Well.... I love join the team with Anggi and Ian....
and this is the story....

There are 4 round in the EDC(Economic/English Debate Competition)
1st Preliminary Round (5 Debates)
2nd Quarter Round (1 Debate)
3rd Semi-final Round (1 Debate)
Finally Grand Final and 3rd Final

FIRST DAY
Firstly, we competed with IPK Pluit....
well, we debated about Bailout Century Bank
They are awesome....
and in the end of the debate, we won the first preliminary round.

On 2nd preliminary round, we debated with a team that I don't know how exactly to write the name of their school
It really surprised me when they using religious opening, which was strange in this kind of competition... and we won.... hehe

The competition became tougher... then we debated with SMAK 3 PENABUR which was the strongest opponent in this competition... They are smart and make a tricky status quo.... and I will say that they really clever... and we lost the debate..

Pengertian :
POP3 singkatan dari Post Office Protocol yang merupakan jenis terakhir dari POP.
POP3 biasanya selalu disandingkan dengan SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol). Fungsi dari keduanya saling mendukung, di mana POP3 digunakan untuk mengambil email dari komputer server ke komputer
client (pengguna), dan SMTP digunakan untuk mengirimkan email dari komputer client yang dititipkan ke pada komputer server untuk dikirimkan ke komputer server tujuan.
Email berbasis web adalah email yang dapat digunakan pada saat kita sedang on-line, contohnya : yahoo, plasa, hotmail, dll. Sedangkan email berbasis POP3 adalah email yang dapat kita gunakan pada saat kita sedang off-line, contohnya :email lokal.

Web-based Email, atau email berbasis web dikembangkan dengan memberikan jasa email kepada orang yang memiliki akses internet, tetapi tidak memiliki account email sendiri, atau yang dimiliki bukan akses ke email server, tapi ke sebuah web server. Well ladies and gentlemen,
Lets discuss about debate
Today, It is Kodya English Debate competition
And actually I proud with getting 2nd place (I'm SMAN 4 B Team)
but still there is something that I would like to say

In this competition, there are many unqualified adjudicators that not competence in judging. And our SMAN 4 A Team lost with SMAN 5 A Team because of this thing. And it also quite strange way to calculate the points. It is not justice that should be....
And....

Also I think that the judges prefer to choose other school rather SMAN 4 DPS, maybe because the got many achivements and they are jealous to us.
Yaa, Maybe there are someone who used to make SMAN 4 DPS lost....
And also, the other judges who not adjudicate SMAN 4 A Team surprised with this thing. While SMAN 4 DPS A Team is tougher than SMAN 5 A Team.
It is weird....... and now I wanna ask

Yesterday is my first day of holiday...
On this holiday, I don't go anywhere...
and just in Bali..... :(
I feel bad by this holiday.....
but there is a thing that makes this holiday so important ...

I will celebrate the Christmas at the Church on 22nd of December... and It's tomorrow...
Yes.... I feel so happy.....
But the nightmare will come on 26th December and it's a very unimportant thing that I must do....
It's the camping for KIRS-4 organization activity..... But , I think it's very unimportant thing to do on the holiday. It just cut my holiday.
I don't like it very much....

The big melt: 2 trillion tons of ice gone since '03

More than 2 trillion tons of land ice in Greenland, Antarctica and Alaska have melted since 2003, according to new NASA satellite data that show the latest signs of what scientists say is global warming.

More than half of the loss of landlocked ice in the past five years has occurred in Greenland, based on measurements of ice weight by NASA's GRACE satellite, said NASA geophysicist Scott Luthcke. The water melting from Greenland in the past five years would fill up about 11 Chesapeake Bays, he said, and the Greenland melt seems to be accelerating.

NASA scientists planned to present their findings Thursday at the American Geophysical Union conference in San Francisco. Luthcke said Greenland figures for the summer of 2008 aren't complete yet, but this year's ice loss, while still significant, won't be as severe as 2007.

The news was better for Alaska. After a precipitous drop in 2005, land ice increased slightly in 2008 because of large winter snowfalls, Luthcke said. Since 2003, when the NASA satellite started taking measurements, Alaska has lost 400 billion tons of land ice.

In assessing climate change, scientists generally look at several years to determine the overall trend.

Melting of land ice, unlike sea ice, increases sea levels very slightly. In the 1990s, Greenland didn't add to world sea level rise; now that island is adding about half a millimeter of sea level rise a year, NASA ice scientist Jay Zwally said in a telephone interview from the conference.

Between Greenland, Antarctica and Alaska, melting land ice has raised global sea levels about one-fifth of an inch in the past five years, Luthcke said. Sea levels also rise from water expanding as it warms.

'There's no reversal taking place'
Other research, being presented this week at the geophysical meeting point to more melting concerns from global warming, especially with sea ice.

"It's not getting better; it's continuing to show strong signs of warming and amplification," Zwally said. "There's no reversal taking place."

Scientists studying sea ice will announce that parts of the Arctic north of Alaska were 9 to 10 degrees warmer this past fall, a strong early indication of what researchers call the Arctic amplification effect. That's when the Arctic warms faster than predicted, and warming there is accelerating faster than elsewhere on the globe.

As sea ice melts, the Arctic waters absorb more heat in the summer, having lost the reflective powers of vast packs of white ice. That absorbed heat is released into the air in the fall. That has led to autumn temperatures in the last several years that are six to 10 degrees warmer than they were in the 1980s, said research scientist Julienne Stroeve at the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo.

That's a strong and early impact of global warming, she said.

"The pace of change is starting to outstrip our ability to keep up with it, in terms of our understanding of it," said Mark Serreze, senior scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo., a co-author of the Arctic amplification study.

Methane release
Two other studies coming out at the conference assess how Arctic thawing is releasing methane — the second most potent greenhouse gas. One study shows that the loss of sea ice warms the water, which warms the permafrost on nearby land in Alaska, thus producing methane, Stroeve says.

A second study suggests even larger amounts of frozen methane are trapped in lakebeds and sea bottoms around Siberia and they are starting to bubble to the surface in some spots in alarming amounts, said Igor Semiletov, a professor at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. In late summer, Semiletov found methane bubbling up from parts of the East Siberian Sea and Laptev Sea at levels that were 10 times higher than they were in the mid-1990s, he said based on a study this summer.

The amounts of methane in the region could dramatically increase global warming if they get released, he said.

That, Semiletov said, "should alarm people."

I found several ways to get money by your own blog. I hope these tips may help you.
The list is divided into direct and indirect methods, and examples and links are provided for each point. Lets start with the methods....

Direct Methods

1. PPC Advertising Networks

Google AdSense is the most popular option under this category, but there are also others. Basically you need to sign up with the network and paste some code snippets on your website. The network will then serve contextual ads (either text or images) relevant to your website, and you will earn a certain amount of money for every click.

The profitability of PPC advertising depends on the general traffic levels of the website and, most importantly, on the click-through rate (CTR) and cost per click (CPC). The CTR depends on the design of the website. Ads placed abode the fold or blended with content, for instance, tend to get higher CTRs. The CPC, on the other hand, depends on the nice of the website. Mortgages, financial products and college education are examples of profitable niches (clicks worth a couple of dollars are not rare), while tech-related topics tend to receive a smaller CPC (sometimes as low as a couple of cents per click).

The source of the traffic can also affect the overall CTR rate. Organic traffic (the one that comes from search engines) tends to perform well because these visitors were already looking for something, and they tend to click on ads more often. Social media traffic, on the other hand, presents terribly low CTRs because these visitors are tech-savvy and they just ignore ads.

2. CPM Advertising Networks

CPM advertising networks behave pretty much as PPC networks, except that you get paid according to the number of impressions (i.e., page views) that the ads displayed on your site will generate. CPM stands for Cost per Mille, and it refers to the cost for 1,000 impressions.

A blog that generates 100,000 page views monthly displaying an advertising banner with a $1 CPM, therefore, will earn $100 monthly.

CPM rates vary with the network, the position of the ad and the format. The better the network, the higher the CPM rate (because they have access to more advertisers). The closer you put the ad to the top of the page, the higher the CPM. The bigger the format (in terms of pixels), the higher the CPM.

You can get as low as $0,10 and as high as $10 per 1,000 impressions (more in some special cases). CPM advertising tends to work well on websites with a high page views per visitor ratio (e.g., online forums, magazines and so on).

3. Direct Banner Advertising

Selling your own advertising space is one of the most lucrative monetization methods. First and foremost because it enables you to cut out the middleman commissions and to determine your own rates. The most popular banner formats on the web are the 728×90 leaderboard, the 120×600 skyscraper, the 300×250 rectangle and the 125×125 button.

The downside of direct banner advertising is that you need to have a big audience to get qualified advertisers, and you will need to spend time managing the sales process, the banners and the payments.

4. Text Link Ads

After Google declared that sites selling text links without the nofollow tag would be penalized, this monetization method became less popular.

Affiliates can send potential customers to the merchant using several tools, from banners to text links and product reviews.

Their main differentiator, however, is the fact that they work as web widgets, making it easier for the user to plug and play the service on its website.

7. Sponsored Reviews

Joining one of these sponsored reviews marketplaces will give you the opportunity to write sponsored posts on a wide range of topics. Not all bloggers are willing to get paid to write about a specific product or website (because it might compromise the editorial credibility), but the ones who do are making good money out of it.

If your blog has a big audience you could also offer sponsored reviews directly, cutting off the commissions of the middleman.

8. RSS Feed Ads

Finally, some blogs are also opting to sell banners or sponsored messages on their feed directly. John Chow and Marketing Pilgrim are two examples.

9. Sponsors for Single Columns or Events

If you website has specific columns or events (e.g., a weekly podcast, an interview series, a monthly survey, a special project) you could find companies to sponsor them individually.

This method increases the monetization options for website owner, while giving advertisers the possibility to target a more specific audience and with a reduced commitment.

Mashable illustrates the case well. They have several advertising options on the site, including the possibility to sponsor specific columns and articles, including the “Daily Poll” and the “Web 2.0 Invites.”

Problogger also runs group writing projects occasionally, and before proceeding he publicly announce the project asking for sponsors.

10.Premium Content

Some websites and blogs give away part of their content for free, and charge for access to the premium content and exclusive tools.

SEOMoz is a good example. They have a very popular blog that gives advice and information on wide range of SEO related topics. On top of that visitors can decide to become premium members. It costs $48 monthly and it grants them access to guides, tools and other exclusive material.

11. Private Forums

While the Internet is populated with free forums, there is also the possibility to create a private one where members need to pay a single or recurring fee to join.

SEO Blackhat charges $100 monthly from its members, and they have thousands of them. Obviously in order to charge such a price for a forum membership you need to provide real value for the members (e.g., secret techniques, tools, and so on).

Performancing also launched a private forum recently, focused on the networking aspect. It is called The Hive, and the monthly cost is $10.

These are just two examples. There are many possibilities to create a private and profitable forum, you just need to find an appealing angle that will make it worth for the members.

12. Job Boards

All the popular blogs are trying to leverage job boards to make some extra income. Guy Kawasaki, ReadWriteWeb, Problogger… you name it.

Needless to say that in order to create an active and profitable job board you need first to have a blog focused on a specific niche, and a decent amount traffic.

The advantage of this method is that it is passive. Once you have the structure in place, the job listings will come naturally, and you can charge anywhere from $10 up to $100 for each.

13. Marketplaces

Sitepoint is the online marketplace by excellence. Some websites and blogs, however, are trying to replicate that model on a smaller scale.

Depending on your niche, a market place that allows your visitors to buy, sell and trade products could work well. Over the time you could start charging a small fee for new product listings.

The problem with this method is that there are no standard software on the web, so you would need to hire a coder to get a marketplace integrated into your website.

You can see an example of a marketplaces being used on EasyWordpress and on Mashable.

14. Paid Surveys and Polls

There are services that will pay you money to run a small survey or poll on your website. The most popular one is called Vizu Answers.

Basically you need to sign up with them, and select the kind of polls that you want to run your site. Most of these services operate under a CPM model.

15. Selling or Renting Internal Pages

Million Dollar Wiki made this concept popular, but it was being used on the web for a long time around (check Pagerank10.co.uk for instance).

These websites sell for a single fee or rent for a recurring fee internal pages on their domain. Usually they have either high Pagerak or high traffic, so that people purchasing a page will be able to benefit in some way.

Implementing this method on a small blog would be difficult, but the concept is interesting and could be explored further.

16. Highlighted Posts from Sponsors

Techmeme probably pioneered this idea, but somehow it has not spread to other websites. The tech news aggregator displays editorial posts on the left column, and on the sidebar they have a section titled “Techmeme Sponsor Posts.”

On that section posts from the blog of the advertisers get highlighted, sending qualified traffic their way. Considering that the monthly cost for one spot is $5000 and that they have around 6 sponsors at any given time, it must be working well.

17. Donations

Placing a “Donate” link or button on a website can be an efficient way to earn money, especially if your blog is on a niche where readers learn and gain value from your content.

Personal development and productivity blogs, for instance, tend to perform well with donation based systems (one good example being Steve Pavlina).

A small variation of this method appeared sometime ago with the Buy Me a Beer plugin. This WordPress plugin enables you to insert a customized message at the bottom of each article, asking the readers to chip in for a beer or coffee.

18. In-text Adverting

In-text adverting networks like Kontera and Vibrant Media will place sponsored links inside your text. These links come with a double underline to differentiate them from normal links, and once the user rolls the mouse over the link the advertising will pop. Should the user click on it the site owner will make some money.

Some people make good money with this method, but others refrain from using it due to its intrusiveness. It is also interesting to note that very few mainstream websites have experimented with in-text advertising.

19. Pop-ups and Pop-unders

Pop-ups are a common yet annoying form of advertising on the Internet. If you are just trying to make a much money as possible from your website, you could experiment with them.

If you are trying to grow the traffic and generate loyal visitors, however, you probably should stay away from them. Just consider the hundreds of pop-up blockers out there: there is a reason why they are so popular.

20. Audio Ads

Also called PPP (Pay Per Play), this advertising method was introduce by Net Audio Ads. the concept is pretty simple: play a small audio advertising (usually 5 seconds) every time a visitor enters into your website. The user should not be able to stop it, creating a 100% conversion rate based on unique visitors.

The company is still rolling tests, but some users are reporting to get from a $4 to a $6 CPM. Regardless of the pay rate, though, this is a very intrusive form of advertising, so think twice before using it.

21. Selling the Website

Selling your website could be your last resource, but it has the potential to generate a big sum of money in a short period of time.

Market places on online forums like DigitalPoint and Sitepoint are always active with website buyers and sellers. Yesterday, I went to Mall Bali Galeria and in that mall I bought some donuts.

Tomorrow, I will have a activity from my organization at school(KIRS-4 *organization that study about essay). In that activity, we'll get tested about essay by a game like treasure hunt.
We need to find a place that suitable with the clue given.
And the seniors from the organization, asked us to bring a lot of things, such as cassava chips, cheers mineral water, etc....
I feel that's this activity is the same as my first experience in school orientation when I go to senior high school(grade X).
It just like a discrimination.....
and I don't like it very much

Nick and Starr Spangles won on The Amazing Race 13 (season 13 finale) Sunday night. They will be splitting the one million dollar prize. The final season of Amazing Race 13, began in Moscow with the top three teams - Nick and Starr, Ken and Tina, and Andrew and Dan.

Nick and Starr finished first, followed by Ken and Tina. Andrew and Dan were the last team to arrive at the zip line.

Today, I heard from a friend at school that some teachers are talking 'bout my friend, Kevin.
They said that he's a lazy boy because every morning, Kevin always run away from piket *cleaning work for every morning. and they said about race of people. * in balinese language first teacher said " KePin tu daye kali dia, kabur dia ga piket...."
" biasalah, nak CINA !!!" the second teacher replied
* cina = Chinese race

and how sad am I heard that...
because I'm also Chinese
and whether I'm Chinese or not, its so unfair...
why other children that's Balinese that didn't do the *piket don't get anything like that. Why only Chinese children ?
is this the custom of the Balinese people... always said bad things about the Chinese ?
because I already feel it from my neighbors too...
Do the teachers are allowed to discriminate their own students because of the differences of their race?
I was very sad to hear that.....
