J.Cole just let go of a tagless unfinished record that has been floating around the net for a little bit titled “Problems,” produced by Jim Jonsin. J.Cole describes it below. So I been sitting on this J. Cole track for over a month and in doing so I’ve manage to have a hand/say in what the final product of this may be. There’s going to be a singer featured on the hook, not sure exactly who or more so that I can’t say at this time but you’ll be surprised if it’s who I want it to be. In any case, “other” guys are calling the song “Problems” but the fact is, there isn’t a name for it but here’s a tagless version of this unfinished track.

Artist & filmmaker Marco Brambilla was brought in by Kanye West to direct the video for Kanye’s new single “Power.” The video director spoke with the New York Times about the symbolism in the video, presumably in an attempt to dead all the Illuminati talk that will certainly be found in the comments section of this here website once it premieres.

The New York Times describes the video, which is set to premiere on Kanye’s website next week, as follows:

Mr. West is seen standing imposingly with a heavy chain around his neck. As Mr. West raps the camera slowly zooms out in one continuous, unedited take to reveal him in a classical structure, surrounded by female attendants who are partly or entirely nude; some kneel before him on all fours, others wear devil horns and still others are suspended upside down from the ceiling. The Sword of Damocles hangs precariously over Mr. West’s head, and behind him an unseen executioner is preparing to strike him with a blade.

Damocles was a figure in Greek legend that was more or less a member of Dionysus II of Syracuse’s entourage. Damocles remarked to Dionysus, a fourth century BC tyrant, how fortunate he was to have so much power and fortune.  Dionysus then offered to switch places with Damocles for a day so that he could experience the life for himself.  That evening, a banquet was held and Damocles was treated like royalty.  However, at the end of the meal, Damocles noticed a sword hanging over his head by a single strand of horse hair.  Damocles immediately lost all interest in the life that he had experienced that day – the food, the beautiful women.  Dionysus had successfully allowed Damocles to experience the constant danger that comes with the power and fortune he has.

A 19th century painting by Richard Westall depicts Damocles noticing the sword over his head, and was posted by Kanye on his Twitter account yesterday:

All of this begs one to take another look at the single artwork for “Power” which is a painting of a beheaded Kanye West, wearing a crown, with a sword in the side of his head.

Makes way more sense now, doesn’t it?

Wiz Khalifa’s already-good week just got a lot better.

The Pittsburgh rapper bested his fellow upstart MCs to earn MTV News’ “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010″ nod during the “Sucker Free Summit” on Sunday, and now the Taylor Gang leader will be the next guest on “RapFix Live” this Friday at 1 p.m. ET.

“RapFix Live” is MTV News’ new livestream show, where artists are interviewed live by Sway in the newsroom and viewers are able to ask questions via Twitter and uploaded videos. Fans can tweet @MTVNews with the hashtag #rapfixlive and Sway will dig through questions live during the chat; viewers can also upload their questions to Your.MTV.com.

The questions can range from the absurd to the serious.

Last week, Rick Ross was the premiere guest and the Miami rapper was gracious, humorous, and witty as he answered questions about surfing, among other things.

Ross also revealed during “RapFix Live” that he wants to work with Dr. Dre and Frankie Beverly on his next album and he described what it was like to work with Kanye West in Hawaii, where the two collaborated on his “Live Fast, Die Young.”

“Make sure y’all turn in to ‘RapFix Live,’ I’mma be answering all your tweets live,” Wiz said to MTV News over the weekend, relaying the message to his fans. “So slide through and keep it Taylor!”
