But what is the subconscious mind and why can&#8217;t we make the changes we want consciously using will power alone.</p>
<p>The subconscious mind is a model that we use to represent the part of your mind that stores all your past experiences and memories and contains the values and beliefs by which you live your life. It&#8217;s also the part of your mind that looks after anything that your not consciously aware of and brings to your conscious awareness anything that needs attention.</p>
<p>Right now while your reading this blog entry, you&#8217;re only consciously aware of a few things, the things you are directing your attention towards. However, there are many other things that you are not consciously aware of that your subconscious is looking after for you.  If I were to direct your focus and attention to your left ear, you&#8217;ll begin to notice it now. You&#8217;ll become aware of how if feels right now and even any sounds that you can hear with that ear now.  A moment ago you weren&#8217;t aware of that ear because you were not paying conscious attention to it. However, if a fly landed on your ear, you would immediately become aware of it because your subconscious mind would bring it to your conscious awareness.  There are millions of things from moment to moment that you are deleting, distorting and chunking in order not to overwhelm your conscious mind, however your subconscious mind is processing them all, millions of bits of information at any given time.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s look at deleting for a moment.  If you don&#8217;t care about blue Honda Civics then a thousand of them could drive by you and you wouldn&#8217;t pay any attention to them, you would simply delete them from your awareness. If however, you were considering buying a blue Honda Civic, you would begin to notice all of them.</p>
<p>Distortion means that you consciously see, hear and feel certain things but change their meaning in order to meet your needs.  A common example of this is when someone is dating a complete jerk but thinks they are the best thing on the planet. All their friends are asking, why can&#8217;t they see what they are really like!  They can&#8217;t see it because they are distorting the information in a way that meets their needs.</p>
<p>Chunking refers to your ability to group things together in order to avoid processing them as individual parts. This is especially useful for repetitive tasks like opening doors. We don&#8217;t get to a door and then open it by thinking about each step, grab the handle, turn the handle, pull the door, step through the door, etc&#8230; We have chunked or grouped everything together so we can go through it without thinking about it.  We chunk things together alot in order to make things easier and we don&#8217;t just do it with doors, we do it with peoples behaviours and lots of things we do on a regular basis.  The challenge is that when we have chunked things together to make them easy and we don&#8217;t have to think about them then we may find ourselves doing those tasks like robots, without consciously thinking about them.  What things in your life have become so automatic that you don&#8217;t have to think about them and do those things serve you in a positive way?  When something is automatic and no longer serves you in a positive way, it can be difficult to change without changing things in the subconscious.</p>
<p>So our Subconscious Mind is essentially everything that we are, that we are not consciously aware of at any given time.  It&#8217;s the part of us that knows why we do the things we do, it knows what motivates us and what we are afraid of and it&#8217;s prime directive is to protect us.  If you want to make changes in your life, but find yourself reverting back to old behaviours, your subconscious knows why.  By improving communication between your conscious and subconscious mind with hypnosis, you can begin to make lasting changes, take control of your focus and attention and create new behaviours that serve you in a positive way and lead you towards your goals and dreams.</p>

Perhaps you&#8217;re beginning to wonder why the hell you even get out of bed in the morning, then you remember you&#8217;ve got bills to pay, that&#8217;s why.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve forgotten what is was like when you were a child and you woke up thinking that anything was possible! You wanted to learn new things, have fun and explore the world around you. Where did that person disappear to? Now it seems like you worry all the time about money, time, your relationship and it seems like you have no time for yourself. How can you change the way you feel about yourself, your life and your very existence? Is it possible to get those feelings back from when you were a child, or are they lost forever?</p>
<p>Surely the world is still filled with wonder and possibility so what changed? When you were a child you didn&#8217;t have much to worry about, you had all the time in the world and your mind was open and ready to learn. Over the years you&#8217;ve learned how to focus on life&#8217;s problems and challenges and to look at them as something bad rather than something that helps you to learn and grow as a human being. Every experience we have teaches us something and has some element, no matter how small, that is positive or has a positive intention. Clearly looking at problems as bad things vs looking at them as things that help us grow is a huge shift in thinking. Is it possible to make such a massive change after all these years?</p>
<p>What if you just pretended that the challenges and problems in life were showing up to teach you something? What if you adopted a model of looking at things where each time you solved a problem or dealt with a challenge you got stronger and more capable to handle anything in your life! What if you awoke tomorrow and pretended that you could take some time for yourself and that the world is yours to discover and explore! What if you were to just pretend that you didn&#8217;t care about the news, or what people&#8217;s opinions of you or why they find whining and bitching to be so damn entertaining. What if you pretended you were free again!</p>

The things we focus on and notice begin to change to support our current beliefs. So if we pretend that we believe that we are capable of anything, happy, free and that things will always work out, eventually our reality begins to fulfill this request and pretty soon we can move from pretending to pretending we&#8217;re not pretending any more.</p>
<p>Accelerating this process is quite easy when you engage the subconscious mind in the process of the transformation by relaxing completely and using your imagination to see, hear and feel what it will be like in the future when things in your life are going just the way you want them to. The more clearly your imagine it, the more emotion you allow to be part of the process, the faster your subconscious mind will begin to transform your outlook, change what you focus on, re-organize what&#8217;s important and what can be ignored and allow you to begin to make different decisions that lead you to feeling good and beginning to live the life you want again.</p>
