This was my first exposure to Jack McDevitt -- I'm glad I got this as a library book instead of purchasing. I was disappointed after all of the hype I had read and heard about this series. It caused no excitement and took me over three weeks to read. It's not that long of a book, and I'm not that slow of a reader.

I got so wrapped up in this book that I nearly missed my subway stop on the way to work this morning ... after staying up late trying to finish it.

It's a fun romp through NYC (why do they have all the fun?) and I can't wait for the next book in the series. Definite brain candy that the zombies will appreciate.

No wonder Americans had devolved into such a petty, sarcastic lot. They no longer had to look each other in the eye.

I don't know much about Taft's presidency, but this book comes at a great time in our history. Can you imagine it? A Republican with Progressive values? My, how the party has changed.

This version included a sneak peek at the next novel which seems way more interesting than the short story it's attached to.
