Nadia Ntanu, Miss Ghana 2012 first runner up was recently in India, for a two-week working visit.

Miss Ntanu left in the company of officials from IPMC to attend a conference by Indiasoft, a leading Indian software company. She also toured some historical sites.

In a related development, audition forms for Miss Ghana 2013 is selling for 50 cedis, at Fidelity Bank branches nationwide.

The organizers have said only one national auditions will hold in Accra from May 30 to June 1, at the Travel Express Hotel, near Gulf House, adjacent the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange.

Wizkid Promises An Exciting Performance At ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ On June 29

African’s biggest act now and Nigeria’s star boy, Wizkid has promised Ghanaians and several other nationals who will make their way to the Conference Centre in Accra for the third edition of the annual ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ musical concert slated for June 29 an exciting performance.

Speaking at the official launch of the event which seeks to foster friendship between the two West African giants music-wise, Wizkid born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun said over the past few years he had longed to perform on the show but due to his busy schedules he had to once opt out.

He said he has always been in talks with Bola Ray, the brain behind the concert and the CEO of Empire Entertainment, about performing at the show but other engagements had made it impossible for him. He said he was excited and happy that finally he will get the opportunity to “help his compatriots to record their first victory against their Ghanaians counterparts” come Saturday June 29.

Unlike what was seen from him at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards where he performed only two songs which didn’t go down well with his fans, at the ‘Ghana Meets Naija’, Wizkid who was a co-winner of BET’s Best Africa Act 2012 award will headline the concert. This means he will have more than enough time to perform all his hits songs including his smash hit ‘Back to the Matter’ which is currently getting serious rotation on radio in Ghana.

GhanaCelebrities.Com observed from his countenance that, he was ready to represent his country to the fullest as they seek to avenge the defeats his compatriots recorded in the two previous editions in 2011 and in 2012. He also appreciated and thanked his fans in Ghana.

Wizkid will not do the job alone; he will be supported by the new sensation Burna Boy and Afro-Pop/Afro-Beat superstar, Timaya.

Representing the home nation with the red, yellow, green with the black star would be African Dance Hall sensation Samini who will be gracing the stage with Wizkid to perform their hit ‘Time Bomb’.

Call him the Best Rapper Alive, Okyeame Kwame will also represent live to dish out fine tunes coupled with decent lyrics such as ‘Woara’, ‘Faithful’ and a couple of hits from his rich repertoire.

Ghana’s newly crown Artiste of the Year; R2Bees will be looking at impressing the large patrons expected at the event. Their stage performance has always been subjected to strong criticism due to their lack of coordination but the onus lies with them to disabuse the minds of their critics and explain why they won the biggest award at the VGMA.(...)

The scientists are back and this time, they say, pretty women are more fertile and less stressed.

Is this why they seem to have a high market price when it comes to the dating game even though some of their attitudes stink?

I guess apart from enjoying the beauty of a pretty woman, you are less likely to be stressed by her—that is if she is not stressed, she won’t push you into it too.

The finding says beauty isn’t just skin deep!

Attractive women are more than just a pretty face – they also have less of the hormone cortisol, which is associated with stress, a study shows.

Researchers point out that stress can also adversely effect fertility, and suggest one explanation may be that ‘facial attractiveness signals reproductive potential’.

Attractive women also carry just the right amount of fat in their bodies – not too much and not too little, according to the research.

But, contrary to recent research in men, a strong immune system may not be associated with being beautiful.

A study of Latvian women found links between facial attractiveness and their amount of cortisol and fat, but not responsiveness to infection.

Sometimes described as our ‘life-sustaining hormone’, cortisol is produced in the adrenal glands and is responsible for metabolism, energy levels, blood pressure and combating illness.

It is especially important at times when the body experiences intense stress such as surgery, trauma or serious infection.

To test the immunity of good looking women, researchers photographed a selection of participants, vaccinated them against hepatitis B and measured the amount of antibodies produced.

Surprisingly, immune function did not predict facial attractiveness. Instead, those with lower cortisol levels in the blood tended to be more beautiful, suggesting stressed women are plainer.

Also having high or low amounts of fat reduced allure, showing being too slim can be as big a turn off as carrying to many pounds.

Dr Markus Rantala, whose findings are published in the Royal Society journal Biology Letters, said: ‘Interestingly, facial attractiveness correlated negatively with plasma cortisol level suggesting stress reduces attractiveness in women.

‘This supports previous findings from male faces, which show cortisol is inversely related to facial attractiveness.

‘This has been interpreted as a mediator of condition dependent cues in the face (e.g. to health) or as a signal of the ability to cope with stressors.

‘Perhaps, then, low levels of cortisol also signal health in female faces. This would be consistent with many studies in humans that have found stress has strong negative effect on health, including immune function, heart disease and susceptibility to cancer, etc.

‘An alternative explanation is facial attractiveness signals reproductive potential, which is mediated partly by stress hormones, because many studies have demonstrated stress disturbs fertility.’

For decades, scientists believed when men gaze at women they are merely using facial clues such as large eyes, a small nose and full lips to check their prospective mate has high ‘fitness’ and can efficiently pass their genes to the next generation.

But research is beginning to uncover that beauty really is not just skin deep and is connected to reproductive health and fertility.

Earlier, the same team found men who were best at producing antibodies in response to a hepatitus B jab were considered better looking by women.

In the latest study Dr Rantala, of the University of Turku, Finland, and colleagues photographed 52 young women with an average age of 20 and asked 18 heterosexual male undergraduates to rate their attractiveness.

Dr Rantala said: ‘In contrast to findings in men, we found women’s immune response is not associated with their facial attractiveness.’

But because the system is so complex it would be premature to say a pretty face does not signal a strong immune defence in women, because there may be different trade offs in components going on.

Dr Rantala said: ‘It is possible facial attractiveness signals a different arm of the immune defence in women than men. This remains to be tested in future studies.’

He added: ‘Our study suggests facial attractiveness in women does not indicate immune responsiveness against hepatitis B but is associated with two other aspects of long term health and fertility, circulating levels of the stress hormone cortisol and percentage body fat.’

Ironically, a study by Spanish researchers published three years ago found being in the company of a beautiful woman can be bad for men’s health – by increasing their cortisol.

just five minutes alone with her raised amounts of the hormone, too much of which can cause heart disease. The effect was worst in those who believed she was ‘out of their league’.

Last night (for the second time), Captain Planet from the musical group-4×4, Fred Nuamah and ‘myself’ joined Hollywood actress-Zoe Saldana, Takao Osawa, Nanako Matsushima, Tatsuya Fujiwara, Rasaroi Dawson, Clive Owen, Marion Cotillard and other celebrities for the red carpet premiere of the movies- Blood Ties and Shield of Straw…

Shield of Straw is set in a small Japanese town where a 7-year-old girl is found dead after being raped; DNA evidence fingers a suspect for a previous, similar crime still at large: Kiyomaru (Tatsuya Fujiwara).

His name and photo are released to the media and a manhunt begins. But then this little girl’s wealthy grandfather Ninagawa (Tsutomo Yamazaki) offers a billion-yen reward for killing the man.

Terrified, the culprit actually hands himself over to the police who must protect someone who sickens them, and transport him to Tokyo for trial through a country now swarming with hostile vigilantes: cops, gangsters, and ordinary people with kitchen knives. Everyone is crazy for the cash offer, and this grandfather is actually paying out smaller sums to people who’ve just attempted to kill Kiyomaru.

People who are too much in love often feel overly responsible for their partner’s wounds and moods, thinking that they in some way caused them. In their eyes, they must have done something wrong to cause them to slip into silence. This therefore burdens them to bring this partner back into a good mood.

Looking Up to Your Partner and Looking Down on Yourself

Many people in love put their partners first especially women because of a collective legacy of feminine degradation. After all, the sun shines brightest and the moon only glows because of the sun. This conditioned belief is difficult to shake even for the most liberated and accomplished woman, this is a reality which only few women have been able to shake it to off.

If you are the type who put your partner on a high mountain, thinking he/she is more intelligent, capable and ultimately more important, all that admiration will make you look pathetic. Your adoration will likely only fuel an already too big ego and does little to elevate your self-worth.

Abandoning Your Friends and families to Spend Every Waking Minute with Him/Her,

The worst thing a person can do is to deny themselves time with their friends and family, thinking their partner will miss them, can’t fend for themselves or that their partner will meet with disapproval if they spend time away from them.

If you are the type to only contact friends and family only when your mate isn’t home or hang up the phone abruptly when they come through the door, you are killing your self esteem. A person’s friendships outside of her relationship feed and reward her. And in times when things aren’t running smoothly in the relationship, good friends and family offer support and advice.

Your Goals Don’t Matter As Much as His/Hers

Abandoning your goals whether a career choice, an educational opportunity or a spiritual journey because you believe your partner’s goals will serve you more in the end, will derail your hopes for personal fulfilment. Killing your goals to encourage your partner’s goals is because you believe he/she deserves success more than you or because deep inside you don’t believe in yourself. If you put your personal goals on the backburner too long, your dreams will simmer away.
