It's Border Punch Day

I love love love my border punches & can't get enough of them.  This project was so much fun!  I used my porder punch for the hints of red on my layout:

These funny & weird pictures are of my husband on the day that he got his c-pap machine.  He has sleep apnea & his snoring was way way out of control.  It was to the point where we were not sleeping in the same room anymore.  Finally he had a sleep study & was put imediately on a c-pap mahcine.  He now feels so much better, & so do I, because I can sleep in peace now!  Have a fabulous day! ~Anneliese~

Bird Graphic Card

Hello, everyone. Today I have a card that was inspired by a leftover embellishment given to me by someone at a monthly crop I attend. This nice lady works for a card company and she brings us the extra embellishments when she can. I've had this "birds with a nest" embellie sitting in my inspiration box for a few months, waiting for the right opportunity to use it. As sometimes happens, luck struck when I had some paper scraps sitting on my craft table, not more than 12 inches away from my little embellie. Wow, the paper color was the perfect match for the velvet bow already attached to the oval graphic!

I always knew I wanted this shape to be in a frame of some sort so I quickly set to work to find the right shaped frame. I tried out a few before deciding on the ones you see here. I chose a soft pink shade of cardstock to match the pink in the picture, and to coordinate with the aqua cardstock. I also wanted some texture, so I embossed the mat with an embossing folder. To use this card for the Border Punch assignment I added one of my favorite border punches to the edge. Some added pearls to help with the retro feel and I was pleased with the result of this card. Here's the recipe:  A2 card base Cardstock-Very Vanilla, Pool Party-SU, pink scraps-I believe it's Bazzil Pearls-Martha Stewart Border Punch-Scallop Trim-Stampin Up Ink for Distressing-Soft Suede-Stampin Up Cuttle Embossing Folder-Forest Branches Cricut Cartridge-Elegant Edges (Floursh2)-4.5"; Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art (OvlFlr-s) 3.25"  Make A2 card (Very Vanilla). Cut 5.25 X 3.75 inch mat (Pool Party). Distress with ink and emboss with Forest Branches folder. Cut both Cricut shapes from pink cardstock. Adhere bird embellie to OvlFlr shape. Adhere Floursh2 and OvlFlr-s shapes to card mat. Punch border from pink cardstock and adhere to underside of card mat. Adhere completed card mat to base. Add pearls.   Thanks for looking, Carole

We had professional pictures taken recently of my hubby and I. I used one of the solo pics of him on this layout to show that he makes me happy!! I love being able to scrapbook pictures that mean a lot to me.

This was something I thought would be fun to make. It is a jewelry hanger. I used the Bind-It-All to make the hooks along the bottom.

This is a piece of chipboard covered with paper.

I can't wait to hang this in my bedroom and put some pretty necklaces on it.

For me happiness is pure and utter joy. This picture of my children bring me pure happiness. We had a great day when this picture was taken. We went to Burgess Falls and walked the path and saw a few beautiful falls.

The Letter “B” = Buttons, Brads, Butterfly & a Bow on a Box By Tracy Henson

I love to participate in swaps.  I love creating for others and seeing the things they create.  It is very inspiring and a great way to see new materials & techniques being used in the scrapping community. So when I was told that one of the DT projects for the Chicas Getting’ Crafty blog this month was to use 3 embellishments starting with the letter B, I thought it would translate nicely into a Halloween/Thanksgiving swap I am participating in.  Since my partner requested an Autumn themed box, I went with oranges and browns.  I think the paper from the “Bella Bohemia” stack by The Paper Studio was fantastic in that it captured the feel of the season without screaming it.  Hopefully she will love it as much as I loved making it for her!

Materials Used

Box – purchased from WM in the office supply area

Paper – Print Paper is from “Bella Bohemia “by The Paper Studio.

Solid cardstock is Pumpkin Pie from Stampin’ Up.

Lace – Brown Decorative Trim from Hobby Lobby

Leaves are from Wal Mart in the hobby area.

Blossoms, Button, Brad, and a Banner

It is always a great day in the neighborhood when I get to use all the pics I have laying around on a layout. These photos were super for this layout. Old pictures, but nonetheless on the page and soon to go in the scrapbook. I was very excited to receive recently this collection of Echo Park's paper "A Walk in the Park." What Makes Me Happy

This month our challenge is about happiness. I thought it would be fun to decorate one of the 7 Gypsies ATC Holders with all kinds of things that make me happy. My life lately hasn't shown me a lot of happiness. It was very good for me to think about all the things that make me happy. There are lots of things that make me smile and bring me happiness. My children are the main things in my life that make me smile, but this was an exercise in finding other things besides them. Each little rectangle is packed with all those things. It is packed with pink. Pink is my favorite color, so I had to include plenty of pink.  To find other things that make me happy, I sat down in my craft room and started searching.

These are the things I found: Mice, Graphic 45 vintage images, hummingbirds, K&Co butterflies, owls, gnomes, Recollections 3-D roses, Tim Holtz Live/Dream/Hope tickets, Glitz and bling, dogs, buttons, crossword puzzles, tea, fairies, bows, ribbon, inspirational sayings and words and anything glittery

Most of these little items were things I found in my stash that made me smile as I looked through all the goodies in my room.

I hope this inspires each of you to think about all the things in your life that make you smile.  Make sure you join our monthly challenge and share those things that make you smile with us!  SMILE~~ Daphne~~

Happy day in November!  I hope that everyone is doing well. Today I would like to share with you my creation inspired by the letter "B" for buttons.  I used some Buttons, Brads, & riBBon (well, actually twine).

But here it is:

This picture is of my kiddos & my cousins kiddos.  They are all very close so when my cousin called to invite us over for a pizza & movie night, we jumped at it.  Then she said to bring our pjs & sleeping bags.  What fun!!  So, we went over, had pizza, after dinner they all changed into their jammies, & curled up together & watched a movie. Border Punch Candy Jar

I love the Fall!  All kinds of good things happen in the Fall;  we get to wear sweaters, the leaves start to change colors, & candy corn makes its annual come back!  Yep, I will admit it!   I love candy corn!  No one else in my house will eat it & then they tease me about when I do.   Am I alone here?  Does no one else like this wonderful sweet treat?  Oh well, all the more for me! LOL! Anyway. . . So for the Border Punch assignment I thought a candy jar for my special treats was in order.  I used an old mason jar I already had & just jazzed it up to fit the season.

I hope you are having a cozy November day. For the November Happiness challenge I decided to incorporate my need for an Autumn Wreath and my love of Fall colors for my project. There are many things that make me happy about this project. I love Autumn colors, I love wreaths, I love having everything I need on hand to make the project, and lastly, I love projects that I'm happy with that do not take me a long time to create!

To create this wreath I recycled a grapevine wreath I had hanging on my front door that I'd created with a patriotic motif this summer. I found a garland of fall leaves and some mini pumpkin and gourd decorations that I had purchased in years past, but never used. (Hooray!I consider these freebies!) In a flash I removed the old paper decorations from my wreath, I wrapped the garland around the grapevine and hot glued in a few spots to secure it. Next, I hot glued the gourds and mini pumpkins around the wreath, leaving a spot open on the bottom for a word plaque. I chose a label from the Lacy Labels Cricut cartridge and cut it and a shadow using the DCWV Harvest Gathering mat stack and a piece of scrap cardstock (for the shadow)

I did not save the cut on my Gypsy so I'm not sure of the exact sizing, but the finished label is about 3 X 5. To this label I added an "Autumn" rhinestone sentiment purchased from the Michael's $1 bin (this is the only new purchase I made for this project) and some brown and amber rhinestones (previously purchased from the Michael's $1 bin). I immediately hung the wreath on my front door and it makes me happy every time I look at it! This is a quick project anyone can do. It does not have to be a Fall wreath, it can be made of anything that you love.

Supplies:

Grapevine wreath Silk leaves (I used a garland)

Fall embellishments (floral picks, resin or paper mache seasonal shapes)

Hot glue

Cardstock of your choice

Sentiment of your choice

Do something to make yourself happy today...you deserve it!

Hello!

I just wanted to tell you how much I loved this assignment of using Border Punches. However I only own one to my name but I just Love it. When I chose my picture for this project of my children I knew that using Echo Park's Playground Line would go perfect. I noticed that it even had a border sticker that mimicked my border punch.

I know that there are a million reasons for me to be happy, but I often don’t think about them and instead focus on what I think will make me happy.  Gretchen’s blog really inspired me; I totally dig taking responsibility for your own happiness.  So for the Chica’s Gettin’ Crafty challenge this month, I decided I wanted to focus on those things in my life that do make me happy.  I altered a cover for a mini blank album that I plan on using to record the things in my life that bring me simple joy.

FALL WALL DECOR

Hello, my lovelies!

I hope you are doing well this fine November day. For my B assignment, I chose to create a Fall wall hanging. I love Fall colors and would leave these decorations up year round given the choice. I love this letter B challenge because I love buttons, and enjoy any opportunity to use them in a crafty project. Amongst my crafty friends I'm known as the "button lady" as I'm the one who brings a large jar of buttons to every crop, in case someone needs a little something to embellish a project with.

Now on to the "how-to":  I purchased this wood paddle for $1 at a garage sale held at a craft store. I couldn't pass that up! I painted it brown (a "B" color). Then I added the orange "Bow", which was a couple pieces of ribbon I saved from a gift I received. The leaves were purchased from JoAnn's (I have tons left). They were adhered with hot glue. Next I chose Autumn colored "Buttons" from my button jar and adhered them to the bottom of the paddle. With one more B to go (Daphne was not too keen on letting me use brown paint as a "B" embellishment) I decided to add "Bling". I used my newly purchased Bazzill Bling templates to affix Michael's $1 bin bling to my project. I have to say, I really love this wall decor item and hung it on my wall by my front door immediately after I completed it.

Hello everyone, so glad you stopped by to see what Teresa has to share with you today!

I am constantly giving out birthday cards. So when this assignment was given I knew just what I should do, make a birthday card of course. I have been in a whole lot of swaps in the past, so I found a image I wanted to use to go with this paper collection and grabbed a couple of border punches and went to town! I really like how the card came out except in one place. The stamp pad I used was not really juicy enough to make a good clean image of the sentiment. So make sure your stamp pads are juicy!!

Today is our first product focus!! I am so glad you came by to check out what we have in store for you today.

Our first product is STICKLES. Stickles are produced by Ranger, Inc. Stickles is a type of glitter glue. You can use Stickles in so many fun ways.

Here are some of the samples we have to share with you.

CARD-

Beth used the Stickles as an accent on the edge of the cupcake and the stripe. She also made some cute sprinkles out of the Stickles.

MASKS:

These masks were made by Beth. These are paper mache' masks. They are painted and then she added the Stickles to make some beautiful designs.

Glad you decided to join us today!

It is November and with November it makes us think of what we are Thankful for.  I am very blessed in my life, so I am thankful for a lot!  One of the things that I am most thankful for is my family.  Friends, they come & go, but family, they are a consistant in your life always.  Life happens & you drift apart, but they are always there for you no matter what.

This is a picture of my sister and I at Emma's b-day party.  I am so very thankful to have her in my life.  We can go a few weeks with out talking. We may be completely different in what we like and don't like.  Our tastes in music and clothes and other things are total opposties. But I know that she is there for me no matter what. Hello All You Crafty Chicas Out There:

As of October 31st, Laura, Mama Lu, has decided to leave the Crafty Chicas. She has left the blog to me.

We are all sad to see her leave us, but she has some personal things she needs to deal with. I am sure you will all keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

This month things will start to look a little different.

First, as you might have noticed the blog is now called Crafty Chicas. This great Design Team I have is really a talented bunch of Crafty Chicas!!!

Secondly, the girls will be sharing their thoughts, in their own words, with you each day along with their projects.

Thirdly, weekends are going to be a little different from now on.

This month's weekday projects will include:

#1- What makes you happy?

#2- Share with us how you like to use your border punches

#3- This month is brought to you by the letter B. Each girl has used 3 embellishments that begin with the letter B

The weekends will bring some new fun.

Saturdays we will be featuring a product. You will get some great inspiration about how to use the featured product. Each Saturday there will be a giveaway to one lucky winner. The prize will be whatever the featured product is for that day!
