I’m on my longboard today. I want to illustrate today what longboarding has to do with video blogging. Stay tuned to see what I’m talking about.

The other day I went longboarding; but this time I went for a different reason. I wanted to learn how to longboard using the other side of my body; so, turning the other way around. I’ve never done this before and I actually came off. I almost hurt myself.

Thinking about video blogging, that reminded me about something that was quite interesting. So I accidentally stumbled on something very interesting.

The discovery that I made was that skateboarding or longboarding is actually very similar to video blogging, or at least the beginning of it. What I discovered was that with both of them, if you want to be good at them, you need to know about this thing called “flow”.

At the beginning, when you learn any new skill like skateboarding for example, you find it very difficult. Your brain is not quite used to having that skill and so you have to struggle along, you keep falling off until you have reconditioned your brain.

There’s actually been a lot of research done on this thing called “FLOW”. I like to explain a little bit more to you right now.

There’s this really clever dude with an unpronounceable name that wrote the book “Flow”. It’s basically the study on a research behind getting into a “state of flow”. Often with sports players and tennis players they might say something like they really in the zoom where they are at their best performance. That’s really just another way of saying they are in flow.

This book talks about the conditions of getting into flow and how important it is to get into the flow to be able to do your best kind of work. Just as with skateboarding, as it is with video blogging. When you’re learning for the first time, it’s really difficult to get into that flow state. So at the beginning, a lot of people might give up because they didn’t quite get into that flow state so they never quite get a really nice result.

Three Conditions You Need For Getting Into That Flow State

First is to have a really clear set of goals.

The second one is to have an immediate feedback loop as you’re working towards that goal.

The third one is to make sure that the challenge that you have at hand is matched really well with your skill level. In other words, if your challenge is too big for your skill level, then you might feel overwhelmed and you might not be able to continue; you might want to give up. On the other hand, if your challenge is too low for your skill level, you might get bored and you’ll be out of the state of flow.

You want to make sure that you get into that magic zone where your skill and challenge levels are really well-matched to get you into that flow state so you could be as productive as possible.

How “Flow” Applies To Video Blogging

Next, let’s have a look at how this applies to video blogging because it is really what this is all about. There are five steps and let’s hop through them right now.

Step 1 – Ask the question “Why?”

Why are you doing this?

If I could relate it to my skateboarding or longboarding, the reason why is because it’s just heaps of fun. I love doing it and it is also really good for fitness. It’s a really good way to provide me with motivation.

If you ask that question to yourself why you are video blogging. If you really have a clear and good answer for that, that can often help you with motivation.

Motivation is very important especially when you’re trying to learn a new skill so you want to keep on going. So ask that question why; why you’re doing this? If you have a really good answer, that will help you for your motivation so that you can keep going.

Step 2 – Set clear goals

The next thing is to set some clear goals of what you want to achieve with this new thing that you want to do with video blogging. For me, with the longboarding example the goal for me there is just to become a proficient longboarder or skateboarder so that I can enjoy it. It’s a nice past-time activity for me.

Similarly for you with video blogging, what is your goal there? Do you want to just be proficient? Do you want to use it for getting traffic or a ton of views on YouTube? Do you want to use it just for branding? What do you want to use this video thing for?

Think about that clearly and set that goal so that you have something to aim for. This is going to help you a lot later on as you grow in your video blogging experience.

Step 3 – Get the right information

Next up is to get information on how to actually do it. With me with skateboarding thing, the first thing I did was went on YouTube and I typed in things like skateboarding techniques or skateboarding for beginners or how to skateboard. That helped me tremendously to just figure out some of the basic things to help me achieve this goal that I’ve set for me.

Similarly for you with video blogging and using online video to help grow your business. There’s a ton of information out there to help you succeed. The trick often is finding the right information that can give you the best shortcuts.

I’ve been doing this for quite a long time now and that’s why I wrote that Report, Rapid Video Blogging to help people follow along the path that I’ve gone through and help them get the shortcuts.

Yeah, you can find other information too if you just google it or go to YouTube. There’s a ton of information that can help you become really good.

So that’s the next step. Find the right information to help you get to where you want to be at. Finding the right information will give you that roadmap for where you want to go, which is very very important.

Step 4 – Get a result

The next step is really where the rubber meets the road. This is where you’ve got to take some kind of an action to get a result. A really key distinction here, this is the one that I learned the hard way with my skateboarding, is that you need to find the action that is really easy, something that you can actually achieve.

With my skateboarding, I tried to do the whole thing all at once. I kept on coming off, it wasn’t very much fun. What I then did was I figured out what are the basic things I need to do to be able to pull this off. And then it was a lot easier. I mastered that first and then moved on to the next step.

The same thing for you, you need to figure out what that next action is for you. What’s a really simple action you can take so that you can get a result. Because once you get a result, you create that feedback loop for you to be able to see whether you are on the right track or not.

This is absolutely critical. This is where the rubber meets the road, or where the skateboard wheel meets the road; whatever analogy you want to use.

Step 5 – Course correct

The final step is to basically course correct based on the results that you are getting from the actions that you’re taking. So if you’re getting a result that is less than stellar, you need to do something to help improve that. For example on my skateboard, if I keep on falling off I know there’s something I’m not doing right. That’s a result, not necessarily a good result, but it’s a result. And that gives me that feedback to be able to course correct.

That’s the beautiful thing about flow. You can have this constant feedback loop so that you can course correct. I think that’s very important. As you’re course correcting, your skill level improves. And if you do that enough, you’ll get into that flow state. Once you build your skill level high enough, once you’ve course corrected enough, you get into that flow state.

The same thing happens with video blogging. Once you’ve gotten over that fear of being in front of the camera, the issues with dealing with the technical stuff, the issue with talking fluently in front of the camera. Once you’ve built up that skill level and get into that flow level, it becomes really really easy and fun to create videos on a regular basis. You will also find that your videos will become more engaging, more effective and more powerful as you go along.

Wrapping Up

Alright, let’s wrap this thing up. There are five steps I believe that you need to take for getting into a flow state for video blogging.

The first step is to ask yourself the question “Why”; why you’re doing this. That will give you motivation for keeping going.

The second step is to set clear goals. They will give you clarity to help you know where you should go.

The third step is to get the right information on where you should go. This will really provide a roadmap for you to get to your goals.

The fourth step is to take just the really easy and simple action just so that you get a result, so that you get some feedback, so that you can create that feedback loop that will help you progress in your efforts.

And the final step of course, is to use that feedback to course correct and to get better, to get into that flow state eventually once you’ve built up that skill.

Hi there! My name is Gideon Shalwick. Welcome to this video where I’ll share with you my latest tools that I use for creating videos like this.

As you can see I am walking here on the Marina; not quite the beach but the place where the boats go. I wanted to record this video for you to share with you how I do this. I think this is the new revolution in video and video marketing.

Apologies for the wind. I might actually start walking the other way and I will just stand here for a bit with the wind behind my back. Otherwise the wind would be a bit of a problem on the microphone. As always, that’s something you’ve got to look out for.

The Microphone

First of all, let’s talk about the microphone.

I’m just back at the office here and I’m showing you the microphone – tada! It’s this little one here that actually comes in two or three parts, depending on your viewpoint. There’s the actual microphone that has a wind sock as well. And the extension cord which is about 1.2 meters long, something like that.

Let me just give you the names of this microphone and this cord; also the link for them are right below, in the description area, if you want to get your own.

This microphone is called the i-Microphone EIM-003. It’s a fantastic little microphone for the iPhone. Trust me, I have looked long and hard to find one that works with the iPhone.

The trick here is that it has this 4-pole connection here. This metal bits here; three plastic bits. That’s very important for the iPhone if you want to get a microphone to work with that. Super important. That’s the microphone — the i-Microphone EIM-003. This one here.

The Extension Cable

The cord is this one here called the Smartline ESL-001. You see that it’s a 4-pole microphone extension cable. I’m not sure if it says how long is this one here. I wish they made it a little bit longer but it’s long enough for these general purpose videos.

What you do is basically plug it in over there. You can put your wind sock on as well if you want to. And then plug the other end of the cable into your iPhone and it works like gangbusters.

A couple of things that’s really cool about this is it doesn’t actually have a battery so you don’t have to worry about your battery going flat with this microphone. You just plug it straight into your iPhone. So that’s a big bonus.

It does come with this volume control thing. To me it’s a little bit pointless. Some people might like using it. And you can also plug in some earphones if you want to.

The Monopod

The next thing that you probably wondering is what am I actually using for holding the camera up. I don’t actually have a camera man with me. I’m holding this thing all by myself.

Here’s the tripod that I’m using. It’s called the iStabilizer. What’s fantastic about this is that you can actually extend it to be quite long. I don’t always fully extend it. The video that you’re watching right now I’m actually just only extending one part of it. It’s pretty cool.

It’s a bit hard to do with one hand ’cause I’m holding the camera with my other hand. But anyway, you can see how you can easily extend this and hold this in front of you with the camera sitting there at the top.

Pretty cool! I love this little accessory. And it’s very affordable too actually if you think about what you are getting in return. This basically means you don’t need a camera man. You can just be your own camera man with your mobile phone as well. Very very cool!

The Camera Holder

And now for the best part, the little thing that actually holds the camera. Of course I’m recording on my nifty iPhone 5, but with this holder you can actually put any kind of mobile phone on there. It’s really cool. Let me tell you a bit more about it right now.

Finally the actual holder for the camera. This is also from iStabilizer. In fact, when you buy the iStabilizer Monopod, they come together. You don’t have to buy it separately. But I just wanted to talk about them separately.

What’s really cool here is that this works with most mobile phones. There’s also a bigger one for really fat phones that you can buy. It basically just screws on to your tripod over there; so you can put it on to any tripod, that’s really cool.

Your camera just goes here in the middle. Of course, I can’t show you ’cause I’m actually holding the camera on my hand. But the camera just goes in here. You can see here it’s spring loaded so it can fit most size cameras. And it doesn’t have a specific width there so it doesn’t matter what size your phone really is, it will work. Once again, the link for this is also down in the description area. Very very cool!

I’ve just found a “beachie” kind of a spot right here by the Marina. Let me show you. There’s actually some sand here… So how did you like that video? Hopefully, it has given you a bit more of an insight of the tools that I use for creating my videos now.

When you look at some of the most successful companies out there. Companies like Apple, Dropbox, Amazon. All these companies have some key things in common. But ones that really stand out for me are these two things:

First, they have an amazing product; the kind of product that people just rave about. And secondly, they have an amazing product experience for their customers. Those two things together: an amazing product and amazing product experience for the customer.

Why are these two things important?

First of all, when you have an amazing product and an amazing product experience for the customer, what happens once people have been able to use your product and experienced the process of using your product, they go and rave about it. They go and tell all their friends about it.

I think in our industry, the internet marketing industry especially, there’s a problem that there’s a massive emphasis on marketing. And quite often you’ll see the marketing of something being much better than the actual product or the product experience. This is something that has really bothered me about the internet marketing industry.

But yet when you look at some of the most successful companies they get the product right and the product experience. Of course, they have the marketing right as well, but it’s integrated with an amazing product and amazing product experience.

This video from Josh really reminded me of that and I really wanted to share that with you. Josh talks about something along similar lines but he’s got a different twist on it. And I’d love for you to also watch the video from Josh.

Hi there! If you’re an entrepreneur from any walk of life, in any industry, anywhere in the world, I’m here today to tell you why personal branding has never been more important than it is today in today’s new economy.

I’m going to give you my three top tips as to how to do it the right way. And why video is the number one ingredient in making sure that your personal brand is a massive success.

Hi there! I’m Chris Ducker from ChrisDucker.com. Thank you very much for checking out today’s video whether it be on Gideon’s blog or on his YouTube channel, or anywhere else for that matter. That guy is everywhere, isn’t he?

Gideon asked me to put together this post for you today because I recently went through transition from a brand named blog across to my own personal domain name. The reason why I made this change was because I genuinely feel that having a strong online personal brand is more important today than it ever has been before in the history of business.

I’m going to be laying down my three top tips for you today for you to be able to launch your personal brand. Or maybe even just take your personal brand up to the next level if you already have one; right now, in today’s video.

Tip #1 – Understand Your Unique Selling Proposition

The first tip I’ve got for you today is to really understand what your USP (or your unique selling proposition) actually is. Fact of the matter is, if you don’t know what you’re going to be talking about and how you are going to be helping people, then you’re going to be just wandering around in the dark.

Tip #2 – Make Your Social Media Profiles Look Consistent

The second tip I’ve got for you today is please get consistent on your social media channels. Nothing drives me more as someone who has been in sales and marketing and branding for the last twenty years than when I see one profile picture on Twitter, another one on Facebook, another one on Google plus, something ridiculous on Pinterest (still hadn’t quite got my head around that one), but nonetheless, the fact of the matter is that if you’re not consistent over all of your online platforms, including your blog as well obviously, then you’re going to look a little bit kind of higglety pigglety; you’re all over the place.

So make sure your brand is consistent. Use the same colors, same images, the same logo, or just the general feel across all of your platforms online. So that no matter where anybody finds you, they know that it’s you and that they can then attribute that to where they might have seen you elsewhere online as well.

Tip #3 – Be Sure To Start Using Online Video Everywhere!

And my last tip for you today in regards to building up your own personal brand online is to please make sure you inject video into your overall strategy. There is no better way at all to get inside somebody’s thought process than being able to physically see you, feel you, touch you almost. Look at that for perspective right there.

There is absolutely no way at all that you will be able to create an impact on anyone as easily, as quickly and probably, quite frankly, as successfully as you can utilizing video.

But…

There’s been a massive shift in the video landscape online in the last six to twelve months or so. No longer can you get on video and just woof along like a talking head in a poor quality video environment.

You see, I have a light behind my camera that basically blinds me but also lights me up as the subject properly. I have a light over here, which is lighting up my background. My room does not look dingy even though I’m shooting this video at 8:00 at night.

I also have this microphone right here, which picks up my sound quality really really well. You see that I got some transitions on my video editing here which just makes the video a little bit more entertaining other than just seeing me sit here in my fancy shirt.

Fact of the matter is, guys, you do all those things and add one very important ingredient to your videos and you’ll be off to the races. And that important ingredient is make sure your videos are topped off by the absolute best 3D intro, outro and lower third graphics that you can get your grabby little mitts on.

For me, I went to the one guy that I’ve looked at for the last three to four years online for all of my video help and tips. And that was who I call my video Yoda, Mr. Gideon Shalwick.

Myself and Gideon have conversed on many occasions. We even actually spoke in the same room at the LA Convention Center last year at Blog World. When I needed really really high quality 3D animation graphics for my intro, outro and lower third, I went to him and his company, Splasheo to be able to put together the absolute best. That’s all I expected from Gideon. He and his team absolutely delivered.

Make sure you top off your online video with a really hardcore, really high quality 3D animation graphics as well.

Guess what?

I’ve discovered a new way (at least, for me) to create stunning looking videos with a white background. Inside this video, I’ll share with you my new little setup and how you too can create videos like this.

Welcome to another video! My name is Gideon Shalwick. Inside this video, I want to share with you my new setup for creating white screen background videos. Something very similar to the one you are watching right now.

Up until this point, I’ve been using a Canon 60D DSLR camera to create my videos to get this kind of effect. The reason I use that is because I had all these nice little settings for the white balance, exposure, focus and the aperture setting. All those sort of stuff to create nice, professional looking, using a white background.

Recently, I got approached by Jules Watkins from iPhone Video Hero. He wanted me to have a look at his course that shows you how to use your iPhone to create really wonderful, professional looking videos. So I thought I’ll give it a go and see what it’s like. ‘Cause up until this time, I haven’t really thought about using my iPhone as professional type of video cap up.

I went through the course and this is the result. This is the result of going through the iPhone Video Hero course and creating this video that you’re watching right now.

What I’d like to do next is show you my setup because I’m pretty excited about it. One of the reasons I’m really excited is because with your iPhone, of course it’s always with you. Whenever you’re carrying your phone with you, you’ve got a video camera with you, as well. Not the case with a DSLR camera, ’cause you’re not always carrying that with you. It’s a little bit clanky, even with handicams, it’s a little bit clanky to carry them around you wherever you go.

For those opportunities here you just quickly want to record a video, you always have your iPhone with you, or a SmartPhone perhaps. I’ll talk a little bit more about that towards the end, so keep watching.

Next, I want to show you my setup; I hope you enjoy it. I hope you can see how simple it is to set up your own studio using your iPhone to record white screen backgrounds as well.

Here is the office space where I’m sitting. It is a very very simple setup actually. It might look a little bit more complicated in the video but I’ll talk you through it.

Where I was sitting before was actually in this chair; I was looking at my computer screen if I had some notes or presentation I was talking about. Over here was a little iPhone recording me. That’s basically the setup.
The cord you see here is just the power cord and the data cord for getting the videos onto my little MacBook Air here after I’ve recorded them. But at some time, it’s powering my iPhone while I’m recording so I don’t lose any battery power. It’s pretty cool stuff.

I will just show you a few other things that I’ve used for making this work. I’ve just tacked a little mirror here so that when I’m sitting in position, (actually let me just sit down), you’ll be able to see me looking at the mirror. So basically, this allows me to see the back of my video camera, my little iPhone. That’s just a nice way to let me position myself while I’m recording.

There’s a way also that you can do other things to start and stop the video. But for me, I just really got up overtime, press record on the iPhone. I’ve got a fancy cover here that really isn’t iPhone. It was not a big deal getting up, pressing on recording, come down and sit.

Other things I’ve got here are some lights. One is sitting over here; and another one over here. These are just two lights of 45-degree angles from where I’m sitting at my desk. And here’s my chair. If I move back a little bit towards where the camera’s position is, you can see a white background and a couple more lights just to light that up to make it nice and bright.

Over all it’s a pretty simple setup; not difficult to set up at all. There are a few little tricks you can do or use the right piece of software to make it all look good in the final production. But I’ll share with you in a second more of what we can learn more about that.

One thing that I forgot to mention inside the little “show and tell” before was the microphone that I’m using. Also, the tripod… The microphone here is Rhode Podcaster microphone that I just plug in to my MacBook Air. I’m actually recording the sound using Screenflow on my computer. Afterwards, during editing I put the video image from my iPhone together with the sound that I’ve recorded on my little MacBook Air.

The iPhone is held just on a normal tripod. I just used actually the swivel container or holder to hold the iPhone. It’s not even a proper thing to do but you can also use other things like the Glif little thing, but this one doesn’t work with my iPhone because I’ve got a fancy case on my iPhone. I thought I’ll share that with you, as well.

There’s a ton of other things that you can do to make your videos look really amazing. There are a few little tips and tricks to get the white screen looking the way that I’ve got mine looking; nice and clean and pure white.

But before I share too much, I like to share with you where you can get access to the course that I went through as well. It’s called iPhone Video Hero by Jules Watkins. Amazing, amazing course! It is my number one video course of the year, by far. I really loved going through it because it has just really opened up a ton of other opportunities for me.

I’ve got something really exciting to share with you. It’s a new feature inside YouTube that lets you get a lot more views for one particular video of your choice. That, and also how you can win one of five really cool prizes, all up worth about $250 inside this video. Keep watching!

Recently, YouTube has just released a brand new feature that I think is a little bit of a game-changer. It’s their new InVideo Programming feature. Unfortunately, this is not available to everyone just yet as far as I can tell. But definitely, partners and perhaps some older channels will have access to it. It is really, really fantastic!

Inside this video, I also talk about how you can make use of this cool new feature even though it might not be activated for your channel.

What is it?

Well, there are two things that they’ve included in this feature. One is the sort of branding for your channel. I think on the bottom corner here, you’ll see a little GS logo of mine. That’s one thing you can do.

The other thing that you can do that I think is even more valuable is push one of your videos, or basically any video, to all of the videos on your channel. I’ll talk a little bit about how you can use that very effectively for getting a lot more views on one particular video or any video of your choice. Really, really powerful stuff! You’ll see soon why I think this is a game-changer that YouTube has just released. So that’s what it is.

How do you activate it?

If you want to go and check out if you’ve got it available, go to your YouTube channel settings, look for the InVideo Programming field or tab. Click on that and you should be able to see those two options for branding your videos and for getting this little video inset thing happening. Very very cool!

Go check it out if you’ve got it and play around with it. It’s really easy to use. Just go through the steps that they have there and you’ll be able to get it setup and running in no time.

How do you use it?

Obviously, the first one — for branding it’s great. You just get your logo in there and it looks great. When people click on the little logo, it just goes to your channel. Very nice!

I am not sure how useful it is, but it’s nice for being able to brand your videos. And it will look particularly nice with the new embed code from YouTube that gets rid of the YouTube player. So instead of having YouTube branding, it will have your branding. Business is going to love it.

For the InVideo one, basically what you can do is select any video on your channel and then decide where you want to place this video, in one of the four corners. And also decide when this little video inset is going to show so people can click on.

You might see mine already over here somewhere. If you click on that, it will open up another video on my channel. This is something that I think is really game-changing because what it means now is this video that you can see here, if you click on that, you can go and watch that video. That video gets displayed on all of the videos on my channel.

Just think about this for a minute, what you can do with this. Think about what sort of things you can use this for. I’ve got three suggestions. Listen carefully because this is going to be important for the little competition that I’m going to run soon. I’ll tell you about this in a second.

The first thing is, obviously, if you have some sort of an event coming up, like running a webinar or you’ve got a live event, you could create a little video on your YouTube channel. Then push it over to your inset video in minutes. Run it for a week until your live event happens so that whenever someone comes to your YouTube channel, it doesn’t matter which video they watch, they’ll be able to see that little video that promotes your live event. Very useful.

Another way that you can use it on a more regular way, is to link to a video that promotes, say, a free report or the free resource that you have on your website. In fact, that’s what I have at the moment, or when I’m creating this video, I’m thinking of putting a little video here that goes to my Splasheo site, for example. Well, it’s a video that talks about the Splasheo site and then people can go and visit my site. Very very useful for sending people to that particular video… Giving away free resource and having a little video that “sells” that. Very useful for that.

The third way, and this is the way that you can use if you haven’t got this activated in your channel just yet. Think about this for a minute. There will be a lot of people who will already have this activated in their channels. All you have to do, if you don’t have it activated is to approach these people, perhaps offer them something in return and say, “Look, would you be willing to feature my little video as your little inset video?” (I can’t remember if that’s the right name, but I’ll check it out. You know what I’m talking about.)

So ask them if they will feature your video (it’s called featured video, I think) as a little inset and you pay them, you’ll give them something for the next month. Maybe someone has a YouTube channel that’s getting a million views a month, or whatever. If you’ll get them to do that, you have the potential to get your little video seen by a million people; a million potential views of people that go and click on your little video. How cool is that?

Even if you have this feature activated in your channel, you can go and do this with other people who also have it activated. Provide them something and get a ton of views on your video. It is a really powerful strategy.

I’m sure there’s a lot of other ways that you can use this little new inset or featured video. I’d love to hear from you, what you think. And this ties with a little competition.

Hi there! Welcome back to another video. Inside this video, I like to share with you the secret little things or tricks that I use to make my videos look professional instantly. I’m really talking about sort of instant little tricks you can use to make your videos look professional.

There are some things that I use inside my videos to help me make them look great. For example, I use a white background. In one of my previous videos, I showed you how to do that cost effectively and very easily. Also, I always talk about getting really good audio; like I’m using a microphone jack here.

But apart from that, there are some other things you could do to make your videos look fantastic instantly. Of course, when your videos look fantastic, people respond to that. There’s a subconscious trigger that happens inside people’s minds when they watch your video and they notice that it has been done professionally, or at least that it looks professional.

So with this method that I want to teach you basically, you don’t need any complicated software. You don’t need to use a professional video editor that’s expensive. And also, it’s something that you can do very, very quickly; it doesn’t have to take forever.

I want to show you inside this video how I actually do that. In fact, without further ado, I’m going to show you on my screen here exactly what I do to make my videos look professional instantly.

Let’s have a look. Let’s hop over to my screen here. What I’ve got here in front of me is the video editing program that I use. I normally use Screenflow for doing my video editing. This is when I don’t get my own professional video editor to do the editing for me. This is one of where I just wanted something really quick and make it look professional instantly.

What I’m going to do here is just import my video files. So I already have three little files here. I’ll talk about them in a second. I’ll just import them, there three little files. Then I’ll also import the actual video that I’ve recorded on a previous occasion.

What I’ve got here now are three files. I’ve got a little intro file; I’ve got a little outro file; and I’ve got a little lower third file. And the other thing is original video that I recorded on another occasion. It’s about a 5-minute or a 3-minute video, whatever it is.

The intro, outro and lower third – this is really my secret sauce that I have here for making my video look professional instantly. You might have seen my current video, that you’re watching right now, or some of my previous videos where I use intro, outro and lower third to just give it that extra lift, to round it off; to put the cherry on the cake, so to speak.

As I said, it creates a subconscious trigger to get people to take your videos seriously; or just to give the impression that you’re serious about your video production side of things.

Let’s get into it… So all you’ve got to do here is basically get your intro right on the front. You might have to just resize things here a little bit. This one, I’m just going to resize it slightly so it fits into the screen. Now, I might add my actual video. Because it’s a little bit bigger, I might have to resize that as well, let’s see. Yeah, it needs to get smaller, a little bit. This is my video. Then I’m going to add my outro. I’m simply clicking and dragging here. This is very simple sort of stuff. I was going to just make it fit properly.

Alright, so there we have it! Now I have my video intro right at the beginning. I have my normal video. And I have my outro. How easy was that to do?

The last thing I want to add is my lower third. I normally like adding it towards the front, normally when I introduce myself as you can see there. Let me just scale it up a bit so it’s about the right size. There it is. So now my lower third will show up here towards the front. I put it right in front of my video so that I could show you the test. Or at least, you will have seen this exact same thing in any of my previous videos. I want to show you this one because it takes time to process it.

Basically, if you look at this now, all I did was I imported my existing intro file, my outro file and my lower third, and also the video that I want to edit. I added my intro; I added my outro with the clip and I added my lower third on top of that.

I mean, how easy was that? The only next thing that’s left is to basically click on export and upload to YouTube and I’ve got a very, very professional result from that. If you want to tweak this a little bit, of course you can have some transition between the intro and your content, and also between your content and the outro, just give it a nice transition between those clips. It’s up to you how you want to deal with them, but obviously, it’s super simple. As I said, once you’ve got these things in place, it just gives your video that extra lift to make it look really cool.

I’ve got mine done at Splasheo. Team Splasheo has done that for me. Just as a disclaimer of course, I am the founder of the Splasheo business. But the team that I am building there is independent from my other businesses that I’m running. The team there has created these files for me that I now just use on all my videos. As you can see, it’s super easy, super fast. Once you’ve got those files, it doesn’t cost you anything extra to use them inside your videos.

As I said, create them once and you could use them over and over, as many times as you want. It’ll help speed up your production. It’ll help your production look a lot more professional. Because of that, you don’t have to hire a really expensive video editor to really give it this nice professional look. Just get these clips done once and use them over and over inside your video.

Before I tell you about that, there’s something else that I’d like to share with you. That is the secret that I see to blogging success. I’ve been at it now for a number of years, blogging actively now for about five years. I’ve seen many many successful blogs. I’ve been able to set up some of my own successful blogs, as well. Not just one, but multiple ones.

I’ve trained many many people to become successful bloggers as well, who go through the training courses that I’ve provided online.

There are a few things that stood out as the common things that make blogs successful. I’d like to share with you this system. I think once you’ve seen this system, it will be very clear to you how this blogging game really works.

It’s not just about setting up a blog and thinking that it’s set and you’re going to get traffic, you’re going to be rich and famous. There’s a lot more to it. There are other factors to this whole system, this whole ecosystem, that you need to think about as a blogger.

Without further ado, I’m going to jump straight into it and show you the system. I’m going to go through my handy iPad screen here and show you the screen. I’ll share with you how this system works.

The Secret To Blogging Success

Target Market

The first thing is to figure out your Target Market. Absolutely critical! You’ve got to get the right target market; when you select the wrong target market, you could spend a lot of time and a lot of money on the wrong thing. And you discover that it’s too late and you wasted a lot of time.

It’s critical that you pick the right target. There are secrets to selecting that and I’ll share with you in a second how to do that and where you can find more information on it.

Content Hub

The next thing is to setup your Content Hub. This is really just your blog. This is your blog. I’ve decided to use video blog for my blog, but you can just have normal text-based blog as well, or an image-based blog, or a combination of all three, or a combination of just two of them. That’s the second thing.

Traffic

The third thing is to start generating Traffic. Traffic from your target audience to your blog. This is why your target audience is so important. You’ve got to get the right audience because once you know what that audience is, you know specifically where to go for the right kind of traffic.

You can’t just get any kind of traffic for your blog. You need to get the right kind of traffic of targeted users. Very very important! That’s the third thing. Of course, you can get free traffic, borrowed traffic and paid traffic. Those are the three main options.

Monetize

The next thing is to Monetize. Once you’ve got your target market sorted, you’ve got your blog, you’ve got traffic there, what do you want to do with that traffic? Obviously, they come to your blog and read your post and watch your videos or whatever it is. But it makes sense if you’re in this for a profit, to monetize it.

There are many different things you can do. You can sell products, you can sell services, you can sell advertising on your site. There’s a bunch of different things that you can do. More on this later, but I have to say that once you have the traffic, you’ve got a targeted traffic from that really good niche, or target audience that you found, making sales or making money from it becomes a lot easier.

Optimize

And then of course, there’s this whole thing of optimizing it. So you can use things like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, search engine optimization (SEO) and iTunes, things like that, to really drive the traffic and exposure home to your blog.

That’s the system. As you can see, it’s not complicated. There are just five things. There’s not much to it. As you can see also, it’s not just about a blog or creating content, there are other things that you need to think about as well to make it successful.

I have just really touched on this topics. There’s obviously a lot more information to this. What I’d like you to do if you want to find more information and see the bigger picture, we are relaunching Become A Blogger program. When I say “we”, I mean Yaro Starak, who was my original launch partner with Become A Blogger. We’ve recently teamed up with Leslie Samuel, from the States, who has generously helped us to recreate all the content.

This whole thing, the Become A Blogger program has been totally redone and I’d love for you to go and check it out. If you’re interested at all in setting up your own blog. Obviously, this is not for everybody. This is more for people who haven’t got a blog and interested in setting up a blog for the first time. Or if you’ve set one up but you haven’t really been able to get success from it, I think this is something that can really be useful.

There is an optin process required. You’ve got to optin to get access to some free videos. We have three or four different training videos that you can get access to.

Obviously, there will be some sort of a product at the end of it that will launch. But for now, get access to the free stuff. There are some really good training in there.

In fact, the first video is sort of just setting the scene going through some of the system stuff. The second video a really amazing interview that Leslie had with one of our followers, who is now listed as one of the top 1% of sites in the world. Google has told this guy that his site is one of the top 1% in the world.

There’s going to be an interview on that coming up very very soon that you’ll get access to when you sign up for this. It’s free. Get access to that for free and learn from this guy. This guy makes, if not seven figures, pretty close to seven figures. Go and watch the interview to find out.

There are some more training, a bit more step by step on how to setup your blog and more of the nitty gritty stuff. That’s all I wanted to say. The secret for me, once again, just to summarize this, is really to have this ecosystem look at blogging. It’s not just your blog, it’s all these other things. There’s getting the right tagged audience, setting up your blog in the right way, getting the right kind of traffic, monetizing it properly and optimizing it with all these social media tools.

Welcome, it’s Gideon Shalwick!

Inside today’s video, I’ll share with you the first video or lesson in this series on how to get people to do stuff for you using video in particular. I’m going to use my handy little iPad here with nice little notes on it. I’m going to share with you on the screen how all this stuff works.

Today’s one is all about reciprocity, specifically reciprocity in video. How you can use that to get people to do stuff for you. There are a number of different things I’d like to cover inside today’s video.

First, I want to talk about:
- WHAT: What is it
- WHY: Why use it
- HOW: How it actually works
- WHEN: When to use it
- WHO: Who to use it on, who to use it with and who it works best with
- WHERE: Where to use it

By the end of this little video, you’ll have a pretty good idea of how all these things work together. And how you can use reciprocity to great effect to help you grow your business in ways you’ve never seen before. This is one of the biggest strategies I’ve used in my business to help grow it to amazing levels.

1. What is it?

I’ve got a little graphic here. I’ll start this out with an example. This is an example that Robert Cialdini talks about in his book, Influence, about this religious group who wanted to get some donations at this airport.

What they would do is they would run up to people and just give them a set of flowers and ask nothing in return immediately. They would just strike up a conversation and throughout the conversation, sort of towards the end, they go ahead, “By the way, do you want to donate to our cause?”

Basically, nine times out of ten or a very high percentage of people would then feel obliged to give something back because they just received these flowers. Also, sometimes they’d give a book to these people to invoke what’s called the Law Of Reciprocity.

This is a really powerful thing. It might have happened to you as well. In fact, it happened to me when I went to visit Hollywood a wee while ago. I was on there and just as I got onto the Hollywood escalators, this guy came up to me and said, “Hey man, (I can’t really Americanize) here’s a CD!” He was a musician. “It’s yours, man. It’s a gift!”

“Thanks, Dude. Really good!” So I walked. Some five steps further he runs back to me. “Hey, by the way man, do you want to buy some more of my stuff? Or do you want to donate to my music video?”

I immediately knew what was happening so I had to give it back. Otherwise, I would have actually have to give him money because of this Law Of Reciprocity that was invoked.

In this case, this would be the religious folk giving people flowers. And then this poor guy here would have to reciprocate often with something bigger than the value of the gift that has been given. This is just incredible stuff.

This is what it is in terms of reciprocity. It’s called the Law of Reciprocity and it is very powerful when you invoke it.

2. Why does this work?

There are lots of theories on why this works. One of them is that it is something that’s been built into us through the evolutionary process where in the past if you were given something by someone else and you didn’t reciprocate, you would be seen as a bad person; you wouldn’t fit into the community.

Even to this day, if you get given a gift by someone that you didn’t expect or didn’t deserve or whatever, you sometimes feel quite obliged, unless it’s your birthday or whatever. But you just feel obliged to do something back. And when you don’t do something back, you feel kind of awkward on the inside and it just seems like an inbuilt sort of function within us, within our cycle.

Unfortunately, a lot of people take advantage of this. There are two sides of the coin here. Some people take advantage of it and that’s why you’ve got to be aware of this so that you can block it in the case where you don’t want to be persuaded.

On other cases, obviously, you want to be persuaded and you want to go along with it. But also when you use it, use it in a way where you know that the other party is going to be benefiting from using this Law of Reciprocity.

Just go and check it; just get the book, if you haven’t got it yet. It’s like 20 bucks. It’s totally worth it.

3. How to use it

The next thing I want to talk about is how to use it in video specifically. It’s okay thinking about it in general sense but how do I use it? How do I recommend you use it in video?

There are three main areas I think you can use it with. You can probably come up with a few more. The first one is Video Blogging.

I use it on Video Blogging. I create videos like the one you’re watching right now as a way to build relationship, obviously. But also to create a slight bit of imbalance. If I keep on giving great content on my video blog, eventually someone would reciprocate by leaving a comment on my blog, for example. Or buying one of my products when I have a promotion. Or visiting a specific website when I ask them too.

So through this Video Blogging process, I’m creating and invoking this Law of Reciprocity to my target audience. This only works for my target audience, by the way. There’s no point doing this on an audience that is not interested in your products and services. I think that is not a good thing to do. Only use this on your target audience. So that’s one area.

The second one is where I would give something away in return for either payment, in terms of contact details or money. Often that would be in the form of a video course. How easy will it be for you to create a quick video course, give it away for free and in return, get their contact details.

Super easy! I’ve done this many many times before. In fact I think it’s even easier to create a video resource and give that away for free than it is to create a written document like a book or report; a video, you can do really really quickly.

The final area where I use it in a big way is the whole commenting area. You’ll see how it works a little bit more. You’ve probably seen me do this quite often where I provide a ton of valuable videos and towards the end, I would ask people to leave a comment because I’ve given them great content and I expect something back from them.

So it’s okay to ask for something once you’ve given. I think a general principle in life as well is give before you ask. It makes a lot of common sense here. Give before you ask because when you give first you invoke this Law of Reciprocity that makes other people more willing to work with you and to give you something back. That’s really really powerful.

You probably can come up with other ways on how you can use it using video specifically in the business. If you like, leave some comments. Why don’t you? I’ve given you some great free stuff. I’ve invoked the Law of Reciprocity on you now so that you have to go and leave some comments.

4. When to use this

There are a couple of places that I use it.

The first one is in-video. This is actually inside my video where I specifically try to invoke this Law of Reciprocity. As you can see here, if this represents the time of the little video clip, this is the duration of the video clip. And this bit here is the main content of the video. The other bit here is what I can call CTA. I like to call them psychologically infused CTAs (Calls to Action) or in short, psycho-CTAs.

I like to label that for this one now, psycho-CTAs. It’s right here, the psycho-CTAs, where I invoke the Law of Reciprocity. I say something like, “Hey, thanks for watching. I’m giving you some great content. Why don’t you leave a comment? Why don’t you go and visit my site?”

I use it only towards the end once I’ve given. So I give first then ask. It doesn’t work when you do this in front. You can’t ask people to subscribe right at the beginning of your video. It’s better to leave that towards the end.

There’s another strategy I use for getting people to watch all my videos. But another part of your job is to get people to watch your whole video so that they get into the end so that you can have this nice call to action. More on that later.

The other area where I use this is in my Squeeze pages where I want to build a list, build some sort of following. Often I have a little video that explains what it’s all about. But then a little optin form there that asks people for their contact details. Once they’ve given me their contact details, they get access to the free stuff, like a little video course or free report, or whatever.

Video works really really effectively because it has this perceived value to it, intrinsic to it. So when you give a video away for free, it has this perceived intrinsic value to it.

There’s probably a ton of other places there that you can think about when you use it in the process. But where else? When else do you think you can use it? Go ahead, leave a comment.

Okay, moving on to the last bit. I’m not sure. I can’t remember if it’s the last one. Oh, second last one.

5.  Who is supposed to be using the Law of Reciprocity?

Okay, so let’s have a look at this. Obviously, there’s you. This is you here. And then you’ve got these other groups of people that you use it on. Obviously you can use this with your customers and leads; in helping you get more leads and helping you get more customers.

Think about how you can give your customers more for free, without expecting anything back but invoking the Law of Reciprocity so that they’ll be more likely be amenable to your request in the future. What can you do to help build up that relationship? To strengthen it? And to put people in a position where they want to do business with you?

What can you give them? What can you just keep on giving and giving and giving to create this bank account of potential to flow back to you once you’re ready to ask for it? Think about that for a minute?

The other area of course are things like Joint Venture partners (JVs) or Investors or other similar groups, other people who could help you grow your business. What can you give them first before you ask them for help?

I often get people emailing me saying, “Hey, can you promote for me? I’ve got this really cool product.” 99.9% of the cases, I say no because they haven’t given anything of value to me. There is no Law of Reciprocity there.

So think about it. If you want to get someone to promote for you, what can you for them first? How can you invoke the Law of Reciprocity with those potential joint venture partners? Super important!

6. Where to use it?

Finally, where to use this in terms of your business funnel? I think you can use it throughout your business funnel. To me, it’s all about increasing the conversion rates. When you invoke the Law of Reciprocity, you inevitably will increase your conversion rates.

What I mean by conversion rates is this: In my business I have two levels of free. I have the first level (Free 1). This is where I have my YouTube videos, my blog content – all these stuff where people can consume my content for free without paying anything with money or their contact details. They can just watch it on my website, on YouTube. Interviews, all sorts of stuff, anything that is out there without requiring people’s optin details. That’s the first level of free. That’s the relationship building thing.

The next one in increasing these conversion rates, the second level (Free 2), this is where I require people to give me something like their contact details. For this I would often give away a very well-crafted free resource like for example, my 92-page Rapid Video Blogging Report. It’s chock-full of really valuable, useful content that people can action immediately.

That’s something I give away to help increase conversion rates. It invokes the Law of Reciprocity. I give something to them and in return they give me something back. Initially, they give me their email. You may have done it already. If you haven’t yet, go to http://www.RapidVideoBlogging.com/ and check it out for yourself.

I get something back from people, their contact details. But if I create a really valuable resource, it helps me increase this next level’s role which is where I start making money, where I start selling my products and have all kinds of different offers.

It’s all about conversion rates. Think about it. For each of these conversion stages here, think about how you can use the Law of Reciprocity to increase those conversion rates. Subtle stuff, but really really powerful!

What to know how to get more out of your videos with using some clever psychological tricks? I’ll share with you inside this video.

Hi there, Gideon Shalwick here! Inside today’s video, I want to talk about Video Persuasion Techniques. There’s really clever stuff you can do to get more out of your videos.

What do I mean by more? I mean getting action from your audience. Getting your audience, people who watch your videos, to take some sort of action — whether it’s liking your video, or leaving a comment, or sending it to their friends, or whatever it is. Some clever psychological tricks you can use to help you get more out of your videos in that way.

Let’s look at some of these things.

Today’s video is really just an introduction to a series of videos that I want to do on persuasion, specifically as it relates to videos. If you do any kind of video, whether it’s promotional type of videos, whether it’s just video blogging, or building your audience, or any kind of video online, you want to pay attention to today’s video and the videos coming up inside this series.

All that I just wanted to talk about is why persuasion is a MUST for your YouTube videos. Second, I want to talk about the six persuasion triggers and what to watch out for. And then finally, let’s talk about how to use persuasion triggers in your videos.

So that’s what’s inside this video. This is by means of an introduction to this whole area of persuasion when it comes to videos. So let’s get into it.

Why persuasion? Why do you want to persuade in your videos?

Ultimately, you want your audience to take action. If you’re a YouTuber, you want to get more subscribers, right? I mean, if you’re creating more videos on YouTube, you want to get more subscribers.

If you’ve got sales videos, for example, you want to get more sales. And for that you need your audience (whoever is watching your video) to take some kind of action. For that, you need to be persuasive. It doesn’t matter what kind of videos you are creating, you need to be persuasive in some kind of way.

Now, I’m not saying you have to be like a sleazy salesman kind of person. But there are some clever things you could do to be more persuasive inside your videos to get people to take action.

You need to get people to take action in a beneficial way though. This is very very important because this information is very powerful that you really be careful how you use this.

First of all, the benefit is going to be to YOU as the video creator. Secondly, you’ve got to think about what is the benefit to YOUR AUDIENCE. That this persuasion stuff is going to be beneficial to your audience. And this third one, it has got to be FOR THE GREATER GOOD of humanity, so to speak, or of the YouTube community.

Keep those three things in mind as you think about this persuasion techniques.

Let’s move on to the six persuasion triggers. I got reminded of this by telling to my friend Derek Halpern from the States, from www.SocialTriggers.com. Please go and check out his site. I’ll list it below this video in the description area. Perhaps, I’ll have it on the screen up here as well, maybe there.

You got to check out his site. Really awesome stuff if you’re interested in psychology and how to help you with your blogging. The best I’ve seen on that topic. Go and check it out.

This is information that’s borrowed from Dr. Robert Cialdini who wrote a book on persuasion and influence. Brilliant book! I’ll link to it below this video as well so that you could get a copy. It’s my number one business book. Out of all the business books I’ve read, this is my number one business book.

He talks about six persuasion triggers. Here they are. I’m going to go through them. He calls them weapons or “triggers”. And here they are.

The weapon of Reciprocity. This is when you give something away for free, for example. When you give something to someone and they don’t pay for it, they’re unexpected. They feel that they want to do something back for you. This is sort of built into our cycle. When someone gives you something, you want to do something back for them. That’s what that one is about.

Next one is Liking. This ties it back to people who like to do business with other people they like or trust, right? When you’re doing business with someone, if you can get them to like you, they’re be much more likely to do business with you. That’s what that one is about, pretty much.

In the same way, if people like watching your videos, they’re going to be more likely to take action when you ask them to.

The next one is really really quite clever. And it takes a while to get your head around it but it’s called Commitment and Consistency.

When you can get someone to commit to something, they are likely to be much more consistent with the commitment that they made. For example, say I were to buy a BMW car. I would want to probably stay consistent with that commitment that I’ve made. ‘Cause when I buy a BMW in general, not always, I want to show that I’ve made it, you know. And if I want to show that I’ve made it, I’ve got to be consistent with that image. So maybe, I’ll buy a suit as well, new shoes or maybe a new house. Just to stay consistent with that original commitment.

I’m just scratching the surface here. I just want to go through this.

Social Proof is humongous! Social proof is all about — us as human beings, we look to our friend and our peers to see how they act to help us decide how we should act. Very very powerful stuff.

Here’s an experiment. Next time you’re on the city, grab a few friends of yours. Go to the city. Go stand in the middle of a mall and just point upwards. If you’re outside, point to the sky; or when you’re inside, just point upwards towards something and get everybody to look up as if there’s something there.

Within no time, you’ll get a group of people looking up and going, “What the heck is going on?”

This is just one of the mechanisms of social proof. ‘Cause everybody is saying, “Hey, what’s going on? Everybody’s looking up, we better look up as well.” Of course, there’s nothing to look at.

But you can use that to your advantage. For example, if you can say that a hundred thousand other people have watched my video, so you should too. Or they liked my video, so you should to. You’re invoking that law of social proof; very important.

Authority is another really really important one. Some people misuse this big time, especially in the medical profession or the pharmaceutical profession. In advertising, they often use doctors or even someone wearing a doctor’s jacket to create a sense of authority. You’ve got to watch out for that.

But you can also use it in a good way, of course. If you have someone authoritative, use it as a seal of approval. That will make you come across more believable, right? All of this, once again, is for the good of yourself, your audience, and for the greater good of humanity. Just keep that in mind.

The last one is Scarcity. People act when there’s a deadline. Critical stuff — people act when there is a deadline. If I were to tell you that I have a really amazing product that you can go and download right now but you only have the next 24 hours to do it. You’re going to much more likely to go and check it out than if I would just say, “Hey, it’ll always be here and you can download it whenever.” That’s what Scarcity does.

So, there are the six weapons. Here’s the caution — use them with extreme care!

I didn’t go through them in much detail. I just wanted to really touch on them because I don’t want to make this video too long. It’s just an introductory video. I’ll tell you a bit more about that in a second. But just peg this in your mind — you’ve got to use these things with extreme care ’cause they really are like weapons. Like weapons of mass destruction.

These are really like weapons where you can yield tremendous influence. The person who recommended this book once told me that you could use this sort of stuff to become like Billy Graham, or someone who does really good like Gandhi or whoever you think might be a good person in the world.

But you can also use this very same principles and forces to become someone like Hitler! This is how powerful this stuff is. I’m not suggesting you go and become like Hitler or anything like that. The point I’m making is that this stuff is really really powerful. You’ve got to use them with care.

They can also backfire. If you use them in a way that is insincere and only for your own self-aggrandizement, then there’s likely the chance it will backfire. Just keep that in your mind.

I’ll go through this later and I’ll explain to you in detail how this works.

I’ve touched on this a little bit about how to use persuasion triggers in videos specifically.

The bottom line is that you want to get people to take some kind of action. Specifically, if you’re on YouTube, there are things like this.

You want people to watch more of your videos, right? So you can use these six persuasion triggers to get people to watch more of your videos.

For example, you can invoke the social proof thing where you can say, “Hey, look how many people have already watched my other videos. Why don’t you go and share this to all of your friends as well, and be part of the cool group.” That will invoke or sort of trigger to get people to take action and do that for you.

You can use it for getting more subscribers. For example, you could use authority. If you’ve got the top YouTuber in the world, maybe Ray William Johnson or someone like that, that gives you the thumbs up. You can mention that in your video — Ray William Johnson approves this message, or something like that. Or if you’re Ray William Johnson, then you could just say that yourself.

Same thing, you can use it for getting more likes and comments, or for whatever you like people to do on YouTube.

Once you start thinking about this stuff, it becomes really really powerful. And I really recommend you read that book. Check out Derek’s amazing blog. He goes into a ton more detail.

Robert Cialdini’s book only touches on those six areas, but there’s a ton more stuff you could do with persuasion, especially when it comes to video and blogging.

There’s more coming up. There is much more. I really really want to go into a lot more detail with each of these triggers. I really didn’t do them justice at all. So what I want to do is inside my upcoming video, I just want to look at each one of these six triggers and go into each one in detail.

I’ll have one video per trigger and go into detail exactly what it is and how you can use it in your videos and how you can benefit from them. How you can use them ion the right way. It’s absolutely critical that you use it in the right way.

I am totally in love with my iPad again! Inside this video, I’ll show you exactly why.

Recently, I’ve re-fallen in love with my little iPad. And in some of the previous videos you may have seen it with me. I showed you how I got that little Bamboo stylus and started using it on my iPad as a note-taking device and a drawing device.

I’ve also shown you how to use your iPad with another computer and showing your iPad screen on your computer screen, which is very useful for all sorts of applications like using it like a drawing tablet. Or using it during webinars, to show what you’re doing on your iPad. Of course, it’s not just for drawing, you can show whatever you’ve got on your iPad screen on a normal screen.

Today, I want to share with you another really cool app that has taken my iPad to a whole new level. That is, using your iPad as an extra screen or extra real estate alongside another computer, in this case, my MacBook Air.

What’s really cool about this is that it’s for both PC and Mac. So for you, PC users, don’t worry about it. It will work for you, as well. It’s not just for Mac fan boys and girls like me.

Basically, the app that you need is called the Air Display App. I can’t remember if it’s free or it costs anything. If it costs something, it’s like $2 or whatever its cost is it’s totally worth it; trust me.

Install that on your iPad. Once you installed it, you just set it up. Make sure you’re connected to a wifi connection. It will bring up the screen where it will show you the little steps for setting it up. It’s actually really straightforward. You just go through the steps. Sometimes it will connect all by itself. In my case I’ve already done it, so I don’t have to do much else to install it.

But you may need to go up here on your computer screen (PC would be a little bit different, obviously) to select your iPad. Mine is already selected because I’ve set this up beforehand. But you’ve got to select your device, in this case it’s the iPad.

As you can see now, it has created another screen alongside my MacBook Air. This is jut wonderful, you know? I can now go to coffee shops and all I have to carry with me is my MacBook Air, my iPad, my mouse and my Bamboo Stylus (I haven’t got it with me right now).

This allows me to have this whole working area, this working space to be really, really productive for when I’m actually creating stuff. The difference now for me with my iPad is now the iPad has become a creation device for me. It’s no longer just a device that I use for consuming content. Now I use it for creating as well.

For this setup, I normally try to throw things like my Skype window on to the side. I just maximize it there. As you can see, this is very quickly. I can now use all my distractions, put them all on my iPad and do my main focus work on my main computer. And it just gives me that extra space to work with.

This setup, along with my Bamboo pen and some other drawing applications that it comes with, the ability to share it with the Reflection app on my normal computer, basically gives me everything I need to create amazing new things or new videos for my audience as you can see inside this video. And it just takes things into a whole new level for me.

Inside today’s video and today’s lesson, I want to share with you something very very powerful. This is the crux of the Rapid Video Blogging system and I want to share with you how all this works.

It basically involves the Growth Strategies that I’ve developed for a bunch of different areas within the whole system that I teach to help you really dominate. What I’d like to do is share with you inside this video how all that works.

THE FOUR KEY GROWTH METRICS

Let me just introduce this by talking about the Four Key Growth Metrics.

There are four key areas that you can grow for your Video Domination Hub.

The first one is to get more views on YouTube. The more views you get, the better.

The second one is getting more videos on your video channel. Remember how I talked about if you can create more videos in a year than everyone else then you are going to be in a much better position. YouTube and Google are going to love you as well.

The third area is to increase your amount of traffic. How much traffic you’re getting to your site, to your blog or optin page or wherever you’re sending your traffic. That is the third area.

Of course, the fourth area is an increase in the number of optins you have to your email list.

So, number of views, number of videos, amount of traffic and the number of leads that you get opting in to your newsletter.

Each of those four areas you can increase a little bit by. The beautiful thing about this is when you look at it, when you do the calculation. I’ve got a spreadsheet or a table inside my report where I list that if you only increase each one of these areas by 30%, I think the overall growth rate in terms of your lead generation and getting more leads into your business is something like 182%.

The whole point of this is that you basically only need to increase each one of these four areas by a little bit to be able to get a really big effect at the end.

They multiply; the effect multiplies as you increase one of these areas. So when you look at it this way as well, it makes it a lot more simple, a lot more easier to see how you can dominate and grow your presence online. Very very powerful stuff.

Let’s look at some strategies now for how you can increase each one of these four metrics. Im going to share with you some core strategies that you can already start using to help you increase them and start getting some really really great results.

METRIC 1 — GET MORE VIEWS

Let’s look at the first one — how to increase your number of views on YouTube. This is the first thing; this is where it all starts. Without those views on YouTube, nothing else is going to work so you’ll need to do some extra ninja things here to help you get more views.

I’m going to share with you seven tips to help you get more views.

Tip #1 — Provide Extreme Value To Your Target Audience

The first tip is based on providing extreme value to your target audience. Remember, this is not “value” as defined by you; it’s “value” as defined by your target audience.

So put yourself in their shoes. Think about what it is they want to learn about; or how they want to be entertained; or the kind of news they want to learn about. Or how they want to socialize or interact with you and have fun on YouTube. Think about it from their point of view and then create your content based on that.

Remember those four areas — you can EDUCATE, you can ENTERTAIN, you can REPORT or you can just have fun and SOCIALIZE. Think about how you can create value. That is the underlying basic thing for helping you to be successful using a service like YouTube.

So that’s the first tip: provide massive value with your content.

Tip #2 — Optimize Your Title

The next ones are going to be a little bit more specific as to things that you can do to help optimize your videos and get more traffic, more views to each of your videos.

The first thing is your TITLE. You need to make sure that it’s optimized for the search engines. What you need to do here is figure out a keyword phrase that people would likely search for when they want to find your video.

This is one of the best ways I’ve found — to find the right keyword phrase. The best way to do this is to simply ask yourself: “What would other people naturally type in to the search engine of YouTube and Google to find your information?” That’s what you’re going to do.

Once you’ve come up with a phrase like that, often it’s going to be something like How-To for the education world. Perhaps for the entertainment world, it might be a name. Like if you’re doing a parody of Madonna, for example: Madonna parody — maybe that will be the keyword phrase that people would type in or the name of the song followed by the word “parody”.

So think about your keyword phrase that people would likely search for and use that in the title of your video. It’s very important that you have that keyword phrase right at the beginning.

That’s the first thing; the title is the most important for search engine optimization. Make sure you get that right.

Tip #3 — Optimize Your Description Area

The next thing you need to do is your DESCRIPTION. You need to look at your description.

I always say this, you may already know this, but this is just very important — always have your link to your site, the address of your site right on the first line of your description area.

Start it off by having the letters http:// and then your website address. Very important; that makes it clickable. When people click on it, it goes to your site. If you don’t have that, it won’t be clickable.

Hello! I’ve got the coolest, newest thing to share with you. It’s a way of sharing your iPad screen on any computer. Interested? Keep watching.

Hi there! Gideon Shalwick here. In today’s video, I’m going to share with you something that I’ve been looking forward for quite a while. And that is how to share the screen of your iPad on any computer screen of your choice.

That has a number of really, really cool applications; if you’re wondering what the heck am I talking about, why would you want to do that. Well first off, when you’re doing educational type of videos, this one for example, you want to be able to switch between what you’re doing on your iPad screen and whatever else, whatever you’re recording. That’s very useful for people like me who are recording videos like this.

It’s also useful if you just want to use it like a Bamboo writing tablet. You can use this like a writing tablet for your computer. Not quite, but you’ll see what I mean soon.

This is really really great. Now, I’ve got a couple of sources to credit for this. The first one is Mashable; on one of their videos, they talked about this little sort of thing. The Bamboo Stylus that you can use for drawing on your iPad. I know it’s been around for ages, but I’ve just got one myself. It’s really really cool. It has taken my iPad to a whole new level.

And the other person I want to credit is Ed Dale for showing the application that you need to use for sharing your iPad screen with any other computer screen of your choice.

How does this work? Let’s have a look.

The basic setup is if you just want to share the screen of your iPad on a computer screen. So I’ve got another computer here. In fact, there’s another computer sitting right there. I can see the same screen that I have on my iPad on my screen over there that I’m recording, by the way.

But if you just want to have a really simple setup, this is what is going to look like.

You are going to have your iPad over here… Actually, let’s get to see how this works in real life. I’m going to use a red pen here. So I’m going to circle this. This is your iPad, of course. Just so that you can see.

You’re running a special app on here. Basically that sends the screen images to your computer screen over here, which is very very cool. This all happens in real time, It’s pretty much instant. You can go full screen on your computer to make it look pretty good. There are some issues with the aspect ratio because the aspect ratio of your iPad is probably not going to be the same as the screen aspect ratio of your computer screen. The other thing that I also use and recommend is recording with Screenflow and Camtasia.

The app that you need for this is actually not something that you install on your iPad. It’s something that you need to install on the computer where you want to share the screen of your computer.

The app that you need for that is called Reflection. I think it’s called Reflection, or something like that. I’ll link to it below this video. So you just click on it and go and get it. I think it’s something like 5 or 10 bucks. How ever much it is, it’s totally worth it because it allows you to share your screen like this which is very very useful.

Say, you want to do what I’m doing in this video, for example. You want to flick between what you have on your iPad screen and what you’re recording on your camera. For that you’ll need a setup like this — an Advanced Setup.

That’s me, sitting at the desk with my little iPad over there. Of course, that is now sending the signals out to my computer where it’s getting recorded, the screen is getting recorded there with either Screenflow or Camtasia, if you’re on PC.

Of course, here’s my camera, recording me. What happens is this is not a real time thing where I switch between the screen on my iPad and the screen of my computer, or the screen that you’re seeing through the camera. I do this afterwards in Screenflow, then I just flick between whatever gets recorded and what gets recorded on my computer screen right now. Well it will be, later on when you watch it. Let’s not going to get into that rabbit hole. In any case, that is the sort of setup that you need to be able to do that.

I’m sure you can think of a ton of other really cool applications for this. I have just found this really really good for educational purposes and for illustration purposes. As you can see, I can be very visual here with my communication and it’s super quick for me to prepare now. I don’t even need to think about creating Keynote slides presentations and stuff. I can just flick between what I have drawn on my iPad and what I’m recording on the camera.

Hi there! Welcome to another video. My name is Gideon Shalwick. If you’ve been watching some of my videos you know that I’m really interested in productivity improvements in my business and that I love sharing it with you, my viewer.

Well, I’ve just stumbled upon something that I’ve kind of known about for a while but I think I’ve stumbled upon something that is a really good implementation of it. That is the little Bamboo Stylus.

Why is this an important thing to mention here?

First of all, I’ve had a problem with my iPad for quite some time now. Really cool little device but it’s not so good for drawing with your fingers and making notes. It’s really difficult. I really wanted to have something that I can draw on properly without using my fingers and get some sort of accuracy there.

Along comes the Bamboo Stylus. It just blows everything else out of all that I’ve seen, including my fingers. It is really an amazing little stylus that allows you to draw on your screen. I’ll be illustrating for you in a minute how this works and why this is so cool.

First, some pros and cons of this little stylus.

Pros, obviously is that, it is much better to use this for drawing on your iPad. you can get a lot more accuracy and draw much more beautifully. You can even use it like a writing tool or note-taking device, which is very important.

It’s nice and small, compact, really well-designed. When you look at the design of this, it is well-designed from an industrial point of view. And it just looks the part; it’s got a nice weight to it and it works well – works really, really well as you’ll see in a second.

It does have some cons that come with it that I’m not too happy with. A lot of other people have complained about this as well.

The first one is the tip. Apparently, that wears out quite quickly but there is a solution to that which I’ll share with you in a second as well. But that’s not too much of an issue.

The bigger issue that I have is that there’s no real way for me to really attach it to my iPad so if I’m traveling, that becomes a bit of a problem because I want to carry the pen with me. But there’s no way to really store this pen. I can’t really keep it in my bag. Well, I can, but I’m scared that the tip might get damaged.

So, two things. No way to really store it with my iPad; and also it doesn’t come with a cover to protect the tip. So if they can fix that, I think this would be just an even better product.

But I already totally love it. As you’ll see the sort of stuff you can create with this is just amazing. Let me show you on the screen here what I’ve been doing.

I’ve already covered, for example, this topic here: The Problem. I’ve covered that now and I can cross that off with my little stylus. We’ve talked about the solution, and the pros and the cons. Now, I want to share with you some of the applications, what you can do with this.

First of all, in terms of applications there’s the doodling. Obviously, if you like drawing things, this is just a fantastic little tool. I’ve seen some amazing drawings from people where they’ve done some really artistic things using all sorts of different applications.

The one that this one uses is the Bamboo Paper App. But I think there’s another paper app around there as well that allows you some more tools that’s been more creative but this is great for what I’m using it for.

The next thing that I’m using it mostly for is for the mobile whiteboarding. This is basically carrying a mobile whiteboard in my laptop bag. So it means I can use this in coffee shops and meetings. Basically, wherever I go I now have kind of like a mini whiteboard that I can carry with me and do brainstorms, do doodling, make notes, do mindmaps, whatever it is I want to do.

I found that this is an amazing way to help focus my mind. It’s a mind focuser – if there’s a word or phrase like that. It really helps me to just get down. There’s something about having a pen in your hand and making that connection on the iPad, in this case, to help you focus your mind, to help you brainstorm and come up with really, really cool ideas.

Amazing for applications, I know there’s a ton more. These are just the sort of things that I’ve been using it for, also note-taking (that’s probably one you could put down there). I’ve taken some great notes using this. With the sort of tools you get with it, you can do anything you do on a piece of paper, on a whiteboard and more.

Let me illustrate a little bit to you. I’m going to open up a new page here just so that you could see the effectiveness of this. For example, I can have the paint tool here and and I can select any thickness. So I’ll just go with a nice thick one here.

As you can see, it’s VERY responsive. You can get a lot of accuracy. For example, if I want to draw a circle I can get right to the other edge without any problems. It’s very cool in that sort of way.

For example, if you want to annotate something, if you want to write, you can zoom in and then it’s basically easier to write because you’re zoomed in. You can choose different point sizes, which gives you a little bit more flexibility with what it looks like. There’s a nice rubber which allows you to rub things out really easily like an eraser, whatever you might call that.

The other thing that I really love about it is, for example, with this application is this little highlighter tool which allows you to highlight specific things. It’s just so quick and easy and it just works fantastic!

With this particular application, you can also add images. Say for example, you’re doing a review for a site. (I just made a copy here of my own site.) You can paste an image in there and then basically draw pictures over the image. So you’re doing reviews and you can write and annotate on it while you’re showing the screen on your computer.

You can do a ton of stuff with this. Very useful obviously just for your personal use. But if you’re teaching like me online and with video, it’s just an amazing tool.

In fact, inside one of the next videos which is the next thing on my illustration, ( I can mark this thing off, that was done)…

Before I tell what the next video is, you probably want to know where to get this pen. Below this video, there will be a link or a number of links which will be affiliate links to Amazon where you can get yourself one of these.

I recommend (this is the solution to the tip now) that you get some extra tips that come with this pen. They are about $5 for a packet of three. That should last you for quite sometime. So that solves the tip problem. The pen is only about $30 so it’s really not a big deal. Great solution!

Next video, if you’re the sort of person who want to show your iPad screen on your computer screen and use this more like a drawing device or like a Bamboo Wacom Tablet Drawing device, you can now use your iPad like that. But there’s a special few tricks that you need to be able to do that. And that’s what I’ll cover inside the next video or one of the next videos coming up.

Hi there, Gideon Shalwick here! In today’s video, I’ve got some big news for you. If you’ve been on YouTube for a while and you haven’t been able to become a Partner, there’s some big news. You might have seen some of the news headlines already but some big news coming up.

So I’m going to talk about that a little bit and the announcement from YouTube. I’m going to talk about how you can activate your account to become a YouTube Partner today. And I’m going to talk about some controversy about this announcement. So keep watching. There’s some interesting stuff coming up.

Okay, so there’s some big news going around the internet. YouTube has just announced, a couple of days ago or so, that everybody can now become a YouTube Partner, given that you’ve got some videos on your YouTube channel of course.

This is a new move by YouTube, I think, to help their revenue increase a little bit. Perhaps they have a few other reasons as well, but as you’ll see, soon you’ll understand why I’m making that statement.

But as a YouTuber you can now become a Partner, which gives you some benefits. Not all benefits that existing (old) partners have, but nonetheless, some benefits.

Let’s have a look at that.

First of all, let’s have a look at how you can create or activate your own partner program. All you’ve got to do is basically go to your YouTube channel into the settings area. (I’ll show you on the screen.) Go and activate you account; there’s just one button you’ve got to click and then you activate it.

Of course you’ve got to have videos inside your YouTube channel to make that possible. Once you’ve done that, you could just basically link your Adsense Account, if you have one, with your YouTube channel. If you don’t have one, just go ahead and create one. Then link that to your YouTube channel.

It’s really as simple as that. And that will then allow you to monetize any of your videos on your channel to get you a bit of an extra income stream. By the way, if you’re not getting a ton of views, you’re not really going to get a lot of money from this but hey, a bit of extra passive income – you wouldn’t say no to that. The good news is YouTube wants to pay you for hosting your videos on their servers. Pretty good deal, I reckon.

In any case, I reckon, it’s worth doing whether you think it’s a great thing or not. I think it’s worth becoming a partner so that you can monetize your videos. For the other occasion that one of your videos might go viral and you can get paid for having ads on those videos.

Now, there’s some controversy here; Pros and Cons.

Obviously, the pros for this is that everyone now is able to monetize their videos on YouTube, which is pretty cool!

Also, you can tell your friends that you’re a YouTube Partner now so it can make you feel good about your channel and about yourself.

I am not sure if there are many other pros just yet for becoming a YouTube Partner in this way.

Now the cons is that you can’t brand your channel just yet. Like the existing “old school” YouTube Partners can do. That’s a bit of a problem but perhaps this is just something that they’ll bring in for new partners in the future.

I am talking about being able to have like a banner on top of your channel that’s clickable and people can go to your website; that’s very cool. Also, be able to have your own banners on your channel and a bunch of other little things like that, that allows you to brand your channel a lot better. But you can’t do that just yet.

The other thing is that you can’t upload your own unique thumbnails just yet. Apparently, that’s in the works as well if you go to YouTube’s page or to the links below this video on the description area. But you can’t upload your own unique thumbnails yet, which is a big request. But that’s coming apparently; very soon. So that’s cool!

I’m not sure of this much else. In terms of much other benefits of becoming a partner other than really monetizing and adding to the YouTube (Google) Adsense program.

Who really benefits? That’s really the question that I want to ask here. For all these millions of people, perhaps over a billion potential subscribers can now be partners and monetize all their videos. What are the benefits here? Let’s just look at it.

There’s obviously benefits for you. As a YouTuber, you can become a partner and monetize your videos and maybe get some money coming in from that. But if you’re not getting a lot of views, I’m not really sure. It might just be a few dollars a month if that. If you’re getting a lot of views, you should have been a partner by now, in any case and so it wouldn’t make a difference.

What about YouTube? Perhaps YouTube is benefitting a lot from this. Imagine being able to monetize all videos now and giving people the choice to monetize all their videos. I’m not sure about this one but maybe they were able to do that in any case, so who knows what is the benefit there for YouTube.

And then the other question asked is – What is the benefit to advertisers? Obviously maybe they get some more exposure now, more opportunities to be seen. Who knows? I’m not quite sure how all those algorithms work with the ads being shown, etc.

This is a potentially really big thing for you as a YouTuber. In the past, you weren’t able to become a partner but now you can. And with the things that they have planned by the looks of it, perhaps they’ll bring up the status of the new partners to the existing partners so that you can also brand your channel and get all the other benefits.

A few weeks ago I had a really key insight about what it takes to become successful, whether it’s with online video, or whether it’s an online based business or an offline based business. I don’t think it really matters.

The key insight that I had was about “masterminds“. How to use them and set them up in the right way. Many masterminds that have been set up in the past have amounted to nothing.

Before I continue with this, just to quickly define what a mastermind is, in case you haven’t come across this.

The first time I came across the idea of a mastermind was through Napoleon Hill in his “Think And Grow Rich” book. Since then I’ve studied some more of his material and also read his “Law Of Success” Series – amazing book series!

Anyway, inside these books he talks about the mastermind as “two or more minds coming together in a spirit of harmony for a common goal“. Those are the requirements for mastermind.

That got me thinking. Because I’ve been to so many mastermind groups that just wouldn’t work out. It could be very frustrating because you get together with some cool people and then after a couple of months, it just dies out.

So the question I had was: Why weren’t these things working?

I think the number one reason why these masterminds didn’t work was because they lacked that one thing of having a common goal in mind.

That got me thinking… Okay, well what does it take to have an effective mastermind then?

Then I thought, well perhaps, the mastermind that Napoleon Hill was talking about is the kind of mastermind you have within your own team; building your own team of a mastermind within your own business so that you can have that common goal. The common goal of making your business successful. The common goal of creating a really cool project within your business.

I thought that was it; that was all you needed to be able to have an effective mastermind and to be successful. But there’s more to it than that because recently I had a chat to one of my entrepreneur friends, Michael Maidens.

Michael told me another interesting thing about masterminds that I haven’t really considered. That is that you do need a mastermind group outside of your own internal mastermind group.

Let me re-define this. So now we have internal mastermind – that’s your own team within your business. Then you also need an external mastermind.

What Michael was talking about was that you still need these external mastermind meetings. People from external/outside of your business to be able to help you achieve your goals. This can be people like business mentors, people that are interested in your success — whoever can help you form this mastermind to help you in your quest for success.

That was a really nice key insight. But the key with that was that it was for a common purpose. So the success of this external mastermind group would have to be tied in with having a common purpose; and of course, everything in the spirit of harmony.

But then there’s the third level of mastermind that I’ve just recently discovered or recently been thinking about more. And that is what I am just labeling as “invisible” mastermind. This is the stuff that happens inside of your head. These are things like goals. These are things like reading books from great minds from the past and using that information to form your own invisible mastermind within your head.

Napoleon Hill also talks about in his Think And Grow Rich book, in the last chapter, how he has set up this invisible group of men (perhaps women as well) in his mastermind group where he would have “conversations” with them just inside his head. He said that was one of the most helpful things he’s done. He just imagined these really amazing people to be part of his mastermind group.

I think those are all really good examples of masterminds; but I guess a really good recent example of this mastermind thing of many different levels is one that I’ve just been involved with, actually for the last four years, but even more so in the last couple of months.

Recently, we’ve just relaunched our Become A Blogger product. We launched that the first time about three or four years ago. Very, very successful! We’ve got a following of about 40,000 people. Now, I think there’s been over 3,000 that have joined us in the Become A Blogger Premium Program.

But that all started with me and Yaro Starak. We formed our little mastermind. That was our internal mastermind. Each one of us still had our external masterminds as well where we hooked up with people who were in similar industry and gave us ideas about how we could set this thing up successfully.

Just recently, we teamed up with yet another person in our internal mastermind, Leslie Samuel. So now there are three of us who were masterminding together on this latest launch of Become A Blogger. We just opened doors to it end of last week.

Once again, it’s just taken off like crazy! We’ve only kept this particular launch internal so we haven’t invited affiliates yet, but already were seeing signs that this internal launch is more successful than our original launch where we invited affiliate partners as well.

This just blows my mind. It’s not more successful yet; we don’t know yet, we’re in the middle of it. But it’s certainly showing the signs of great success which is really cool.

I think the key thing there is that there were three of us in a spirit of harmony working towards a common goal. Those two things — (1) working in a spirit of harmony (2) towards a common goal — are just incredibly important. Without that, you can’t have any kind of success.

What I’d like for you to do is to think about what kind of masterminds are you currently involved in? Are you currently involved in one of these kinds of masterminds where you just get together once a week and there’s no real common purpose among the people within that group?

That’s one of the key things. If you don’t have that common purpose and it’s not in the spirit of harmony, get rid of it. It’s just a waste of time. Then work towards creating your own mastermind groups whether it’s external, with your own mentors to help you towards that common goal; or build your internal mastermind group which is you and your team within your business.

And think about your invisible mastermind as well, where you can maybe consult with these “invisible” mentors just inside your head, sort of like another way of looking at it. Perhaps some people might think it’s a little bit strange. I haven’t tried it all that much. But Napoleon Hill swore by it, of course.

Think about that in its different levels. I haven’t seen anyone talk about it in these three different levels; in terms of creating different levels of mastermind groups to help you succeed in your quest for success.
