Desde 1913 Estados Unidos ya no es un país capitalista. En ese año y aprovechando un receso legislativo, los Morgan, Rockefeller, Pulitzer y Rothchild engendraron la Fed, el mayor enemigo de la libertad y la ética en los EEUU. Para ironía del destino, el encuentro fue en la Isla de Jekyll. Antes de eso, el bando Jeffersoniano había resistido tajantemente los avances de los Hamiltonianos hacia la consolidación de un Estado central poderoso, subsidios para los ricos y devaluaciones para favorecer a los exportadores. Pero en ese año, el sistema de socialismo monetario logró status legal. En vez de corridas ("pánicos" bancarios) cada 30 años promedio, con el sistema de free banking, ahora el riesgo moral se distribuía a todo el sistema, se alentaban los préstamos de baja calidad y sobre todo se saqueaba a las grandes mayorías via inflación. La Gran Depresión fue su primer resultado, pues el M2 (circulante + depósitos y ahorros en el sistema) fue artificialmente aumentado por la Fed durante los irresponsables 1920's. A ese boom artificial le correspondía una quiebra masiva de inversiones sin ahorro real previo para financiarlas. Y para colmo, Hoover y Roosevelt no dejaron al mercado liquidar esas malas inversiones, sino que corrieron a intervenirlo (más Estado, menos mercado) para provocar que durara finalmente toda la década de los 1930's. La actual crisis tiene sus raices en la Fed y el afán voluntarista de "masificar la vivienda" por vias nada éticas. Baste saber que un centavo de 1913 compra ahora lo mismo que un dólar, un 99% de su valor perdido a costa de las clases medias. Esto financia booms artificiales de las punto-com, de la vivienda, invasiones a Irak y salvatajes a aerolíneas, bancos y corporaciones con suficiente peso político.

En 1913 también, el mismo grupo de magnates hizo aprobar el Impuesto a la Renta, que los tontos utiles siempre han creido una medida redistributiva. En realidad sí redistribuye: le quita a la gente emprendedora o profesional que lo quiere ser, para darles a las élites financieras de todos los paises que lucran de préstamos al gobierno y otros medios fiduciarios. El que dude de esto, sólo tiene que averiguar cuánto de cada dólar llega al supuesto beneficiario de todo lo "gratis" que nos ofrece el Estado. En las ONGs más efectivas se habla de tal vez $10 usd por cada $100 recibidos de donaciones, según un estudio multisectorial para la ONU, del 2006. ¿Cuánto logrará en eficiencia el Estado? Probablemente más, por temas de infraestructura y logística, pero no mucho más. El resto le da trabajo a toda una casta burocrática intocable. Entonces la redistribución es de los muchos sin conexiones, a los pocos bien conectados y apalancados en el sistema. Y a pesar de este retorno del feudalismo via impuestos (recordemos que el medioevo, la servidumbre se definía por un 30% de impuesto al señor feudal), en los últimos 25 años salió más gente de la pobreza en el planeta que en los últimos 400 años. La distribución del mercado masifica calidad de vida, la redistribución estatal corrompe a las sociedades de múltiples maneras.

Si 1913 marcó el inicio de dos instituciones totalmente anticapitalistas como son la banca central y el impuesto a la renta. Hasta no ser eliminadas, no se puede hablar de capitalismo ni culparle por crisis como la actual. El capitalismo puede parecerle a ud. más o menos bueno o malo, pero no se le debe culpar de lo que no maneja. Desde el golpe de Estado (y nos siguen golpeando bajo), los culpables son un puñado de plutócratas y los tontos útiles que venden su alma por una falsa estabilidad y una contraproducente redistribución en nombre de la justicial social.

The 20 Laws of Saving Money

HelpSaveMyDollars.com's The 20 Laws of Saving Money aim to save you the MOST amount of money each month. Try to incorporate as many of these laws as you can into your life.

Law 1: Change Your Thinking – This may sound like more of a psychological law than a financial law, but it is very important. Change your thinking simply means that in order to save money, never say the following statement: "Oh, it's only a few dollars!" NO! A few dollars here and a few dollars there will add up to lots of money––money that should belong in an emergency savings fund or money that should be put away for retirement and not used for purchasing unnecessary items. Regardless of how cheap the item is you want to buy, if you don't need it, don't buy it.

Law 2: Forget the Original Cost – You're in the clothing store and you are eyeing a beautiful new shirt that normally sells for $100, but is on sale at a final cost to you for $30. That's a 70% discount, which sounds great. But, if you don't have that $30 to "throw away" on a new shirt that you really don't need, then you should not buy the shirt, regardless of how much of a discount or bargain the store is offering you.

Law 3: Be Wary of Financial Advisors – Many, not all, financial "advisors" will advise you and encourage you to buy certain investments from them. You will most likely pay a very high commission to the advisor for these investments when you could have purchased these same investments (e.g. stocks, bonds, mutual funds, annuities) with very little to no commission, say at a discount brokerage firm. In this case, they are not financial advisors, but simply folks trying to sell you a product and who are looking out for their own best interest instead of yours. You should not only make sure that you are not getting ripped off from these commissions, but also make sure the information and advice your financial advisor is telling you is correct, up-to-date and accurate. If you don't trust your financial advisor, it is best to get a new one and follow your instincts.

Law 4: Indulge at Home – Those die-hard coffee lovers who buy coffee at a coffee shop for $5 everyday are spending $150 per month and over $1,800 per year on a cup of coffee alone! Outrageous! To save money and still enjoy your cup of joe, brew fresh coffee at home and bring it with you in a portable coffee cup to work so you can skip the daily (or bi-daily) coffee shop visit—and save money at the same time!

Law 5: Read it Online – If you subscribe to a newspaper or a magazine, it is best to cancel the subscription now! This is because in most cases, the same news articles or similar ones are posted on the publication's website, which is free for you! Save money by reading your favorite newspapers and magazine articles online.

Law 6: Lose the Gym Membership – It is so important to exercise to avoid health problems in the future. However, paying money to exercise may cause financial "health problems" too. Instead of paying to use the treadmill, go out to your favorite park or around your block for a run or jog. For lifting weights, dumbbells cost under $20 and work just as well as the ones at the gym.

Law 7: Go to the Library – New books can be expensive and since you only read the book once, there's no need to spend $20-$30 on a brand new book when you could take-out a book for free at your local library.

Law 8: Shop at Department Stores – You will save so much money in gasoline for your car if you shop at stores that cover all the basics: grocery, clothing, electronics, pharmacy and more. This way, you won't have to use up all of that gasoline by driving to each individual store. Department stores allow you to accomplish most of your shopping needs at one location! Good for your wallet and the environment.

Law 9: Eat In – Restaurants are expensive and although they can be fun experiences, the bill that comes at the end of the meal can be painful. It is extremely important to limit the number of restaurants/take-outs you utilize so you can save money. Bring your own lunch to work every day in order to stop spending $10 per day for lunch at the café. Open up the grocery store's circular and whatever foods are on sale is what you should buy to prepare for dinner that week.

Law 10: Make a List at the Grocery Store – And stick to that list! If you need milk, butter and eggs don't come out of the supermarket with orange juice, chocolate and potato chips. Not straying from your list of the items you NEED, will prevent you from spending money on foods that are frivolous. Also, it is important to not allow the foods you do purchase to sit in the back of the refrigerator and become spoiled—it will cost more money to replace these spoiled items.

Law 11: Clip Coupons – The Sunday newspaper is a great source for fantastic money saving coupons. There are also several online websites that offer free coupons. Also, check the manufacturer's website for direct coupons. Be sure to not let them expire.

Law 12: Sale Means Quantity – Whenever an item that you normally need and use is on sale (e.g. soap, paper, non-perishable items, pens) buy the largest quantity of that sale item as possible. This will ensure that you never pay the non-sale price for any of your essential products.

Law 13: Replace Light Bulbs with Compact Fluorescent Light (CFLs) – CFL bulbs use much less energy than those regular incandescent bulbs. Less energy means a lower electric bill. CFLs last longer (sometimes up to 6 years) and are better for the environment. They may cost a bit more than the regular light bulb, but they will eventually light up your wallet (pay for themselves) in a few years.

Law 14: Turn it Off – After you've finished watching the news or your favorite primetime show, do your bank account a favor and shut off the television. Also, don't keep the computer running overnight—it is not good for the computer nor will it save you money. Plus, to save even more money on your electric bill, unplug cell phone chargers when not charging your cell phone—the charger still uses electricity even when it's plugged into the outlet with no phone.

Law 15: No Cash, No Way – This law applies to credit cards. Unless you cannot eat without using your credit cards, try to use cash only on all of your day to day purchases (which should be very little!). This will for sure keep you out of debt (which will increase your credit score and eliminate the awful thought of interest accruing on your credit cards when a balance remains on them). Plus, you will spend less if you use cash because psychologically you are physically removing cash from your wallet, which visually shows your depleting cash supply—rather than using a piece of plastic as a way to purchase things.

Law 16: Never Use A Real Estate Agent – If you are selling your home or trying to rent it out, you can save a ton of money by selling your home by owner. Real estate agent fees can cost you as much as 4 to 6% of the selling price of the home, or if you're renting the house out, the agent's fee is usually 15% of the first year's annual rent. Although selling by owner will mean you will have to run the open houses, who knows your home better than you? NO ONE! Plus, there are tons of websites, which will allow you to list your home on the site for free or for a minimal charge. With determination, a great brochure to hand out to prospective buyers, and a professional yard sign, your home is bound to sell. Remember, you only need one buyer!

Law 17: Negotiate! – Whether you are buying fruit from a fruit stand off the street, buying a home or car, or buying a new pair of sneakers, ALWAYS ask for a lower price! You have nothing to lose––the worst thing the seller can say is "no"! For in-depth tips on HOW to negotiate, click here

Law 18: No More Paper Towels – You would be surprised how much you spend on paper towers each year! While paper towels are an easy way to clean up a mess or dry the dishes, they don't come cheap! Instead of paper towels, buy 10 to 15 washcloths (which costs less than a pack of paper towels) and use those to clean, dry your hands and dishes. Save money and trees!

Law 19: Invest in Stocks For The Long-Run – If you have money invested in the stock market, and you need it within 10 to 15 years, take it out of the market immediately!With the highly volatile and unpredictable stock market in this day in age, it could take decades to regain your losses. That's why stock market investing is best for the long-run.

Law 20: Re-Gift – Gifts can be very expensive. In this economy, there is no need for gifts. Try to not give gifts––call the person and show them your love in lieu of an expensive gift that will get you deeper into debt. If you absolutely insist on giving a gift, try to give the person a previous gift you've once received (re-gifting). This will save a lot of money and still put a smile on the recipient's face! Yielding to outside pressure, the Los Angeles Community College District has asked City Controller Wendy Greuel to investigate allegations that its selection of a watchdog to police its troubled campus construction program was rigged.

In a recent audit of the $5.7-billion program, state Controller John Chiang's office cited "possible malfeasance" in the district's hiring of Christine E. Marez as inspector general and urged an independent investigation.

Marez's newly formed company, Policy Masters Inc., was chosen last year over higher-rated applicants, even though she had no experience as an independent auditor or investigator.

From 1998 to 2003, Marez worked for a construction management firm owned by Art Gastelum, a leading campaign donor and fundraiser for the district's elected board members and a major contractor on the construction program.

Chancellor Daniel LaVista, who had recommended Marez's hiring to the board, initially rejected Chiang's call for an outside investigation. But board President Miguel Santiago announced Wednesday that Greuel would conduct an independent review.

Santiago promised to refer any evidence of criminal conduct to the district attorney's office.

Greuel said in an interview that district officials were "taking to heart what the auditor found, and wanted to have an independent look at the process to make sure it was appropriate."

The board also adopted a resolution directing LaVista to take corrective measures recommended by state auditors, including developing a construction master plan and written requirements for evaluating bidders. The resolution also called for an analysis of the district's renewable energy program to determine whether it will produce net savings.

Regarding the inspector general's hiring, state auditors found that an initial selection committee scored Marez's proposal second to last among 11 submitted. The district's bidding rules required that the contract to go to the highest scorer, auditors said. A second selection committee recommended Marez's firm as "far and away the best" applicant.

LaVista maintains that the auditors' findings were based on incorrect information and that Marez was ranked in the top tier in the first round. LaVista said Wednesday that state auditors were returning this week to question him on the issue.

Marez said she welcomed Greuel's review. She also defended her qualifications and called the state audit "seriously flawed in many respects."

"The company I created, Policy Masters, and the staff I have built have all of the requisite skills, experience, talent and commitment to create an exceptional office of inspector general for the district," she said. "And that is what we have done."

A citizen's group, the Van de Kamps Coalition, has asked Dist. Atty. Steve Cooley to open a criminal inquiry into Marez's hiring. An official in Cooley's public integrity unit said prosecutors had not yet reviewed the request but that Greuel's investigation would not rule out a separate criminal inquiry by the district attorney.

Still in pain from injury

I had a horrible night I couldn't sleep Cus of pain n the burning sensation in my arms it was 130 am n was tossing n turning. I still hav not heard anything from Raging Waters manager about my injury that happen I still will wait if I don't hear anything I will contact my union lawyer to follow up with this case.

Yesterday on drop out @ raging waters I had an accident I didn't want to go on the slide Cus I was afraid I Should of listen to my instinct n not gone but the lifeguard said there was no turn back b4 me 1 girl got injured that's y I didn't want to go. She made me go on it n due to the consequences this is what happen to me I went to customer service n made complaint about her n my injury the supervisor advised me that the lifeguard was given a warning n for me to go file a complaint. I hope that raging waters gives me a another day pass as for my injury as all of u can see that I'm still in pain n the cuts r still burning like F***k.

A vehicle purchase is often the second largest investment in a person's life. Wisconsin has laws and procedures in place to protect this investment. Similarly, warranties are also provided with vehicles to protect consumers. Wisconsin's Lemon Law, one of the strongest in the country, has now provided protection for Wisconsin consumers for over 24 years. Signed into law on November 3, 1983, it protects new car, motorcycle, truck, semi-truck, and motor home buyers by stating that a manufacturer must refund or replace a new vehicle if it turns out to be a "lemon".

Obtaining relief under the lemon law is a procedure that must be followed carefully. An attorney can be helpful in determining whether you have a lemon law claim and to guide you through the lemon law process. Our office has handled hundreds of lemon law and warranty litigation cases and is experienced in litigating these types of cases throughout the State of Wisconsin.

Under the law, a vehicle is considered a lemon if it has one or more defects that substantially impair its use, value or safety. Such defects must be covered by warranty, and problems must occur in the first year of the warranty coverage. Although defects and repair attempts must occur in the first year, vehicle owners have up to several years after that to file a lawsuit.

While every state has a lemon law, the strength of these laws vary greatly. Wisconsin's Lemon Law is stronger than most and has a number of unique features.

▪ The law provides for double damages if a consumer wins a Lemon Law case in court.

▪ The law provides for the manufacturer to pay actual attorney fees and costs if the consumer prevails.

▪ The Wisconsin Lemon Law covers commercial vehicles. In many states, large commercial trucks have no protection.

▪ There is no mileage limitation.

▪ There is no express statute of limitations for filing a lawsuit.

▪ The law requires arbitration boards that have been certified by the state to strictly apply the lemon law to their decisions.

▪ Titles of "lemon" vehicles are branded "manufacturer buyback vehicle" making them more easily identifiable.

A consumer whose vehicle meets the definition of a lemon, having a substantial defect or condition, four repair attempts for the same problem or 30 days out of service for a variety of problems, needs to first contact the manufacturer to request a refund or replacement. The manufacturer has 30 days to respond. If the manufacturer does not respond or offer a refund or replacement vehicle, the consumer has a private right of action to sue the manufacturer in court. A consumer who wins a Lemon law suit will be awarded double damages, plus other costs and attorney fees. Wisconsin Lemon Aid is a web site dedicated to the trust of the consumer. HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?

Erin Brockovich Called in to Oil-Tainted Carson Neighborhood

Developers were so resourceful in the sixties--when they wanted to build single family houses on a 50 acre tract formerly used as an oil tank farm, they just slapped a cute name like Carousel on it and watched the buyers roll in. Flash forward, and about 285 homeowners in the Carson neighborhood of Carousel are in the middle of a lawsuit against Shell Oil, developer Barclay Hollander Corporation (now owned by Dole Foods), and others, following the discovery of scary amounts of methane and the carcinogen benzene in the land. Activist Erin Brockovich brought in her go-to law firm Girardi and Keese to represent the homeowners. According to the LA Times, Shell used the land to store oil in concrete tubs covered with wood from 1924 until the mid-sixties. Lawyer Tom Girardi says Shell knew the area was polluted when it sold it, and the executive officer of the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, which is overseeing soil testing in Carousel, told the LAT no one would be allowed to build on the site today.

In December the Daily Breeze reported that real estate agents are having trouble closing escrow in Carousel, and that "There are almost no 'For Sale' signs up in the neighborhood, because agents have learned that they draw too much negative attention." All of the experts the paper rounded up seem pretty horrified at the contaminant levels, and the water board has told residents not to eat food grown in their yards. The LAT and the Daily Breeze have both dug up plenty of anecdotes about surprising health issues.
The water board says Shell is responsible for the cleanup, but Shell says it's the developer's problem. That is, if there even is a problem and if it's even caused by the former oil storage. The LAT says "Gene Freed, Shell's project manager, said chemical residue at some homes could have been left behind by previous owners who enjoyed fiddling with cars, or been from pesticides or other household chemicals."

The man at the center of what may be the worst corruption scandal in California history was in court today, dozing off.
Robert Rizzo, the former city manager of Bell, Calif., shocked the nation when it was revealed that his salary in office was $800,000 a year.
Now, the Justice Department has uncovered a document that may help explain, in part, how city leaders financed their lavish salaries. The one-page memo was titled "Bell Police Department Baseball Game."

"All of this was just a means by Rizzo to nickel and dime the community to death to get more money out of them," Christina Garcia, a community activist, said.

The memo assigned "hits" to traffic violations and infractions. Officers could score a "single" by giving out parking tickets. Impounding a car was worth a "triple." Police in Bell charged up to $2,000 for drivers to get their vehicles back -- many times more than any other community in the Los Angeles area.
Bell took in $1 million by impounding cars in 2008.
"This was a conspiracy, this was several people who said we are going to screw this community out of their livelihoods, and some people lost their homes," Bell resident Nester Enrique Valencia said.
Bell Police Officer Kurt Owens said he suffered consequences when he objected to the policy.
"I got a negative evaluation because I was in opposition to this plan, and it said right in there, that I don't go along with the program," he said.
Former Police Chief Randy Adams, who made more than $400,000 a year, has not been charged with any crime.
"I know that one day Police Chief Randy Adams went out there and impounded something like 15 cars just to give a lesson to his officers," Garcia said.
The U.S. Justice Department is investigating to determine if Bell city leaders were violating the citizens' rights. The deeper they dig, the more outrageous it appears to members of the community.
In a statement, the police union said the memo was "merely a parody of Robert Rizzo's profoundly nonsensical 'towing policy.'"

Erin Brockovich may be the most famous class action plaintiff—so famous, in fact, that Julia Roberts played her in a movie named after her. But she’s certainly not the only lead plaintiff to claim restitution from a misbehaving corporation, not to mention the thousands of other plaintiffs behind each case who may not even know about their involvement until they receive settlement checks.
How Class Action Suits Work
According to the legal-consulting Web site FreeAdvice.com, there are three requirements for certification of a class action lawsuit: the claim must be deemed legal; the group of plaintiffs must have the same complaint and be of such size that individual claims would be too time-consuming and costly for the court; and the lead plaintiff must stand to represent the entire class fairly and accurately, and ensure that monetary awards are distributed appropriately.
Once attorneys have obtained certification from the court, the original plaintiffs must notify potential claimants of the lawsuit through mail and media. Those notified may opt in to the lawsuit or choose not to participate. Here’s where it gets tricky. If an individual joins the suit, she will be unable to pursue future claims against the company. If she fails to opt out by missing the deadline to do so, she will still be represented in the case and will forfeit future claims, regardless of the court’s decision.
That’s a great reason to read all your mail carefully.
Pacific Gas and Electric
With Erin Brockovich as lead plaintiff, attorneys of the class action lawsuit against Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) in 1993 alleged that the company was aware that harmful chemicals—especially hexavalent chromium, also known as chromium(VI)—used in production were seeping into the groundwater and contaminating the water supply in the surrounding town of Hinkley, California. As a result of ingesting chromium(VI), Hinkley residents became ill with various forms of cancer and fertility problems, among other health issues.
According to David Seaman of MainStreet.com, the PG&E case resulted in the largest settlement ever paid in a direct action lawsuit in U.S. history. The court ruled in favor of the Hinkley citizens in 1996, and the energy company was forced to pay a total of $295 million to 1,100 people (about $268,000 per person).

Last year I replaced all the windows in my house with that expensive double-pane energy-efficient kind, and today, I got a call from the contractor who installed them. He was complaining that the work had been completed a whole year ago and I still hadn't paid for them. Hellloooo,.............just because I'm blonde doesn't mean that I am automatically stupid.. So, I told him just what his fast-talking sales guy had told me last year, that in ONE YEAR these windows would pay for themselves! Helllooooo? It's been a year! I told him. There was only silence at the other end of the line, so I finally just hung up. He never called back. I bet he felt like an idiot.

She is still selling all her albums and most of them has become no 1 in the top charts.
