It was just the other day as we all made ready for the Soccer World Cup

Now today its Goodbye as we see the media team of Fuji Television - Sport leaves.

The Japanese Soccer Team went through to round 16 when they won against Denmark 3 - 1

The Team moved this morning to Pretoria as they will play on Tuesday in Pretoria

As the media team of Fuji leaves us some of them will be going back to Japan and some will be at the game on Tuesday

The Princess may fly to George with the Japanese soccer team the "Samurai Blues" on 6 June. Thomas Cronje of the embassy in Tokio said no details are available as the security for such high profile people must be kept a secret till the last moment.

Unfortunately as all things in life prices do escalate and we also had a rate increase in January but we feel we have added value to our rooms and facilities to justify this increase and give the client the benefit thereof.

In preparation of the world-renowned event in June 2010 namely the Soccer world cup, we have up to our game and herewith want to share all our renovations and additions done to the George Lodge International with you.

ROOMS

Our 22 en-suite rooms have been individually redecorated for individual style, comfort and relaxation yet still appropriate for the business traveller, who wants to work in his room. The renovations included linen, curtains, and headboards for the beds, new furniture, hairdryers and also new carpets. For a more individual approach to our client’s needs we have a variety of bed settings to choose from i.e.: single, double, and family as well as a choice of three self-catering rooms. With a choice of either a room with a bath or shower, we make sure that we accommodate all individual preferences.
Our rooms are equipped with 74 cm slim fit TV’s with a choice of 11 channels to choose from, for those who prefer work to watching TV, our room is designed with a designated working area as well as wireless connectivity is available in all the areas of the lodge.

For the benefit of the our female guests who wants to look their best, we have fitted new hairdryers in all our rooms. We also supply each client with complimentary bottle of George Lodge branded water.
Breakfast is complimentary with your accommodation rate and consists of a continental breakfast buffet followed with your choice of our hot breakfast.

We do not supply dinner on the premises, but a variety of excellent restaurants are within walking distance of our establishment. For the business traveller, arrangements have been made to give the allocated amount made by his/her company in cash, and the choice of restaurant rest with the client. We are proud to say that our conference facilities have been upgraded, renovated and redecorated and is now a real state of the art facility. The venue has been fully carpeted, fitted with new curtains, tables, lights, wall décor as well as air conditioners. It has all the standard conference equipment as well as a data projector. The venue can fit up 50 people in various seating arrangements and has ample space for relaxation as well as training. It also has a designated smoking area.

Point to pointThe Nedbank Outeniqua Marathon - starting from George Sports Club, and the half marathon - starting from George Dam, must be considered one of the hidden gems on the South African race calendar. Nothing can beat the vista of the soaring Outeniqua peaks mirrored in the tranquil water of the George Dam. The race is run mainly along one of Thomas Bain’s passes of 1867. It tumbles down from Saasveld just outside George, and winds its way through magnificent indigenous forests. You run past the deep gorges of the Kaaimans and Silver rivers along old tar and dust roads. There are stretches when it’s just you, the forest and mountains around you, and the sound of running water in your ears. On this course, you will find a rare gift in the closing kilometres. There is a secret beauty when Indian Ocean, Garden Route lakes and the winding serpentine river combine with a heady mixture of ocean mist to give you a running high found only in those special, singular moments when you are at one with yourself. A few hundred metres from the end you cross the bridge used by the famous Outeniqua Choo-Choo. Finally, this little odyssey comes to an end on the grassy banks of the Touws River in the heart of the Wilderness.

The Nedbank Outeniqua Marathon has been consistently ranked by the Runner’s World race judges as a well organised and well presented event. Over the last four years it achieved distinction and a place in South Africa’s best loved races. It was voted the fourth best marathon. Walkers are welcome to enter the half marathon. This event starts at 08h00 from the Garden Route Dam and has a 03:00 cut-off. A 5 km fun run starts from the Wilderness at 09h00. This race celebrates its 21st birthday this year.

Garden Route Municipalities gets R140 Million

The government's long-awaited roll out of R140 million in the drought-relief funding to the Garden Route municipalities started. Eden District Municipality disaster management head Gerhard Otto said on Monday that the money will be spend on desalination and waste water recycling pants planned for towns along the Garden Route. The relief funding roll out will be completed by May or June. At capacity the Sedgefield osmosis plant can produce 1.5 million litres of water per day. This plant is the biggest desalination unit in South Africa but a bigger plant is planned for George. George has achieved to save 42 percent water while other town is on 38 percent.

Gerhard Otto said that normal rainfall was predicted for April. Normally this area does not receive much rain this time of the year. The drought started 18 months ago and is expected to continue.

George municipality awareness spokes person campaign coordinator Dianne McGowan said the pipes has been laid for the town's waste water recycling plant, which will be operational by mid June. McGowan also said the Garden Route dam levels are at 23,8 percent full the town having done well in lowering consumption.

37 year- - old artist raped 24 year - old at KKNK

A 37 year old artist (afrikaans singer) was arrested for allegedly raping a 24 year old woman (from mosselbay) at the Klein Karoo Nationale Kunstefees in Oudtshoorn this past weekend (Sunday). Southern Cape Police Spokesperson Malcolm Pojie said the incident happened at around 04:10 on Sunday morning in the Tente Dorp camping site of the Afrikaans art festival.

"He was offered a place to stay for the night and allegedly raped her on Sunday morning," Pojie said

At this stage Pojie did not want to reveal the 37 year old artist name.

Pojie said the victim was treated at hospital after laying the charge against the 37 year old artist at the Oudtshoorn police.

"He gave himself over at the police station with his legal representative." said Pojie

The artist's manager said her client was not in Oudtshoorn. "I also heard of it. All I can say is nothing is true. He is innocent; I know him very well, in fact I'm his ex-girlfriend."

The 37 year old artist was expected to appear on a charge of rape in the Oudtshoorn Magistrate Court on 8 April 2010

George Lodge International in action

On Saturday 20 February 2010 two of George Lodge International staff members took on the challenge to push a wheelchair with a disabled person in for 10 km in George.

Entries came from all over not just from South Africa from countries like Canada, France and the United Kingdom.

Celebrities like Paul Rothmann and Dieter Voigt from Pasella, Melanie Du Bois from 7 De Laan(felicity) and a finalise in Mr South Africa 2010 Jeff Tsoutsos was among the people that pushes a wheelchair for 10 km.
