Samsung Galaxy S IV was launched recently by huge pomp and show by Samsung.Mobile communication is taking a transition where innovation is backed by more processing power in terms of speed and better graphics and better display by offering new products and services. Mobile handset makers are delivering the unique selling proposition to the customers to stand out from others.

Samsung has launched it new flagship device which is certainly market leader in terms of processing speed and display and all in all ahead of its competitors Apple and Htc whose flagship devices are Iphone 5 and Htc One are fighting for the top spot in the market.These companies certainly are setting standards but are they are lacking innovation which was spurred by Apple in the past.They are merely increasing their screen size and processor speed. Is this innovation or giving some bloatware is innovation which offers so called features is a big question to think upon.Indian market consumers are all price tag conscious and believe in value for money buying.The rates these flagship are too high that common people can think of buying.I guess that's why they are called flagships.

World biggest DDoS attack that almost broke Internet

The last week has seen probably the largest distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack ever. A massive 300Gbps was thrown against Internet blacklist maintainer Spamhaus' website but the anti-spam organisation , CloudFlare was able to recover from the attack and get its core services back up and running.

Spamhaus, a group based in both London and Geneva, is a non-profit organisation that aims to help email providers filter out spam and other unwanted content. Spamhaus is pretty resilient, as its own network is distributed across many countries, but the attack was still enough to knock its site offline on March 18.

Five national cyber-police-forces are investigating the attacks. A group calling itself STOPhaus, an alliance of hactivists and cyber criminals is believed to responsible for bombarding Spamhaus with up to 300Gbps.

The attacks on Spamhaus illustrate a larger problem with the vulnerability of systems fundamental to the architecture of the Internet, the Domain Name Servers (DNS). The high attack bandwidth is made possible because attackers are using misconfigured domain-name service (DNS) servers known as open recursive resolvers or open recursors to amplify a much smaller attack into a larger data flood.

Known as DNS reflection, the technique uses requests for a relatively large zone file that appear to be sent from the intended victim's network. According to CloudFlare, it initially recorded over 30,000 DNS resolvers that were tricked into participating in the attack. There are as many as 25 million of these open recursive resolvers at the disposal of attackers

"In the Spamhaus case, the attacker was sending requests for the DNS zone file for ripe.net to open DNS resolvers. The attacker spoofed the CloudFlare IPs we'd issued for Spamhaus as the source in their DNS requests. The open resolvers responded with DNS zone file, generating collectively approximately 75Gbps of attack traffic. The requests were likely approximately 36 bytes long (e.g. dig ANY ripe.net @X.X.X.X +edns=0 +bufsize=4096, where X.X.X.X is replaced with the IP address of an open DNS resolver) and the response was approximately 3,000 bytes, translating to a 100x amplification factor."

It now seems that the attack is being orchestrated by a Dutch hosting company called CyberBunker. As long as it's not child porn and anything related to terrorism, CyberBunker will host it, including sending spam. Spamhaus blacklisted CyberBunker earlier in the month.

However, the DDoS attacks have raised concerns that further escalations of the retaliatory attacks could affect banking and email systems. DDoS attacks are typically carried out to extort money from targeted organisations or as a weapon to disrupt organisations or companies in pursuit of ideological, political or personal interests.

Twitter hacked, data of 250,000 users exposed

Twitter said Friday that hackers, in the latest online attack, may have gained access to information on a quarter of a million of its more than 200 million active users.

The social media giant said in a blog posting that earlier this week it detected attempts to gain access to its user data. It shut down one attack moments after it was detected.

But it discovered that the attackers may have gained access to usernames, email addresses and encrypted passwords belonging to 250,000 users. Twitter has reset the pilfered passwords and sent emails advising users that they'll have to create a new one.

"This attack was not the work of amateurs, and we do not believe it was an isolated incident. The attackers were extremely sophisticated, and we believe other companies and organizations have also been recently similarly attacked," the blog said. "For that reason we felt that it was important to publicize this attack while we still gather information, and we are helping government and federal law enforcement in their effort to find and prosecute these attackers to make the Internet safer for all users."

The hack is the latest high-profile cyber-attack on US media and technology companies recently. The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal reported this week that their computer systems had been infiltrated by China-based hackers.

One expert said that the Twitter hack probably happened after an employee's home or work computer was compromised through a vulnerability in Java, a commonly-used computing language whose weaknesses have been well publicized.

Ashkan Soltani, an independent privacy and security researcher, said such a move would give attackers "a toehold" in Twitter's internal network, potentially allowing them either to sniff out user information as it traveled across the company's system or break into specific areas, such as the authentication servers that process users' passwords.

In a telephone interview Friday, Soltani said that the relatively limited number of users affected suggested either that attackers weren't on the network long or that they were only able to compromise a subset of the company's servers.

Twitter is generally used to broadcast messages to the public, so the hacking might not immediately have yielded any important secrets. But the stolen credentials could be used to eavesdrop on private messages or track which Internet address a user is posting from.

That might be useful, for example, for an authoritarian regime trying to keep tabs on a journalist's movements.

"More realistically, someone could use that as an entry point into another service," Soltani said, noting that since few people bother using different passwords for different services, a password stolen from Twitter might be just as handy for reading a journalist's emails.

Cloud computing is being pushed heavily by today's software vendors. However, cloud computing and Iinternet-based services really aren't new. In fact, there are many different cloud services and web applications available today that are completely free. In this column, I'll tell you about ten free cloud services that you can begin using right away.

1. Amazon Web Services—To prompt you to get started using its web services, Amazon offers a free version of its Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) web service, which is good for one year. This free service is the EC2 Micro Instance, which includes 750 hours of EC2, 10GB of Amazon Elastic Block Storage, 5GB of Amazon S3 storage, 30GB of Internet data transfer, and 25 Amazon SimpleDB hours. You can find out more about Amazon's free web services usage tier at aws.amazon.com/free.

2. Google Apps—One of the most well-known set of cloud-based applications is Google Apps. The free version of Google Apps includes Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sites, and Google Docs. As its name suggests, Google Calendar is a shared online calendar that lets you schedule and share appointments. Google Docs is a Microsoft Office competitor that lets you create documents, spreadsheets, drawings, and presentations, and Google Sites lets you build websites and wikis. 3. Windows Live SkyDrive—Without a doubt, the cloud service I use most often is Microsoft's SkyDrive. SkyDrive is a super handy cloud-based storage service that lets you store up to 25GB of data for free. SkyDrive provides an easy-to-use web interface that lets you create folders for storage as well as providing drag-and-drop file uploading. The only requirement for using SkyDrive is that you have a Windows Live account. You can find SkyDrive at www.skydrive.com. I should note that there are other free web storage sites, but I've been perfectly happy with SkyDrive

4. Sysinternals—It seems I can't write a guide to free tools without mentioning Sysinternals. Sysinternals is well-known for its locally installed administrative tools. However, the majority of the Sysinternals tools can be run directly off the Sysinternals website as cloud services: There's no need to install them locally. These tools provide all sorts of useful file, disk, networking, and system process utilities. You can find the cloud-based versions of the Sysinternals suite atlive.sysinternals.com.

5. icloud—icloud is a different type of cloud service than any of the other products mentioned here. It essentially offers a free online computer with a virtual desktop. The desktop gives you online storage and a variety of utility applications, including a word processor, calendar, web browser, and an application development environment. 6. Windows Live Sync—Windows Live Sync enables you to synchronize directories between multiple computer systems. This service is especially useful for syncing your desktop and laptop when you travel. Unlike most of the other services mentioned in this column, Windows Live Sync requires you to install a component on your desktop. 7. LastPass—Trying to keep track of all your online passwords is a daunting task. LastPass is a web application that securely stores your various Internet passwords and can automatically enter them on website logon forms. You can find LastPass at lastpass.com.

8.YouSendIt—YouSendIt is a website that lets you send files that are too big to send as email attachments. The free Lite version lets you send files as large as 100MB. The recipient gets an email notification with a link when the file is available for download. If you need to send larger files, there's a Pro edition that allows files up to 2GB. 9. Windows Live Messenger—A part of Microsoft's Windows Live suite, Windows Live Messenger lets you perform both text-based chatting through IM as well as one-to-one video chats if your computer has an attached webcam. 10. Hotmail and Gmail—Who doesn't take advantage of one of these super useful services? Both Microsoft's Hotmail and Google's Gmail accomplish essentially the same thing: They provide free web-based email. Hotmail allows up to 10GB attachments; Gmail allows up to 20GB attachments. What is DNS :An Introduction

You type a web address – say www.facebook.com – in the web browser, your computer queries a DNS server to find the corresponding IP address where that site is located and once it has that information, it routes your browser to the correct website.

That is a simplified definition of DNS but, behind the scenes, several parties could get involved as soon as your computer asks for the IP address of a domain name. There’s the Resolving Name Server, the Root Name Server, the TLD Name Server and finally the Authoritative Name Server.

Confused? You don’t have to be as here’s an informative short video that explains the entire DNS workflow in simple English.

Tip: Find the Name Servers of a Web Domain
If you would like to know about the Authoritative Name Server of any web domain, the one that will most definitely know the location of the IP address of that domain, follow these steps.

Open the command prompt windows by typing CMD in the Windows Run box.
On the command prompt, type NSLOOKUP and hit Enter.
Now type set querytype=soa without the quotes and hit Enter. Sentence case matters and there should be no extra spaces.
Finally type any domain name and in the results, the primary name server is the authoritative name server of that domain.

Any.do is my favorite task manager for mobile. It is currently available for Android phones only but they are working on an iPhone app and also a web-based version that should make it available to all the other mobile platforms.

Any.do has a beautiful UI with large fonts and there’s voice input so you can add new tasks by speaking instead of typing on that small keyboard. My favorite feature though is the app's integration with Google Tasks. Any.do can sync your task list with Gmail both ways so you always have access to your tasks.

Add Missed Calls to your Pending Tasks List

The new version of Any.do’s Android app adds another interesting feature.

If there’s a missed call on your mobile phone and you are too busy to return the call at that time, you can quickly add it to your pending task list with a simple click. Android Jelly Bean To Follow Ice Cream Sandwich

According to a report from ThisIsMyNext, the version of Android that follows the upcoming Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be called Android Jelly Bean. This fits in with Google’s naming its software after delicious treats and doing so in alphabetical order. To recap, we’ve had Eclair, then Froyo, then Gingerbread, then Honeycomb, and shortly, we’ll see the release of Ice Cream Sandwich. But while we apparently now know the name of Android Jelly Bean, we still don’t know what version number it’s going to have or really, any of the features that it might include when it arrives. Their source also claims that some of the ‘game-changing’ elements of Ice Cream Sandwich have been pushed to Jelly Bean except those features were not detailed. No elaboration on what those features are or were. Ice Cream Sandwich is, according to Eric Schmidt, going to be released either in October or November with most signs pointing to a release at some point in October along with a phone called the Samsung Nexus Prime. Or the Samsung Droid Prime.

Twitter has begun rolling out its new photo-sharing feature to the masses.

The new Twitter photo service, which replaces the functionality provided by TwitPic, Yfrog and other photo-sharing services, is part of both Twitter’s photo and video revamp and Twitter’s new integration deep within Apple iOS 5. The photo feature is powered by Photobucket, a fact that is impossible to miss on tweets using the new Twitter feature.

The Hackers and the hacking groups are back in lime light with recent attacks over the playstation and different websites. The hackers were very famous in 80s and 90s but their fame faded during Y2k days. So as the hacking groups are on a rise now so here we list some of the most notorious hacking groups of all time.

Masters Of Deception (MOD)

This group was famous for their operations related to the credit cards. This group hacked into the system and stole the credit card history of stars like Julia Roberts and as well as hacked the AT&T’s system for stealing the credit card numbers . The founders of this group were Acid Phreak, Scorpion and HAC and it was a New York based group. MOD was the archrival of Legion of Doom and made a mockery out of it. It said that LOD has lost its direction which resulted in the shifting of the famous hacker Mark Abene (a.k.a Phiber Optik) from LOD to MOD. The days of MOD got over when the FBI and the Secret service arrested the members and locked them behind bars.

Legion of Doom (LOD)

LOD was the biggest enemy of the Masters of Deception (MOD) and one of the most notorious groups of all time. The founder of this group was Lex Luthor (Real Name: Vincent Louis Gelormine) . This group used to publish different journals which used to contain hacking knowledge and information and also used to hack major government related websites.In 1990-1991 this group fought a net based war ,which used Internet,X.25 and the telephone networks, with the MOD which is so famous that the war is known as The Great Hacker War. LOD launched a program which assisted the corporations which were the prey of the Masters of deception. And in the end The great war ended with the loss of LOD and the victory of Masters of Deception.

Milw0rm

Milw0rm shot to fame in the year 1998 when they hacked into the systems of Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) which is the main nuclear center in India. They stole the recent experiment reports and emails and also destroyed 2 of 8 servers. This brought a lot of coverage to the group. The fascinating thing about this group was that it was a teenage group with the youngest member being only 15 years old. After the attack on BARC the group managed successful attacks on the sites of World Cup, Wimbledon, Hotel Ritz , Saudi Royal Family and Drew Barrymore.

This is not technically a hacker group but this group has originated on 4chan boards. This group is one of the most feared groups today. This has the reputation of hacking into the Sony’s Playstation network. The name given to this hacking was #opsony which was a part of the Operation Payback. The motive behind the attack was to bring down the lawsuit that was on a group called Geohot which cracked the PS3 and posted it in Youtube . Apart from this attack, the group is also held responsible for the attacks on the Church of Scientology websites, HB Gary Federal and Westbro Baptist Church. The group s still going strong and some of the major companies are on the edge of their seats thinking who’s next….

Red Hacker Alliance

This is supposedly the largest hacking group in the world as the members are about 80,000. The group was formed when the group started to oppose the ethnic riots in Jakarta, Indonesia. This group used to operate with the name China Redhackers, thus forming a new breed of hackers known as the RedHackers. This group is basically Chinese and is held responsible for the attacks on the CNN website in 2008 . This group has a very huge base and has over 250 websites linked to it. Recently another hacking group named Honker Union has joined hands with this group making it even more stronger.

So these are some of the most notorious hacking groups of all time.
But remember Hacking is real fun only if you are a hacker.

The top 10 features missing from Google Plus

Google+ has captured the attention and the imagination of the technology world. But, it’s easy to forget that it’s still in closed beta. Here are the top 10 things that need to be fixed or added.

There’s a lot to like about Google+ and it has the potential to make a major impact on the future of the Internet. After just two weeks in closed beta, it already has 10 million users. Still, it’s far from perfect. I’ve put together my list of the top 10 things Google needs to fix or add in Google+. Take a look at the list and then jump into the discussion and argue with me by adding the fixes that you think deserve more attention in Google+.

1. Let us mute someone from the Stream
On Google+ it is a lot easier to find friends and people to follow than any social network that has been built so far. And, with Circles, you can divided them into groups and then easily jump between the various streams of your Circles. However, there is also the big “Stream,” which aggregates all of the people you have in Circles and this is the default view you see on Google+. The one feature missing here is the ability to mute a person from the Stream (while still being able to see their updates in their Circle). You can mute individual posts from the Stream, but you can’t currently mute a person. This is badly needed so that you can stay connected to interesting people but not have the overly chatty people monopolize your Stream.

2. Show list of my +1 items from Google+

The +1 button allows you to give the thumbs up to really good Google+ posts and updates. However, this should also work like a list of favorites or bookmarks. Right now, there’s no way to see a list of the things where I have clicked +1. If I go to my profile there is a +1 tab, but that’s the list of external items (from web sites or Google search results) where I’ve clicked +1. The items from Google+ itself need to be added to this list.

3. Fix the share and re-share issue

One of the stickiest issues Google needs to figure out is the Share functionality. If you’re familiar with Twitter, this is like a Retweet (RT). However, when you share a post on Google+, it removes all of the comments and +1s, allows you to add your own comments above the post, and then your followers can add their own plusses and comments. That can be pretty cool, except when a bunch of the people you follow all share and re-share the same post. With the approach Google has taken to sharing, there may not be an easy answer, but something will need to be done to sort this out, at least for stuff that gets shared more than 2-3 times in your stream.

4. Let us sort the stream by raw timeline

By default, the big Stream (and the Circle streams as well) are sorted by relevance and popularity, based on the number of +1 votes and shares, so that the most interesting stuff rises to the top of the Stream. However, Google should also give us the option to sort the stream based solely on timestamp, so that we can see the stuff from people who post interesting things but don’t have as many followers to buoy their posts.

5. Allow comments to be threaded

This is an issue of intense debate, but I think Google should allow threaded commenting on Google+ so that people can comment on and respond to comments, and not just the original post. That would make the threads a lot easier to follow when they get a lot of comments. And, comments on comments could be collapsed by default and users could simply click a plus sign to expand and view them. However, the threading would only need to go three layers deep to allow a response and a counterpoint.

6. Add more functionality to mobile

It’s impressive that Google had its Android app for Google+ ready to download the moment that it launched the “Field Trial” of the new service, and shortly thereafter it submitted an iPhone/iPad app to Apple for approval in the App Store. Even better, the Android app for Google+ is very well done. However, it’s not perfect and it could make the mobile Google+ experience a lot better by adding key functionality — e.g. the ability to +1 a comment, the ability to join a hangout, the ability to easily flip between the big stream and circle streams, etc. While they’re at it, Google should add more core functionality to its HTML app as well. That would be a great way to drive more participation and get a jump on Facebook, which still doesn’t have a great mobile experience.

7. Open it up to Google Apps users

In order to get into the Google+ beta you need a Gmail address (or a Google Account). It does not currently work for the Google Apps domains, which are business accounts where the company is using a corporate version of Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and other Google web apps. Google has stated that Google+ pages for businesses and brands are coming soon. Hopefully, Google+ for Google Apps users won’t be far behind. Since some people may end up having separate Google+ accounts for personal (Gmail) and business (Google Apps) use, Google should also consider options for letting those users log in to both accounts from different tabs in the Chrome web browser.

8. Integrate private messaging
One of the biggest things Google+ is missing compared to rivals Facebook and Twitter is the ability to send a private message to a mutual contact. Sure, there are a few workarounds and hacks that let you do it, but Google needs to make this part of the product’s primary functionality. It also wouldn’t hurt to integrate GoogleTalk (instant messaging) as well.

UPDATE: Google has added a “Send an email” button in Google+ profiles. So, you can now send an email to anyone with a Google+ profile (by default), even if they don’t have you in one of their circles. This is different than private messaging, which I still think would be useful.

9. Set up verified accounts

Since there are already celebrities showing up on Google+ — and a lot of people who are impersonating celebrities — Google needs to set up something similar to Twitter’s Verified Accounts. Just do a search for “Mark Zuckerberg” or “Lady Gaga” on Google+ and take a look at how many accounts there are. There are also plenty of sneaky imposters, like the person who pretended to be Apple’s Jony Ive (the account has been deleted).

10. Show list of interactions with each user
Another useful feature that Google should add is the ability to go to a user’s profile page and see all of that person’s interactions with you — their +1s and comments on your posts, as well as your +1s and comments on their posts. This would help figure out if you should add a person to your Circles, and if so, which Circles you should put them in or add them to.

Facebook Adds Skype Video Chat Feature

Facebook has announced a partnership with Skype to add video chat to the social networking site.

The move is likely to be seen as a shot across the bow of Google, which recently launched a Facebook rival, Google+, also featuring video calling.

This is not the first time Facebook and Skype have teamed up – they already share some instant messaging tools.
Skype is in the process of being bought by Microsoft, which is a major shareholder in Facebook.

The new video-call service was launched by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who also revealed that the site now had more than 750 million users.
However, he said that the total number of active users was no longer a useful measure of the site’s success.

Instead, the amount of sharing – of photographs, videos and web links – was a better indication of how people engaged with the site, explained Mr Zuckerberg.

At launch, Facebook’s video chat service will only be able to connect two users face-to-face, whereas Google’s system allows group video calls, known as Hangouts.

My Personal Top 10 Hacking softwares

There have been a lot of tools floating around the web who claim to be the best in their respective fields.
I have used many hacking tools that are built for both windows and linux platform and have seen that the linux tools are far more powerful than the windows tools. Keeping this thing in mind i thought to compile my list to those softwares that work well for both the platform and perform similar features.
The list has some new names compared to those in last years blog. I have also provided a download link of all the ten softwares compiled in a single zipped file to ease the downloading.

1.Nmap

Nmap ,by far is the best security scanning and hacking tool ever made. This software tops every list of top hacking softwares for its two reasons. Firstly,its ease of use and secondly,its wide usage.
It provides a wide range of features like port scanning, fingureprinting, os detection , ping , scanning an IP range , alive hosts etc. It has a rich command mode for advanced users which can combine several commands together to execute ones. Its the most recomended tool for new as well as advanced learners and security experts. It hosts its google opensource project every year. Download the zip.

2.SuperScan

Powerful TCP port scanner, pinger, resolver. SuperScan 4 is an update of the highly popular Windows port scanning tool, SuperScan. If you need an alternative for nmap on Windows with a decent interface, I

3.Cain and Abel

My personal favourite for password cracking of any kind.
Cain & Abel is a password recovery tool for Microsoft Operating Systems. It allows easy recovery of various kind of passwords by sniffing the network, cracking encrypted passwords using Dictionary, Brute-Force and Cryptanalysis attacks, recording VoIP conversations, decoding scrambled passwords, revealing password boxes, uncovering cached passwords and analyzing routing protocols.

4.John The Riper

This is my personal favourite password cracking which has been in the market for over a decade and it has evolved into a powerful tool because of the special effort of the open source community.John the Ripper is a fast password cracker, currently available for many flavors of Unix (11 are officially supported, not counting different architectures), DOS, Win32, BeOS, and OpenVMS. Its primary purpose is to detect weak Unix passwords. Besides several crypt(3) password hash types most commonly found on various Unix flavors, supported out of the box are Kerberos AFS and Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 LM hashes, plus several more with contributed patches. 5.fsCrack

FSCrack is a front end for John the Ripper (JtR) that provides a graphical user interface (GUI) for access to most of JtR’s functions.It increases the functionality of JTR and provides a detailed report of password cracking . The working is similar to JTR by using the SAM file of windows to crack the admin password. Download the zip

6.Nessus Security Scanner

8.Live Bulk Mailer

Live bulk mailer has the ability to still deface the spam filter of gmail,hotmail and yahoo. Its an email flooding tool that allows the attacker to send desired number of bulk mails to the victim inbox and flood it completely. You had 389 friends on Facebook yesterday but today that number the decreased to say 387. How do you find out the names of those two souls who have decided to unfriend you on Facebook?

Now Facebook won’t notify you when people remove you from their friends list but if you would still want to have that data, there’s a web app called Twenty Feet that can help reveal the names of your ex-friends.
he idea is simple. You connect your Facebook account with Twenty Feet and it makes a note of all the Facebook profiles that are listed as your Facebook friends. It fetches this data every day and alerts if it finds one or more connections that have gone missing from your Facebook friends list.

There are two possibilities – either the person has quit Facebook altogether or they have unfriended you for some reason. Other than Facebook, you may also use Twenty Feed to track your lost followers on Twitter.
Twenty Feet takes a freemium approach – you can track one Facebook account and one Twitter account for free – which I think should work for most of us but if you are business, the cost of tracking is still pretty affordable at $2.49 per account per year.
