Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington has expressed shock after allegedly being charged ₦203,500 for parking his vehicle at an airport for four days.

In a video shared online, the musician recounted how he chose to drive to the airport instead of using a taxi, believing it would be a more convenient option for his short trip.

However, upon returning from his four-day journey, he said he was stunned by the amount he was required to pay for parking.

The visibly frustrated entertainer complained about the rising cost of living in Nigeria, describing the parking fee as excessive.

He compared the charges to what might be expected in some European countries and questioned why such costs were being imposed locally.

The rapper said …

“E no go better for Tinubu. Unexpected expense. E pain me die. I don tire to pay for taxi to airport, I say make I carry my motor come airport. Pata pata I’m traveling for 4 days, when I come back it’d either 70k or 50k. They just collected N203,500 from me for parking for 4 days bro. E no go b£tt£er for Tinubu. Nigeria is now very expensive. They took my food money from me. E shock me I stand there, stand there I no know wetin I wan do. Nigeria is h£ll f!r£. 50k a night, are we in Europe?”

TikTok has removed more than four million videos and disrupted over 86,000 LIVE sessions in Nigeria as part of its latest content moderation enforcement efforts, according to its Q4 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report.

The platform disclosed that a total of 4.02 million videos originating from Nigeria were taken down for violating its community rules during the period under review.

It also revealed that over 86,000 LIVE sessions were interrupted for breaching platform policies, reflecting increased enforcement across real-time streaming activities.

TikTok noted that 99.9 percent of violative content was detected and removed proactively before users reported it, while a significant portion was taken down within 24 hours of posting.

The platform explained that its moderation system combines automated detection tools with human review teams to identify harmful, misleading, and policy-violating content at scale.

Globally, TikTok removed over 175 million videos within the same quarter, reinforcing its ongoing investment in digital safety and content regulation across markets.

The Nigeria-specific figures form part of TikTok’s broader transparency reporting aimed at improving platform integrity and user safety.

Shante, who bought the goods from the couple’s platform, told TUKO.co.ke that since April, she has yet to get her orders.

“I ordered three perfumes and some kitchen items, but since April, my order has been reading ‘waiting for dispatch’ and that it will arrive in five weeks. I have tried calling the line on their website, but it is also not going through. I tried asking for my refund from the website, but it only issues refunds to goods that have been ordered, meaning we who ordered will just have to wait for the orders, if they will ever arrive,” she said.

Milly, who was responding to another concerned client, noted that there were things that were beyond her and wondered if she should get a faster delivery system.

“We have been really thinking of how we can speed up the goods getting here. There are so many things that are out of our control. We are not able to control how fast they can get here. Especially because anything can come up. But one thing is for sure, your items are going to get here. We were trying to think, should we add something like express at the cost of faster shipping?” she said.

A former Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Karaga in the Northern Region, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has questioned the credibility of the Bank of Ghana’s denial of a media report that suggested a proposal and a discussion on whether or not to sell the newly built headquarters of the bank located at Ridge in Accra.

According to Dr Amin Adam, this was not the first time this issue has come up, and that, it was the current Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, who first made a similar suggestion in March 2025 while explaining the 2025 Budget in a television interview with Joy News [Watch attached video below with Joy News]

In a statement signed by Dr Adam, who is also the Co-Chair of the NPP’s Finance and Economic Policy Committee, he called on the government to formally and permanently abandon any plan to sell the BoG headquarters, arguing that comments previously made by Dr Ato Forson make the central bank’s denial of such a proposal difficult to accept.

To him, he and the opposition New Patriotic Party acknowledge the Bank of Ghana’s statement of June 2, 2026, which described the media report by Myjoyonline as “false and misleading.”

Nevertheless, the NPP maintains that the idea of selling the building did not originate from the media.

He said Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, during an appearance on JoyNews’ PM Express programme on March 11, 2025, shortly after presenting the 2025 Budget, rejected the use of taxpayer funds to recapitalise the Bank of Ghana and suggested that the institution should “look within” for solutions.

According to the NPP, Dr Forson specifically referred to the bank’s new headquarters and stated that the central bank had “a choice to sell and lease back”. He said those remarks were made publicly and formed the basis of concerns about a possible sale-and-leaseback arrangement.

The statement said the detailed nature of the media report, which referred to a sale-and-leaseback structure, a valuation of about US$260 million and differing views within the Bank’s board, suggested that the information came from sources close to the matter.

It added that the speed of the Bank’s denial appeared to reflect public reaction to the report rather than a genuine change in position.

The NPP argued that selling and leasing back the headquarters would not amount to recapitalisation. Instead, it said, the arrangement would amount to borrowing against a national asset while creating a long-term rental obligation.

The party contended that such a transaction would exchange a permanent asset owned by the people of Ghana for a one-time payment, while leaving unresolved the losses at the centre of the Bank’s financial difficulties.

The statement further argued that the financial benefits of any such arrangement would largely favour the buyer.

It is estimated that at a prime rental rate in Accra of about US$35 per square metre per month, the 150,000-square-metre complex could generate gross rental income of about US$63 million annually.

Based on a sale price of about US$260 million, the NPP said the transaction could yield a return of about 24 per cent for a buyer and allow the investment to be recovered in less than 4.1 years.

The party also argued that any buyer would likely require a lease agreement of at least 25 years, with the Bank guaranteeing full occupancy and carrying most of the associated risks. It said annual rent increases linked to inflation and lease reviews would further increase the cost to the central bank.

According to the NPP, after transaction-related costs, the Bank would receive only about US$230 million from a sale price it described as already undervalued.

The statement also questioned the accounting basis for such an arrangement. It said that under International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) 16 and Financial Reporting Standard (FRS) 102, the leaseback would place a substantial liability on the Bank’s balance sheet while removing an asset that could appreciate over time.

The NPP further raised concerns about a possible conflict of interest, noting that the Bank of Ghana regulates many of the institutions that could potentially purchase or finance the building.

The party said this could result in a situation where a financial institution supervised by the central bank becomes its landlord.

The NPP called on the government to publish a detailed recapitalisation plan for the Bank of Ghana, including the amounts involved, the financial instruments to be used and the sources of funding.

It also urged the government to stop what it described as practices that were worsening the Bank’s financial position, citing losses it claimed were being transferred to the central bank through entities such as GoldBod.

The statement described Bank Square as a national asset belonging to the people of Ghana and argued that it should not be sold to address financial challenges which, in the party’s view, could have been avoided through prudent policy decisions.

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating export-led growth under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework with the introduction of a $1 billion AfCFTA Adjustment Fund Credit Facility designed to enhance production capacity, improve competitiveness, and expand intra-African trade.

Speaking at the 2nd Quarter 2026 meeting of the AfCFTA Central Coordination Committee held on Tuesday in Abuja, Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, said the financing window represents a major opportunity for Nigerian businesses seeking to scale operations and access wider African markets.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Obilor -Duru Augustina Okechi, Head Press & PR, FMITI.

She explained that while Nigeria has made significant progress in implementing AfCFTA protocols, many businesses continue to face challenges, including export documentation, certification requirements, standards compliance, and market access barriers.

According to her, the Federal Government is addressing these constraints through enhanced trade facilitation measures, simplified AfCFTA guidance tools, strengthened stakeholder engagement programmes, and closer collaboration with agencies such as the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.

The Minister also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s legal and regulatory framework through the domestication of key AfCFTA protocols, particularly the Digital Trade Protocol, aimed at positioning the country as a major player in Africa’s emerging digital economy.

She further noted recent achievements, including the expansion of Nigeria’s Air Cargo Corridor Initiative to Rwanda, increased partnerships with development institutions and the private sector, and nationwide sensitisation programmes designed to deepen awareness of AfCFTA opportunities.

In her remarks, Patience Okala, National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria AfCFTA Coordination Office, congratulated the Minister on her recent appointment as Chairperson of the AfCFTA Council of Ministers, describing it as recognition of Nigeria’s growing leadership role in continental trade integration.

Okala disclosed that recent sensitisation engagements in Kano attracted more than 470 businesses, with strong participation from women-led enterprises. She also highlighted the newly introduced AfCFTA ABC Series, which is helping businesses better understand export processes and leverage continental trade opportunities.

Providing details of the financing facility, she explained that the $1 billion AfCFTA Adjustment Fund Credit Facility is targeted at large African businesses with a minimum financing threshold of $10 million. The fund will support business expansion, industrialisation, working capital needs, project development, and regional value chain integration.

She added that the AfCFTA Coordination Office is working with fund managers to ensure qualified Nigerian companies can access the facility, including the formation of a pilot group of beneficiaries to maximise participation.

Also speaking at the meeting, Njoku, Deputy Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), reiterated that registration with the Council remains mandatory for all exporters. He noted that the process has been fully digitised, allowing seamless online registration nationwide, with exporters receiving certificates valid for two years.

‎‎According to him, successful applicants receive an Exporter’s Certificate valid for two years, granting access to incentives such as the Export Expansion Grant (EEG) and the Export Development Fund (EDF).

‎
“‎The meeting ended with renewed commitments from stakeholders to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, expand opportunities for women and youth entrepreneurs, increase utilization of AfCFTA market access provisions, and deepen Nigeria’s participation in regional and continental value chains.
‎
“‎Participants also reaffirmed their support for Nigeria’s preparations for key continental engagements scheduled for June and July 2026, with a shared objective of increasing exports, attracting investment, driving industrial growth, and creating jobs,” the statement added
