We've reached another milestone. If you're viewing this page, then you should already be aware of it. This is our new design, and the start of Gigmax as you will soon know it.

We would also like you to watch our new homepage video. This is exactly what you'll be able to do as soon as we launch publicly. You can say goodbye to USB flash drives. And you can say goodbye to email attachments.

Lastly, we can't thank you enough for sticking with us as we've been designing, coding, hacking, and whatever other nerdy computer terms you want to use, turning our crazy ideas into a reality. And we're just about ready for you to get your hands on it.

Calling all testers

About a year ago, we released the first version of our desktop software. We'll admit it; it was pretty basic. But we knew it was a big step in our plan, vision, and long-term development cycle. We knew we had to start somewhere in order to truly innovate. We knew we had to perfect the basics before we could revolutionize the computer industry. After all, the iPad could not have existed if the iPhone didn't come first. The iPhone could not have existed if the iPod didn't come first...

In our last post, we emphasized that we were in the final stages of development. This included a full system overhaul: A complete web redesign, a desktop software revamp, and a move to an even more reliable data center. We morphed our service from just a website with a cool desktop application into a fully integrated, feature-filled file synchronization system. We proudly call that Gigmax.

We're done talking about what's coming. Now we're ready to show you -some of you. If you're interested in joining us in taking the next step in the file storage, synchronization, and access industry, we want you to email us. "The day" is in sight.

Over the past four years, we've worked hard to make Gigmax a reliable, user-friendly, storage website. But a little over a year ago, we realized we could do better. Much better. When we made the decision to redevelop our service, we knew we were on the brink of a technology revolution, one that increasingly trended toward more cloud computing, social networking, and digital collaboration. That fact was forefront in our minds when we began efforts to improve and grow Gigmax. Let us explain.

First, we spent considerable time researching which technologies would suit our service best. We added, removed, and updated features to Gigmax, which so far, has acted as a test bed for our ideas. Second, we closely monitored the file storage, back-up, and collaboration industries and every one of our competitors to see what's good and what's bad from a users' point of view. Our goal was to grow, but not by sacrificing quality. We wanted to be careful not to rush into any changes too quickly, only to backtrack or fail because of our anxiety to bring our ideas to market something that often plagues technology start-ups. We wanted to do things right the first time.

Weve been relatively quiet over the past year while working on these Gigmax changes, knowing that our turn at what many entrepreneurs call the day was imminent. The day where we have a legitimate product to take to market that we truly believe will change people's everyday lives. The day where we can demonstrate our progressive work to our supporters. The day where we can show our friends why we chose to stay in with our computers on those weekend nights, often into the wee hours of the morning. The day when we can finally prove to you that all our talk of change equates to real change.

In the coming months, we'll be releasing a service that replaces numerous technologies at once from USB flash drives and email attachments to existing data back-up services. Gigmax will be file storage, organization, and transfer made easy. But it will go beyond a traditional "transfer" or "backup" system. It will even go beyond the current leaders in the file storage and synchronization industry. It will allow you to store and access your data anywhere in an instant by reducing the amount of redundant files you save on one computer, while making it effortless to recall your files on another. It will integrate with your computer seamlessly; you will not have to rearrange your existing file structure in any way. Simply, Gigmax will realize file synchronization and access for what it should be: limitless.

We know we've been pretty quiet lately but that's mostly because we've been working on some pretty special things over the past year. We are going to continue to be vague on purpose until we are ready to show you what we've come up with.

Mac App, Online Document Editing

We are excited to announce the release of the Mac version of our Desktop software. For those interested, it functions the exact same way as our PC version. Try it out here.

In addition, we have released a pretty unique feature in the file storage community, online document editing. You can now edit your documents, spreadsheets, and presentations all right through our website (thanks to Zoho.com) without ever downloading the file to your computer. We strongly encourage you to check it out!

Finally, we've also released other smaller features, most notably Version History. You can now revert back to any previous version of your files with the simple click of a button. We have a lot planned for the summer, and this is just the beginning, so stay tuned for more!

Summer Planning, Small Update

Sorry for the lack of updates the past month; we've been busy planning for the summer. We will have two interns working with us to help take Gigmax to the next level. We don't want to reveal anything just yet, so you'll have to wait until closer to the release time of what we have planned to find out more details. We will say though that our next big release will include the Mac version of the My Gigmax Desktop Software.

On a side note, we updated the web interface a bit and fixed some small bugs. If you still see something wrong, please contact us here.

Software and Web Interface Update

After months of hype and anticipation, we've finally released our updated web interface and Desktop software. We encourage you to try it out and tell us what you think. Right now, the software is only available for Windows, but the Mac version is just around the corner. Please note that the software is still in it's Beta stage, so if you find a bug, please let us know.

This is just the start of many ideas here at Gigmax. We will continue adding more and more features in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back often to see what's new.

On September 15, we were fortunate to receive a grant from the Keystone Innovation Zone. We are very grateful for the financial opportunity to further expand the company.

Our next update will include an improved website interface, our new desktop application and the implementation of various subscription plans for extra storage space. We are especially looking forward to the release of our desktop application, which will allow you, as a user, to synchronize a My Gigmax folder on your personal computer with your Gigmax account. Every file saved into this folder will immediately be backed up and accessible through the website, as well as any other computers you have linked with your Gigmax. We will be updating the application often, further bridging the gap between your computer and your Gigmax.

We are currently searching for testers for our beta desktop application. To sign up to help, click here and we'll e-mail you within the next two weeks when the beta version is ready.

Looking Ahead

Well, it's time for another update. As the summer comes to an end, you'll be pleased to know that we have big plans for the coming weeks.

Our desktop synchronization software is nearing its beta testing stage. We have been mentioning this and hyping it up for over six months now, and we can assure you that it won't disappoint. We will begin by only launching a free version of the software. In essence, it will allow you to synchronize your computer(s) with your Gigmax account, bridging the gap between your desktop and the website. It will run in the background and will allow you to save files into a Gigmax folder on your computer, which is automatically synced with your Gigmax account, so you can then retrieve the files within this folder from anywhere. The software ensures that the Gigmax folder on your computers always contains the same files and folders that are in your web-based account.

To kick off this launch, we will be running numerous contests with great prizes, so be sure to check in often for more information regarding these!

Soon after we release the free version of the software, we will release a paid version, which will include extra storage space and many never-before seen features. We don't want to give any of these unique features away yet, but expect this version to be released within the next few months.

Feature Release

While we continue working on the desktop application, we continue to improve upon the existing site. In addition to fixing some small bugs, we have added another icon to the files toolbar. By clicking the icon, you can now email file(s) from your Gigmax directly to others. The recipient will then get an email containing a link where they can immediately download the files.

The Next Milestone?

While we are cleaning up the existing site and fixing any bugs we may find, we are also working towards completing our next milestone.

In about a month, we plan to release the first version of our redesigned Desktop Application. This will allow you to automatically sync up your computer with your Gigmax. You won't have to go to the website anymore to upload files, but rather you will just be able to store them directly in a Gigmax folder on your computer, and then we will take care of the rest. The files in this folder will be accessible at all times through your online Gigmax account (or any other computers synced up with your Gigmax). In addition, the Desktop Application will work well with our Groups Application, but we will explain more details in a few weeks, so stay tuned.

Summer Milestone #1

At the beginning of May, we outlined some milestones for the summer, so we would be ready to go with an even better service in the fall in preparation for the launch of our first advertising campaign. Well, we have achieved our first goal.

1) You will notice a newer design, specifically an updated homepage and navigation area at the top.

2) In addition, we have released our Groups Application, which you can add by going to the Applications menu on the right (after you login). If you find any bugs, please let us know.

Looking for Beta Testers & New Poll

Within 2 weeks, we will be launching our Gigmax Groups application. This will allow users to upload files, post comments, announcements, and contact information. The application will be particularly useful when working on group projects.

After months of hard work, we have just released the new interface. The changes are outlined in a page that will be seen as soon as you login. Functionality/feature wise, there aren't too many new things, but the new interface paves the way for us to easily expand Gigmax and its offered services.

Better Late Than Never

Yes, we realize we have been saying "Coming soon" for the new API for what seems like forever (Because of this, one of our New Year's resolutions was to keep to our announced deadlines).

Having said that, we are finally approaching real launch time for the new API. We are just adding the finishing touches and expect to release it within the next week. You won't see many new features right off the bat, but rather changes to existing ones. The new API will allow us to do a lot more things that we previously would not have been able to do. Once the API is released, we will give a more detailed description of the direction we are heading in.

A Peek into Groups

First, we have made tremendous progress the past few weeks with the new API and are happy to say we are about 75% finished. We expect to release it within the next 2 weeks.

Next, as we mentioned in our previous post, one of the applications available to you will be Groups. This will allow you create private groups and invite your peers to join so you can do the following:

Post files so only group members can download them.
Make and comment on announcements and news to group members.
Post contact information so you can AIM, email, or call other group members when you want.

There will be other features as well, but these are the main ones. We will update you again shortly just before we release the new API.

Little to Say, A Lot Done, Even More to Do

Well, we haven't made an update in awhile, but that's because there hasn't been much to say. As stated in the last post, we are getting ready for expansion. We have been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes changes the past month, such as working on a new API. This new API will allow us to easily implement brand new features, some of which we have already been working on.

When we release the API, we will be adding an Applications sidebox that will allow you to choose which "extra" features you would like to install. The applications to choose from will be Photo Albums, GigPad, Gigmarks, and a new feature, Groups. We will be making another news post within the next week highlighting the functionality of the Groups feature. Over time, we will be developing more and more applications for you to use if you wish.

Finally, we will continue adding to the hype of the new Desktop Application that will be available at the end of the summer. We are extremely excited to release this, and expect the application to become the primary means to store files on Gigmax.

A Year Later...

Today marks our official one-year anniversary. The past year went extremely well. The hardest part of any start-up is getting the company's feet off the ground, and we feel we have done just this. With over 750 users and over 10,000 stored files (with minimal advertising), both Gigmax's growth and use have been consistent.

Now that we have a stable version of Gigmax up and running, we are going to expand our features greatly, beginning with the Community section. Within the next few days, we will be slightly altering the way you can share files with others. The changes, although subtle, will be the basis for our future plans, which will primarily involve slowly transforming Gigmax into more of a community.

Last and certainly not least, we are looking forward to launching a brand new desktop application (compatible with both Windows and Macs). We don't want to give away many details about it just yet, but we actually expect the application to become the primary means to store files on Gigmax. We will have more frequent news updates this summer, as we release new features.

Wii Contest Details

Feature Friday - Multiple Downloads

Yes, Feature Friday on a Saturday, a day late. This week's feature to highlight is the ability to download multiple files at once. If you go in your Gigmax and select the checkbxoes next to all the files you wish to download, then click the Download icon (disk) from the toolbar, it will automatically create a .zip file for you to download that contains all of the selected files.

On a side note, we now have over 400 users and over 7,000 files being stored!

Feature Friday - Selecting Multiple Files to Upload

Going along the same lines as the previous Friday's Feature highlight, we would like to point out that you may select many files to upload by using our Advanced, Multiple File Uploader. To do so, after you click the Browse button, use the Control and Shift Keys to select them all at once. Hold down either of these keys and click on the files you wish to upload. All of these will then be added to your file upload list.

As posted yesterday, every Friday from now on, we will quickly highlight an already-existing feature on our site that you may not have known about.

Today's feature is our advanced, multiple file uploader. As weird as it may sound, some users do not know this exists, and only use the simple file uploader located on the My Files page. To access our advanced uploader, simply click on the Upload Files link in the subnavigation bar below the My Gigmax tab.

First, every Friday from now on will be known as "Feature Friday," where we will highlight an already-existing feature that you may not have known about.

For the next week, we will be making small edits and changes to the current site, most of which probably won't even be noticeable.

As for our next big features, we have been working on a music player, which will allow you to listen to your uploaded music right from our site. Also in the near future, you will be able to create and join private groups, which will allow you and others you invite to all upload and download files to one place. For example, if you have a team project to do, all the members of your team can join a group, where they can upload all their work so the others can download and edit it.

Just a quick update: We are about a week away from launching our folders feature. As previously mentioned, this will allow you to organize all your files into folders in your Gigmax.

On a side note, we have broken the 5000 stored files mark and have over 330 users.

What's to Come

Well, first, we are nearing in on 300 users and 4,000 stored files (about 2.5 new users and 33 new files per day).

Second, we are going to be spending the next week or so cleaning up the site, adding small features, and fixing any other problems that we come across. After this, we will be developing our next big feature, a folder system for your Gigmax, so you can better organize your files. Once this is done, we will be adding features to the Windows Application to allow you to upload entire folders on your computer to your Gigmax with just the click of a button. Gigmax Albums: Launched

Well, the time has come. As you might know, we have been working diligently for the past few months developing a revolutionary interface to create photo albums. We have just released this new feature, so be sure to check it out. It was uniquely designed to allow you to add captions and rotate photos, as they upload, eliminating the expected wait time that other photo album websites have. Gigmax Albums: Coming Soon

Its been awhile, so we are just updating you on the progress of our photo albums feature. After weeks of development, we are slowly approaching completion. We expect to continue working on it and testing it over the next 2 weeks, aiming for an early-to-mid August release. Our ultimate goal is to have a more efficient, easier way to create photo albums to share with your family and friends. Stay tuned for more updates.

We are just updating you on the status of our Windows Desktop Application Add-on. We have released our final stable version, v1.1.0. All of the small bugs should be fixed now so be sure to download the latest version in our Add-on section.

WDA v1.0.9 & What's Next

We have again updated our Windows Desktop Application to v1.0.9. With this release, you can choose to have the application start each time you start-up your computer. This works nicely with the "Remember my login info" option, so your computer is essentially always logged into your Gigmax by default. This should be one of our last update releases of the application for some time now.

So what's next? Well, we are currently working on a My Albums section, so you can upload all your photos and create albums to show your friends. This feature will have some unique features, different from what you normally see with the other photo storage sites out there. We expect to release this within the next 10-14 days, so continue to check back.

Gigmarks Windows Application Update Released

We expect to release the Windows Desktop Application Add-on within the next few days. Below is a link to some screenshots demonstrating how it will work; they are pretty self-explanatory. Basically, you will be able to simply right-click files on your computer and click Send To > My Gigmax (Step 2 of the preview below), then the files will immediately begin being uploaded to your Gigmax. We have just launched Gigmax Beta! Over the next 24 hours, we will be looking for any small bugs that may have occurred while transferring the site over from our test location. Gearing up for Beta launch

We are quickly getting ready for our Gigmax Beta launch on June 4th. We are taking care of the finishing touches, bug fixing, and small features are being added this weekend before we go live. For those of you who have been helping test Gigmax, all files and usernames will be deleted before we go live.
