We were pleasantly surprised, and thoroughly tickled, by a recent telephone interview with Marketing Magazine.

The issue landed at HQ this morning, where we’re featured in two articles: Rising In The West, a profile of 10 agencies in Western Canada, and The 2011 Agency Tree.

Posters and Billboards and Buses, Oh My!

Vancouver Opera approached us to produce a series of spots to promote 3 of their new productions this season, the first being West Side Story.

We wanted to make the spot unique to VOP, so we set it in Vancouver. At first we had trouble narrowing down our favorite scenes, but we solved that by retro-fitting the whole story into 15 seconds! We used a Saul Bass inspired style to pay homage to the original time period, and finished the spot using Vancouver’s iconic Woodward’s ‘W’ as the first letter in the title.

VOP liked the concept so much, they had us re-design their print campaign on bus wraps, posters, billboards, newspaper ads, flyers, programs, and more.

We couldn’t feel more pretty. [ahem, WSS reference]

New Work: CRC Health Group

After 2 weeks of drawing lots and lots of frames, we just finished a hand-drawn online spot for CRC Health Group. The hand-done style isn’t new, but we haven’t seen it used in the form of an infographic piece before. We chose the style to convey the chaos associated with the subject matter. Our hands are tired, but we’re pleased with the result!

We found the next Ant.

Happily, Jorge got his visa today and will be joining the team in September. Like anyone who has joined the team, we really admire his work, and are excited for another artist to join us in our pursuit of having a great time making work that we find meaningful.

Jorge, who goes by Jr.canest online, comes to us via Vancouver Film School and then a great studio in LA, and has worked on some pretty nifty stuff.

Hiiiii Teresa, Hiiiii Scott

It’s been some time since posting an update. New projects aside, we have one that’s long overdue: the acquisition of two lovely & fantastic new Creative Team members.

Teresa Toews has been with us since January as Project Manager. She also manages to write scripts, keep the office running in top form, and throw down some really great creative concepts. We <3 her. So do our clients and vendors.

Scott Tolan comes to us from the world of snowboard films, and is our first dedicated Editor. From what we can tell, Scott has and endless memory and a delightfully astute attention to detail and continuity. In the short time he’s been on our team, he’s edited 5 TV commercials, and about an hour worth of other projects destined for the internet. We <3 him too.
