First-Quarter Payment Reviews

According to Mark Mahaney, a Citi analyst, any new products that are being offered, such as PayPal’s Here, cannot be included in our report or even our revenue forecast, as they are typically wildcards. According to many analysts, revenue of $3.15 billion should yield shares of 52 cents per share.

However, these forecasts are on the high side. According to eBay and its forecasts, revenue of $3.05 million to $3.15 million should yield shares of 50-51 cents. However, these do not include certain expenses.

Analysts will however be on the lookout of the revenue generated from its core-market. Additionally, the acquisition of GSI is also an area of scrutiny by many analysts. According to eBay, the company wants to do well in both the payment and e-commerce sections. It aims at providing third-party retailers with the tools they need to rival companies such as Amazon.com.

However, if all goes well, PayPal’s mobile products could provide a huge and surprise lift to eBay’s revenue. Currently, eBay is trading at $36.03 a share. A 52-week high was also achieved by eBay when its stocks climbed to $38.18 a share.

It seems that only time will tell how effective the wildcards are for eBay. Until then, analysts can only wait and investors can only hold their breaths. Using the information currently available, it seems that PayPal’s mobile products, including PayPal Here, will provide a huge and surprise lift to eBay’s revenue.

Despite all of this, a surprising number of businesses aren't using AdWords in a way that effectively accomplishes this. Instead, they're using it like a billboard on the freeway.

Here's how to use AdWords the way it was meant to be used, and to boost your ROI into the stratosphere.

1. Split Campaigns and Ad Groups

It's always a little shocking to learn that a business hasn't divided up its ads into campaigns and groups. All too often, an internet marketer will merely collect a list of tangentially related keywords, create a single ad, and try to funnel all of the traffic from these keywords onto the same landing page.

There is something to be said for how easy it is to do this, but effective marketing is rarely easy. Here's the right way to do it:

- Segment Campaigns By Topic - Divide up your keywords into broad topics so that you can approach each of them separately. This way you don't end up trying to sell a hammer to somebody who is trying to by nails.

- Segment Ad Groups By Buying Cycle - You'll need to do a lot of split testing to figure this part out, but the ideal ad groups are segmented by where the customer is in the buying cycle. The earlier they are in the buying cycle, the more you should aim to get social shares, subscriptions, comments, and links than to get direct sales.

2. Get Extremely Specific

Ideally, you should have a different landing page for every single user intent. In some cases, different keywords could indicate the exact same user intent, but the overlap is typically small. Once you have divided up your ads and landing pages by stage in the buying cycle as well as the product they are interested in, you'll find that there are rarely more than three keywords that should lead to the same landing page.

3. Use the Keywords in the Ads

If they keyword appears in the ad, it appears in bold text that is more likely to catch the reader's eye. Of course, this only matters if the user clicks on the ad and it takes them to a landing page containing exactly what they expect to see.

Test sending users from the same ad to two different landing pages, each tailor made for a different stage of the buying cycle, to see which has the highest conversion rate. Once you have this nailed down, you can start testing two different versions of the same landing page.

5. Stay Updated

Keep yourself educated about the latest developments by Google AdWords. They are always introducing new options and capabilities, and you can miss out if you don't follow the subject closely.

So as a business owner, how do you balance the demand from your customers to allow credit card transactions, while keeping your overhead costs low and manageable?

It’s simple: get a smartphone.

Thanks to new technology, an iPhone or Android-based smartphone can be turned into a credit card processer with just a small device and a quickly downloaded app. Processors like Square and GoPayment offer these services, allowing you to take payments whenever and wherever your business takes you. All you need is a smartphone.

Plus, these services are free to set up and inexpensive to manage. So whether you only have a few credit card payments from a couple customers a year or you need to be able to accept payments on the road or away from a traditional credit card terminal, mobile card processing may be the right option for you.

To start using your iPhone or Android as a credit card processor, you simply need to sign up for a service, such as a Square or GoPayment. (These are the two most popular providers.) With Square, you will need to submit to and pass a credit check before you can be approved for an account.

After you apply for an account, you will be mailed a small device called a dongle. The dongle hooks into the headphone jack of your iPhone or Android and is where you will swipe your customers’ cards.
