Who is Giant Squid GypsyOwl?

My education (currently in progress) is focused on global marketing. I will graduate in January 2010 with a BBA (Business Admin). My Passion for Global Marketing is evidenced in my work, the enjoyment of every aspect of the craft, as well as my GPA (3.9). My other passion is art. I have no formal graphic design education, but, I have been dedicated to learning about it for over 5 years.

I started working with digital graphics when I didn't have room or resources to paint (acrylics were my primary artwork for many years). Next I wanted to start showing my work, still in starving student mode...I needed to do it 'free.' My son suggested GIMP and I have been using it ever since. My motivation was to build a web site (which developed into a small side business as well for awhile). I've learned to use open source apps (GIMP, Joomla, Serendipity, Open Office for example) and then I discovered Squidoo. In May '08 all the work I had been doing ignited and I've been joyfully content ever since.

I receive countless invitations to have my brain picked about Squidoo, day after day. So, after the Blueprint conference in November '08 , I started developing content for a 'new squid' class, built the new graphic design gallery www.gypsyowl.com , and have started joint ventures with numerous experts in several areas of the craft. The SquidNess Website is under construction as well. The SquidNess Website is a Membership Site (Annual Membership Fees Apply) that will keep you connected to every new and exciting way to use Squidoo and other exceptional resources together.

The 'New Squid' class has become a free resource primarily because the demand for the personalized class was overwhelming. I have sold out of the personalized consultations for New Squidoo Class months in advance. I will include submitted questions in future 'new squid' class emails. Each email (about twice a month) will be packed with information to assist you in the process of perfecting your lenses.

The NEW Networking Business Group (first published January 1, 2009) was in the TOP 100 Squidoo Groups (#15) on January 4, 2009 (only 4 days from publishing and still under construction).

The Lens Building venture has never been advertised before today. I build each lens set (a series of lenses - usually 3 lenses & your profile page) from scratch, by myself, without using any 'special' resources available only to Giant Squids. If you simply do not have the time to build a lens and really want your business to be featured on Squidoo, this may be an option for you.

I only accept 1 client a week. Being selected as a client has its rewards, but, it also has strick criteria as well. I will select one client who:

Has an exceptional topic , product, service, or interest (no spam, no hype, no scam)
Has confirmable references (testimonials, non commercial promotions in social media or other confirmed authorities of quality of product/service)
Highest Business Ethical standards!
Prepayment via Paypal (50% prior to starting project - balance due 30 days from starting project - You will have two weeks to review work and submit revision request or the 30 days will be extended accordingly).
Complete a survey prior to start of project ( a few questions that will help me to build a comprehensive lens set for you).
No Last Minute Urgent orders. A Squidoo Lens takes time to craft, to build, to optimize. In general this is a Two Week (start to draft) process. And then after submission of revision requests (by you), another week. So Plan ahead, not only for the turn around timeframe but also for the possibility that you are not selected as The ONE Client any given week.
Additional Criteria may be added at any time (I will simply not accept clients on occasion for numerous reasons I will not list here).

I respect you , your work, and your request for my services. I appreciate you! If I choose to not take on your project, for whatever the reason, I will do my best to find another provider for you to submit your request to.

hen we discuss Voluntary Simplicity, there are different interpretations of the term. I address this concept from the spiritual aspect of the theory. The aspects that help us to simplify our lives, so we have time for the most important aspects, such as family, community, and service.

Life is filled with distractions everywhere we turn. The news focus' on all the worst aspects of human nature, and sometimes we forget that there are stories that do not get told. The Good News that is left off of the media because it takes second place to all the bad news.

I do not believe our media is to blame. It is our nature to want to know what is going on. It protects us from becoming victim to horrible deeds.

On the other hand, we can get over saturated with this kind of news and we need to balance it out with some real human kindness information. So, why not create your own personal human kindness story. Gather your family together and hug on them. Schedule time with them. This series will outline applicable easy ways you can do this as well as reflection on each activity as it will impact your life.

The smallest human contact on a daily basis might be the answer to reducing the number of bad news stories we hear about and increasing the event of the Good News stories. Your family will be a catalyst to change.

One family - One heart at a time

4 Bio Tips - Biography Guide

The Biography is an important part of the presentation of a lens collection. Take a tour of your lens bios, and your default bio and look at them from a visitor's perspective.

I have recently realized that a Lens bio can be created for each lens. This is a great feature that can be an asset to any Lensmaster and a Giant Squid can simplify the process by creating a few snippets, by category, to take advantage of the feature.

First

If you haven't already written a default bio that is the first most important step. Your default will migrate to all of your lenses and this will give you time to work on the snippet updates which will need to be added to each Lens (in edit mode).

Create/update Default Bio.

The Default Bio is a great place to tell your fans about yourself. You may consider writing the snippets first and then including each of them (revised a bit) in your default bio.

Create Bio snippets for each lens topic category.

Each category that you write about deserves a dedicated snippet. For example, I write about my art, my spiritual journey, and about motivational people (to name a few). So that is at least three snippet categories to write about. Each will highlight my passion and experience for the category to be presented.

Links

The Default Bio is a great place to link to your Lensography and your favorite Lenses. The snippet is a great opportunity to link to your Default Bio and other related lenses. The feature will automatically show other lenses you have created, yet, you can create a hyperlinked list of the related lenses for visitors to follow to assist them in staying on the topic they are interested in.
