Don’t worry, what the hell is an MBA anymore anyway? How about this, let’s show you in one kick ass article how to build your personal brand like a new millennial tech-superstar. No? How about a serious modern virtual professional and entrepreneur in 6 steps? Yeah, it’ll be fun and enlightening. Let’s roll.

Step #1: Begin Putting Together Some Scratch

You need to start building a personal platform enhancement fund. To be safe, yep, you need to shoot for at least $2500. Whatever it takes. Maybe it used to be mega-cheap back in the day, but now in order to build the foundation for a serious personal brand it’s going to take a little production value! How fast can you get together $2500? In the meantime…

Step #2: Start Crystallizing Your Brand

Who are you, what’s your (relevant) personal brand story and why in the name of all that is Holy do you matter? What’s so special about you? Honestly! Get right to the absolute core value that you want to offer to the world. It doesn’t matter if other people are doing it, or you’ve got a highly competitive industry. There’s only one you.
Here’s some stuff to start really focusing your mental energy on until you get to the heart of the matter.

Website: Don’t just walk up to a designer and be like, “yo, I need a really neato website for my personal brand.” Sigh…Begin seeking out personally branded websites that strike a chord with you. How many pages will your website have? Is there going to be a blog and social media pages? How will it interact with people? How will it project your brand? Start getting specific because you can’t dump this on anyone else and expect good results. This is your brand. You must define it.

Voice: What’s the voice of your personal brand? Duh…it’s yours! Don’t try to be or sound like anything or anyone that you are not. Be genuine! Be sincere! Keep it real.

Imagery: You need some high quality high resolution model-worthy (not that you need to be mega hot stuff, just high production value photography) images to go with your brand. Start thinking of what kinds of pictures will do you justice and not come across as generic.

Service: Again, what EXACTLY are you going to offer the world? Use this time tested method of getting to the core: if you can’t explain it to something that knows nothing about your services in like 3 sentences and have them completely understand, you’re not being specific enough.

USP: That leads to your Unique Selling Proposition that will define you. “Hi, my name’s Betty and I use my writing ability to make your business more successful.” Whatever, you get the point.

Step #3: Begin Shopping for Professionals

You’re going to need a web designer. You’re going to need a professional photographer. Maybe Betty can get away without a copywriter, but you’ll probably need one. You’re going to need a branding consultant for an hour or two. You’re going to possibly need a project manager to make sure the team is on-task and there’s deadlines. The point is, get the small team together you need to make your brand a reality. Today most folks use sites like oDesk or Elance.

Step #4: Add Substance to Your Vision

With these folks you can add much more depth to your ideas and vision. They can outline the costs but plan on this as a bare minimum at the $2500.

$1500 website

$500 photography

$500 copywriting for the website.

After the website’s done and perfect, your journey really begins. Don’t forget that.

Step #5: Bring the Team Together with Money on the Table

Pay the people. Make sure you’re happy with your imagery, website and the writing used to convey your brand as an MBA. These folks will be able to fill you in on social media marketing, internet marketing, and all that stuff. But that’s another blog post. You’ve got the basic run down, now go make it happen.

Are you moving into a new home? Or maybe you’re starting from scratch yet again and moving into a new abode. Regardless of what phase you are in your life, decorating your house is, both, a physically and emotionally taxing task. Even interior decorators suffer from the inability to summon their creative side, how much more ordinary homeowners trying to personalize their space. While decorating your home the right way depends, ultimately, on your personal preference, there are also definite ways that you can decorate your home the wrong way. Break from away from these cringe-worthy decorating faux pas.

1. Failing to decorate the foyer.

When you enter a home, you will first be ushered into the foyer. Just like with meeting someone new, you need to be impressed right from that first moment of introduction. Being met by a very unforgettable and bare foyer completely deviates from that welcoming concept. Your hall must be eager to greet guests instead of just turning a cold shoulder.
Quick tip: If you have an attached garage, you would be tempted to use this instead of your foyer making you likely to neglect your foyer. Try using your foyer for a change. To force yourself to use the foyer, make it serve a purpose such as a mess hall where your kids can remove their shoes or drop off their bags. A bench with partitions that serve storage purposes would be an excellent addition in this example.

2. Not using appropriate lighting.

Just like with everything else, having a room that is too bright is just as annoying as having a room that is far too dark. Choosing appropriate lighting can transform a room almost instantaneously.
Quick tip: Give yourself options. The intensity and presence of natural lighting varies within the day. To counter the change in the natural light coming in, you also need to install different types of light fixtures that have varying levels. Dimmers are always great additions to any room and will allow you adjust the intensity of your light depending on your preference.

3. Having all woodwork painted white.

When it comes to woodwork, it seems that the only options available are the standard varnish and the clinical color white. However, this completely defeats the purpose of having room furnishings that contribute to the overall look of the room.
Quick tip: A pop of color would not hurt. Especially when you have white walls, try to change things up by having woodwork painting in a different color, such as coral for that summer vibe.

4. Stuffing your home with trinkets.

If you are like most people, you may have hoarded hundreds of little pieces of memorabilia throughout the years. While we’re all for preserving memories, some memories are best remembered instead of being collected.
Quick tip: Have a place in your house where you can show off your beloved collection like those perfect pieces featured in Nick Scali (NCK). However, when you’ve filled up your allotted space, use this as a signal to stop collecting more of your trinkets. Or at least give one item away if you wish to keep a new item.
When searching for audio typing services online, you will find many companies that offer typing services that choosing one becomes a daunting task. To add onto the confusion, all of the companies claim to be the very best in the transcription industry and promise to deliver unmatched results.

It is true that these companies could be offering high quality services because any serious and professional transcription agency that is vying for your business will obviously do their very best to ensure your satisfaction. However, the best bet of finding a good audio typing service provider that suits your needs is to take a step back and do proper evaluation. The following are things you should consider.

Experience
The first and most important quality to look for in a transcription firm is experience. When it comes to audio typing experience, there are two levels of expertise. The first type is primary experience with transcription and simply refers to the number of years the company has been around and the amount of transcription work that has been done over the years. As the old proverbial saying goes, ‘practice makes perfect’, an experienced audio typist works better, faster, and makes fewer mistakes than one who is just beginning. While talent and special skills are an added advantage, nothing compares to experience.

The second type of experience relates to the nature of transcription you require. Whether you are looking for a transcription in the field of medicine, law, or business, it is better to go with a company that has prior experience in that particular field. Many transcription agencies however serve a diverse range of clients.

The Types of Services Offered
Some audio typing companies have restrictions on some services. Therefore, it is important to look at the specific documents they can help you with especially when you are in need of a lot of different typing services. It is wise to go with a multi-functional company as it offers a variety of audio typing services, which include manuscript typing, standard document typing, and anything else that you could possibly want.

The Transcription Method Used
Most companies have trained audio typists working on transcriptions but some use audio to text processing programs that do the transcription. Computer programs work well and can accurately convert some files. However, when there is a lot of background noise or the narrator has an unclear accent, a computer program may fail to produce a good transcript.

Therefore, it is important first to consider the nature of the work you want transcribed. If a computer program can do the transcription, then go for it but ensure that the company has human proofreaders who will check to ensure that the final transcript is accurate. If the transcription work you want done requires a personal touch, then you should hire a company that has real audio typists. The transcriptionists should also be fluent in the language in which your audio files are recorded in to ensure they understand and properly transcribe any abbreviations that may be present in the file.
When you ask what Matthew C Martino is known for some immediately say Lets Fly and for those in the film world he is known for his production works. He is considered a very young dynamic hard worker but the 21year old recently told CelebSpy in an interview that 'I absolutely love the game and it's a shame I never got to play'

Martino was referring to football. He told stories of how we he played football from a young age in Zimbabwe and even when he relocated to the UK it was one of his favourite sports. 'I often played in goal, but I started moving into defence and because I'm quicker on my left foot I managed to establish myself as a left back' he said

The Lets Fly author called football his favourite sport and called on for more support to be offered to this game 'I think every young man loves this game and we need to ensure that there is enough support for aspiring footballers, It can be a difficult game to get into but after the initial intro is made many peoples dream could come true'.

Martino has vowed to bring change within the football world including supporting charities and clubs that provide opportunities for aspiring footballers. Martino himself has also said he is working towards making himself fitter and looks forward to returning to the beautiful game very soon.

Well we are sure any team would be lucky to have you, after years of training though!

To many people Christmas is just another and simple day. Neither they feel any excitement nor they want to celebrate the joys and blessings. What would be the reason behind that? Unaffordable things? Or least interest in these kind of celebrations?

Might be one of the above mentioned reasons are the main cause for not celebrating the event but, what if they enjoy the real charm without experiencing any budget stress? Surely they can enjoy the real contentment of the event.

I was planning to throw a budget friendly Christmas dinner for friends. So I planned to make a proper list in which I mentioned the healthy eatables and all expenses.

Hiring Place:
First of all the problem was the arrangement of venue and its charges. I was not able to pay high charges, because you don’t only have to pay a rent but you also have to fulfill the demands of catering services. So I decided to arrange the party celebrations in my private setting.

Budget Friendly Food Items:
I was the main in charge of the entire event. So I thought to cook multiple items in which oven roasted brine soaked, fruit cake, Barbie cue arrangement, holiday desserts, and rolled sugar cookies were the main items to present.

Then I thought another idea to save some money that I should ask my one or two close guests to bring some soft drinks and alcoholic drinks with them. So that we can enjoy the real pleasure in quite friendly and fruitful environment.

Party Decorations:
A big problem was the arrangement of party decorations within a set budget. I asked many friends to give some suggestions which are affordable regarding interior decoration. Some told me to use simple sparkly papers, some told me to use colorful ribbons to design the doors and walls. But one of a close friend proposed a brilliant idea which I liked the most. The idea was to find out the family album of last year Christmas party and order the services of spectacular photo printing on canvas with some artistic variations of acrylic and metal. I really appreciated that unique idea. Moreover I decided to put cinnamon scented candles in the lounge that remind the people it’s a Christmas party.

Decoration of Kitchen items:
Then I shifted my attention towards the decoration of kitchen items. Because kitchen could be the central attention for your guests, especially for ladies. So I thought to use the latest & budget friendly idea and ordered to make Santa clause pictures on crockery and marvelous cake items on canvas prints so that the guests can further enjoy the charm and glory of Christmas dinner.

Party Activities:
Christmas celebration without singing, gaming and dance parties are totally meaningless and boring. But these activities demand more money, because you have to arrange expensive lightning systems and flood lights which were beyond my approach and budget. So I brainstorm the ideas and finally I thought to use my own and personal laptop, and connected big speakers with it. Now everyone was able to enjoy their favorite music.

The nail is the body's most important asset, and is important to you too. They add to your general attractiveness, besides alerting you when something is wrong inside your body. When they turn brown or darker in color, it's a sign that you need to visit your doctor for some advice. Well, if you are obsessed with your nails, you will naturally want to take care of them and even the slightest sign of nail damage is enough to get you worrying.

Nail fungus is one of the most common nail ailments we've seen so far. Also known as onychomycosis, this fungal infection burrows deep beneath your nails, and if left untreated, will cause your nails to look crusty, thick or distorted. Actually, the condition could turn out to be an embarrassing one if it persists.

What are the symptoms of nail fungus?
The symptoms of nail fungus are quite obvious, because they are visible early enough. You'll see the tip of your nail developing a white or yellow patch. Over time, this patch thickens and eventually distorts the shape of your nail as time goes by.

Fungi are capable of spreading really quickly, so they grow underneath and into your nails causing discoloration, crusting and darkening of the affected nail. Then the affected nail begins to separate from the nail bed. It is at this stage that you may begin to experience some pain as well as some foul odor around the tip of your fingers and toes.

Who gets toe-nail fungus?
Statistically, nail fungus infections are common among men than women, and is also common with the elderly than the young. Other factors that may put one at risk of catching this infection include the following:

   1. Slow growing nails
   2. Heavy perspiration
   3. Humid and moist environmental conditions
   4. Shoes and socks without ventilation
   5. Walking bear-footed in damp places
   6. Previous injury on the nail
   7. Weakened immune system
   8. Poor blood circulation

What causes nail fungus?
This infection is cause by microscopic organisms known as fungi which don't require sunlight in order to survive. A group of fungi known as dermatophytes are responsible for causing this nail infection. Furthermore, some type of yeast and molds can also cause this nail infection.

''Trichophyton rubrum'' is the most common type of dermatophytes responsible for nail infection. However, common mold causes of this infection may include scopulariopsis, neoscytalidium and aspergillus. These pathogens usually gain access into the skin through small cuts around the nails or through small separations between the nail bed and the actual nail. Now, when the nail provides an ideal environment, the fungi grow.

What are the natural treatments available?
Treating this nail condition can be a long-term and expensive process as well. Patients can use oral anti-fungal medication to treat this condition, but again these may come with plenty of side effects which you are not ready to deal with. Prolonged use of these drugs may cause skin rashes or liver damage. Therefore, the safest way to go about treating toe-nail fungus infection is through using natural means.

Tea tree oil is a natural disinfectant which can be found in most health food stores. Now, this requires patience because tea tree oil doesn't work overnight to bring results the next day. Once you have it, paint the affected nail twice a day for at least 2 months. It's a long term treatment, so you have to wait until the nail grows out in order for the fungus to die out.

Another alternative home remedy you could use is grapefruit seed extract. Use it the same way you use tea tree extract. Paint the affected nail twice a day for at least 2 months. Garlic also has anti-fungal properties, but you have to consume it raw in order to see long term results.

Some patients go for oral medication when they are not the safest. Even though side effects are not too common with these drugs, there's no need to take risks when there are proven natural remedies that can treat the condition.

While you treat this nail fungal infection, ensure that you keep your toenails dry at all times. Wearing open shoes is most welcomed due to ventilation purposes. Keep your fit as clean as possible, and remember that moisture is your worst enemy.
If the art work is not giving treat to your eyes the simply remove the art work from the frames and paint the frames in bold colors. Add your decorative items in the frame and match it with your décor. Among the many important decisions that need to be made when designing a business model, coming up with the right price might be one of the most crucial in determining your success.
But don’t charge enough and you won’t be able to keep your business afloat on the profits – and you might find that people actually assume that what you’re selling isn’t very good.

Fortunately there are lots of strategies and standards that make this decision a little easier to make. Read on and let’s take a look at how you put a price on all that hard work…
First of all it’s crucial to ensure that you research the market that you’re entering to see how much is regularly charged for your item or service. This way you will know what you’re competing with, and at the same time you’ll get an idea of what people are willing to pay.

Which are the most successful business models in the space? What can also be useful is to use surveys and to ask focus groups in your target demographic what they think the experience is worth. This way you can move forward with a lot more confidence rather than blindly hoping people will willingly part with their cash.

Costs

Next you need to work out what the costs are to you when you produce the items or provide the service. In the case of a physical product this will mean finding out how much manufacturing cost, while for services it will mean looking into expenses and supplies. At the same time though you also need to work out how much you will be spending on the extraneous elements – on transport, on distribution, on packaging and on labour.

This way you can calculate a rough ‘per unit cost’ which will tell you how much you need to charge in order to make profit. If you calculate your existing debts and other problems too, then you will be able to pin point how many sales you’d need to make in order to break even and start turning profit overall. There are many accounting solutions that will help you with this process.

Picking the Price Tag

So now you know how much you need to get for your items, but remember that this isn’t the price your customers are going to be paying. This will be the ‘wholesale’ price, which is the amount you are going to charge the resellers. Of course they still need to make a profit though, and if you follow the ‘keystoning’ standard of pricing, then they will want to charge roughly twice the amount they pay for the item. And according to the 1-5 rule, that eventual cost should be five times the amount of your per unit cost.

Of course if it’s a service you’re providing then there will be no resellers to consider, meaning you get to keep a lot more of the product. Either way, if you can work your numbers so that this all works out, then you should find that your items sell like hot candy and that everyone involved gets to take home a good cut of the pie at the end of the day.

With the winter months upon us, it is wise to begin thinking of ways to keep your home warm in the frigid months ahead.

Consider what is most important to you: is it keeping costs low? Energy efficiency? Maximum heat? Here are some tips on how to achieve a warm and cozy home this winter without breaking the bank:

Turn Down That Thermostat

While it may seem obvious, it is far too easy to go throughout the day with the thermostat set on a higher number than you really need it to be, and it is also easy to forget about it. Make it a goal to keep the thermostat under a certain set number for so many hours a day, only turning it up when absolutely necessary. A homeowner can save up to 3% on their heating bill for every degree the thermostat is turned down. Why not give it a try?

Cut Off Cold Air Flow

There are many hidden gaps and holes throughout a house where cold air can seep in from the outside, completely undermining the work of the thermostat. Place a towel under doors to block the space between the floor and the door, as well as along the bottom of windows. Spray foam insulation is a key helper in blocking drafty holes. Stop sneaky cold air in its tracks by plugging leaks with spray foam insulation before the weather turns. This low-cost solution will pay for itself in the amount of money saved on future winter energy bills.

Invest in Curtains

If you have bare windows, no matter how large or small, they present an opportunity for the cold air from outside to permeate your house and make the temperature drop. By covering windows with heavy curtains and closing them at night, you will make your house easier to heat and therefore more energy-efficient. Opening curtains on south facing windows during sunny days will heat your home naturally, saving degrees on the thermostat.

Watch Your Rugs

The simple act of keeping rugs and other obstructions free from heating vents makes it easier and much quicker for the vents to heat a home. If heated air is able to circulate properly it will do so in less time and with less energy.

Turn Down the Water Heater While You’re at It

Don’t worry—you will not have to sacrifice a hot shower in order to heat the rest of your home. Statistics show that homeowners who make the decision to turn down their water heaters to around 115 to 120 degrees will reduce their monthly bill, and all without a noticeable change in water temperature.

There are many different ways one can reduce their heating bill in the winter months, all with little to no overhead. Along with the tips listed above, though a bit pricier, keeping your furnace maintained and modern will also help reduce heat bills in the long run. An old, out-of-date furnace can often end up costing you more to operate than you realize. Don’t waste any more money or energy when it is so simple to efficiently and cheaply heat your home—in just a few easy steps.
Tips to Use Coffers in Ceilings:

Following lines explain 7 most
interesting and effective tips to use coffered ceilings in relatively modern
homes.

·

       Off-Kilter
Grid:

Off-Kilter grids have really garnered
interest in recent years and if you trim them with black moldings, they can
really impart a sense of dimension and beauty to the room. In addition, it is
better to usepolished wood on the furniture that will inset echoes of
everything in surrounding connecting the ceiling with floor in style.

·

      Asymmetrical
Arrangements:

It is a sensational idea to use
simple and straight beams and set them at varying distances from each other to
create and emphasize a mesmerizing asymmetrical arrangement. Instead of creating
a uniform and dull coffer scheme on the ceiling, the asymmetrically arranged
beams will bring spontaneity and variety to the ceiling making it more
adorable.

·

       Flat
Boards:

Sometimes it is better to do away
with traditional methods in favor of new and more exciting ones. For instance,
it is better to use flat boards instead of traditional moldings that will
create a unique and admirable coffered effect that will work perfectly with
places like a transitional kitchen.

·

Flat
Boards for Barrel Shaped Ceiling:

Similarly, flat coffered boards
are perfect to accentuate the effects and looks of a barrel shaped ceilings
especially in the corridors. This is important because traditional coffered
ceilings look too cramped in tight and curvy places like barrel ceilings
especially if there are high cabinets in the area as well.

·

      Coffering
with Natural Wood Finish:

You can also decorate the
coffered ceiling with natural wood finish that will not only help you to bring
ceiling down visually but will also create a unique and fabulous sense of
intimacy between the floor, walls and ceilings. Furthermore, you can adore the
walls with decoration pieces like wall canvas printsin order to augment
the looks created by natural wood finishing.

When faced with a relative showing signs of frailty, whether mental or physical, as a result of old age, many people – albeit with heavy hearts – worry that it may be time for them to be moved into a nursing home. Nursing homes provide a very important service, allowing people to spend their final days in a safe place where they are cared for and have company.

While you do hear bad stories of some nursing homes, the majority are well staffed, well maintained, and treat their residents with care and dignity. However, a nursing home should still be a last resort when other options like in home care have been exhausted. Here is why:

Expense

While care in a nursing home is in many cases necessary towards the end of a person's life, the expense can be a lot, and can mean that the person has to sell their home or give up other things they may have intended to leave to their families. If they don't have these kinds of assets, it can be a financial burden on the rest of the family.

As a result of this, the later you make the move, the less the financial implication will be. Of course, you're never going to put money before your family's wellbeing, but if there are options that keep your relative in their own home while still granting them the care they need, or if you can look after them adequately in your home for the time being, then this is going to be better.

Preference

While every person is different, the majority of people are reluctant to give up their independence and leave their homes for a nursing home, even if they accept they are no longer able to cope on their own. This can be a traumatic and upsetting time for the whole family, and so if it can be avoided altogether with a more attractive solution, or at least put off until it is the only option, this can make things better for everyone involved in the decision.

Quality of Life

While nursing homes these days offer their residents, in many cases, good food, entertainment and company, it is still for many a less interesting and occupying lifestyle than being in their own home or with family. Even just having the freedom to watch what they want, when they want on TV and sleep and eat when they like rather than at set times can make a difference, as can things like being able to have their own pets. Many elderly people still have active minds and want their lives to remain as much in their control as possible, even if they need help with physical tasks.

If it is viable to have your elderly family member move in with you or another relative, who has the capability to give them the care they need, or for someone from a home health agency to be brought in to give the required help and assistance, you may well find this is a more financially viable and pleasant solution than using a nursing home at this time. Of course, you will have to keep monitoring the level of care they need as residential care may become the only option at a later point.

No before we start this article there’s a certain section of the audience that we need to address right away. That’s the people who are saying “Playing videogames on date night? But girls don’t play videogames!” Firstly, you are very wrong. A quick bit of googling shows that the gender breakdown for videogames is something like 56% male to 44% female, and the dedication of those women to gaming becomes even more impressive if you’ve ever spent five seconds in the comments section of a gaming site.

Secondly, gaming can actually be a really great date night activity. If gaming is what you do for fun, then what could be better than sharing that activity with the person you love? However, although gaming can be a great romantic activity, it’s important to pick the right game. So far that reason, here are three games that can make for a great date night, and two you should probably avoid.

The Best Games for Date Night

Portal 2
The best games for a romantic evening in are collaborative games. Games that will spark conversation and that allow you to solve problems together. Portal 2’s co-op mode is the perfect example of this. For those who don’t know, Portal is a puzzle game where you are equipped with a gun that shoots wormholes.

Using this gun you navigate complex obstacle courses, and as time goes on you find some sophisticated uses for the gun, such as using it to help you traverse a long gap by falling quickly through one mouth of the wormhole and shooting out the other end at high speed. While the puzzles range from the tricky to the mind bending, you can have great fun figuring them out together.

Minecraft
Oh what is there to say about Minecraft? Minecraft will ruin your life. It’s a building game that starts out like you’ve been given the greatest Lego set in the world, until you realise you can break the wooden blocks down into sticks, and use the sticks to make tools, and use the tools to mine coal and stones, and use those to make a furnace, and suddenly you’re building a working 16 bit computer, or a scale model of Middle Earth.

What’s more, you’ve got a procedurally generated play area that is literally bigger than the planet Earth. So you can build gigantic palaces made of glass, or simply go exploring together. Just remember to build yourself somewhere safe to stay during the night to avoid being eaten by zombies, skeletons, giant spiders and the dreaded creepers...

LA Noire
LA Noire is a game that doesn’t actually have a multiplayer function. What it does have is a richly detailed period environment, a complex plot and pretty much the entire cast of Mad Men. You can have fun taking it in turns to do the driving sequences, but the real fun to be had here is in the interrogation scenes, when you can get into some quite impassioned arguments over whether the suspect is telling the truth or has something to hide. Maybe skip the flame thrower-in-the-sewers finale though.

The Games to Avoid on Date Night

Any of the Halo Games
I’ll be honest with you, there are few things in this life I find more amusing than sneaking up behind one of my dearest friends in Halo 3 and smacking them to the far end of the map a gravity hammer, watching their corpse do that hilarious front crawl animation before they run slap bang into a tree trunk.

However, as fun as this is, it’s not the sort of activity that is likely to engender amorous feelings in the one you love (or for that matter, in yourself after they sneak up behind you with a gravity hammer). You know, unless you’re both into that.

Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead is a collaborative game based around the universally beloved theme of killing hordes upon hordes of the undead. It’s great fun, but it’s probably not the best game for date night, for the following reason: It brings out your absolute basest survival instincts, and unless you’ve got a really solid relationship, you don’t want your partner to see those unless absolutely necessary.

Do you really want your love to see how you refuse to heal them as they’re limping along, because you “might need the first aid kit later”? Do you really want them to see just how quickly you are willing to run to the escape boat and leave you to die?

Trust is, there are some things in a relationship it is best to keep a secret.

When you think about the dangers that may face you in a lightning storm, you usually think about what might happen if you are outside.

Most people know to avoid wide open spaces, to stay away from high points, and not to seek shelter under a tall tree, but what a lot of people don't realize is that lightning can actually hit you when you are inside your home (or any other building) as well.

This isn't a common occurrence, but it is possible, so it is best to know and understand how lightning can 'jump' and know the things not to do when you are indoors during a lightning storm.

How Does Lightning Get Into A House?

Lightning, as you are probably aware, is raw electricity, and electricity behaves in certain known ways. It tries to get to ground using the most conductive thing it can find. It can also jump across spaces from one conductive material to another.

If your house is hit by lightning, the route it may take may lead it to your own electrical lines or to water in your home, and from there it can jump to you. This is how you can actually be hit by lightning even when you feel safe, warm and dry inside your house, particularly if you touch things or are close to things that can conduct it.

So What Are The Safe Things To Do?

If you are experiencing a lightning storm, and the lightning is close by, turn off all of your electrical appliances, including things you may usually leave on all the time like your land line phone, your cable box, and your computer.

Only ever use cordless phones or cellphones during a storm if you need to call for help or to call to see if someone you know is OK, as lightning can travel down a phone wire quite easily. Find a place to sit and wait for the storm to end that is away from metal things like door or window frames, and away from electrical sockets.

It may sound paranoid to spend the whole duration of the storm sitting in the center of your front room, but this is actually the safest thing to do. You don't really have to go that far though, your couch or your bed, as long as they are away from sockets, can be good options!

As well as this, you need to avoid water while the storm is in progress. Everyone knows the saying that 'water and electricity don't mix', so it is clear that the last thing you want to be doing if there is a risk of lightning striking your home is lathering up in the shower or doing the washing up!

In most cases, when lightning strikes a home it actually only damages wiring or appliances, so usually the worst you have to worry about is some storm damage, but it is best to take precautions that will ensure you are safe. Once the storm is over, test your appliances carefully and check your phone line is operational.
Launching into a new relationship can be exciting and scary in equal measure. Learning to trust a new person with our heart takes a great leap of faith and is not something to do without careful thought and consideration. That said, careful thought and consideration are not often present at the beginning of a new relationship – when analytical discussion is usually discarded in favour of passion!

I am not going to sugar coat it. Starting a new relationship is not easy. There will be times when you wonder why you bothered. But there will also be times when you are so pleased you did. Love makes the world go round, and everybody deserves a bit of it in their lives.

So, let's get started.

Love yourself

First of all it is important to feel as good about yourself as possible. If you have come out of a relationship feeling hurt and bruised, you may have some confidence issues. Ask yourself if you are really ready to throw yourself in at the deep end again.

If the answer is yes, why not treat yourself to a pampering session for some rejuvenating therapies? Feel good anti-ageing treatments and a glamorous new hairstyle will make you feel a million dollars and give you that extra edge you need to cut it in the world of dating. But remember, you are prettifying yourself for your own pleasure, nobody else.

What sort of a relationship do you want?

No doubt this will be influenced by past experience. If your last relationship was stormy and claustrophobic, recognise it for what it was. Be wary of repeating past behaviours. It sounds nuts, but it is often true that we fall into patterns with our relationships. Being self aware is very important.

Be honest about what you do and don't want out of a relationship and then be very strict with yourself about not accepting anything less. Perhaps you want something a lot more relaxed and free? Remember, you are the author of your own story and only you can decide how it turns out.

It's complicated

If there are children in the picture, things can get a little complicated. The dynamic gets a whole lot more complex and you have to manage the sensitive feelings and expectations of a host of people. Take things very slowly. Follow your gut instinct and be kind to yourself as well. Sometimes we just have to take a chance, but the risks should always be calculated.

Look in the right places

Finding a new partner requires tenacity, good luck and a bit of ingenuity. Yes, it is entirely possible to source a new partner on the internet these days, and many do. There are hundreds of internet dating websites catering to a wide variety of niche markets. Alternatively, seek out areas where single people might congregate such as dance classes, church, activities clubs etc.

Singles evenings at nightclubs and pubs can be worth a try as well as singles holidays and supper clubs. A shared interest is a great base on which to start building a new relationship, so why not make things easier for yourself?

Love in slow motion

Once you have found somebody you think may be 'a keeper', take things slowly. Introduce them to your family and friends and see how they get on. Do they cope well with being interrogated by your best friend, for example? How are they with the kids? Are they polite to your Mum? What are their friends like? What about their family? Are you comfortable with them? Keep your eyes open and remain alert.

Avoid having s*x with each other for as long as possible, get to know one another well before making that step. Research states that around 85 per cent of couples wait at least thirty days before getting it on between the sheets. Once s*x is involved the whole picture can begin to get even more complicated and difficult to fathom, so just beware.

Being in a happy, loving relationship is something everybody deserves. However, once you've been hurt or have lost a loved one, stepping back onto the dating merry go round can be really daunting. For your best chances of success, take things slowly, accept the support of your friends and family and be honest about what you want. Happy hunting!

Vandals are a major problem in a lot of areas, and building sites can be a popular target. Whether it is graffiti or breakages, new structures seem to hold a lot of appeal for people who engage in antisocial behavior, and this can cause serious problems.

Not only can cleaning up or rebuilding things on your new build that are damaged take time and expense away from the project in hand, but also, the vandals can attack equipment that you are using and this can be an even bigger problem if it is machinery or vehicles you have hired.

Another issue a lot of people don't even consider is that in many cases, if a vandal or any other trespasser gets hurt on your site, because building sites can be dangerous places, you may be liable to compensate them!

As you can see, vandals can be a real bugbear when it comes to managing a work site, so you should take what steps you can to prevent them gaining access and to disguise any expensive equipment that might catch their eye.

Storing or Covering Machinery

Covering up or hiding away machines and vehicles you have on site will make the site look less interesting to vandals from the outside. You can do this in a number of ways, for example driving vehicles into garages or covered areas at the end of the working day, or using a building tent.

While a tent may not seem like it will offer much protection, it will hide things over night and will also give you the additional benefit of helping you keep your equipment clean and undamaged by more natural forces!

On Site Security

You should have at least some form of security on site for any project, even minor ones. While you may not have the budget for a proper security guard or a CCTV system, things like good fencing and security lights can be an affordable way to have your site look like it is defended. You can also use signs that imply there are security measures in place such as dogs, CCTV or guards, displayed prominently on your fences.

Of course, for a major project it is best to actually have these things rather than just to say they are there, but you need to assess the risk in the area where you are building and manage it in a way that suits the scale of the job and budget.

Protecting and securing your site and associated machinery rigging need not be difficult if you plan it as part of your project, rather than leaving site security as an afterthought. You can manage the security of the project and add to it as time goes on if you feel the threat of vandalism, theft or other trespass is greater than you initially anticipated, but you should do some research into the prevalence of this sort of crime where you are working ahead of time and take appropriate initial action. This can save a lot of money and stress in the long run.
Flooding can be a real nightmare, and if you have recently experienced a flood, chances are you are worried about whether it will be possible to save a lot of your most prized possessions.

Whether you have electrical gear, upholstery and furnishings or paper products and books that you need to try and salvage, it can be very hit and miss as to whether you can get things dried out and back in working order right away after a flood has damaged them. In many cases, especially where things that are made of fabrics are involved, there is a very limited window of time in which you can get things clean and dry before they are ruined forever.

Happily, as well as companies who specialize in flood restoration, there are also a couple of devices you can buy or hire that can help you get your stuff cleaner and drier in less time than simply washing them and leaving them to dry naturally in the air. If you have had a flood, try to hire, borrow or buy these things to help you get your gear back to its best possible state quickly:

Wet Vac

A wet vac, which is essentially a hoover that works with wet things and can shampoo things like carpet as it goes, is a really big asset when you are fighting flood damage.

Wet vacs can help you to properly clean things like rugs, curtains and chairs when flood waters have soaked into them. Remember that the water you are dealing with in a typical flood tends not to be clean and safe, so you need to use something like a wet vac to cleanse the fabric and make sure any germs and other contaminants are gone.

The vacuum action will take off excess water as well, helping you get things dry as well as leaving them clean and smelling fresh. Wet vacs are usually pretty easy to hire because they are the kind of thing people use at home from time to time but not frequently enough to warrant purchasing one, so you should find it easy to get hold of one when you need it. There could be a lot of demand after a flood, however, so get in touch with a store or company who loan them out as soon as you can.

Dehumidifier

When you are trying to dry things out, one of the most helpful things to have at your disposal is a powerful dehumidifier. A dehumidifier can help with water removal by drying out the air around the thing you are trying to salvage, helping the water to evaporate much faster. It tends to be better than fans or heaters for this type of job, and will not damage the things you are trying to dry in the same way as something like a hairdryer can when used up close.

You can buy dehumidifier units reasonably cheaply but if you want an industrial strength one to help you dry out a lot of items that were affected by the flood, you may be able to hire one.

These days, unless you are a real fan of old cameras, chances are most of your vacation pictures, family photos and other general images were taken on a digital camera, meaning that even if you print them out you have copies somewhere on your computer, phone or on your Facebook or Instagram account which you can go back to if the hard copies ever get destroyed.

Of course, while we are all very used to digital cameras now, they haven't really been commonplace for all that long in the grand scheme of things, so if you were around pre 21st century it is likely that you have photo albums or boxes of old pictures that you took in the past.

How Would Losing Your Photos Make You Feel?

Photo albums are one of those strange things that while we may not even take them out and look at them that often, we feel a strong bond to them and are very upset if they are lost.

Many people who have had household disasters like floods and fires say afterward that it is the loss of things like these that cannot be replaced that is the worst thing, rather than losing expensive things they can buy new again when their insurance pays out! Photos, especially kids photo albums of children who have since grown up, or albums showing happy occasions you want to remember from the past like your first vacation with your husband or your first Christmas with your child, can be some of the most sentimentally important things in a home, yet many people have not taken any steps to safeguard them.

Scan, Organize and File

Taking digital scans of your old photos is easy, and can be done with an ordinary scanner/copier type device. If you don't have one of these, you most likely will know someone who does, so ask to borrow it, or, if you want a more basic way to get some form of copy of your old pictures you can even photograph them with your digital camera or phone.

The important thing is to replicate the image in a digital file. When you have got all of your pictures (or you can do this as you go along), create a library that is either on a cloud service like Dropbox, or on a site like Instagram or Facebook where the pictures will be held online rather than on your computer, so if your computer breaks down you don't lose all of these files.

If you don't want other people to see the photos online, you can create private libraries on most photo websites, so you don't actually need to share your pictures to use them.

Having copies of your pictures that are held safely on the web means that you can look at them, or print new copies, whenever you want to. While this may not be as good as having the originals back after an emergency, at least you will still have the images from all of those great memories to look at!

Back in the day, offices were very much a set of closed off rooms in which small teams and even individuals operated on their own, closed off from the rest of the workforce.

A manager might have his own office, and next door, his secretary might have their own office too.

The team who dealt with one area of the business would all be in a room together, and if you wanted to talk to people from other departments and teams you'd have to go and find them.

In the nineties, however, this all seemed to change almost overnight, and in just about every office and industry in the world – especially more forward facing ones like IT. Now, open plan offices with a few conference rooms and perhaps a corner office or two for the very top people are the default, and it is very unusual to take up a new job in a middle management position and be shown to a nice little room of your own with your name on the door.

Here we take a look at why open plan is better suited to the modern age, and what the benefits are from a working and design perspective:

Open Plan Offices Are Conducive to Networking and Collaboration

These days, things in companies tend to be a lot more interdepartmental, and so you need to know people outside your own field. You may work in accounts, but you probably need to talk to someone from the software department about coordinating a new upgrade to your systems, or someone in logistics about getting to a meeting at a client's location to finalize a payment.

In a less technologically advanced age, things like this didn't matter so much, you knew the people you needed to know and everything else the business did wasn't important in your work, but now everything is connected, being able to see the people you need to work with and simply stroll over to them makes a big difference in terms of teamwork.

Open Plan Is More Flexible and Conserves Space

Another reason why the modern office tends to be open plan is that companies tend to scale up and down very quickly, perhaps bringing on board a team of consultants for a month for a special project or quickly expanding a department.

Open plan offices are much easier to cram extra people into, and also to reshuffle people when you want to reorganize the seating arrangements to make up new temporary teams. Open plan offices also make 'hot desk' arrangements, where people simply sit at whatever desk they want to when they come in each day rather than having their own desk, meaning part time employees or those who sometimes work from home don't take up a desk at all times, possible.

Like it or hate it, the busy, sometimes noisy, open plan office is here to stay, and it is easy to see why from a budgetary and practical point of view, companies love it. However, it is likely there are still plenty of bosses who yearn for the days they could get some peace in a room of their own!
If you have looked up anything on the web lately, you have probably noticed that video content is returned more than any other kind of web content in searches. This is something every webmaster or website owner needs to understand.

Producing great text content is one thing, but it is also important to have your content returned in video searches. So just why do people prefer video content to written work? Here we take a look at what internet users are really looking for and how video is often the only way to scratch that itch!

Why Read When You Can Watch?

You probably know some people who have seen all the Harry Potter movies but have never picked up one of J K Rowling's books. There are a lot of people who actually prefer to get all of their information by viewing film rather than reading.

If you are not one of these people and you tend to prefer books or newspapers to TV and movies it can be hard to understand, but it is definitely a trend you should leverage in your website development. Even the biggest news outlets now tend to provide a lot of video content rather than just written articles, and this is something you can harness on your own blog or website.

How To Make Good Video Content

Making video content is actually a lot easier than you might think. You don't need a state of the art camera or a professional film crew to come up with good work. A simple webcam or a camera phone can be enough to produce convincing reviews of products or other content that your users will love.

Once you have filmed your content, you can embed it on your blog and post out links on things like Facebook and Twitter, but it is also important to make sure you have a YouTube presence. YouTube is one of the most significant services on the web and its internal search engine is one of the most used (it actually has a bigger market share in terms of web searches than Bing).

It is free, and very simple to set up your own YouTube channel, so this is something you should definitely do if you are producing web content on a video basis.

Promoting Your Videos

Promoting video is the same as pushing any other web content – the idea is to encourage sharing where possible and to enable your web visitors to distribute your content to their friends and make it go viral. You should link all of your YouTube videos to your blog, and market your video blogs on Facebook and Twitter as much as you can.

You should find that if your content is useful and valuable to your audience, for example if you are reviewing products people are interested in buying, then your video blog can really take off. It can take time to build any sort of web presence, but if you work hard and make good content, you should have no problem becoming a successful video blogger!

It must be said that a diamond is the most popular choice of precious gemstone when it comes to buying an engagement ring. There are various different shapes, or cuts as they are referred to by jewelers, and this will allow a bride to portray her own individual style.

You should also be aware that the actual cut of a diamond will impact on the overall price of a ring. In truth, there is no specific meaning to the variety of cuts available, but it is said that certain shapes or cuts will imply that a bride has certain personality traits.

Round Diamonds

One of the most common and indeed popular cuts of diamond is the round shape.

These diamonds can contain anywhere up to 108 facets, which will also help to cover over any imperfections or flaws. Round diamonds are also commonly referred to as brilliant diamonds and they will signify that a bride is very traditional in her thoughts and feelings. It is also said that, as there is no beginning or end to a round diamond, this signifies eternity.

Oval Diamonds

The oval is considered a classic shape of diamond and also signifies being traditional.

However, there are far more popular choices for engagement rings and therefore the oval shape also signifies wanting to be a little different. Basically, if you have a bride who believes in tradition, but has an extremely modern personality then an oval shaped diamond may be the best choice.

Princess Cut Diamonds

Princess cut diamonds have become more and more popular as engagement rings over the past few years.

They are square in shape, so a little different from the norm. Due to the fact that a princess cut diamond displays clean lines it is said that this type of diamond is far more suited to a modern personality. It is said that the princess cut signifies the past, present and the future, which is probably why it is one of the most popular engagement rings sold anywhere around the world.

Pear Shaped Diamonds

Pear shaped diamonds are commonly referred to as tear drop shaped diamonds and due to their actual shape there are many options to how an engagement ring sporting a pear shape can be worn.

You can wear this type of ring with the point of the diamond either facing up or down, which signifies versatility. So, if the bride to be is particularly versatile then this type of ring may be best suited to her.

Heart Shaped Diamonds

As we are talking about love and marriage the heart shaped diamond had to get a mention. The heart shaped diamond has specifically been designed with love in mind and it is said to signify romance.

Funnily enough, the heart shaped diamond isn’t as popular as some other diamond cuts when it comes to engagement rings, which may seem a little strange. After all, we know the diamond is going to last forever and what better way to show your love for someone than gifting them with a diamond heart.

Whether you need one for personal or professional reasons, your website matters. Your website is where customers and clients will navigate through a maze in which they will encounter what you sell or offer and who you are.

While doing so, they might reach the end of the maze, deciding to purchase your products or services. However, if they get lost in the maze, then they might either get out or turn right back around, deciding not to purchase your products or services-- or come back to your website again.

Its bad for business to lose potential customers and clients in the short or long term by having a hard-to-use website. Make sure navigating through your website is easy, and that your content is informative and persuasive.

If it seems like there are a lot of things that you have to worry about when it comes to your website, then you’re absolutely right. In fact, we haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of worries and concerns regarding your website.

But, before you get lost in the maze of your own website and give up on building it, either hire someone to do it for you or learn how to do it yourself. No matter who is the mastermind behind your website, here are five components of every great website, giving you five less things to worry about.

1. Bold Text -- Bold text doesn’t just mean text using bold style. It means text, particularly, a title, that stands out. You want your text and title in particular to be bold, catching the reader’s attention. They are more likely to be attracted to and remember bold text as well, so don’t be afraid to be bold. Use cursive, use larger fonts, use bold text.

2. Vibrant Images -- Vibrant images are also an important component of every great website. Whether you show images of yourself, someone else, or an object such as a product you sell or a service you offer and specialize in, make sure your images will catch the reader’s eye.

3. Pleasing Colors -- Colors matter, too, and the right combination of colors, either soft or bold, is important to pleasing the eye of the reader of your website. So, you don’t have to stick to the color wheel combinations, but that might be a good place to start finding out which colors would work for your website.

4. Excellent Content -- However, without excellent content, text, images, and color just won’t make much of a difference. Be sure to include the following on your website, making sure to feature them on an easy to use bar at the top or side of your page:

Bio

About

Products

Services

Testimonials

Blog

Links to your social media sites

Certifications

5. A Unique, Efficient Style -- Overall, every great website has a unique, efficient style. This is something you will have to take the time to find and create, but its worth it.

Think of a website like a home. It should be clean and uncluttered, but have everything to offer its guests-- in this case, readers or visitors. That way, people will come to your house-- in this case website, often.

The vast majority of carpets found in the marketplace today are typically made from synthetic polymers.

It is estimated that over 50% of carpets produced today consist of nylon, which if you weren’t aware is made from plastic - a lot of plastics, including bottles which contain soft drinks, end up being recycled and eventually become carpet.

However, you may be surprised to hear that a tiny percentage of carpets are made from woven wool nowadays, even though they are known to be easier to clean and age very well. The main reason synthetics have become so popular is because they handle heavy traffic and moisture far better than woven wools.

How is Carpet Made?

Firstly, the materials used are made into yarns before the yarns are tufted. A machine is used to complete the process of tufting and this machine typically has 12-foot rollers and in excess of 12,000 needles working away, in much the same way as a sewing machine works.

Hooks are then used to pull the yarn in order to make a loop of a specific size, which is completed in conjunction with producing pile of a specific height. The size of the piles very much depends on how shaggy the carpet should be. For example, a few decades back shag pile carpets were all the rage, although carpets nowadays are typically produced with far lower piles.

This is because we have learnt over time the lower the pile, the better a carpet stands up to traffic and the easier it is to clean.

Dyeing the Carpet

The yarn will then need to be dyed, although this can be completed before or after tufting, although if it is completed afterwards you will have far greater control and many more options.

The process of dyeing will involve initially boiling the tufted carpet in a container with water before certain chemicals and dye are added. The carpet and the solution will then boil for the next four hours. In order to add designs or patterns to the carpet it will need to go through the process of silk-screening, which is very similar to way in which t-shirts are produced.

However, there is an alternative method for adding designs, which will see the carpet rolled between embossed rollers.

The Finished Article

Once the tufting and dyeing procedures are completed the carpet will need to be bonded onto a backing material.

The carpet ends are then sewn together to produce a roll-type shape, which is probably how you are used to seeing them in carpet stores. The underside of the carpet will then need to be coated with another backing material, typically latex adhesive. This will then be loaded into another machine which will help to permanently bond the backing materials to the carpet.

The carpet will then be heated in an oven, which once again ensures that the bond becomes a permanent fixture.

Even before you see the finished article the carpet will need to be steamed, before being brushed and vacuumed, and there is even a machine that will remove any uneven tufts sticking out from the carpet – and only then is it finally ready to be shipped to warehouses and stores.
