(Lincoln) -- A Lincoln man will spend nearly 16 years in federal prison on child pornography charges.
Forty-one-year-old Ronald Barnes was sentenced this week in federal court to 15 years and nine months after entering a guilty plea on charges of possessing and receiving child porn.
Barnes was arrested in January after an investigation by agents with the Illinois Attorney General's Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Law enforcement officials identified Barnes' Internet address after he offered to participate in the distribution of child pornography via a peer-to-peer network in November of last year.
A subsequent search of Barnes' Lincoln residence turned up incriminating files stored on his computer, and child pornography DVDs.
The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide federal initiative.

The incident starts when police stopped a car and were trying to put the suspect in handcuffs.
But the suspect managed to get back in his car and sped away.
His car smashes into a squad car but the driver doesn't stop.
Dash cam shows the pursuit continuing into Kansas City, Kan., before ending in a crash.
No one was hurt during the chase or crash.

Steven Ertelt of LifeNews.com reported on Friday that a pro-life activist was assaulted on October 15 by a supporter of abortion in front of the Planned Parenthood in Fresno, California, during a vigil for the nationwide 40 Days for Life campaign. Ertelt also noted that local TV news outlets ignored the story of the assault in their evening broadcasts, brushing it aside either because the victims injury wasn’t serious enough, or because they thought a story on “chocolate-covered bacon” was more important.
Victor Fierro, director of Latinos4Life, a pro-life organization, was physically attacked by a “pro-choice woman,” according to the press release by Right to Life of Central California (RLCC), which was also cited in the LifeNews.com report. The woman “shouted obscenities” at the pro-life demonstrators participating in the 40 Days for Life vigil in front of the Planned Parenthood facility, “before attempting to break the event security camera and assaulting...Fierro....The attacker cut Fierro’s arm with an unknown object, drawing blood, and then stormed back to her car and fled the scene.” The entire incident was captured by the video camera, though most of the assault occurred outside of its field of vision. However, the camera did capture her face and her car’s tag number.

Four Arrested in Radio Shack Robbery

Authorities have caught up with all four of the suspects who tried to get away with stealing cell phones from a Radio Shack.

Live Oak Police say Verna Burch and Susan Loges managed to get away after the store robbery Tuesday, but they were later arrested at a local trailer park.

Officers say the two were with Telly Sealey and Diamond Burch when the group stole cell phones from the Radio Shack on Pinewood Drive in Live Oak.

Sealey and Burch were arrested in Columbia County that day after leading authorities on a high-speed chase.

All four suspects are charged with robbery.

Raw video:September 24/09.Chicago.This is the hard lesson some students at Fenger High School have to deal with after a day of learning. For them it's a hard lesson of reality on the streets.
Thursday after school, two rival gangs got into a fight three blocks from the high school.
In all four students were beaten in that melee -- one was released from the hospital Friday morning.
While police continue their investigation, some students say they don't want to go back to Fenger next week.
Rival gang members have been fighting for a month -- and each time one of their fellow classmates is injured.
No knives and no guns were used in Thursday's fight. Just fists, feet and boards.
Derrion Albert, 16, was struck in the head by one of those boards.
Seconds later the honor student hit the pavement. That’s when witnesses, who are other high school students, say gangbangers began stomping on and punching Albert.
Derrion Albert's mom said witnesses told her he was "trying to help another student and kind of got mixed in with the crowd of the fight and he was hit.”
A senior who witnessed the whole thing says the melee lasted less than five minutes.
The video shows students and workers from a nearby community center rescue the boy -- but many out there knew it was too late.
Surveillance videos are mounted on businesses in the Roseland area, but Chicago Police say those don't show faces.
Police have a copy of this footage and it may help identify Albert's killers.
But while that investigation goes on, students say they will remember Derrion Albert as a good kid. A quiet, smart kid with no gang affiliation. But just a kid who may not have had enough street smarts to go another way.

DREXEL HILL, Pa. - Two men are almost a $100,000 richer after stealing an ATM from a local hospital.
The brazen heist happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Upper Darby, police said.
"This was a sophisticated, well-planned, well thought-out heist," Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said.
Armed with a clipboard and dolly, the men meandered their way to the ATM in the hospital's cafe area, police said. In less than two minutes, they cut the machine's wires, threw it onto a dolly and were off to the parking garage elevators. After loading the machine into their white van and paying for parking, the men were free and clear.
The van was found Tuesday by Philadelphia Police in Southwest Philadelphia. It was torched with the empty ATM inside, police said.
The ATM was not bolted to the wall, but did have an alarm. The suspects were able to bypass it by tripping the machine's power failure safety feature first, Chitwood said. An hour later the bank came to fix the power failure and found the machine was gone.
Upper Darby Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the men. Anyone with information is asked to call 610.892
