Service: Again, what EXACTLY are you going to offer the world? Use this time tested method of getting to the core: if you can’t explain it to something that knows nothing about your services in like 3 sentences and have them completely understand, you’re not being specific enough.
USP: That leads to your Unique Selling Proposition that will define you. “Hi, my name’s Betty and I use my writing ability to make your business more successful.” Whatever, you get the point.

Step #3: Begin Shopping for Professionals

You’re going to need a web designer. You’re going to need a professional photographer. Maybe Betty can get away without a copywriter, but you’ll probably need one. You’re going to need a branding consultant for an hour or two. You’re going to possibly need a project manager to make sure the team is on-task and there’s deadlines. The point is, get the small team together you need to make your brand a reality. Today most folks use sites like oDesk or Elance.

Step #4: Add Substance to Your Vision

To many people Christmas is just another and simple day. Neither they feel any excitement nor they want to celebrate the joys and blessings. What would be the reason behind that? Unaffordable things? Or least interest in these kind of celebrations?

Might be one of the above mentioned reasons are the main cause for not celebrating the event but, what if they enjoy the real charm without experiencing any budget stress? Surely they can enjoy the real contentment of the event.

I was planning to throw a budget friendly Christmas dinner for friends. So I planned to make a proper list in which I mentioned the healthy eatables and all expenses.

Hiring Place:
First of all the problem was the arrangement of venue and its charges. I was not able to pay high charges, because you don’t only have to pay a rent but you also have to fulfill the demands of catering services. So I decided to arrange the party celebrations in my private setting.

Budget Friendly Food Items:
I was the main in charge of the entire event. So I thought to cook multiple items in which oven roasted brine soaked, fruit cake, Barbie cue arrangement, holiday desserts, and rolled sugar cookies were the main items to present.

Then I thought another idea to save some money that I should ask my one or two close guests to bring some soft drinks and alcoholic drinks with them. So that we can enjoy the real pleasure in quite friendly and fruitful environment.

Party Decorations:
A big problem was the arrangement of party decorations within a set budget. I asked many friends to give some suggestions which are affordable regarding interior decoration. Some told me to use simple sparkly papers, some told me to use colorful ribbons to design the doors and walls. But one of a close friend proposed a brilliant idea which I liked the most. The idea was to find out the family album of last year Christmas party and order the services of spectacular photo printing on canvas with some artistic variations of acrylic and metal. I really appreciated that unique idea. Moreover I decided to put cinnamon scented candles in the lounge that remind the people it’s a Christmas party.

Decoration of Kitchen items:
Then I shifted my attention towards the decoration of kitchen items. Because kitchen could be the central attention for your guests, especially for ladies. So I thought to use the latest & budget friendly idea and ordered to make Santa clause pictures on crockery and marvelous cake items on canvas prints so that the guests can further enjoy the charm and glory of Christmas dinner.

Party Activities:
Christmas celebration without singing, gaming and dance parties are totally meaningless and boring. So I brainstorm the ideas and finally I thought to use my own and personal laptop, and connected big speakers with it. Now everyone was able to enjoy their favorite music.

Some patients go for oral medication when they are not the safest. Even though side effects are not too common with these drugs, there's no need to take risks when there are proven natural remedies that can treat the condition.

While you treat this nail fungal infection, ensure that you keep your toenails dry at all times. Wearing open shoes is most welcomed due to ventilation purposes. Keep your fit as clean as possible, and remember that moisture is your worst enemy.

If you calculate your existing debts and other problems too, then you will be able to pin point how many sales you’d need to make in order to break even and start turning profit overall. There are many accounting solutions that will help you with this process.

Picking the Price Tag

So now you know how much you need to get for your items, but remember that this isn’t the price your customers are going to be paying. This will be the ‘wholesale’ price, which is the amount you are going to charge the resellers. Of course they still need to make a profit though, and if you follow the ‘keystoning’ standard of pricing, then they will want to charge roughly twice the amount they pay for the item. And according to the 1-5 rule, that eventual cost should be five times the amount of your per unit cost.

Of course if it’s a service you’re providing then there will be no resellers to consider, meaning you get to keep a lot more of the product. Either way, if you can work your numbers so that this all works out, then you should find that your items sell like hot candy and that everyone involved gets to take home a good cut of the pie at the end of the day.

While you do hear bad stories of some nursing homes, the majority are well staffed, well maintained, and treat their residents with care and dignity. However, a nursing home should still be a last resort when other options like in home care have been exhausted. Here is why:

Expense

While care in a nursing home is in many cases necessary towards the end of a person's life, the expense can be a lot, and can mean that the person has to sell their home or give up other things they may have intended to leave to their families. If they don't have these kinds of assets, it can be a financial burden on the rest of the family.

As a result of this, the later you make the move, the less the financial implication will be. Of course, you're never going to put money before your family's wellbeing, but if there are options that keep your relative in their own home while still granting them the care they need, or if you can look after them adequately in your home for the time being, then this is going to be better.

Preference

The best games for a romantic evening in are collaborative games. Games that will spark conversation and that allow you to solve problems together. Portal 2’s co-op mode is the perfect example of this. For those who don’t know, Portal is a puzzle game where you are equipped with a gun that shoots wormholes.

Using this gun you navigate complex obstacle courses, and as time goes on you find some sophisticated uses for the gun, such as using it to help you traverse a long gap by falling quickly through one mouth of the wormhole and shooting out the other end at high speed. While the puzzles range from the tricky to the mind bending, you can have great fun figuring them out together.

Minecraft
Oh what is there to say about Minecraft? Minecraft will ruin your life. It’s a building game that starts out like you’ve been given the greatest Lego set in the world, until you realise you can break the wooden blocks down into sticks, and use the sticks to make tools, and use the tools to mine coal and stones, and use those to make a furnace, and suddenly you’re building a working 16 bit computer, or a scale model of Middle Earth.

What’s more, you’ve got a procedurally generated play area that is literally bigger than the planet Earth. So you can build gigantic palaces made of glass, or simply go exploring together. Just remember to build yourself somewhere safe to stay during the night to avoid being eaten by zombies, skeletons, giant spiders and the dreaded creepers...

LA Noire
LA Noire is a game that doesn’t actually have a multiplayer function. What it does have is a richly detailed period environment, a complex plot and pretty much the entire cast of Mad Men. You can have fun taking it in turns to do the driving sequences, but the real fun to be had here is in the interrogation scenes, when you can get into some quite impassioned arguments over whether the suspect is telling the truth or has something to hide. Maybe skip the flame thrower-in-the-sewers finale though.

Left 4 Dead is a collaborative game based around the universally beloved theme of killing hordes upon hordes of the undead. It’s great fun, but it’s probably not the best game for date night, for the following reason: It brings out your absolute basest survival instincts, and unless you’ve got a really solid relationship, you don’t want your partner to see those unless absolutely necessary.

Do you really want your love to see how you refuse to heal them as they’re limping along, because you “might need the first aid kit later”? Do you really want them to see just how quickly you are willing to run to the escape boat and leave you to die?

When you think about the dangers that may face you in a lightning storm, you usually think about what might happen if you are outside.

Most people know to avoid wide open spaces, to stay away from high points, and not to seek shelter under a tall tree, but what a lot of people don't realize is that lightning can actually hit you when you are inside your home (or any other building) as well.

This isn't a common occurrence, but it is possible, so it is best to know and understand how lightning can 'jump' and know the things not to do when you are indoors during a lightning storm.

How Does Lightning Get Into A House?

Lightning, as you are probably aware, is raw electricity, and electricity behaves in certain known ways. It tries to get to ground using the most conductive thing it can find. It can also jump across spaces from one conductive material to another.

If your house is hit by lightning, the route it may take may lead it to your own electrical lines or to water in your home, and from there it can jump to you. This is how you can actually be hit by lightning even when you feel safe, warm and dry inside your house, particularly if you touch things or are close to things that can conduct it.

So What Are The Safe Things To Do?

If you are experiencing a lightning storm, and the lightning is close by, turn off all of your electrical appliances, including things you may usually leave on all the time like your land line phone, your cable box, and your computer.

Only ever use cordless phones or cellphones during a storm if you need to call for help or to call to see if someone you know is OK, as lightning can travel down a phone wire quite easily. Find a place to sit and wait for the storm to end that is away from metal things like door or window frames, and away from electrical sockets.

It may sound paranoid to spend the whole duration of the storm sitting in the center of your front room, but this is actually the safest thing to do. You don't really have to go that far though, your couch or your bed, as long as they are away from sockets, can be good options!

As well as this, you need to avoid water while the storm is in progress. Everyone knows the saying that 'water and electricity don't mix', so it is clear that the last thing you want to be doing if there is a risk of lightning striking your home is lathering up in the shower or doing the washing up!

In most cases, when lightning strikes a home it actually only damages wiring or appliances, so usually the worst you have to worry about is some storm damage, but it is best to take precautions that will ensure you are safe. Once the storm is over, test your appliances carefully and check your phone line is operational.

Launching into a new relationship can be exciting and scary in equal measure. Learning to trust a new person with our heart takes a great leap of faith and is not something to do without careful thought and consideration. That said, careful thought and consideration are not often present at the beginning of a new relationship – when analytical discussion is usually discarded in favour of passion!

I am not going to sugar coat it. Starting a new relationship is not easy. There will be times when you wonder why you bothered. But there will also be times when you are so pleased you did. Love makes the world go round, and everybody deserves a bit of it in their lives.

So, let's get started.

Love yourself

First of all it is important to feel as good about yourself as possible. If you have come out of a relationship feeling hurt and bruised, you may have some confidence issues. Ask yourself if you are really ready to throw yourself in at the deep end again.

If the answer is yes, why not treat yourself to a pampering session for some rejuvenating therapies? Feel good anti-ageing treatments and a glamorous new hairstyle will make you feel a million dollars and give you that extra edge you need to cut it in the world of dating. But remember, you are prettifying yourself for your own pleasure, nobody else.

What sort of a relationship do you want?

No doubt this will be influenced by past experience. If your last relationship was stormy and claustrophobic, recognise it for what it was. Be wary of repeating past behaviours. It sounds nuts, but it is often true that we fall into patterns with our relationships. Being self aware is very important.

Be honest about what you do and don't want out of a relationship and then be very strict with yourself about not accepting anything less. Perhaps you want something a lot more relaxed and free? Remember, you are the author of your own story and only you can decide how it turns out.

It's complicated

If there are children in the picture, things can get a little complicated. The dynamic gets a whole lot more complex and you have to manage the sensitive feelings and expectations of a host of people. Take things very slowly. Follow your gut instinct and be kind to yourself as well. Sometimes we just have to take a chance, but the risks should always be calculated.

Look in the right places

Finding a new partner requires tenacity, good luck and a bit of ingenuity. Yes, it is entirely possible to source a new partner on the internet these days, and many do. There are hundreds of internet dating websites catering to a wide variety of niche markets. Alternatively, seek out areas where single people might congregate such as dance classes, church, activities clubs etc.

Singles evenings at nightclubs and pubs can be worth a try as well as singles holidays and supper clubs. A shared interest is a great base on which to start building a new relationship, so why not make things easier for yourself?

Love in slow motion

Once you have found somebody you think may be 'a keeper', take things slowly. Introduce them to your family and friends and see how they get on. Do they cope well with being interrogated by your best friend, for example? How are they with the kids? Are they polite to your Mum? What are their friends like? What about their family? Are you comfortable with them? Keep your eyes open and remain alert.

Avoid having s*x with each other for as long as possible, get to know one another well before making that step. Research states that around 85 per cent of couples wait at least thirty days before getting it on between the sheets. Once s*x is involved the whole picture can begin to get even more complicated and difficult to fathom, so just beware.

Being in a happy, loving relationship is something everybody deserves. However, once you've been hurt or have lost a loved one, stepping back onto the dating merry go round can be really daunting. For your best chances of success, take things slowly, accept the support of your friends and family and be honest about what you want. Happy hunting!

Vandals are a major problem in a lot of areas, and building sites can be a popular target. Whether it is graffiti or breakages, new structures seem to hold a lot of appeal for people who engage in antisocial behavior, and this can cause serious problems.

Not only can cleaning up or rebuilding things on your new build that are damaged take time and expense away from the project in hand, but also, the vandals can attack equipment that you are using and this can be an even bigger problem if it is machinery or vehicles you have hired.

Another issue a lot of people don't even consider is that in many cases, if a vandal or any other trespasser gets hurt on your site, because building sites can be dangerous places, you may be liable to compensate them!

As you can see, vandals can be a real bugbear when it comes to managing a work site, so you should take what steps you can to prevent them gaining access and to disguise any expensive equipment that might catch their eye.

Storing or Covering Machinery

Covering up or hiding away machines and vehicles you have on site will make the site look less interesting to vandals from the outside. You can do this in a number of ways, for example driving vehicles into garages or covered areas at the end of the working day, or using a building tent.

While a tent may not seem like it will offer much protection, it will hide things over night and will also give you the additional benefit of helping you keep your equipment clean and undamaged by more natural forces!

On Site Security

You should have at least some form of security on site for any project, even minor ones. While you may not have the budget for a proper security guard or a CCTV system, things like good fencing and security lights can be an affordable way to have your site look like it is defended. You can also use signs that imply there are security measures in place such as dogs, CCTV or guards, displayed prominently on your fences.

Of course, for a major project it is best to actually have these things rather than just to say they are there, but you need to assess the risk in the area where you are building and manage it in a way that suits the scale of the job and budget.

Protecting and securing your site and associated machinery rigging need not be difficult if you plan it as part of your project, rather than leaving site security as an afterthought. You can manage the security of the project and add to it as time goes on if you feel the threat of vandalism, theft or other trespass is greater than you initially anticipated, but you should do some research into the prevalence of this sort of crime where you are working ahead of time and take appropriate initial action. This can save a lot of money and stress in the long run.

These days, unless you are a real fan of old cameras, chances are most of your vacation pictures, family photos and other general images were taken on a digital camera, meaning that even if you print them out you have copies somewhere on your computer, phone or on your Facebook or Instagram account which you can go back to if the hard copies ever get destroyed.

Of course, while we are all very used to digital cameras now, they haven't really been commonplace for all that long in the grand scheme of things, so if you were around pre 21st century it is likely that you have photo albums or boxes of old pictures that you took in the past.

How Would Losing Your Photos Make You Feel?

Photo albums are one of those strange things that while we may not even take them out and look at them that often, we feel a strong bond to them and are very upset if they are lost.

Many people who have had household disasters like floods and fires say afterward that it is the loss of things like these that cannot be replaced that is the worst thing, rather than losing expensive things they can buy new again when their insurance pays out! Photos, especially kids photo albums of children who have since grown up, or albums showing happy occasions you want to remember from the past like your first vacation with your husband or your first Christmas with your child, can be some of the most sentimentally important things in a home, yet many people have not taken any steps to safeguard them.

Scan, Organize and File

Taking digital scans of your old photos is easy, and can be done with an ordinary scanner/copier type device. If you don't have one of these, you most likely will know someone who does, so ask to borrow it, or, if you want a more basic way to get some form of copy of your old pictures you can even photograph them with your digital camera or phone.

The important thing is to replicate the image in a digital file. When you have got all of your pictures (or you can do this as you go along), create a library that is either on a cloud service like Dropbox, or on a site like Instagram or Facebook where the pictures will be held online rather than on your computer, so if your computer breaks down you don't lose all of these files.

If you don't want other people to see the photos online, you can create private libraries on most photo websites, so you don't actually need to share your pictures to use them.

Having copies of your pictures that are held safely on the web means that you can look at them, or print new copies, whenever you want to. While this may not be as good as having the originals back after an emergency, at least you will still have the images from all of those great memories to look at!

Back in the day, offices were very much a set of closed off rooms in which small teams and even individuals operated on their own, closed off from the rest of the workforce.

A manager might have his own office, and next door, his secretary might have their own office too.

The team who dealt with one area of the business would all be in a room together, and if you wanted to talk to people from other departments and teams you'd have to go and find them.

In the nineties, however, this all seemed to change almost overnight, and in just about every office and industry in the world – especially more forward facing ones like IT. Now, open plan offices with a few conference rooms and perhaps a corner office or two for the very top people are the default, and it is very unusual to take up a new job in a middle management position and be shown to a nice little room of your own with your name on the door.

These days, things in companies tend to be a lot more interdepartmental, and so you need to know people outside your own field. You may work in accounts, but you probably need to talk to someone from the software department about coordinating a new upgrade to your systems, or someone in logistics about getting to a meeting at a client's location to finalize a payment.

In a less technologically advanced age, things like this didn't matter so much, you knew the people you needed to know and everything else the business did wasn't important in your work, but now everything is connected, being able to see the people you need to work with and simply stroll over to them makes a big difference in terms of teamwork.

Open Plan Is More Flexible and Conserves Space

Another reason why the modern office tends to be open plan is that companies tend to scale up and down very quickly, perhaps bringing on board a team of consultants for a month for a special project or quickly expanding a department.

Open plan offices are much easier to cram extra people into, and also to reshuffle people when you want to reorganize the seating arrangements to make up new temporary teams. Open plan offices also make 'hot desk' arrangements, where people simply sit at whatever desk they want to when they come in each day rather than having their own desk, meaning part time employees or those who sometimes work from home don't take up a desk at all times, possible.

Like it or hate it, the busy, sometimes noisy, open plan office is here to stay, and it is easy to see why from a budgetary and practical point of view, companies love it. However, it is likely there are still plenty of bosses who yearn for the days they could get some peace in a room of their own!

Have You Ever Wondered How Carpet Is Made?

The vast majority of carpets found in the marketplace today are typically made from synthetic polymers.

It is estimated that over 50% of carpets produced today consist of nylon, which if you weren’t aware is made from plastic - a lot of plastics, including bottles which contain soft drinks, end up being recycled and eventually become carpet.

However, you may be surprised to hear that a tiny percentage of carpets are made from woven wool nowadays, even though they are known to be easier to clean and age very well. The main reason synthetics have become so popular is because they handle heavy traffic and moisture far better than woven wools.

How is Carpet Made?

Firstly, the materials used are made into yarns before the yarns are tufted. A machine is used to complete the process of tufting and this machine typically has 12-foot rollers and in excess of 12,000 needles working away, in much the same way as a sewing machine works.

Hooks are then used to pull the yarn in order to make a loop of a specific size, which is completed in conjunction with producing pile of a specific height. The size of the piles very much depends on how shaggy the carpet should be. For example, a few decades back shag pile carpets were all the rage, although carpets nowadays are typically produced with far lower piles.

This is because we have learnt over time the lower the pile, the better a carpet stands up to traffic and the easier it is to clean.

Dyeing the Carpet

The yarn will then need to be dyed, although this can be completed before or after tufting, although if it is completed afterwards you will have far greater control and many more options.

The process of dyeing will involve initially boiling the tufted carpet in a container with water before certain chemicals and dye are added. The carpet and the solution will then boil for the next four hours. In order to add designs or patterns to the carpet it will need to go through the process of silk-screening, which is very similar to way in which t-shirts are produced.

However, there is an alternative method for adding designs, which will see the carpet rolled between embossed rollers.

The Finished Article

Once the tufting and dyeing procedures are completed the carpet will need to be bonded onto a backing material.

The carpet ends are then sewn together to produce a roll-type shape, which is probably how you are used to seeing them in carpet stores. The underside of the carpet will then need to be coated with another backing material, typically latex adhesive. This will then be loaded into another machine which will help to permanently bond the backing materials to the carpet.

The carpet will then be heated in an oven, which once again ensures that the bond becomes a permanent fixture.

Even before you see the finished article the carpet will need to be steamed, before being brushed and vacuumed, and there is even a machine that will remove any uneven tufts sticking out from the carpet – and only then is it finally ready to be shipped to warehouses and stores.
