The ancient Egyptians were so fond of their feline friends, some went as far as worshipping the cat-goddess Bast and mummifying their pet cats so that they could join their devoted owners in the afterlife.

Thousands of years later we're still worshipping cats, though perhaps not to the same degree as the ancient Egyptians did. Cats make excellent pets because they're fairly self-sufficient, intelligent and often very affectionate - it's no surprise that the cat is such a popular pet, and there are over seven million of them in the UK alone.

If there's a cat lover in your life and you're looking for a great gift idea with a cat theme, here are a few products that make purr-fect gifts for cat lovers, all of which are available to buy online.

Cat Lovers Kit

The Cat Lovers Kit is a gift for the cat itself, as much as it is a gift for the owner! The kit contains an assortment of items that both cat and owner can enjoy, including a laser pointer, catnip, mouse toy, collar and bell.

The Cat Lovers Kit is presented in a neat little plastic pod, so all its contents can be kept neatly together when not in use.

Hairy Cat Soap

The Hairy Cat Soap is cat-shaped and made from pure mild soap, and it works in much the same way as normal soap. However, if you take it out of its packaging and don't use it, after a few days it grows hair.

It's a bizarre little curiosity, and a gift that will make any cat lover smile. If you use the Hairy Cat Soap to wash your hands with, the hair won't grow back... but when the soap has all been used up, there's a cute little surprise in the middle: a tiny plastic mouse!

Control a Cat Remote

One of the most frustrating things about cats - but perhaps one of the reasons we love them so much - is that they do whatever they want, whenever they want. We like to think we're controlling our cats, but deep down I think we all know that really, the cats are controlling us!

The Control a Cat Remote looks like a TV remote control, but it's a little different. For a start, it doesn't require any batteries; it's powered by positive thinking (or is that wishful thinking?) and, instead of buttons that change the channel or adjust the volume, the Control a Cat Remote's buttons provide functions such as "arch back", "remain aloof", "stop moulting" and "eject fur ball".

Cat Crumb Pet

This smart little device is a desktop vacuum cleaner, designed to suck crumbs and other detritus from a tabletop - and it's shaped like a cute little kitty.

The Cat Crumb Pet is bag-less and very easy to use, and at 14cm x 8cm it's the perfect size to fit in the palm of your hand while it clears away crumbs from the table.

Cat Meow Keyring

This charming little black cat makes an adorable attachment to a bunch of keys, or a delightful decoration for a handbag or purse. Press a button and his eyes will light up, and he'll meow.

Cat of Glory Lapel Pin

The Cat of Glory is an Edward Monkton character, and this lovely little lapel pin is a reminder of just how marvellous the Cat of Glory is.

The card on which the pin is mounted proclaims: "And there shall come amongst them a Cat of such GREAT GLORY that all who see it will be sore amazed and marvel at its splendour".

Crazy Cat Lady

Every town has a Crazy Cat Lady who seems to collect stray cats like other people collect stamps.

Our Crazy Cat Lady is a 14cm tall action figure, with an armful of cats, a kitten hanging out of her dressing gown pocket, a wild look in her eyes and a mad mop of hair that any self-respecting Cat Lady would be proud of.

The Crazy Cat Lady also comes with six model cats, which you can arrange round her to really set the scene. And on the back of the packaging in which you'll receive your Crazy Cat Lady, there's a handy quiz so you can work out how close you are to becoming a Crazy Cat Lady yourself.

Anna Clare is Website Manager at ShinyShack.com, one of the UK's leading suppliers of unusual gifts and cool stuff.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Anna_Clare

Everyone likes something a little special and creative. And if you're the one who brought such a gift, even better!

=>Go Au Natural

Using recycled paper or newsprint can be very festive when using pinecones, cranberries or holly leaves instead of traditional decoration. Raffia can be used as the ribbon. The brown paper with natural accents will appeal to the most eco-conscious friends and family members.

=>Is It Mine?

To keep kids from picking up every box under the tree to see which one is theirs, have them dip a hand in paint and mark each of their own gifts with a hand-print once they're wrapped in plain brown paper.

=>Tissue Paper Solutions

Having trouble finding the right color for your wrapping paper? Using tissue paper allows you to get exactly the shade you want for the present. To make the color darker, add more layers of tissue. Create a mosaic affect by layering different colors at different angles to form geometric shapes.

=>Snowflakes and Sparkle

Light weight fleece or felt can be used to create snowflake-like designs on the outside of packages. It can also be used in gift bags with silver or white glitter for a little sparkle.

=>Oversized Gifts

For gifts in oversized packing boxes, don't wrap the whole box. Try these ideas instead:

**Decorate the outside of the box with strips of wrapping paper crossing each other around the edges. Then add bows and ribbons to make the box more festive.

**Use a red laundry bag with some white pillow stuffing at the top to simulate Santa's present sack.

**You can spray paint the box the gift comes in a festive color (remove the present first), and add a beautiful bow or ribbon.

=>ID Tags

Use pipe cleaners in holiday colors to create festive bows on top of presents. Shape them into reindeer antlers, stars or candy canes and attach to bows to mark gifts. Candy canes for Mom, stars for Grandma, etc.

=>Funnies

The comic pages from the daily paper can be used to wrap up gifts for the kids (or for the kids-at-heart!)

=>Two Presents at the Same Time

Use a pretty dishtowel (for a bottle of wine) and tie it up with great ribbon, or use a jump rope to tie up a child's toy. You are giving two presents at the same time.

Use the above ideas to jumpstart your creativity. There are so many unique ways to brand your wrapping style...go for it.

Copyright (c) 2009 Pat Brill

Pat Brill is co-owner of Women's Group Busy Bites - http://www.womensgroupbusybites.com - a blog all about women. To show caring for a special person in your life can at times be challenging and gift giving is a time-honored way of showing that you care for and appreciate him. A romantic gift for him also brings you into the world of his thoughts, where love and appreciation are returned.

When selecting a romantic gift for him, keep in mind that generic and obvious choices are often not as highly regarded as those which show you well know his tastes and needs. One way of adding uniqueness to a gift is to personalize it in some way, such as to have it engraved, as would be the case with a silver or pewter beer mug, or printed with a photo, comment or witty saying, as with a T-shirt.

Men often appreciate practical or useful things, even if there is a touch of humor behind it. So make sure that, if you print a bawdy slogan on his T-shirt, he is the sort of person who would be comfortable wearing the message it carries.

Probably safer as romantic gifts for him are simple items that have every day use, like monogrammed handkerchiefs or pajamas which bear his initials. Whenever he uses them, these will remind him of you.

Another possibility which has a definite personal touch is a gift that can be shared, like massage products and essential oils. A gift certificate (for two) to a health spa also conveys a not too subtle hint of mutually shared pleasures. If you're a deft hand with words and can string some lines of verse together (or "borrow" some classic lines from a famous author), consider printing a beautiful card or booklet that conveys these special feelings and thoughts.

Many men enjoy movies and, although he may prefer action heroes, consider a romantic DVD that also has qualities he will appreciate - and enjoy it together. You might prefer to avoid an obvious 'chick flick' like "Beaches"; think more in terms of a modern equivalent to "Gone With The Wind"!

If he likes to watch a particular sport, you can make a big impact by giving tickets to a favorite game as a romantic gift - and then be willing to accompany him to the game. Followed, of course, by a romantic dinner at home!

Music lovers welcome tickets to concerts and stage performances. Want something more enduring with a romantic touch - would he enjoy strumming a Spanish guitar? CDs or DVDs of his favorite groups may also be a welcome surprise that show you know what he likes.

The key to giving romantic gifts to him lies in your knowledge and understanding of what he likes, as well as what he needs. They have everything, want nothing or expect you to come up with a fantastic gift idea all on your own.

When his birthday, Father's Day or the Holidays approach, it's always a good idea to drop a few subtle hints just in case, for once, he's actually thought about it and has some ideas on what he wants for a gift. If that doesn't happen (and it won't most of the time) here are some gift ideas to help you.

Watch

A watch is a classic gift idea that will always be well received. If he's already got one, don't worry. You can always get him one for special occasions, or for a particular activity. There are watches with timers and step counters for running, watches with radios in and, of course, the diver's watch, which can be used for diving and general swimming - or for just looking cool! Another option to consider is an old-fashioned pocket watch, particularly for the older gentleman.

Solar Charger for Gadgets

This is a fantastic gift idea for someone with lots of gadgets. There are a number on the market and they are getting cheaper all the time. After only a couple of hours, they can completely charge a cell phone, iPod, GPS etc. Perfect for the car, the frequent traveler and the student that forgets to pay their utility bills!

Digital Camera

Unless you know exactly what he wants you have to be careful with a keen photographer. However, for the social photographer the perfect gift idea is a digital camera. You can get a very good camera for under $200 and he will, of course, have great fun just playing with it!

Coffee Maker

There are a number of coffee machines now on the market that do more than just filter coffee. They can make lattes, cappuccinos, hot chocolate etc. They don't have to replace your regular coffee maker and are great for when you have guests.

Beer Kit

For the man who prefers beer to coffee, why not get them a home brew kit? These have gone in and out of fashion over the years mainly because to took a long time to make, it was very complicated and, depending on the brand, it tasted like..., well, not very nice! It has much improved nowadays with some kits only taking two weeks, instructions have been simplified and there is much wider range of beer types available.

Gift Cards

People tend to think of gift cards as a cop-out. However, for those men that are really hard to buy for, a card for a store they will always use will be appreciated. Home improvement, sports, outdoor and electronic stores are all good choices. Another way to show you have thought about the gift is to suggest what they can buy with it. They may not use your suggestion, but they will appreciate the gift more.

As long as you show that you have thought about what to get, he will always appreciate the gift. Good luck!

Tony Connor has been a forgetful last-minuter for many, many years. That didn't stop him starting a website, Bright Gift Ideas, with gift suggestions for everyone. If your looking for something to show how much you love her, here are some good examples of Christmas gifts for women.

1. A nice eternity necklace is the perfect gift to those who want to show their woman that they want to be with them forever. Your girl will love it and it will definitely make you look good!

2. A promise ring always works when wanting to say "I love you."

3. Teddy bears will never die out! Girls love stuffed animals, especially if you spray a little of your cologne.

4. If she had ever told you what she wanted try to keep that stored in your memory. Get what she asked for, she will love it because that was what she wanted initially and because YOU ACTUALLY REMEMBERED!

5. Get her a his/her gift. They have so many couples gifts that it makes it easy to shop for her perfect gift. For example, his/her rings let her know that you want people to know your taken by her and vice versa. There are also tee shirts, hats, teddy bears, and even jewelry.

6. An easy way out is to get her perfume. If you know what she wears get her a new bottle, if not then shop around, smell them. Pick out one you would like her to wear.

7. Take her out shopping. A girl will go crazy if you tell her, "babe for Christmas I'm taking you shopping." Most girls will not believe their ears because lets be real, guys never do this. But hey, it's one day out of the entire year, we have to give in sometime.

8. Get her a pet! A puppy, kitten, bunny, even a hamster. Girls love little fuzzy animals, especially if they are babies. She will keep it for a long time and always remember that special Christmas.

9. Make her a card. Yes guys I said MAKE not BUY. Making her a card shows that you are actually putting in the effort of what to write, how to decorate, and how you feel. She will love it and this will probably get her emotional and most likely you may get lucky.

10. Put yourself in an oversize box and surprise her. Yea this is cheesy and its always been a thought in our heads but in actuality how many guys actually done this? I'm sure not many. Let you be her first, it will make her smile and she will love it. Of course when you do this gift be sure to add one of the previous gift ideas i mentioned. Yea the girl will love it, but we all know that will not satisfy her crave for gifts.

Its Christmas, you know she's expecting more this time of year!

Omar Negron has been studying the art of attracting women and realizes the common mistake most men make. Establishing a home together, getting to know each other, seeing what makes your partner tick are all things that are done in the first year of marriage. Then the first big test comes - what to get for the first anniversary!

The traditional symbol for the first anniversary is paper. This gives a lot of options if you use your imagination. Try to stay away from things like gift certificates unless you know your spouse particularly wants one, or it's very specific such as a spa gift certificate.

Having said that money can be a great gift if it is presented well. There are lots of things to buy in the first year of marriage and sometimes people sacrifice personal things to make a home together. You could actually think of something to stuff the money into that is connected to their interests or hobbies. If your husband is really into cars, you could get a toolbox and stuff one dollar bills into it. If your wife really likes gardening then a garden tool set with one dollar bills in won't go amiss.

Books are an obvious choice. Don't just get them the latest paperback bestseller but get something they will cherish. Perhaps a whole set of books on one particular thing - car mechanics for example. Another option is to get a first edition of a book you know they like - this will have a special meaning for them and could actually go up in value.

Tickets to an event are always a good idea. Go and see a concert or a show. You could precede it with dinner and present the tickets to them in a really nice card.

Along those lines, a poem or love letter can really go down well if written from the heart. Always include another gift such as jewelry just in case though!

If you spouse is into technical stuff or photography a really good printer will be really well received. Another gift along the lines of photography is a photobook, perhaps of your first year together or of your honeymoon.

The first anniversary should be celebrated by both of you so something you can do together is always a good idea - perhaps plane tickets for a surprise vacation at the beach, or even a cabin in the woods.

All it takes is a little imagination and your first anniversary will be a great success.

For more ideas for first anniversary gifts go to First Anniversary Gift Ideas and for anniversary gifts in general go to Anniversary Gift Ideas

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Tony_Connor

It may sound dramatic, but ask your self how many times, while shopping for a father's day gift, you realize that everything you deem as a good father's day gift your dad already has it. Because let's face it, dads usually can afford to buy anything they want, so when you try to find something they would like it turns out they already got it. That sometimes leads us to get something that seems fun or looks cool, but that in the end he will definitely not use at all.

On the other hand, as a dad receiving a father's day gift you usually have to put a big smile for your wife, kids and relatives no matter what father's day gift they got for you, a gift that probably they bought for you after being faced with the above mentioned dilemma. This is when you wait until everybody has gone and you start to look where are you going to store another great father's day gift that has no actual purpose in your life, other than reminding you how difficult can sometimes be to find a perfect father's day gift for you or you own dad.

I've come to find that my own dad, as well as many other dads -including myself- are very fond of useful gadgets and electronics as father's day gift, and I'm not talking about a barking robot or a night vision device, I'm talking about gadgets an electronics with the ability to actually improve dad's quality life so that his smile when receiving that father's day gift will come not only from his deep fatherly love, but from the true joy he will feel after unwrapping that father's day gift.

After a brief survey among friends and family -and of course considering my own taste- I've come up with a small selection of father's day gifts that are sure to please almost any dad in the world:

For the intellectual dad:

Amazon Kindle

This is one device I'm waiting for, and I swear, if I don't get as a father's day gift I'm going to order it the very next day!

I had one of these in my hand a few days ago, and I have no words to really describe how blown away I was from my first encounter with what they call "digital paper". As a father's day gift, this device will make an intellectual dad the happiest man on earth, and will probably turn a non intellectual one into an instant literate; this is without question a great father's day gift.

It's like reading on real paper, only you can carry 1000 books weighing only 10 ounces enclosed within a slim design of 7.5" x 5.3" x 0.7". You can download directly into your Kindle over 120,000 titles, without the need for cables or computers. Its absolute wireless power in your hand. You can't go wrong giving this as a father's day gift.

Right now you can give a Kindle for father's day gift for only $359.

For the dad on the road:

GPS

If your dad's car does not have a built in navigation system, he is surely in need of a GPS. So, there you go, another father's day gift idea that will not spend lonely nights in the garage. An guess what, there are a couple of GPS' at incredibly low prices right now that would make your father's day gift not only cool and useful, but also economical. Take a look at the Garmin Nuvi 360 and 350, as well as the Tom Tom One 3rd Edition.

The Garmin Nuvi 360 is only $239.18

The Garmin Nuvi 350 is only $233.50

The Tom Tom One 3rd Edition is only $144.89

With anyone of this GPS as a father's day gift, you are sure to give something useful that will save your dad a lot of time and gas.

For the dad in the tunes:

Ipod

There nothing much to say that we don't already know about this fabulous gadget and it's potential as a father's day gift. I love iPods (who doesn't) and the good thing is that they are not as pricier as they used to be. So if your dad is into music and videos, this is you best choice for a father's day gift.

Ipod Touch 8GB $284.99

Ipod Classic 80GB $237.99

Ipod Nano 8GB 3rd Generation $179.00

For the dad at home:

LCD HDTV

I think no father could resist the joy of one of these, so no matter what your dad is into, if you and your family can afford to get him one LCD HDTV as father's day gift please do so, and make sure you have a camera handy to take a picture of his big fat smile (and probably loud screams) when he lays eyes on his father's day gift.

Right now there are some amazing prices on really huge LCD HDTV:

X2Gen 42" HD LCD TV - MV42R $689!!

LG 42LC7D 42-inch 720p LCD HDTV $999.97!

Of course, there are other models that I could mention but these two are 42" (great size) and at very low price. Any of these would make the best father's day gift ever!

For the e-dad:

COMPUTER GADGETS

A computer, whether owned by a man or a woman, is pretty much like a lady: it's always craving for new accessories. Therefore, your father's day gift -if your dad uses a computer- could well be one of the newest and most popular computer gadgets:

Logitech diNovo Edge (this is the must stunning wireless keyboard you have ever seen, no kidding), and it costs $139.99, but believe me, it's worth every penny.

Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks $48.99

This selection of popular and high quality father's day gifts can be found at UshopOnSale.com. Make sure your father's day gift ends up spending a lot of time with your dad and not in in the darkness of a garage or basement, so give him something he likes!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Alex_Cadens

Fact is you thought of him, fact is you wanted to give him something, fact is you actually did go and get or make something for him. All of that is utterly precious to your dad. Nothing will diminish that.

If you're looking to move it up one notch and aim to give your dad something a little more unusual, perhaps a little more surprising, or fun, here are three itsy bitsy things you'll want to steer clear of:

1. Going too far out there

Even when wanting to surprise your dad, aim to push his comfort zone in very small doses.

For example, if he's not outdoorsy and never has been, he probably won't immediately start going off camping at weekends because you got him a luxury four-man tent. He may however go with you on a gentle walk broken up by a fabulous picnic you have packed up. Just you and him. You take a photo or two and you both have a precious memory for ever.

Also he just may start taking himself off on these kinds of walks. So you then get to give him a good pair of walking boots the next time you get him a gift.

2. Guessing his size

If you've seen a fabulous article of clothing you know your dad will love, and you want to get it for him, don't just guess his size. Don't accept a guess from his wife or partner, either.

Yes, he can always go back and change it if it doesn't fit right but what if he really doesn't enjoy shopping? What if he can't get this gorgeous color he's already fallen in love with, in the correct size?

If possibly, you want to avoid all this faffing around afterwards.

And you can.

With this super tip, you'll avoid this mistake completely. Okay, okay, the tip ...

From your dad's wardrobe, get an outfit your dad wears often and you know fits him well. Measure it. Then take your measurements to the clothes shop and measure every item before you buy.

That's it.

3. Getting the man-equivalent of the last sad-looking bunch of wilting carnations from the gas station forecourt

Which is - the key chain snatched from the auto parts counter, just before the other crazed soul lacking in the father's-day-gift-department could get it.

If it is very last minute and you still haven't got a clue, a gift token from your dad's favorite shop will be treasured. He probably already has his eye on one or two items. So he'd be overjoyed to trot in and get it.

To put a huge smile on your dad's face, you want a father's day gift with an edge. Here are some fresh, unusual ideas for what to get dad for father's day.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Tessa_Green

Fortunately, most men have similar basic needs and wants that don't change much, regardless of their age or situation. This Father's Day gift buying guide will help you figure out how to buy a Father's Day gift that will tell Dear Old Dad that you care -- specifically, that you care enough to think about what he would really like to receive on Father's Day.

Electronics -- Gifts for the Techno-Dad

GPS
Men don't like asking directions, so help Dad get where he's going with a global positioning system. A basic handheld GPS or mobile GPS unit displays coordinates over a map. Fancier GPS systems go from a simple dash-mount GPS navigation system to multi-component in-dash car audio-video units loaded with everything you want and a few things you may never figure out.

LCD TV
Most LCD televisions are called flat panel televisions because they are thin and light enough to hang on the wall like a painting. LCD technology has seen huge improvements in recent years and LCD TVs are becoming the most popular TV set. Big screens are fabulous, but not a necessity -- a 26-inch LCD TV is affordably priced and works in most rooms. For the serious movie or sports fan, a 32-inch to 42-inch wide-screen HDTV is a thing to be envied. If you have a very large TV room or just like your action life-size, go 52 inches or bigger!

Home Theater Audio
If Dad already has a widescreen TV, well, what's dazzling video without astounding audio? Pick out a home theater! For small rooms, a home-theater-in-a-box -- a package containing the amplifier, tuner and speakers -- is enough but not too much. For Dads who never shout, "Turn your stereo down!" go with surround sound speakers -- a multi-speaker system identified by number: 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1; the ".1" is the subwoofer (the deep notes); the other number is how many speakers are in the group. Spread them around the room and they'll reproduce theater-quality audio.

iPods & MP3 players
Dad probably grew up with "boomboxes" or "ghetto blasters," big radio-cassette tape players. Today's Dad still wants to listen to Elvis Presley or Johnny Cash or Rachmaninov (or maybe SheDaisy), but on pocket-sized iPods and MP3 players. iPods help keep distractions down while working. MP3 players make excellent companions driving or exercising. If music isn't Dad's thing, help keep the gray matter from getting stale with audio books.

Video game consoles and games
Lots of Dads grew up with video games then outgrew them. Now that they have children to game with, video games make brilliant Father's Day gift ideas. A new video game console can be a great way to get some one-on-one time with each child. It's also a way for Mom and Dad to keep an eye on the video games the kids are playing.

Sports -- Gifts for the Active Dad

Camping
Think you've run out of Father's Day ideas because Dad has a room full of electronics? Here's an idea: Turn them off! That's right, shut them down, throw the kids in the car and take to the great outdoors! What good is a Father's Day present that brings the whole world into your living room if you never get out and experience the real thing? Fishing gear gifts or camping gifts for Dad can be simple and economical, or you can buy enough camp gear for a crusade. (By the way, if Dad really isn't the Lewis and Clark type, Mom might still get him to pitch a family tent in the backyard, if she buys a cozy double sleeping bag to go with it!)

Golf
Whether Dad is a duffer or the local club pro, if the man likes his links, he needs something. (Don't buy him golf lessons unless he knows he needs them.) Fortunately, the great thing about golf gifts is the range -- not the driving, range, the price range! They start with useful, inexpensive gear like rangefinders and electronic scorecards, going all the way to a golf club set including the best handmade woods or latest high-tech irons.

Do the Q!
BBQ, that is. Barbecue may be America's most popular lawn sport, and like any great athlete, the right equipment is important in making the point spread. A classic charcoal grill or a new-style gas grill plus grill accessories are cooking essentials that abound in the home store. By the way, Dad will enjoy this even more with Father's Day baskets full of gourmet foods, tasty treats or other goodies!

Games
Dads work hard, so they appreciate Father's Day gifts that help them relax. "Poker night with the boys" is more common in late night reruns than most suburban homes, but it hasn't gone the way of the vinyl record yet. Poker is more than just a way to trade money; it is something to do with the hands while men talk about manly things. Dad doesn't gamble? Not a problem with the many indoor games on today's market. Board games include chess, backgammon or darts. For the bigger game room, a billiards table or billiards accessories. They are all gift ideas for Dads they will be grateful for every time they play.

Other gift ideas -- Gifts for the hard-to-buy-for Dad

Gear and gizmos work for most Dads, but not all. Personalized Father's Day gifts -- meaning gifts that reflect Dad's personality, not just something with his name or initials -- require thought. For Dads with other tastes, Father's Day can be an interesting challenge:

Superior style
Men's clothing and men's jewelry are great choices for the Dad who's serious about his appearance, but it can be tricky. Solid research for truly personal items means you avoid the ever-present Father's Day gift-giving risk -- getting something you like instead of something Dad likes. Some Dads always dress casual; some always dress for business; some like to mix it up. Whatever his taste, there are plenty of Father's Day gift ideas in the clothing store (especially in the designer section!). Likewise, the right men's jewelry, including fine men's watches, could be a Father's Day gift that really hits the mark; one he'll wear for life and could become a treasured family heirloom.

Academic advancement
For Father's Day ideas for the practical Dads whose business or profession demands they keep up with the latest advances, or for Dads who simply like a good tale well told, choose something from among the classics or latest releases in books, movies, music and videos.

"Back in my day..."
Is Dad waxing nostalgic? Is he always talking about "the way things were"? If so, maybe a retro-gift is the Father's Day gift he'll love. Get him a candlestick telephone, a collectible framed photo showing someone he admires, a collegiate souvenir or something else to remind him -- with a gentle smile -- that's he's getting on in years.

The Pro from Dover!
Is Dad a professional man? Most professionals still carry briefcases or attache cases and these do wear out eventually. Practical gifts are excellent Father's Day gift ideas for the practical man. Pick a prime-leather business case or some new luggage.

What's his size?

Getting the right size can be a tricky proposition. If you want to get personalized Father's Day gifts like clothes that really fit well, take a look at what Dad wears most often. Generally, this is what fits him best. If you can't measure the Man, measure the clothing.

What doesn't work on Father's Day?

A keychain -- unless it contains keys to a new car, leave this one at the auto parts counter.

"Oh, I don't really want anything." Yeah, right.

Phoenix Roberts has been a journalist, freelance writer and desktop publisher for over 10 years. All of a sudden our minds draw blanks. We have ideas that seem great for about 0.3 seconds and then it dawns on us that the presents we're considering are bland, predictable and most importantly lacking in that special thing - the personal touch. But why is that so important?

Compare these two fabulous gifts: (1) a day spent throwing a screeching Lamborghini around corners at breakneck speed; (2) a day being pampered and massaged in a country retreat with scented candles and whale songs, where bath robes and flip flops are the height of fashion. Any father would be thrilled to receive either from their son or daughter, wouldn't they? Well, no. For some dads, the idea of firing up a V12 and burning some rubber will cause the involuntary rolling of eyes and stifled yawns. For others, any activity that results in a lowering of the heart rate is a pointless, overindulgent exercise. Getting the wrong Father's Day present for Dad will just go to suggest that you're confusing the things he would like with the things you would like. Straight away, you've failed the personal test.

So we've established that however magnificent and expensive a present is, if it's not bought with him in mind, it's like giving a fry-up breakfast to a vegetarian. To be truly personal in your gift buying means avoiding stereotypes of "what dads like" and thinking about the actual person you're buying for. If you get it right, you'll certainly have made a grand gesture, no matter how much you've spent.

We all have experience of receiving presents that show that the giver doesn't actually know us all that well. If the present is everyday and neutral, like chocolates, a good bottle of wine or a gift voucher, it's fine. Quite often they are things that you like but rarely buy for yourself - and it would be ridiculous to assume we know everyone intimately. But when the gift tries to tap into your personality but misses by a mile, it can end up being quite embarrassing, especially when they see it on eBay a couple of days later (bundled with last year's present).

Buying a Father's Day present isn't like playing golf. You don't take a drive down the fairway and then chip and putt your way to par. You have to get a hole in one every time. So now is the time to start really thinking about the things that excite your dad. How does he spend his weekends and evenings? Does he follow sport or hate it? Is he just happy to spend time with his family (or, if they've flown the nest, your mum)? Is he a gardener? A culture vulture? A thrill seeker? A cinema-goer? A wine connoisseur?

One thing that can be guaranteed is that once you've really given some thought to the loves of his life, finding an appropriate gift will be that much easier. Most importantly, it will be personal. And when you're showing someone how much you love them, that's the most important thing of all.

Written by John Smith who runs GettingPersonal.co.uk - an online gift retailer who specialize in Fathers Day Gifts and unusual Gifts.
Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jonathan_A_Smith

Personalized Father Gifts from PersonalizationMall.com

When you were first told that a couple's first anniversary would be celebrated by the gift of paper, you laughed, didn't you?

On the face of it, your mirth was probably justified, especially after you'd heard wondrous tales where anniversary gifts of gold and ruby and silver and pearl were offered in recognition of the couple's prolonged togetherness.

And you probably were about six years old, at which age paper conjures up paint daubs, papier mache, unseaworthy boats and glue.

But once you reach adulthood and you need to actually buy a paper anniversary gift, it does dawn on you that you can really come up with a sensitive and meaningful present that celebrates perfectly their 365th day of wedded bliss.

In fact, it could well be your first opportunity to display your imaginative prowess after the rigid dogma of the wedding list. So ignore the husband's predictable request for a blank check and the wife's for a wad of notes and get thinking with a little help from our guide, of course

Paper Anniversary Gifts whatever you want it to be

Of all the anniversary gifts, paper has to be the one with the most diversity attached to it.

First, the paper itself can be the gift, in the form of a Personalized Anniversary Calendar, for example, or a presentation set featuring a Personalized Anniversary Newspaper from the day of the wedding (when they probably had other things on their mind).

Second, something paper-related can be given how about a special anniversary paperweight that will be a constant reminder of the day?

Third, and this is where it gets really exciting, the paper can be a ticket or pass to some amazing experience day that the couple will remember for years.

It's a gift that comes twice once when it's given and once when it's redeemed. Because you know the couple best, you'll have a good idea what kinds of activities they'll like, and there is plenty of choice on the internet from a West End show and meal to a serene balloon flight, from wine tasting to a personal cookery demonstration.

Finally, you can choose to feed all paper connotations into the shredder when buying first 1st Anniversary Gifts and just choose something that will bring a smile to their faces, like a pair of champagne flutes and some bubbly to overfill them with!

And if you're buying an anniversary gift for your spouse, why not try a romantic gift that only you would choose for the person you've committed your life to.

Go on give someone an Anniversary gift with a smile...

Written by John Smith who runs GettingPersonal.co.uk - an online gift retailer who specialize in Anniversary Gifts and unusual Gifts

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jonathan_A_Smith

More first anniversary gifts

In the end, you may come up with more ideas than you can possibly use and have fun in the process. It's important to begin by thinking about her likes and dislikes. If she does a lot of traveling, you can use that as a focal point when looking for gift ideas.

For example, when she travels she is going to have to sit for long periods of time. This can cause her pain in the back and legs. Pillows made for this purpose are great gift ideas for her. A vibrating lumbar cushion can help alleviate her back pain and tension. A neck pillow can help her get some rest while she travels. Small travel pillows that fit in her luggage are gifts she will appreciate.

Having a sturdy set of luggage is important, especially if she travels frequently. Start by take a look at her current luggage; keeping in mind her travel habits. Does she have appropriate bags? You may want to pick up a new carry-on bag for her, or a larger set of luggage.

If she has special needs, take those into consideration as well. She might need a small, locked bag for her medications. A travel jewelry case can be a handy gift idea for her so she won't lose her jewelry while away from home or go to bed wearing her fine jewelry and risk breaking or losing it.

Does she have adequate space for her wardrobe? If not, this creates many other gift ideas for her. Her wardrobe may get wrinkled in her current luggage, so she may need to bring an iron with her. If she often keeps her clothing in travel bags, she may be able to use a linen sachet containing her favorite fragrance. This gift will keep her clothing and luggage smelling fresh.

If she flies frequently, the carry-on restrictions on liquids make it difficult to bring along make-up, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Travel kits with iron, hairdryer and toiletries are helpful. These kits come with small containers so she can take her own soaps, lotions and other toiletries along with her. Creating a travel makeup bag with small versions of the products she uses is another helpful gift idea for her. Bottles of perfume, hairspray and other liquids aren't allowed on flights, so if she travels a lot you could look into the current regulations to see if there is a travel pack you can get for her that she can carry in her luggage.

Traveling means that she will likely be away from her home at night. A small travel alarm is helpful to keep in synch with the rest of the world; just one of many travel gift ideas that can help. There are also fashionable passport covers. Many offer storage for her credit cards and checkbook.

Overseas travelers have to deal with different types of electrical outlets. Plug adapters are unique gift ideas that allow her to use her hair dryer and iron while out of the country. A portable DVD player and a few movies can perk up her business trips. If she enjoys scenic views and wildlife, a set of binoculars is something else to consider when shopping for her.

A digital camera to record her travels is one gift idea she is sure to love. Choosing a camera that can handle still photos and video is nice, but if she is a big fan of video clips you might want to buy her a video camera instead. Both have their advantages. If she likes printing her own pictures, you can buy her a printer and camera package.

To get her work done while on the road, you can buy her a laptop computer. Of course, there are many different styles, models and brands to choose from. Before making your purchase, be sure to get some insight into how she is likely to use her computer while traveling.

GiftIdeasDirect.com is your source for information on gift ideas for all occasions. Keep on reading and you will find out what to give. The gifts will not be very expensive. But once you give them, the receiver will find that you can't put a value on these gifts.

All it takes is a little inspiration to create a perfect wine lovers gift.

There are two basic principles a gift should conform to. The first principle tells us that a gift should be able to give a hart warming feeling to the receiver. The second principles tells us that a gift should be cost effective. Cost effective does not mean a gift should be cheap. It can't be stressed enough that you should never buy a gift just because it is cheap. A gift should be worth the price you pay for it.

To focus on the first principle a bit, to give something that touches the receiver we should know what he or she really likes to get and which also tells a personal story. You should really do the best you can to find that special and personal gift.

Let's take a look at what a wine lover would like to receive. Maybe you could get a rare but not to expensive bottles of wine and add some food items that go well with the wine you've chosen. You could also add some wine accessories and have them engraved with a monogram, this would give it that extra personal touch.

Maybe we should think outside the wine bottle and look at gifts that are related to wine. You could give a lovely bottle of wine and some nice looking good quality crystal glasses. Put a lovely hand written toast on a card and you give it that personal sentiment.

Another great gift would be a gift basket. Become a private investigator and try to find out those little wishes the receiver has and put those items in the gift basket. Maybe the person for who you are creating this gift has a special bottle of wine he or she wishes to taste, wants that special recipe book about creating dishes with wine, special crystal glasses or wine accessories.

And if you want to be really trendy you should go for those little miniature wine bottles. If you want to give a few, 12 or 18 you should buy a few bottles every month. But once you have them all together and present them as a gift to that wine lover friend then they will know that you just went the extra mile for them.

Never forget the second principle, a gift shouldn't or doesn't need to be expensive but make sure it doesn't look cheap. It should be cost effective. Try and get the most effect with the least cost. In the end it should be about the thought behind the gift and not about the price. Make it personal and make it about wine, we are talking about wine lovers.

Jean Bolton loves to give gifts and wine is her favorite. She shows at http://www.worldwidewinegifts.com what you can do with wine when it comes to giving.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jean_Bolton

How can you look like you spent a lot while spending just a little?

The trick here is to be a good gift-giver and to buy quality items only when they are discounted. Here are some tips for doing just that:

First, good gift-givers always have a secret hideout in their home (either a gift closet or even just a gift shelf) for gifts they have purchased for people throughout the year.

Sometimes, a gift in your gift closet will be so good that you won't be able to stop yourself from presenting it early (and that certainly doesn't save you any money) but the experience will probably be worth it nonetheless.

Now stock that gift closet, but not all at once. Throughout the year, pick up items that you know your recipients will love. When you get just the right gift for a person, you won't be so focused on how much you spent.

A big part of being a good gift-giver comes from simply paying attention. When you attend or hostess children's birthday parties, make notes of what gifts got the most oohs and aahs from the party guests. Make notes throughout the year and keep a written file (mine is the back page of my Daytimer) with ideas of things that people have mentioned that they enjoy or would like to have. Then, when those items come up for sale, snag them at a discount.

Don't get overwhelmed by trying to buy everything at once. One trick I heard from a person who has 20 grandchildren: At the time of each child's birthday, she buys two gifts. She gives one to the child for her birthday and wraps the other for Christmastime. Once the holidays hit, her spending and wrapping are done.

Sign up for email notifications at your favorite gift stores. If you have a favorite boutique or gift specialty shop, make sure that you are on the store's mailing list. Some of the big online gift specialty stores have huge sales (with markdowns as high as 70 percent) at certain times of the year. It's a great time to stock up on things.

Stock up on gift wrap when you see it on sale, too. You can often snag great deals for this type of merchandise at craft supply stores (instead of specialty stores and gift stores).

And don't limit yourself to stuff. Often the best gifts aren't things at all, but experiences. A couple of ideas: Spa gift certificates or (here's one that is always a hit) a "date night" for a couple with young children (with certificates for babysitting, dinner, and movie tickets).

Also remember that a personal touch goes a long, long way. People love to receive handmade or personalized gifts. Even if you aren't adept at making such things as candles or jewelry, you may be surprised at how easy (and fun) these types of crafts are once you get started. Or you can keep the gift simple and jazz it up with a tin of homemade cookies or a thoughtful handmade card. Another idea: create a simple photo gift, which today's online photo processing sites make as easy as clicking on a photo and your choice of gift. Any creative, personalized touch makes a gift so much more memorable and doesn't cost much at all.

More than your gift, a person will treasure the notion that you have invested time, thought, and energy into the relationship by taking the time to find that perfect gift. Take pride in your ability to be a good gift giver. Take that time and invest that energy, and you'll tend to spend less money.

Jamie Jefferson writes for Momscape.com and Susies-Coupons.com, where she shares the web's best online coupons and promotions for discount gifts including Red Envelope coupons.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Jamie_Jefferson

Here are some classic examples of what your gift says about you:

Personalized coffee mug - You want to make sure that everyone at his office knows that you are his favorite child. No creativity points, but vanity points galore!

Designer wallet - You want to remind your dad that you are no longer the financial drain that you used to be. Now you actually have the budget to get him a fancy gift, provided you didn't use his credit card to buy it. Well done!

Tie that says "World's Best Dad" - People still give this gift on Father's Day?! Jokes and clichés aside, you are the slacker child who can't garner enough effort to get dad a gift he will enjoy or wear in public. Try harder next year!

Photo personalized apron - By using an embarrassing old picture of your dad, you will make him (and everyone else) laugh whenever he's trying to guard the grill and impress the family with his culinary expertise!

Father's Day e-card- Practical and efficient. In reality, you saved time, money and gas, by eliminating a trip to the store, but still managed to show your dad how much you appreciate everything he does. Not bad!

Special dinner - You've shown off your hospitality and culinary skills, which your dad is certain you inherited from him and not your mother, by hosting dad at your home for his favorite meal. Extra points are granted when you remind him of the special night with a customized dinner invitation and treat him to a restaurant experience at home.

Restaurant gift card - Even though you don't win the prize for the most unusual gift, who can say no to a free meal? Complete this gift with a printable Father's Day card to add that personal touch. Bravo for practicality and usability.

Sporting event tickets - Every man has his favorite sports team so this is a no-brainer. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to catch up on life and spend some quality time together. Just hope you've won him over completely, so he chooses you to go with him. Well thought-out and fun!

Clothes - You are a fashionista (or control freak) who is capitalizing on this opportunity as a subtle way to remind your dad that his wardrobe needs to be brought into the 21st century. Be sure to add a note about not wearing socks with sandals!

Father's Day card - You are traditional, however, your options to be thoughtful are endless. You can create your own Father's Day card online and go that extra mile by personalizing it with a photo. You get extra points if you take the time to actually read the inside of the card before you sign and seal the envelope.

Book - Okay, there are two sides to every story. If it is a book by his favorite author or the newest war story for the history buff; then way to go. If it is a random book that has no relevance to your father's interests; then some quality time to find out what he really likes will be more worth your while!

If you are starting to worry about finding that one-of-a-kind gift for your father or grandfather, take a minute to relax and think about what your gift says about you. Are you the slacker son, the ever thoughtful daughter or the practical grandchild? Even if your dad is the most difficult man to shop for and finding a decent gift is near impossible, by starting your Father's Day gift search now you will find some new ideas to ensure a fun Father's Day to come.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Mary_Malbasa

If you're looking for a personalized gift that will be remembered forever then why don't you buy and name a star. I'm serious you can actually go out and name a star after somebody or, even your self.

Stars make great gifts for many occasions, to show you what I mean, I would just like to give you three occasions, and where giving a star to somebody would go down a treat.

New Baby - Why not buy and name a star for the little nipper? This is a nice occasion to do the star naming thing. The beauty of naming a star for somebody, is that it will last forever, and it is a symbol to welcome the new baby into the world. The best part is, that he now has a prime piece of galaxy real estate named after him, how cool is that?

Birthday - If its somebodies birthday and they were born before star naming existed, then now is the perfect time where naming stars, would make a very nice gesture. A good thing about doing this on a birthday is that you can really personalize it. For example you could pick the constellation that represents the month they were born. Some places even let you choose when the star is visible.

Anniversary - The reason why I think that this makes a great occasion, is again because you can really make this very personal even down to the stars meaning. In this case you could choose the constellation Cygnus which is the symbol for kiss.

These are just a few ideas that I think make great times to buy and name a star for somebody. As you can see, you can create extremely unique gifts by selecting different constellations depending on what you wanted the gift to signify. Clearly you can create one of the most unique memorable gifts by naming a star for that someone special.

Running short of ideas for that special gift? Many of them have moved to smaller homes and don't have a lot of room to display additional decorative items or store items that might be used only occasionally. Many already have most of the things they truly need or want.

Yet, those very problems in choosing a suitable gift can actually point the way for us. Since they may not want another collector's item, purse or tie, and since they don't want to store another kitchen gadget, think about giving what everyone enjoys. Food!

I suppose you could give them a can of green beans or a jar of pasta sauce, that's not really what I had in mind. Some of our older beloved family members and friends are living on a fixed income. Chances are good that they don't buy themselves many edible luxuries, so steer yourself to the gourmet isle of your online marketplace.

For someone adventurous, consider a fruit basket filled with exotic fruits. Remember that what is exotic in one location may not be in another. My mother lives in Florida, where there are many delicious fruits in the super market. She would enjoy a gift of oranges as much as anyone, but I have an opportunity to send her carefully selected apples and pears from the source.

For others, a selection of imported or domestic artisan cheeses would be very welcome. My aunt prefers flavors that are not too intense, so I might choose a gouda variety. My grandfather, on the other hand, preferred cheeses that one could smell a block away.

Every older person I know enjoys a morning ritual of either coffee or tea. You might think about giving them imported cookies or scones to add a little variety to that morning routine or to offer to guests.

I recently sent a luscious, gourmet chocolate cheesecake to one of my aunts. She adores anything that is made of chocolate, and my cheesecake gift was a huge hit. In fact, chocolate seems to be a flavor preference that runs throughout my family, regardless of age.

I do urge you to keep size in mind. While a huge gift basket may look impressive, sending an amount of fruit that can actually be consumed before over ripening is actually more thoughtful. I don't know any senior who enjoys wasting good food!

The author is a consultant for an online cheesecake store, where you can have a gourmet chocolate cheesecake, whether traditional or lower carb, delivered to any of the 48 contiguous states. In fact, you may select from 29 cheesecake varieties.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Greg_Scott

These make women difficult to shop for. Putting some thoughts into the gift, however, will make it easy for you to determine which type of birthday gift is perfect for her. Finding out the perfect gift for her starts by knowing what type of person she is. But if you are on the rush, there are timeless gift ideas that apply to every woman. Here are those:

1. Flowers. Every woman loves flowers including those who deny it so if you really do not know what to give, a bouquet of flowers is your best option. Although most women can interpret any flower as a sign of either friendship or love, it really pays to ask your flower arranger the type of flower that conveys the proper message.

2. Chocolates and sweets. Many would agree that chocolates and sweets are commonly tagged as romantic gifts for women. But that doesn't mean that you have to be romantically in love with her to give chocolates as a birthday gift. Most online stores and specialty shops offer wide array of chocolates and sweets products for birthdays.

3. Perfumes and Cologne. Women are always attracted to pleasant odor such as perfumes and colognes so consider this as a birthday gift for her. Ask her what brand of perfume or cologne is she fond of.

4. Bags, Shoes, and Jewelry. Most, if not all women love at least one of these. But make sure that before giving one, you know exactly what she likes and what she will actually wear. Tastes can vary greatly with bags and shoes. Jewelry of course is an exception. You can never go wrong with earrings, bracelets, pendants, necklace, and diamonds or pearl. The good thing is, as long as it's a jewel, the cost is really not important.

5. Gift certificate. Perhaps, nothing beats a birthday gift that allows her to buy what she really wants. Also, you can consider giving gift certificates to a spa or fitness center she's been eyeing on for months.

6. Birthday card. While many people would think that the cost of the gift is essential for it to be remembered, nothing can match the memory of a simple message written on a piece of card. Some may find it cheesy but for her who values thought more than material things, it means a lot.

To learn more birthday gift ideas, visit http://www.birthdaygiftideas101.com.

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Anthony_Lee

However, if someone has a hobby, that's always a good source for gift ideas. There are countless options for motorcycle riders no matter what your gift budget is.

Safety Equipment:

Some riders are very serious about safety equipment while others just wave it off, maybe obeying helmet laws by buying the cheapest helmet around but nothing else. This can be frustrating for people who worry about them zipping down the freeway completely unprotected.

There are plenty of helmets for the rider in your life that combine protection with style, but there are more safety choices than just helmets.

Leather jackets are the classic rider outfit and are functional as well as attractive. Get one with a spine protector for the best chance of surviving an accident with no long-term injury. Leather boots are another great accessory that provide protection if the bike goes down.

Are you on a small budget? Try a pair of motorcycle gloves or a helmet lock.

A rider who might not wear full safety gear normally will often wear it if it's a gift. The rider gets a great gift and you get peace of mind.

Aftermarket Motorcycle Parts:

Most riders want to customize their bikes and the aftermarket motorcycle parts industry has never been bigger.

Custom chrome options give bikes an eye-catching accent. Look through aftermarket motorcycle parts catalogs to find chrome accessories from screws to trim to wheels. For those on a bigger budget, there are kits that let your rider chrome the whole bike.

Seats are always a good choice; after all that's where the rider spends the most time! A more comfortable seat takes the strain off and makes the ride more enjoyable. Or give the rider more storage with saddlebags and luggage racks.

For a really special occasion, try something extravagant like one of the many custom bike kits. It's a once-in-a-lifetime gift, but it's certainly something that will be remembered.

Talk to Riding Buddies:

If you just don't know what to buy you can always go for a gift certificate at an aftermarket motorcycle parts shop, but those are so impersonal.

Instead, talk to your rider's motorcycle enthusiast friends. They probably have great ideas and can help with the details. Maybe they have enough of it? Ate and forgotten. Try something else this year! Make everyone remember about Easter the whole year!

Easter happens one time a year. And that's the truth you can't fight with. Once in a year everybody sit around the table and eat a lot of eggs with joy from Jesus resurrection. The tradition demands to give some small presents to share this happiness - usually some egg-shaped sweets. This custom shouldn't be changed but maybe it's time to change the things that we are giving?

1. All right, it's Easter time so some presents should be in such spirit. Bunny? Probably not live (or maybe?) and not chocolate but a soft artificial bunny that your child can hold while sleeping. Cuddly bunny for a grown up person? Why not! It's a terrific way to say someone 'I love you' in a very special way and in the same time 'Happy Easter!'.

2. Plants may also serve the same purpose. Instead of giving someone a few cut roses you may give spring flowers in a flowerpots - for example tulip, crocus, hyacinth or even grass with a small artificial chicken on it. Plants will make the house look more happy, closer to nature and probably survive not only this year Easter.

3 Maybe something from home accessories? An ideal present for children or grown ups might be doorstops - from this occasion especially in rooster design. It looks really nice, serves every home and in this design looks like a piece of spring every season of the year. Because it is practical it can stand in the kitchen for example, and because it looks nice it can hold babies/children door ajar.

4. A dog! It might seem a risky idea but when you think about it for a while you will see that you can't give anything more special than a living creature and people are most happily when they get such presents. Of course that's a huge responsibility to have a pet so that kind of present should be thought through - animals aren't toys. If you well know the person you will also know if its home is opened for animals.

5. Something to decorate the house. There is a wide range of Easter decorations on the market. For example a pretty seasonal door wreath to welcome visitors over the Easter holiday. Hand-crafted with fresh foliage, herbs and moss and decorated with Easter nests - such Easter wreaths should be given few days earlier to serve its purpose as a welcoming wreath.

Happy Easter to all of you and tasty egg for!

Velvetbrown will help you find the best Easter gifts!

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Matthew_Sorrow

Why not give presents at the start of every season to someone close to you. Make it a quarterly event between the two of you, and others, to add excitement to every season.

So you like my idea. You want to give presents at the change of every season. Yet, the question arises, what do you buy for each season in order to give a special significance to it? Here are some suggestions.

Winter

It is cold, full of snow, and the only bright spot seems to be Christmas. However, winter does not have to be as dreary as you think, if you know what gifts to buy.

Obviously, when buying for winter, think cold and think what people need in the cold. Gloves, hats, winter car kits and thermal underwear are all good for this time of the year. If you are looking to brighten up someone's home, buy them a wreath or a flower that only grows in the spring. It will be expensive, but very much worth it. Specialty hot chocolate is a great gift as well for this time of year.

Remember, generosity is an honorable virtue. Don't feel like you are wasting money every time you gift shop.

Spring

Ah, the season of renewal and rebirth. Play into that by buying seeds for a flower garden, an umbrella for the April showers, or a special book that makes the reader want to sit outside in their yard, reading in the sunshine. The key is to make it something that puts the gifted person outside in the sun.

Summer

It is hot, beautiful and everyone is outside, so buy something that helps them while they are out and about. Something small like sunscreen, or big, like expensive sunglasses. You could also buy them a pass to a pool, or an air conditioner to keep the nights cool. Another excellent gift is a juicer, because summer just begs to have fresh fruit juice.

Autumn

The leaves are turning, winter is coming, and in many ways, Autumn is the most beautiful season of the year. Beautiful flowers to brighten up a day work great in fall, as does anything to do with Thanksgiving. A small bench that the recipient can sit on as the leaves fall would also work great as a gift.

By thinking about the season and what it represents, it is very easy to find the right gift for every season. Turn you year into the Year of Gifts, and make everyone happy that a new season is just around the corner.

Victor Epand is an expert consultant for flowers and gifts. Often times, babies outgrow clothes before they are worn or the clothes aren't the right size during the right season. This places a burden on the new mother to find time to return or exchange baby clothes. Following are five great gift ideas for new moms:

Be practical. Consider filling a new laundry basket with individually wrapped practical items like baby clothes hangers, diapers, wipes and bottles. Other practical and often overlooked gift ideas include a gift subscription to a parenting magazine, acknowledging older siblings with a gift of their own to open, or providing a gift certificate redeemable for a mom and tot gym or music class.

Pamper her. Consider a gift certificate to a spa for a massage or a pedicure for the new mom and offer to babysit so she can enjoy the outing. Or, prepare a gift basket filled with pampering items like bubble bath, candles, soaps, teas and a journal.

Give the gift of time. Sometimes gifts that don't cost a thing are considered the most priceless. Create a homemade gift certificate or a coupon book for items like an afternoon of free babysitting, housecleaning, or running errands. A much needed nap break or a few hours to shop alone can be a priceless gift for a new mom.

Cook it. Cooking dinners is generally not top-of-mind for new parents given the chaotic baby schedule. Consider coordinating a meal schedule for the new mom by having neighbors bring meals a few times a week for the first couple of months. Or, if cooking is not on your agenda either, consider giving the new parents a gift certificate for their favorite restaurant and offer to babysit while they enjoy a night out.

Give a gift that lasts. It's always nice to stumble upon a gift you know a new parent may not necessarily need or buy themselves, but something that will last beyond the newborn stage.
