I'm sure with stagnant state of the economy of the world you've seen the ads everywhere about selling your gold jewelery to make a little extra cash for bills, gas or whatever you need at that moment in time.

When ever Spring approaches the first three signs for me are:

The evenings are slowly getting brighter - I only made this observation last week as I mad my way home and looked at my watch seeing that it was actually 5.30 pm and I was running late. This is the first sign to me that Spring is on the way.

The second sign is the mornings getting lighter and the bird song of dawn starts getting louder and louder as the birds all wake up o come back to their roosts for Spring.

What to wear on vacation!

During my recent vacation I noticed that although I had all my beautiful jewellery, which for my vacation was an assortment of beads, shell and Silver, I opted to wear Silver for most of my stay. While on vacation although I like to dress accordingly and wear jewellery that matches my outfits and the sunny climate, I also enjoy not having to fuss around with which earring or necklace will work for a day site seeing and then look great on an evening out.

With this little dilemma in mind here are my tips

When going on holiday take as little jewellery as possible, less is more and think of the time you've saved not having to decide what to wear. I spent 15 minutes watching my sister decide what to wear just to go to the shops while we were away, when you have things to do that is valuable time wasted.

A few well chosen pieces will see you through a two week vacation with ease. We don't actually wear as much as we think when it comes to jewellery while on vacation.

Have a selection of earrings to highlight your vacation wardrobe, as they are easier to pack and can be dressed up or down for any occasion.

Take one full set of jewellery, i.e. matching necklace, earrings and/or bracelet. Sets always look great on holiday when you're looking for a change.

If you love the simple and easy style of one set of jewellery for every occasion then invest in a stunning silver or some choice pieces. Once you put them on at the start of your vacation there will be no need to take them off, unless you really need to.

So remember don't over pack and only take what you need. Never buy new jewellery to take on vacation because in most cases you will never wear it. Tried and tested pieces are always the best way to go. Above all enjoy your vacation and have a great time.

Like many of you out there I have lots of earrings in multiple jewellery boxes waiting for me to wear. But if your like all my other girlfriends there are always a select few that we wear to death and then there are those that once we have bought them we never even try them on or look at them again. We all buy that cute little earring while on holiday or in the sale on impulse and most time we usually regret our impulse buy.

Well to save money and time to buy earrings that will really get worn her is what I try to do. Ask yourself

What types of earrings you have in your collection – which ones do you wear most and which ones get pushed to the back of the jewellery box? This should be the starting point on understanding which types of earrings suit you and suit your lifestyle.

Do you wear large hanging earrings or small studs? Do you know why? Is it the size of the earring so close to your face that makes a difference? If you only wear small studs, will that large dangly earring that’s so in fashion be worn once and then never seen again?

Stud earrings are excellent for complementing an outfit, a favourite pair will keep getting worn again and again and will sometimes become your signature earring. Sterling silver earrings are perfect for this – look after them and you can wear them for years. In general, stud earrings are not fashion items and won’t date so for a really good quality pair you will get alot of use from them.

Larger earrings are better for dressing up an outfit to make a statement. Wearing your hair tied up and having large earrings gives a glamorous impression and makes you feel special. Not everyone can wear large earrings as they can overpower the face and no one notices you, just the earrings, this is especially true for petite wearers. Choose your earrings carefully as face shapes are also a deciding factor in your purchase,. The beauty of Lampwork Beads

What is Lampworking?

Lampwork is a glass forming technique that uses the process of melting glass rods over an open flame (originally it was the flame of a gas lamp). Once the glass is molten, the Lampwork artist wraps it around a metal rod called a Mandrel. Then with the help of various tools and techniques they further shape and design the glass; often adding other colours of glass to create elaborate decorations.

An easy guide to choosing jewellery that suites you

On average most neck sizes are very similar and so a 16” necklace will fit most. However, if your neck is larger than average, a 16" Necklace might be tight which will just draw attention to your neck, rather than the jewellery so opting to go for a longer necklace is always a good option. Most stores and sites are able to cater for this and offer necklaces in various lengths, a lot offer an 18” as standard so if you’re not sure just ask the length.When you’re choosing a pendant always consider size, how large is the pendant and how low does it fall?
