Here's the sign-up sheet for the April 3rd Golf Tourney at Vista Verde Golf Course folks. Remember, proceeds from the event benefit the 100 Club of Arizona. Fun, friends, food... print the sign-up sheet and drop it off at Greasewood Flat before March 31st and you're in! 2010 GFVFD Golf Tournament

Why: Proceeds benefit the 100 Club of Arizona and it's a helluva lot of fun

Where: Vista Verde Golf Course

When: Saturday, April 3rd

Tee Time: 9:00 a.m. shotgun start

Cost: $100 per player (includes cart & greens fees, meal ticket for a Reata Pass chicken, steak or salad meal & a goody bag sure to have excellent stuff in it)...and it's tax deductible!

Is there more?: Why, yes there is! Following the golf tournament is not only the free luncheon but also a raffle and auction. Remember, all proceeds benefit the 100 Club of Arizona, so be sure to stick around.

What is the 100 Club of Arizona?: The 100 Club of Arizona raises funds to assist our firefighters and public safety officers... who better for the Greasewood Volunteer Fire Department to support. You can check out all the good they do on their website: http://www.100club.org/

Is there anything else?: Believe it or not, there is. You should know sponsorships are still available. Your company can sponsor a hole for $100. We'll post your logo, or whatever you would like to represent your sponsorship on a golf ball sign at one of our holes.

This sounds great...how do I sign up?: We've got three folks who can sign you up - phone numbers below. However, the best way is to come on down to Greasewood Flat and sign up in person along with a beer and some grub!

Cave Creek Fiesta Days Parade

...are here again! The Cave Creek Fiesta Days Parade is taking place Saturday, April 10th and the GFVFD will be proudly marching again this year. If you want to take part in the decorating festivities (date is still TBD) be sure to give our Chief a call or stop by and see him at Greasewood Flat. Anyone on the committee gets an automatic place on the float. Anyone else who wants to be on one of the floats be sure to check in with Chief Paul because spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. Horseriders who want to participate should be in touch with our Chief as well so he can put you on the list.

Be sure to mark the date on your calendar - we're sure a good time will be had by all!

Holiday Success Story

Thank you to all who participated in our Holiday Toy and Food drives. The food drive went really well and we received a warm thank you from The Fountain Hills Chapter of St. Vincent de Paul for our contribution. We were able to donate $350 to Toys for Tots for holiday toys and Target donated 3 to 1, which we're sure helped put a smile on some tot's faces.

Holiday Cocktail Party

Join us Tuesday, December 22nd at Pane E Vino Ristorante at Pinnacle Peak and Pima for our Holiday Cocktail Party. We'll start at 5:00 pm and go until....well, until we're done celebrating! There will be complimentary nibbles provided by the GFVFD and although drinks are on your own, Pane E Vino is offering happy hour prices all night to those attending. Feel free to bring friends and family. We hope to see you there!

Toy Drive

'Tis the season and the GFVFD Toy Drive is ON! We're collecting new, unwrapped toys (in their original packaging) until December 23rd when all the stuffed animals, video games and toy trains we hope to collect will be donated to the Toys for Tots local chapter. Collection bins are set up at the main bars of both Reata Pass and Greasewood Flat. Toys for Tots will distribute all we're able to gather as Christmas gifts for needy children, so please help us fill those empty bins and remind us all that this is still the season of giving.

Food Drive

To continue the theme of giving we also have food collection bins right next to the toy bins at both Reata Pass and Greasewood Flat. We appreciate any donation you can make of canned or boxed foods before December 23rd. All donations will be provided to the Fountain Hills Chapter of St. Vincent de Paul who will help turn those cans and boxes into holiday meals for those less fortunate. Let's ensure those tots and their folks can keep smiling even after they open their gifts!

We're already looking ahead to 2010 and starting to organize our annual Golf Tournament - maybe you'll take that new set of clubs you got for the holidays and come on out and tear up the course with them! The GFVFD is about fun and giving, so we'll also have our raffle and auction. All proceeds not used for tournament and lunch costs will go the 100 Club of Arizona who raises funds to assist our firefighters and public safety officers.

We'll be sure to post the details as we put things in place, but this is a quick shout out to start you thinking about anything you might be able to donate as a raffle or auction prize. Raffle prizes are nice, small enjoyable items such as a gift card or small household item, while auction items are a little more coveted. Please start thinking about it and if you have something to donate you can call either Paul, our Chief, or Joe, our Golf Tournament Chairman and let them know!

A Good Time Had By All at the Fall Horseshoe Tourney '09!

It's been about a month but the memories still linger from this year's GFVFD Horseshoe Tournament. Amid the dust and the beers we saw some great pitching and an impressive amount of ringers.

A hearty congratulations to the winners, Brad and Rex. Our First Place winners enjoyed $200 in prize winnings and a stunning pair of Mozkito Sandals each.

Second Place winners, Elgin and Elgin, received $140. No sandals for them.

Our Third Place winners, Hard Knox, received $60.

Fireman's Ball Canceled

Were sorry everyone but the Fireman's Ball this Saturday has been canceled. Times are tough and we just could not get enough people to come. We understand and are proud to say that membership has reached the 200+ range. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Fall Horseshoe Tourney '09!!!!

Hello all you brave volunteers! It's that time of year when we dust off our tossing arms and gear up for some (mostly) friendly competition. Do you have what it takes to be the GFVFD horseshoe throwing champion? If so, copy down this information you beer drinking, whiskey bottle throwing son of a gun!!!

Where: Greasewood Flat
When: Saturday, October 17 (Trials) --- Sunday, October 18 (Finals)
Entrance Fee: $40.00 (Note: this includes a shirt, burger, and doorprizes)

This year we're hitting the links on Thursday, May 7th at Vista Verde Golf Club. Tee time is at 7:30 and plenty of Bloody Marys will be available to get your creative golfing juices flowing.

The event will be a four person scramble, and you can sign up as an individual golfer or partial or full team. $80 per player (before May 6) covers golf, cart, range balls, prizes, snacks on the course, and lunch at Reata Pass following golf. Day of registration available for $85. Net proceeds benefit the 100 Club of Arizona.
