The video quality is crappy – recorded on the iSight over crappy wifi after which it was compressed by UStream and then converted from flash to mov and then processed by iMovie where it was uploaded to Viddler and further compressed and encoded.

Last year an Israeli spy was executed in Iran for importing “tainted” communications equipment for one of Iran’s secret military projects. This equipment was likely equipped with malware created by Israeli cyberspies to allow them to take control of the hardware should they need to.

Iranian media quoted a security official as saying that Ashtari’s actions “led to the defeat of the project with irreversible damage.” Israel declined all comment on the case. >via Reuters

In 2007 Israel instituted a air based bombing raid on a suspected atomic reactor in Syria. The attack was preceeded by a cyber attack that rendered Syrian’s ground radar and anti-aircraft systems useless.

According to the book “State Of War” by NYTimes reported James Risen – the CIA and the Israeli Mossad had plans to use electromagnetic-pulse devices to fry power lines heading to nuclear power facilities in Iran.

Via a recent Reuters report…

Asked to speculate about how Israel might target Iran, Borg said malware — a commonly used abbreviation for “malicious software” — could be inserted to corrupt, commandeer or crash the controls of sensitive sites like uranium enrichment plants.

Such attacks could be immediate, he said. Or they might be latent, with the malware loitering unseen and awaiting an external trigger, or pre-set to strike automatically when the infected facility reaches a more critical level of activity.

At least 35 government and commercial Web sites in South Korea and the United States came under major attack over the past several days, fueling suspicions of involvement by North Korea or its sympathizers.

Websites attacked include departments of Homeland Defense, Federal Trade Commission, Yahoo! Finance, Whitehouse.gov, and the Washington Post itself. The full list of websites attacked is available here. South Korean government websites were also attacked.

The attacks were of the DDoS nature – “Distributed Denial of Service”. The hackers gained access to a “botnet” – or a ring of 50,000 computers interconnected to implement the attack.

Can the U.S. survive a cyberwar? We aren’t sure – but thankfully the Obama administration is stepping up where the Bush administration totally failed.

1. Evernote
Allows you capture ideas with voice, text, pictures… How do I use it? Whenever I have an idea I record a voice note and upload it. Whenever I draw something out on the whiteboard in my office, I take a picture and upload it to Evernote. The possibilities are endless… Free your mind.

2. GroundWork
We use Basecamp for project management (you should too). GroundWork allows me to manage these projects via the iPhone. ‘Nuff Said.

3. AnalyticsApp
At 48Web part of our internet marketing and web strategy consulting is analyzing client’s web analytics. With AnalyticsApp I can do that on the fly. If I get an email with an analytics question I can quickly jump into that client’s web analytics to answer the question. For an analytics & stats junkie this is a great drug.

4. Less Accounting
Even though we loathe and despise accounting – it’s something we have to do in business. Our app of choice is Less Accounting and they have an iPhone App! Now I can do the thing I hate the most whenever I want! Damn.

5. Remember The Milk
What was I sposed to do today? Hmm… I’ll check RIM on my iPHone to find out! I’ve been using Remember The Milk for a long time and it’s earned a spot on my iPhone as well – to keep track of tasks on the go.

This is traffic I wasn’t getting before when the site was on WordPress… This has nothing to do with SEO benefits of Posterous – but its natural ability to generate traffic using your existing social networks combined with the ease of publishing content.

Here’s Steve Rubel’s workflow, which illustrates my point…

Let’s dive in to the numbers and figure out why traffic is up on my personal blog. I never posted to the WordPress version site because I simply did not have time while managing this blog, the internet business podcast blog, my web strategy blog – among all the other projects I am actively working on.

However I do have time to upload pictures to Flickr, update Twitter, push ideas to Evernote – from my iPhone. Half of the genius behind Posterous is the absolute ease in posting anything – all through email.

The other half are the push notifications to your social networks. There are no extra steps to post your content to Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook, etc. These content outposts are driving ALL of the traffic to the site – through Posterous’ push notification system.

It takes me 30 seconds to write an email, post to Posterous, and let the traffic come in. Oh – and comments work by email as well (much like Disqus). So if someone comments on a post, it gets emailed to me, and I reply to that email and it gets posted to the site. Brilliant.

So what does all this mean? Well not much aside from an extension of my personal brand that otherwise didn’t exist while using WordPress. The traffic isn’t important – I’m not converting on it – but it’s traffic that otherwise didn’t exist.

It took 5 minutes to setup and a half hour to sync my existing comments – which was what I was worried about. It even maintained the nested comment structure in place on existing comments – I didn’t expect that.

Now you’d think Microsoft would have learned from the marketing debacle that was Vista. Here’s the pricing info for Windows 7, announced today.

These estimated retail prices for upgrade packaged retail product of Windows 7 in the U.S. are:

• Windows 7 Home Premium (Upgrade): $119.99
• Windows 7 Professional (Upgrade): $199.99
• Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgrade): $219.99

And the estimated retail prices for full packaged retail product of Windows 7 in the U.S. are:

• Windows 7 Home Premium (Full): $199.99
• Windows 7 Professional (Full): $299.99
• Windows 7 Ultimate (Full): $319.99

Confused yet? So am I.

I have a MacBook and a PC. I’ll definitely be upgrading to Snow Leopard. But there is no way I am $220 to upgrade my Vista Ultimate machine to Windows 7 Ultimate – if that’s even the right upgrade path. But if you want to – it will be available on October 22!

Oh Microsoft haven’t you figured out that less is more? Why so many choices? At least the case is easy to open.
