My co-worker thinks I nuts that I keep on wanting to put pimento cheese sandwiches into our Southern Style food stations but really this seems perfect to me. My grandmother made them the best.

Today is Luna's 7th birthday and because we don't really know Scout's birthday, we celebrate her today too! She is 4 today. We love our cats and plan on giving them a yummy dinner tonight of Whisker's Salmon Pâté, their all time favorite!

Eliza, you are the definition of a true blue best friend. You put so much effort, energy and love into your friendships with people. You listen, give, and are there for your friends and I can't imagine my life with out you in it. I am excited for you to turn 30. I don't know why this year or birthday is really that different than the others but I think this year for you is going to be a good one. I think this year is really going to be about you being the best you you can be.

Waiting....

I have been reading a lot of posts online about waiting. Waiting is so hard sometimes and it is even harder when worry is mixed in. Last night I went to the airport to pick up my friend and waited and waited for her to show up. Her flight had checked in at the gate when I checked in online but as the clock ticked and I waited and never heard from her I decided to check again. This time her flight no longer showed up. This made me worry. I called her. I texted her. I called again. I called the airport. I waited. I waited for about 2 hours and then decided it might be best to just go home and just wait there. I left. I waited. I worried. Finally I got a text back from my friend saying that she was not due till the next day. Relief ensued. My or her mistake, it did not matter. Even though I knew she was ok, the worry stuck around the rest of the night because it turned into what ifs. Its no fun to wait. No fun to worry either.

I am a little obsessed with popcorn right now. I keep on put it in menus for events that I plan. My current favorite is citrus salt popcorn with warm truffle butter. I had something like it at one of my favorite hotel's restaurant and could never get it off my mind. The Glitter Guide wrote about the above popcorn and I think I am going to plan a party just to try it. You know, we just bought a microwave over Christmas after not having one for about a year and a half. We never missed it, we never really use it but we have popped some popcorn in it so therefor it is now worth it.

Haptic Lab

I have just fallen in love with the "Soft-Map" quilts by Brooklyn based designer Emily Fisher of Hiptic Lab. It is just a perfect gift for a friend moving away from their home, newlyweds and new parents or me just because I would treasure it so. The quilts can be quite colorful, even custom but the solid color with the the roads and rivers and streets most appeals to me. I can't imagine how much time it takes to do something like this. So much energy put into each item. There is a really cool article the Herman Miller blog about the types of music and books on tape that Fisher listens to while she works. I remember in college for one interior design studio project I listened to the David Grey's CD "White Ladder" on repeat for about 14 hours.

One week ago today, Rachel from elephantine opened her brand new online store called Mignon Kitchen Co. Its full of wonderful and mostly beautiful little items that are perfect for cooking, gifting and eating. Rachel is one talented lady. Not only does she design pretty jewelry, she cooks yummy food with how to videos to match, she writes short stories that are so compelling that you are sad when they are over, writes one of my favorite blogs and now this. I am so excited for her. I just bought some chevron napkins, little measuring spoons, honey and some fancy sugar. Congrats Rachel!

My friend Hilary recommend this series ( yeah, I know I am little late in the game) to me and I have not been able to put any of the books down. Truth be told I have been reading this past week when I get home from work instead of blogging. I am reading Mockingjay right now and am obsessed. I did not even know a movie was coming out and I just watched the trailer and can't wait to see that. It is a must read. THANKS Hilary!

One of my favorite parts of vacation was being by the water, I became obsessed with taking pictures of it. I would often go to the same spot every day to take more picture in case I did not get the right shot. Nothing makes me happier than being in the water. Right now I like the pool better than the ocean, that may change but that is where I stand right now. I was in the water every day and I already miss it. This weekend our friends who live at the beach had a winter party and on our way home I made Alex pull over so I could take a picture. The water is like therapy for me, I crave it and it always draws me back to this quote.
