as the 2000's were stretching out and starting a warm up lap, three boys from iowa burst from the starter blocks with fearsome energy. unleashing their self titled debut on us, the horrors set out their stall in an uncompromising fashion: all vicious guitar swipes and barely comprehensible vocal snarls, lovingly steeped in the kind of production values which can only be achieved by recording into a dictaphone while trapped at the bottom of a well. a reasonably vile, pointy toothed racket, its a record that showcased the precocious - if rough edged - talent which the horrors were soon to tap into proper.

come 2003 the band had switched drummers, and were ready to make good on their promise, putting out a belter of an album, recorded in memphis under the watchful eyes and skilled ears of don easley and greg cartwright. vent was a quantum leap forward for the horrors, 3 years on the clock and a smart production team on board assured that the songs were tighter, and catchier than a dose of ebola, yet had lost none of that deeply desirable swagger and leer. this is a collection of tracks that would get you falling down drunk, take yr lunch money, steal yr woman, disrespect yr mother, piss on yr chips and still leave you wanting to hook up for another playdate the following weekend. trashy garage rock served with side of heartbroken, ramshackle blues and a large cup of bile? yes thanks, and whats more, you can supersize that for me.
