If you want to exhibit we’ve changed the rules. There will be no hanging fee to exhibit in the venues, however there will be a 20% commission collected on any sales in the venues. That money will go back to GVAL to help keep us alive.

As a result of this change we’ve had an overwhelming response from members at the meeting who signed up to participate, so space is limited, until we have more venues. Right now there are 3 venues, Bergies, Cholewka Law Offices and GSBA. Let me know right away that you want to participate and I’ll include you in the list.

Basically I’m going to break us up into three teams, one for each venue. You will be notified when your team is to show up at a particular venue. You will know who is on your team and you can ask them for help if you can’t make the scheduled time.

If you have any ideas for other venues let me know so we can work with the owners.

I’ll be sending out a schedule next week. So plan to get your work prepared for hanging by making sure the art is wired and has tags for pricing. With limited space let’s keep the pieces around the 16×20 size maximum and plan on 2-3 pieces.

You are receiving this email because you have either taken a watercolor class with me or you have expressed an interest in taking a watercolor class with me. 2012 is just around the corner and classes will be starting again in January on Mondays and Saturdays. Each class will be three hours and ongoing, instead of two hours and part of a series, so that you have more time to paint in class.

“Pouring & Painting with Watercolor”, will be taught at Jerry’s Artarama at 4421 S. Rural Road, # 1-3 in Tempe, AZ 85282, just south of Highway 60. This class is about getting in touch with your creative side, in an inspiring environment, while learning how to pour paint, create textures, mix colors, use resists and more!

If you have taken a class with me you may paint from your own photographs and will learn about composition, lighting, unifying your painting with color and how to best use your photo references.

If this is your first class with me I will provide a photo reference for you to paint or you may paint an abstract, using the techniques demonstrated.

The class schedule for January and February, 2012 is:

• Mondays, January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and February 6, 13, 20, 27 from 1:00 – 4:00
• Saturdays, January 7, 14, 21, 28 and February 4, 11, 25 from 10:30 – 1:30

The minimum number of students for each class is 1 and the maximum is 4.

Be included in Gilbert’s Centennial Celebration Art Show.  The Gilbert Family Music and Art Festival will take place on February 17 and 18.  We are seeking art for a display in the foyer for those two days.  We are asking for you to submit your entries so that we know how many pieces and sizes we have, and need to set up for.  It is juried only to the extent that we include “family friendly” artwork.  The prospectus in attached.  There is no jury fee and no cost to enter.

Gilbert Family Music and Art Festival
When: February 17 to 18, 2012
Where: Higley Center for Performing arts.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Only original artwork, conceived and created by the entrant.
2. Artwork with a Gilbert – Past, Present, Future theme in any medium is eligible.
3. Maximum size: 36″ on any dimension (framed)
4. Two dimensional artwork must be finished, framed or gallery wrapped and wired ready to hang. (No alligator hooks please.)

How to Apply

1. Complete and sign the registration form. Click here to download it.
2. Email a copy of the registration form and a jpeg file of your art to GilbertArt@usa.com with “Centennial-Gilbert” in the subject line, or Mail a copy of the registration form and a CD containing a jpeg file of your artwork to: Centennial Art, 4736 S Marble Street, Gilbert, AZ 85297. CD will not be returned.
3. Registration forms must be received by February 1, 2012.
4. Artwork must be delivered to Higley Center for Performing Arts on February 17.
5. Artwork must be picked up from HCPA. Exact times will be forthcoming and you will be notified by email of drop-off and pick-up times.
6. No limit on number of entries. Complete a registration form for each artwork submitted.
