We were so excited by this interactive solution completely engineered and developed by our team at K&amp;D that we decided to make the Station the star of our booth at the recent 2013 Georgia Credit Union Affiliates Annual Convention in Savannah, GA.</p>
<p>The convention was well attended and much of our booth traffic stopped to engage with the screen. The creative design of the content employed by Meritrust and designed by K&amp;D, is truly head turning and show stopping.</p>

The theme of “Lending a Helping Hand” rang true and home for a lot of the attendees and served as a great reminder of the true Credit Union mission of believing in members.</p>
<p>A highlight of the general session was an introduction to the amazing mission of Purple Heart Homes (PHH). PHH is dedicated to providing personalized housing solutions for Service Connected Disabled Veterans and their families that are substantial in function, design and quality—homes that are fit to welcome home, and thank, the fighting men and women of America. Each case is different, but in all cases Purple Heart Homes provides at little or no cost to the veteran a “quality of life solution” that creates an injury specific, barrier free-living environment. These solutions can range from remodeling an existing home already owned by the veteran, to creating an entire living space from the ground up.</p>
<p>Additionally, our good client, Peach State Federal Credit Union, is a big supporter of PHH and works hard to ensure that returning vets to the Atlanta area can secure a mortgage without penalties associated with credit issues.</p>
<p>K&amp;D was motivated by the goals behind PHH to make a monetary donation of support on behalf of K&amp;D clients nationwide.</p>

Plus, the coveted millennials really gravitate to brands that bring conversations to life. Or bigger than life.</p>
<p>Speaking of bigger, check out this image from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The NFL KC Chiefs know how to do social media in a unique and engaging way… they put up selected tweets on their big video screen known as Arrowvision. Fans can get their tweets up on the big board and they love crafting creative messages to try and get them selected to be “in lights”.</p>
<p>On a more normal 1:1 scale, the same incentive exists for the folks who come into your branches. They too, enjoy their fleeting moments of fame when they can get one of their posts in lights.</p>

If so, you wouldn’t be alone as about 85% of screens get mounted that way. But if you’ve followed this blog over the years, you know that our designers at Kiosk &amp; Display don’t think that way. We’re huge believers in creating branded environments and “surrounds” that add interest, messaging, branding and holistic integration into the installation. A seamless and robust display creates infinite more engagement possibilities with the viewer.</p>
<p>The marketing folks that promote Johnnie Walker scotch whiskey must feel the same way. Look closely at the image with this post to see the very creative way they have integrated their digital signage into free-standing displays that are designed to look like suitcases or trunks. Upon closer examination, you will see that the purpose of their promotion is to highlight the “Explorer’s Club Collection” and is being marketed as “new and exclusive to travelers”. Travelers… suitcases… get it?</p>
<p>This demonstrates clever thinking outside the box, or in this case the suitcase, and is really attention getting. Add interesting messages on the screen and you’ve got an engaging experience that goes way beyond traditional applications.</p>
<p>Do you think beyond traditional installations? At Kiosk &amp; Display, we do. And we haven’t even touched the Johnnie Walker. Yet.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>All work and no play makes your Kiosk &amp; Display team scramble to find time to celebrate the holidays. We finally did, albeit a little belated. But good things come to those who wait and our company holiday dinner party, held January 27<sup>th</sup>, was definitely worth waiting for.</p>
<p>At K&amp;D we’re all about engagement and creating unique experiences and our fearless leader, Jon VanderMeer, applied that same cultural philosophy to the celebration. We gathered at the home of an Atlanta culinary and arts professional, Chef Hopeton Hibbert, for an exciting and original evening of fun, laughter and a unique meal prepared right in front of us.</p>
<p>It wasn’t just any meal as Jon solicited our favorite dishes prior to the evening. Chef Hibbert then blended his own interpretation, experience and secret recipes into artful and tasteful treats for the entire gang. Check out the photo of the menu board for specifics. Each plate was paired with unique alcohol concoctions to ensure smooth consumption. And our ever-prudent leader made sure we had safe transportation home in order to enjoy the libations.</p>
<p>Presents were exchanged. We got to know our compatriots’ spouses and we learned about each other’s peccadillos when it comes to food that pushes normal boundaries. How could you not enjoy an evening like this?</p>
<p>Before we know it, we’ll be celebrating another year and another holiday season. And we’ll probably do it after the hubbub of the actual season. But that’s okay because we’ll be anxiously waiting to see how Jon tops this year.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://gettingyourmessage.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Windows8.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-1933" alt="Windows 8 Tablet" src="http://gettingyourmessage.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Windows8-300x203.jpg" width="300" height="203" /></a>These days it seems like one can’t turn the corner without seeing a new tablet or touch screen PC hitting the shelves.  With the release of Windows 8, Microsoft has added some new contenders to the already saturated market. Is there room for another breed of tablet computers? For the world of digital signage, it looks like a space may finally be filled.</p>
<p>What distinguishes Microsoft’s Windows 8 from other operating systems like Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android is that Windows 8 is designed to be run like a traditional desktop. Windows 8 combines the power and freedom of standalone computers, but with the sleekness and mobility of a tablet. With access to an opened file system and the ability to install Windows programs, current digital signage software can run on the platform. Anything that can run on Windows 8 can theoretically run on the tablet counterpart.</p>
<p>There are caveats of course. As with any new platform, a plethora of testing must be done. In addition, Windows RT is being run on  portion of tablets as well. Windows RT is Windows 8 without the desktop portion, thus without the flexibility or power. This exists on more budget minded models, and will be a locked system much like the competitors.</p>
<p>The important thing to take away from the emergence of this new platform is the future possibilities that can arise. IBM and Samsung are releasing updated Tablets with full access to Windows 8, and many other companies will soon follow suite. In such a completive market, it is an exciting time to look towards the future of tablet computing.</p>
