So I’ve taken the liberty on doing some analysis of the ‘Mckenzie River Bigfoot’ footage. I started by slowing the video down by 15% and cropping and zooming in on the supposed mysterious creature. I have to say that the outcome isn’t surprising.

Matt Moneymaker from the BFRO had this to say:

This YouTube video shot in 2008 briefly shows what may be a sasquatch in central Oregon, on the McKenzie River. At this stage it is just a “figure of interest”.A dark, long-armed figure stood up and walked away from the edge of the river as the two whitewater row boats passed by. The cameraman was shooting a YouTube installment for a fly fisherman’s blog site.

I must admit that when I first saw the video, I saw the same thing. A long-armed figure that looks bipedal and seemed to follow a path opposite to those whitewater row boats. Not getting my hopes up, I wanted to investigate this a little further. In all my years as a paranormal/crypto writer for GhostTheory, I’ve learned one thing: Be open-minded, but not too open-minded that my brains fall out.

Needless to say, I knew that there was something odd about that “long arm” of the supposed Mckenzie River creature. I’ve seen this effect before. In a post titled “Stick Alien Videos: Nothing But Sticks” we can see the same type of visual phenomena that is present in the Mckenzie River Bigfoot video: A background object (large rock, tree stump), a foreground object (plant/tree) and a moving camera man.

In the video clip that I edited, you can closely see what I mean. Pay extra attention between seconds :20 through :25. You see a large plant/tree in the foreground that blocks part of the dark object in the background. Creating a pareidolia effect. This effect makes the background object appear that it has a long arm. When you closely examined the zoomed in and slowed footage, it is clear that we are dealing with a large rock or tree stump.

I must say that I’m not surprised of the outcome. I’ve seen plenty of “Blobsquatch” videos throughout the years and they’ve all been extremely poor as far as evidence is concerned. Nevertheless, all of us in the vast field of the paranormal/crypto remain optimistic and we’re always looking on for great anticipation for that next video evidence that can only rival the “Patterson-Gimlin” footage.

The BFRO posted a video a few days ago of what many think could be a Sasquatch. The official statement of the BFRO is that at this point “it is just a ‘figure of interest’“. Rightfully so, since the video is really shaky and the only thing we can make out from it is that there is something near the river’s edge that looks human in nature.

The anomalous image is between 1:40 – 1:47

BFRO:

This YouTube video shot in 2008 briefly shows what may be a sasquatch in central Oregon, on the McKenzie River. At this stage it is just a “figure of interest”. A dark, long-armed figure stood up and walked away from the edge of the river as the two whitewater row boats passed by. The cameraman was shooting a YouTube installment for a fly fisherman’s blog site.

Oregon bigfoot investigator Cliff Barackman will find out the technical details from the cameraman, and ask him to submit a full report to the BFRO’s database. That has not happened yet, so we don’t know all the details at this point.

It appears from the video that the rowers didn’t notice the movement on the river bank. Understandably, they were focused on running the rapids, and the cameraman was focused on keeping the other boat in frame.

The location of the incident, and the physical appearance of the figure, and the behavior of the figure are consistent with a sasquatch. Nothing about the figure, or the incident in general, points to a hoax or a case of mistaken identity.

The Three Sisters region of Oregon has a long history of sightings and track finds.
At first glance the figure appears to be a bit larger than the human in the rowboat, and the figure is certainly not closer to the camera than the rowboat.

The behavior of the figure is consistent with a sasquatch. Sasquatches are often spotted near creeks and rivers.

Not enough is known about sasquatches to ascertain all the reasons why they would spend a lot of time near creeks and rivers, but a few of the reasons would surely be food-related.

There are more protein sources near creeks and rivers — fish, crayfish (freshwater shrimp), and more insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and small mammals (including skunks).
There is also water.

Also, in places like the upper McKenzie river, the only dry, non-shady spots to lay in the sun in order to warm up after a cold night of nocturnal stalking … would be on the rocky/sandy banks of the river.

In this type of terrain, where a river or creek is wide enough to be open to the sky, there will be some clean, dry patches of sand and smooth rocks to lay on at various points along the river. Everywhere else, in a densely forested river basin, will be dark and damp and cold and mucky, by comparison.

One might assume a river bank would be an undesireable place for a sasquatch to warm up in the sun, because it would be more exposed to humans, but that risk depends on how many humans access the area, and what those humans do there. If the humans occasionally shoot by on the rapids and never stop to get out on the banks, then sunning on the banks presents very little immediate risk — certainly less risk than being spotted by a motorist on a road.

Phil Plait, from Blogs.discovermagazine.com, posted an article today explaining why Astronomers, the people who spend their days looking up at the stars, don’t ever report seeing UFOs. Although it’s a good question, I found the answer to be insulting and narrow-minded. Yes, yes I know that there are those people who can confuse the Moon or an airplane for an alien spacecraft, but what about those of us who have seen strange lights being chased off by incoming jets?

When I was a kid in the 80s, we lived in Orange County (Garden Grove, CA). One evening, as my siblings and I were helping our mother unload groceries from the car, my sister yelled “What’s that?” and pointed up. I kid you not; we all stood there watching this upright triangle object with a multicolor light emanating from it, float through the horizon. A few seconds later, two military jets appeared (from the south?) and the triangular object quickly changed course and took a very fast acceleration upwards into the clouds. And just like that, it vanished. We stood there watching the jets, slowly climb up in altitude. Nowhere near the speed in which the object did. The truth of the matter is that astronomers spend their time looking at fixated objects thousands of miles away. We (earthly citizens) occasionally glance upwards and can only see a few miles up. If there are other lifeforms visiting us, they would be observing closely to the Earth’s surface. Way out of the sight of an astronomer’s telescope.

Contrary to what Mr. Plait’s article states, there have been plenty of reports given to MUFON from amateur and professional astronomers. Checking the MUFON database, there are several listed. One that stands out occurred last October. MUFON case # 20,023. This occurred in Oklahoma.

On the evening of 10-17-09 myself and four other club members were at our astronomy clubs’ observatory (35.8308 96.14518) for a clear night of observing. With many years of experience in observing under our belts we were needless to say quite qualified to identify most anything that we would see. Between approximately 6:40 – 7:00 P.M.

One of the members noticed something off in the west and queried as to what it may happen to be. First and foremost it was bright, more or less as bright as Jupiter, yet setting about ten to twelve degrees above the horizon, due west. At our first sighting most of us thought that it was nothing more than an airliner reflecting sunlight from the setting sun but that determination was tossed aside shortly there after. If it had been what we first thought it was it would’ve lost it’s size and brightness fairly quick as it shifted positions in relation to the sun while in flight. But, it continued to maintain its position, did not move in any direction – vertically, horizontally.

If by some chance it were a celestial body it would follow a gradual celestial track that all of us would have noticed in a few minutes. Again, it didn’t move, remained in one position, which eliminated the possibility of it being a celestial body that none of us were unlikely familiar with. That alone became puzzling since the obvious – Venus, Mercury – are now tracking in the morning eastern sky, not the evening western sky. With that we continued to watch it as one of the guys used his 10×50 binoculars to get a better view. What was seen initially brought to mind that it may perhaps be a high altitude research balloon but the more we watched it and as it maintained its position that thought was tossed quickly also. From the beginning it remained in one position, never moved. Balloons, of any type, will not remain in one specific position be they weather balloons, high altitude research balloons or otherwise.
But as we watched it more closely it was very surprising as to the manner in which it morphed into various shapes and sizes. Its brightness would vary some but that was easily seen as being caused by the low-lying clouds on the horizon. As we commonly call it – it was “sitting in the soup”. When they would move in front of it the objects brightness would dim some. Otherwise it would maintain its brightness. That was easily seen via binocular observations. The longer we watched it the more curious we all became and with that growing curiosity we quickly set two telescopes onto it. Two different sized telescopes were used, one, Celestron 11” Schimdt-Cassegrain telescope and a smaller Orion 4.5” dobsonian telescope. Between the two we could pull it in for a much closer look in a very inquisitive effort to determine just what it actually was. Charts and web sites were checked also to make sure we weren’t simply forgetting perhaps one event that may explain what we were now seeing. Nothing could be found. The Celestron was using a 40mm eyepiece for a much wider field of view whereas the smaller Orion had a 15mm eyepiece to pull it in much closer. Through the Orion one could easily see what appeared right off as a bell shape.

The same was viewed in the other also. But as mentioned before it morphed into what was clearly seen and could be interpreted as the same basic outline of the Shuttle that anyone would see as it flies over. Again, the same basic shape as to what you would see looking up at the bottom of it. That distinctive shape was easily recognized. At the rear of it you could see what looked like bluish green waves that would both come and go from the main rear line of the object. Nowhere else was this color and wave seen, just at the rear. The objects color was a combination of the just mentioned bluish green at the rear to a lighter orange yellow up through the main body and then into red orange, much more intense, than any of the other colors at the top or perhaps, from appearance at that time, leading edge. None of us had ever seen a color distribution of this sort before. Especially on either the Shuttle or any other normal day-to-day satellites. From our position/location it appeared to be hovering over either Bristow, Ok or possibly even Oklahoma City. There was no attempt by any of us then to determine its specific distance or altitude from us. The same applies to its actual size. Visually, it appeared very similar to the size of Jupiter. Other than that comparison we honestly don’t know either its distance or specific altitude. It remained in the same position for approximately 40 minutes and never moved. Close to 8 P.M. we started to notice what appeared to be a ring of lights that was rotating around the bottom portion.

The lights were seen in the same location that the bluish green colored waves were at. Several of us noticed this while looking at it through the telescopes. Needless to say this was surprising to us all. This carried on for one to two minutes and then suddenly the object started to move. The movement was slow at the beginning but increased very rapidly. I had my eye glued to the 40mm eyepiece when this began and once it started I could not move. Within two seconds it had totally disappeared from open visual sight but I still had a lock on it in the eyepiece. Fast, very fast it moved from dead center in the eyepiece field of view upwards and at the same time was getting smaller and smaller as it flew away. Two or three seconds later it was totally gone from view in either of the telescopes. The speed that it moved was without question way beyond anything that we have knowledge of or is publicly known to be in our military. At the rate it flew away would make a SR-71 Blackbird look very old and slow. Could it have possibly been a new experimental aircraft? Possibly yes but if so what was something such as that doing in Oklahoma? Most generally new experimental, top-secret aircraft of that type are being tested at either Edwards AFB or Area 51, not Oklahoma. In a nutshell, we will never know.
It was unidentifiable, it was in the air and flew away and it most certainly was an object of some unknown kind/type. From this alone it could be justifiably categorized as a UFO.

I have, from time to time, made a point that astronomers rarely if ever report UFOs. If UFOs really were buzzing us as much as the media and UFO proponents would have us believe, then astronomers would overwhelmingly report the majority of them: we spend far more time outside looking up than pretty much any other group of people.

So why don’t we see all these alien spacecraft? I think this is because we almost always understand what we’re seeing in the sky, so we know not to mistake Venus, the Moon, a satellite, or other mundane things for flying saucers.

While UFO believers love to make hay of this — showing me the extremely rare time when an astronomer has reported a UFO, thus proving my point, or falsely saying astronomers spend too much time at the eyepiece to note the broader sky (which is ridiculous) — the fact is, astronomers are familiar with the sky, so we know what’s going on.

Well, almost always know. John Woolley of the Greater Edmonton Skeptics Society has an amusing story of the time he and some other astronomers saw something they couldn’t immediately explain… and make sure you read Part 2.

And y’know, his story sounds pretty familiar…

So remember, despite the claims of the UFO crowd and the media that love to play this stuff up, seeing isn’t believing. Understanding is!

Sabina & Ursula Eriksson are two Swedish twins that shocked the medical world a few years back. The case begins when CCTV operators spot the women walking along the M6 motorway in Birmingham, UK. To the horror of the operators, they watch as both women fling themselves onto oncoming traffic. With no serious injuries, the women stand on the side of the road. Once the officers approach the women, the situation goes completely out of control. While being questioned, the women escape from the police and run again onto incoming traffic. All this, while the cameras from a reality television show were rolling.

What had possessed the women to act in such manner? A suicide pact? As it turns out, the worse was yet to come. Upon being released, Sabina Eriksson killed a man by stabbing him in the chest. She then ran off into the motorway again, smashing her head with a hammer as she ran through the streets.

The BBC documentary dives into the mysterious case that stumped paramedics, police and 7 million viewers through the media. Most interesting is seeing how the courts struggled on how to deal with this sort of case.

This strange case has stirred up plenty of conversations on whether the twins were victims of each others delusional psychosis or some other mental illness (Bouffée délirante). I’ve even read talks about demonic possession and government mind control drugs. The psychotic episodes of a person can be construed as paranormal by many. And in that sense, the paranormal can be construed by psychotic episodes.

A new article came out today which mentions Dr. Colvin’s research into poltergeist sounds, especially the audio recordings of the infamouse “Enfield Poltergeist” case. I had previously reported on the findings of Dr. Colvin in a post titled “Scientific evidence of Poltergeist Knockings found?”

If you are not familiar with the “Enfield Poltergeist” case, then watch this documentary. One of my favorites.

NEW scientific research which uses evidence from the world famous Enfield Poltergeist case has come a step closer to proving conclusively the existence of paranormal activity.

Research published in the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research has concluded that audio recordings made during poltergeist activity at a house in Green Street in the late 1970s were unlikely to have been caused by normal human activity.

The recordings, made between 1977 and 1978, captured a variety of unexplained occurrences that plagued a mother and her children – including banging on walls and moving furniture.

During the year of disturbances, incidents of levitation and appearances of apparitions were also reported.

The events were witnessed by the family, along with local police officers, neighbours and journalists, receiving global media attention.

The recordings have for the first time been analysed in detail and the sounds of knocking on walls and furniture compared to the same sounds recreated under scientific conditions. The results showed the unexplained noises in Enfield did not produce normal sound wave patterns.

Guy Lyon Playfair – who spent two years investigating the case at the time, and went on to chronicle the events in a book, welcomed the research. He said: “This is absolutely the biggest step forward in the last 30 years, and it’s easily reproducible as all scientific evidence should be.”

The author and investigator added: “In doing this research, scientific order has been brought into a very crazy area – poltergeist activity. I don’t think it’s been done before.”

The research has been conducted by Dr Barrie Colvin who concludes that the noises recorded as unexplained incidents of “paranormal activity” can be clearly differentiated because of their abnormal acoustic properties – which are evident when they are analysed.

Dr Colvin said: “There are indications that the acoustic properties of the two classes of sounds are different and that this technique can be used to differentiate between normal and paranormal rapping sounds.”

Asked whether he believed such activity could ever return to the Enfield house, Mr Playfair said: “It would be extremely unlikely. When the family went away on holiday I stayed in the house on my own, very much hoping something would happen – but not a squeak. I tried knocking and shouting at the thing, but nothing.”

The last activity at the house was reported in September 1978. But in the 32 years that have followed interest in the case has continued to be intense – especially as extensive audio recordings exist of the activity, including recorded speech. The case has been the subject of numerous television documentaries.

Mr Playfair added: “It’s been accepted as one of the classic cases, there were so many people involved and I think it was the first or second case when the investigators were there right at the start and stayed right until the end.”

Here it is. The video from last week’s post on the supposed “Triangle UFO crash” that took place in Sanger, California. The craft is reported to have flown north from Fresno, CA down through Sanger county.

The video does not show anything conclusive. I can make out the lights of the object, forming a triangle shape, but that doesn’t tell me much. There has been no official conclusion from MUFON on this matter.
What do you guys think?

I don’t watch any ‘”paranormal reality shows” at all. I used to watch ‘Ghost Hunters’ when it first came out, but that did not last long. Part of the first season was exciting for me because I’ve never really seen any reality television shows before and ‘Ghost Hunters’ brought the paranormal and drama along with the investigations. I thought that what these guys were onto was something that needed to be done. Scientific investigation into the paranormal as never before. Well it didn’t take long before I started to see through their gimmick.

Although the ‘Ghost Hunters’ were trying to capture paranormal evidence on video and audio, it seemed like now they were going out with the purpose of helping people deal with paranormal incidents. If you really think about it, it’s quite moronic. Before I start getting hate-mail, let me clarify myself a little…

The show’s main purpose is to attract viewers by the promise, or the enticement, of them showing at least something paranormal throughout each episode. Nevermind the clients who are asking for help (legit or not), the team goes out to capture ghosts on video. Sooner or later the producers of the show will start seeing a decline in the viewers since there is no real “proof” –I put it in quotes since the definition of proof varies with different people– the producers then start demanding evidence. Herein comes the deception. The ‘Ghost Hunters’ have been caught faking several pieces of evidence before. Of course, it was too late. The show was now a full blown mega-engine barreling down the reality television road, and there were no signs of it running out of steam.

Now in their 6th season, the show is really mainstream. Everyone I know who was not familiar with the paranormal and its studies think that parapsychology is what the ‘Ghost Hunters’ do. That’s fine. Not everyone cares enough to educate themselves. What bothers me is the blatant disregard that the team and the producers have for their viewers.

In this season, there is an episode that takes plain in Cooperstown, NY. Something about a “haunted” hotel.

Well I skimmed through the episode just to see what new things were being done in the show. The team concluded that this hotel was haunted because of certain EVPs that they had captured as well as some really “freaky” unexplained video. The video was of a flashlight that was being used as a means of communication by a ghosts. The team would ask it questions and it would respond by turning the flashlight on and off. What the investigators did to get a reaction of the ghost was play a small musical box. Something that was completely random.

Low and behold when the team went to show the “evidence” to the Otesaga hotel representatives –one was the ‘director of marketing’. Go figure– the main investigators acted shocked when the reps told them how people that had previously stayed in the hotel had heard a music box playing in the middle of the night. Now lets really think about this for a minute. Since when have you see the GH team take a music box to a location? Not only that, but what a coincidence that it so happened that the ghost in the hotel was also playing a music box late at night.

I don’t know why people are so attracted to these types of shows. They should be insulted instead of in awe. Many people have left comments here on GhostTheory saying something in the lines of “it’s just entertainment. Don’t take it so seriously…” but the truth of the matter is that these types of shows is what keeps the American public misinformed.

There is one show out there that understands what I’m trying to say. This show, did a perfect portrayal of the ‘Ghost Hunters’.

you know, in the mid-80s there was this media frenzy involving satanic cults, human sacrifices and Devil worshiping that had Mexico and the U.S. locked-down in fear. The mass hysteria probably started when David Berkowitz (Son of Sam) had said that he had several accomplices during the July 1976 to August 1977 senseless killings in New York. Berkowitz, a social pariah, had confessed that he was part of a satanic cult that had ordered him and others to go out into the hot summer nights in New York and do their bidding. Many have dismissed Berkowitz’s claims and believed that he had made the story up. While incarcerated, Berkowitz said: “There are other Sons out there, God help the world.”

Years later around 1989 I was a child living in Guadalajara, Jalisco. I remember how one particular day everyone seemed to be talking about a gruesome mass grave being found in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. A state in Mexico known for its close proximity to the south end of Texas and drug trafficking. The grave was shallow and had the remains of 15 victims. One of them being Mark J. Kilroy. A student at University of Texas at Austin. Mark was in Tamualipas enjoying what the college kids called “Texas week”; spring break in Mexico. Mark Kilroy was part of a human sacrifice done by Mexican priests and priestess of a cult practicing ‘Palo Mayombe‘, a religion that has its roots in African, Dominican, Cuban and American societies. Like most African based religions, ‘Palo Mayombe’ isn’t the “evil” religion as depicted by western stigma. Of course, there are those few people that always seem to bring in the wrong type of attention. (like most religions)

Being in a predominantly Catholic society, it seemed like everyone around me was more appalled at the fact that ‘Devil worshiping’ was occurring in their country than the fact that these murdering priests and priestess were part of a large drug trafficking operation. They had ordered the sacrificing of human beings in order to protect their drug business.

The images that flooded the news were gruesome. Mutilated bodies, blood-drawn pentagrams and goat’s skulls being pulled out of this dilapidated shack, somewhere in the Matamoros country side. The fear of Satan worshipers was all too real. I grew up fearing these cults. Cults that I had no prior knowledge of. All I knew is that my parents told me that they were bad and that they were out there, hunting humans.

I still feel somewhat unnerved by these types of stories. Although I now know the true basis of Satanism and its many denominations, I am more tolerant of them. I don’t particularly think they are good because I do believe in restriction and self-discipline. Most people assume that these types of religions believe in human sacrifices. Something that is completely not true. Satanists do not believe in harming any animal, except livestock (food) and in self-defense. Which I can totally agree on.

Last year, I watched this movie called ‘The House of the Devil’. A new flick made in 2009, ‘The House of the Devil’ has a retro feel and look to it. Bringing you back to those days were movies depicted Satanists as “devil worshiping bike gangs” hunting hitchhikers and lost travelers. THOTD grew quickly to become one of my favorite horror films in recent times. Most horror films that are produced nowadays are a joke to me. Somehow director Ti West got it right with this one.

Gang, I hope you enjoy this movie. It scared me. So get out your popcorn and ‘fullscreen’ that movie!

The following article was posted on The UFO Chronicles and was written by Anthony F. Sanchez from UFOHighway.com.

The report of a downed stingray-shaped UFO was given to the MUFON investigator Jeffery Gonzalez by a California family from Central Valley who had reported seeing the strange craft making a hard landing onto the side of the nearby mountains of Fresno CA. Hours later, the investigator on-site witnessed from the distance how unrecognized vehicles surrounded the craft and appeared to be repairing it or dismantling it.

I will be following the development of this story. Supposedly there is footage of the crash site. More to come…

By Anthony F. Sanchez
8-23-10

A Central Valley California Family driving home late Saturday Evening (August 21st, 2010) called the 24 hour hotline of Jeffrey Gonzalez (MUFON State Section Director) to report seeing a “Triangle Shaped Craft” make a hard landing onto the side of a nearby mountain just north of Fresno CA.

While talking to a male witness by phone, the investigator reported over hearing two female witnesses speak in the background describing the lights of the craft. He over heard them saying, “It’s trying to take off, it’s trying to lift!”

He also stated, “When I arrived to the area where the family was, I looked up on the mountain and there were three distinct glowing white lights coming from the area where the family reported seeing the craft; these could be seen on the side of the mountain. What puzzled me was that there are no homes or buildings on the side of that mountain. There is only a small shack used by military utility teams from the nearby base, which is visible during the day.”

The investigator also stated that upon his arrival he immediately began to videotape the event, at the time of this writing it is not known if still photos were taken.

He reported that 15-20 minutes after his arrival multiple unknown vehicles began to congregate on the mountain surrounding the crash site. And within minutes of their arrival he began to see through his camera viewfinder what was definitely a bright bluish-white light quite reminiscent of the output of an arc welder. His immediate thoughts were that the craft was being repaired to resume flight, or disassembled for removal from the area.

The UFO Investigator decided to stay the evening recording all the events. The next morning at 6:00 AM he could see two long scorch marks on the side of the mountain leading up to the shack. And in front of the small shack was a large craft reminiscent of a stingray.

He commented, “At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. But it’s exactly as how I describe it; it looked like a stingray shaped air craft .”

Jeffrey Gonzalez reported that the area on the Mountain is private and inaccessible to the public. He and a fellow UFO investigator made several attempts later that morning to get to the site but could not find an access point from any public areas. When they returned to the public vantage point to record the area once again, the craft was gone.

Currently Jeffrey Gonzalez says they are processing the video of the event to make it available for everyone to see at their website.

It should be noted that this event occurred in proximity near the “ANGB/Fresno “Deep Underground Military Base” located at the Fresno Yosemite International Airport, formerly Fresno Air Field. The facility is run by The 144th Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard Base (ANGB), of Fresno California. Interestingly, the 144th Fighter Wing is under the direct oversight of the North American Aerospace Defense Command “NORAD”, which itself is located 2,000 feet deep inside of Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado.

This event comes as a complete surprise as it coincides with Mr. Gonzalez and me (Anthony Sanchez) jointly participating in an Investigative Report on Underground Bases in CA. We’ll be together on location within the week to perform additional research in to the crash and any relation to ANGB/Fresno “Deep Underground Military Base”.

Written by Scott McMan for GhostTheory

I have never really decided if I believe the Roswell UFO Incident or not. There are some great stories surrounding the incident, some very believable while others are not. What few people know is there was a truck driver named Ralph A. Multer that was allegedly right smack in the middle if the mix. Ralph claimed he drove truck for the mega steel company Timkin. Timkin was the foremost authority on structural steel at the time and worked hand in hand with the government on many projects. One of those projects was Roswell according to Multer’s wife and daughter.

Full source: CantonRep

CANTON — Ralph A. Multer’s blue-collar life collided with the extraterrestrial in
Canton many years ago.

A wounded World War II veteran who walked with a limp, Multer exhibited a gruff
exterior. He liked to spin stories about his days as a gunner’s mate on a Navy warship,
including ones about the Battle of Iwo Jima. Multer worked on cars and rode a
motorcycle. His nickname was “Bear,” a reference to his large frame. And on occasion,
he enjoyed a few swallows of vodka.

At 22 and married, Multer worked hard to support his wife, driving a truck for the
Timken Co.

He wasn’t normally given to far-flung tales of flying saucers and little green men. Until,
that is, the summer of 1947.

Multer is said to be Canton’s connection to the most famous UFO story in world history:
The alleged crash of an alien spacecraft near Roswell, N.M., in July 1947.

object was absolutely impenetrable.”

Metallic. Lightweight. Silver or dark gray. That’s how her father described the mysterious
material.

“We grew up with the story,” said Multer-Lingle, 58, who was born in Canton and lives
in Knoxville, Tenn. “Dad would put us up on his lap, and he would tell us the story.”

He never changed his story. Or added details, she said.

“Dad wasn’t a liar at all,” Multer-Lingle said. “I mean, if he told you something, you
believed it because that’s just how he was, and I heard this so many times and so much
that we never doubted it.”

Multer’s late wife told UFO researchers the experience left a lasting impression on her
husband. It “never left his mind from then on,” she said in an interview in the 1990s.

Seems there’s something to this. I’m not one to make snap judgments but I’m beginning to be drawn into this tale.

Multer’s story is difficult to verify. According to records from the Golden Lodge United
Steelworkers Local 1123, Multer left Timken in 1952. His daughter says that is when the
family moved to the Portsmouth area in Scioto County, where Multer then worked as a
railroad brakeman.

Timken spokeswoman Lorrie Paul Crum said Multer worked with the company in the
early 1950s, initially in the steel operations and later as a truck driver. However, a search
didn’t turn up all of the company records on Multer, Crum said.
“We didn’t have his beginning employment records,” she said.
“We had partial records. We don’t keep them for all the employees.”

Multer could have worked at Timken in 1947, said Tom Sponhour, editor of the Golden
Lodge News, noting records can be sketchy that far back.
“We talked with retirees and executives familiar with all facets of … Timken’s long-
standing relationships with government and scientific organizations serving as one of the
world’s foremost experts in metallurgy,” Crum said.

But “no one had any recollection of Multer’s story,” she wrote in an e-mail response.

The Repository contacted several Timken retirees who worked for the company in the
late 1940s and early 1950s.

Only one recalled hearing about Multer. Dominick T. Rex got a job at Timken in 1946 in
the roller bearings plant.
“It was just a rumor about a truck driver (who) did something,” Rex recalled. “He did
something, and it was Ralph.”

But the 84-year-old does not recall anything about a crashed UFO.

He told loved ones he hauled material from the crashed spaceship to one of the Timken
plants in Canton that summer. A Timken furnace could not dent, damage or melt the UFO
wreckage. Not even slightly.

An FBI agent made it very clear. Don’t tell anybody about the covert operation. Keep it
hush-hush.

That’s a fascinating story. A whopper. Is it true? Can it be verified? Especially when you
consider Multer died in 1982. Could a company of Timken’s iconic stature be complicit
in perhaps the greatest government cover-up of all time?

One thing that always helps to verify a story is if the teller never changes it over time. This is a long and involved story that in my opinion would not be conducive to consistency in multiple telling’s. Not only did Multer never change his story but he retold it time and time again with the same consistency. Up until now it would seem that Ol’ Ralph Multer is holding all the cards. However, it would seem it’s not that cut and dried after all. Then again are these stories ever? In the next excerpt it starts to get a little sketchy for Ralph.

July 8, 1947. UFO historians consider that a monumental date. It is when the Roswell
Army Air Field issued a press release that a crashed flying disk had been recovered in the
New Mexico desert.

The military quickly changed its story. A second press release stated the 509th Bomb
Group at the Roswell base mistakenly had identified a weather balloon as flying saucer
wreckage.

Legions of UFO buffs believe the Roswell story. Researchers and authors have
interviewed hundreds of people on the subject, including former military officers. Some
believers have obtained once-classified documents, connecting the dots to conclude that
the government concealed the crash and stashed away dead aliens with balloon-shaped
heads, large eyes and child-like bodies.

Others declare the Roswell story to be a ridiculous myth borne out of wild imaginations.
They contend its utter nonsense concocted by nuts that are loose with the facts and heavy
on speculation. They argue the UFO crowd has yet to produce hard evidence, such as a
hunk of the damaged flying saucer.

Multer was a believer. He became one 63 years ago while working a four-hour shift for
Timken.

Multer told his wife the story. Years later, he shared it with his daughter.

It was August or September. Multer had hoped to finish the shift and meet his wife for
lunch. But the normalcy of the day quickly faded.

Multer said he and two other drivers were asked to pick up loads at a railroad yard. Three
flatbed trucks, covered with canvas, carried the loads.

The load on Multer’s truck was the largest. The convoy of trucks was escorted by
officials of some type. Multer had some level of security clearance at the company.

FBI agents had met the trio of truck drivers. Multer asked about the loads. An agent told
him they were parts of a flying saucer recovered in New Mexico. The strength and
durability of the material would be tested in a super-hot Timken furnace.

“They talked to a person later who was there that night (at one of the Timken plants), and
they said they couldn’t cut it, they couldn’t even heat it,” said Sundi Multer-Lingle,
Multer’s daughter. “The piece of metal, well I don’t know if you can call it metal, the

Scott, one of the UFO investigators who co-authored the original story about Multer, said
she and the other researcher visited Timken in the mid-1990s to inquire about the former
truck driver and Roswell.

None of the retired management and engineer employees contacted by UFO investigators
had heard of the alleged Canton connection to Roswell, said Scott, who worked on
satellite photography in the 1960s for the Defense Intelligence Agency. She is a former
biology professor at St. Bonaventure University.
“I don’t have a firm conclusion,” she said of the alleged UFO crash.

The U.S. Department of Defense did not respond to a phone inquiry or e-mail from The
Repository seeking comment about Roswell-related events in 1947 and Multer’s story.
The agency forwarded the call Thursday to the U.S. Air Force.

As of Friday, the Air Force had not replied. In the mid-1990s, the Air Force issued two
in-depth reports, following an inquiry by the General Accounting Office, in an effort to
debunk the Roswell story.

So, is Ralph telling the truth? I got a little excited there for a while but that last bit of info was a real downer. Of course it just serves to bring us back into the reality of the situation. Outside of Stanton Friedman I don’t think there are too many that truly believe that a UFO crashed in Roswell NM in 1947.

Then again, maybe, just maybe there’s something to it. After all several witnesses have come forward with fairly believable stories and the Government has been so wishy washy about the whole thing over the years. I still can’t stand here and claim that Roswell never happened. What about you readers?
