Please be patient while we all work to make this a smooth transition. Use your current teacher's blog address until you are notified via email by your child's teacher.

The Georgetown Blog has moved to: http://georgetown.edublogs.org/

You can register for email updates on the main page of this site.

Again, thank you for your patience while we transition to new blogs!
Mrs. Reagan

Time and Talent Auction: Final Winners

Parents,

Thank you for your patience while we sort through the winning bids for the Time and Talent Auction. Mrs. Burdis and Mrs. Walenta worked to be 100% accurate with the time of the bid submissions and the highest bid for each item.

The winners are listed in the pdf document: TIME&TALENT WINNERS.pdf

The entire staff would like to extend their gratitude to you for participating in this important event. The money earned goes toward establishing a science scholarship to be awarded each year, beginning in 2015-16 (the year Grace would have graduated from HHS). The total amount earned: $1900.00!

Your support means so much to us...and the Thatchers.

Mrs. Reagan

Mr. Molecule Visits Georgetown

Mr. Molecule made an energetic and informative visit to Georgetown this past Friday (11/7/08). He taught us some interesting science facts using his WHEEL OF SCIENCE. Many students were able to participate in this entertaining and educational program. Many thanks to our PTC for funding this event!

Georgetown Student Work Arrives in Taiwan

Our sister school, Raey Guang Elementary, has our art work on display in their principal office. Mrs. Chung Wen Yu came to Georgetown on October 22, 2008. She returned shortly after with our very special gift that was created by our students with Mrs. Brouwer's assistance. The piece is on display in the photo below.

I am working with Chung Wen Yu to establish communication between our schools--staff, students, and parents. To view photos from the visit, click on this album: Taiwan

We are LOST and want to be FOUND!

Thanks to Michele DeWinter, we have started a new blog posting service: LOST & FOUND!

As a parent, I know that many children forget what that lost mitten, scarf, glove, hat, or sweatshirt looks like. This service is intended to help parents easily search for the items that may have been left at school.

Michele took photos of the lost items and these can be found in the album below. Each item is numbered. If you think one of these items belongs in your home, ask you child to BRING IT HOME! An email to your child's teacher would also help. Click on this album to view all items. Lost & Found

Popcan Fund Raiser A Success!

The Fifth Grade Celebration Committee Pop Can Drive was a great success. Thank you to everyone who donated! Georgetown Parents collectively dropped off 2,413 cans during Parent Teacher Conferences this past Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. These cans and a $10.00 cash donation raised to $251.30.

There were many volunteers who supported this project. Thank you to everyone for the time donated. Also, many thanks to John Lawrence who designed the posters; Kym Burdis for guided all of us; and Family Fare on Baldwin and Port Sheldon, for allowing us to return this large amount of cans! As always, Mr. Rob (school custodian) was key to the success of the project. He allowed us to use the large bins from the multi‑purpose room and the orange cones, making it easy for parents to identify where to drive up and drop off their donations. Unfortunately, Mr. Rob was against the idea of us driving around the Zamboni!

Great thanks to everyone from Kelly Barz, 5th Grade Parent and Chairperson of the Fundraising Poject
