Karen Horton’s stamp collection is always intriguing, but I found this recently added Nigerian Peaceful Use of Outer Space stamp to be so amazing that I just had to spotlight it here. The colors, the type, and the illustrations are amazing, and I would marry that gritty background gradient if I could.

Scrapertown is a short documentary about a movement started in Oakland that keeps kids out of trouble by getting them into decorating their bikes. It’s a breath of fresh air, and will boost your faith in humanity for sure. The beautiful video was created by California is a Place.

I love the vintage style matchbook designs created for the music video for the Navigator’s song “My Place”. The amazing designs were created by Pavel Fuksa.

A lot of artists have done the whole “create something everyday” thing, buy what grabbed my attention about Casey Britt‘s attempt is his website cataloging it, entitled, IAMYOURFAVORITE. Go ahead, click on a thumbnail, or click “about”, it’s exciting yet functional and not annoying. It is a very nice usage of what I’m guessing is jquery, and, of course, the quality of the actual content helps create an overall pleasant web browsing experience.

This made me laugh, I don’t think I ever seen anything else brag that the product was so new that the package design wasn’t completed yet.

This photo by Heather Raye took my breath away, it almost looks like a photo taken on the moon!

The amazing design book collector/sharer Jonathan Turner (insect54) started a Flickr group called Autografik for images of vehicles with modern graphic design applied to them. There’s a lot of good stuff in there and the group is just getting started!

I saw this “COLD GOODS” mini fridge and I just had to share it. My buddy Jonny bought some cheap and ugly mini fridge on Craigslist and decided to turn it into pretty much the awesomest mini fridge ever made.

I like where this series of simplified insects and bugs based on the golden ratio is going. It’s being made by Graphic Nothing, who describes his own work as “Retro Futuristic Folk Graphics – until that is, I can think of an even more absurd pretentious description.”

I love the cover for this 1975 Soviet Children’s Encyclopedia. This is “Technics & Manufacture”, there are also images for “Foreign Countries” and “History” thanks to Flickr user TAKECARE.

This is a very nice retro inspired identity system for “The Terry Shop” created by Ed Nacional.

These Travolta graphics by Curtis Wingate just made me laugh. You really can’t get much more awesomeness into an image.

It’s a photo of Ernest Hemmingway kicking a can, and probably one of the most poeticly simple and powerful photos I have ever seen.

I had said in my last post that I was posting my favorite work by Mark Weaver, but then he had to go and make this beauty!

Something about this Concorde ticket holder from 1963 just awes me. I can’t remember what my recent ticket holders looked like but I know none of them were this beautiful. That white on black tightly kerned Concorde is perfect, and I love how the lowercase “i” in “airways” is missing the dot so that the even space between the two words isn’t disrupted.

I don’t much about this, other than that it is some kind of diagram, it’s from 1887, and it’s awesome.

As most people already know, Mark Weaver does a lot of cool stuff, but this is probably my favorite. EDIT: It’s avaliable as a print on his Etsy store.

Pretty sweet cake design, the noisy iphone photo quality only adds to it in my opinion.

I’m tempted to buy this print of a Sarah Watts illustration for an M. Ward show; that elephant is amazing!

This is totally the type of toy I’d want my future kids to have, but $35 is a little steep. Doesn’t look too hard to make though…

Speaking of cameras, how awesome is this Polaroid Swinger? I’d love to have one just to look at.

Golden Porsche Sessions is still churning out mysterious graphics that delight and intrigue me. That font is beautiful!

This is the winner of a logo contest for the Hugo Awards judged by Irene Gallo, Neil Gaiman, and Chip Kidd. This might be one of my favorite logos ever and for some reason I want to describe it as “charming”.
