Here we go! Welcome to my new blog, which will chronicle my journey to a healthier, skinner me.

I’ve postponed launching this site since announcing it’s arrival because I wanted there to be fireworks. I wanted a spectacular, life changing launch.

But I’ve realized that the reality of success isn’t as earth shattering. Success is a product of integrating small, do-able steps which after a while create big changes.

So instead of waiting for the perfect time, where I will do every healthy thing possible all at once, I am taking a different approach. I’m setting myself up to succeed, instead of fail.

I’m picking one healthy habit a week to integrate in my life.

One thing seems like not enough, at first. One thing seems too easy, or uninteresting. My nature is to do all or nothing and to take on an extreme life change in one leap. But history proves that this philosophy doesn’t work. Whatever I have done in the past hasn’t worked, so it’s time to take on a new approach: taking things slow.

Over time, I plan to build on each step. Each week I will focus on one healthy life change to integrate in my life, every day for the week. Each Sunday, I will pick a new small step, to add to the previous week’s challenge.

I’m going to make the rules up as I go along, so bear with me. If I am struggling with a certain week’s healthy step, then I’ll continue with it until it becomes easier.

I will reflect each week on what helped me be successful or what has caused failure. My plan it to integrate healthy life changes that will become habit the rest of my life.

This isn’t about dieting, or doing a temporary fix. My plan is to integrate small, tiny changes in a way to capitalize on successes, instead of letting my perfectionist tendencies focus on failure.

For week one, I’m picking something that I know I can succeed with. It’s a very important aspect to healthy living, and something that I trained myself to do a few years ago. With a little conscious effort, I am sure that week one’s step will be a success…. so it is:

Week #1: Drink at least 2 liters of water a day.

Next Sunday, I will wrap up my previous week as well as pick a new, small step to add for the coming week. I’m excited to integrate healthy behaviors into my life slowly, in a way that encourages success instead of failure. Every week goes by anyway, so I might as well make an effort to live it a little healthier.

What small step could you take this next week to be just a little healthier that the one before?
